FRONT MISSION 3: Remake
Overall, Front Mission 3: Remake is a solid update to a classic mecha tactical role-playing game from the PlayStation era. It does feel rushed in places, and here’s hoping the game receives some patches to fix some of those issues, much like the previous remakes in the series have.
All of this together means that while it is very easy to give an unequivocal recommendation for Front Mission 3, the remake is a mixed bag as a remake. If you can play an original disc copy or own a PSN copy, you will be better served sticking with that. The slight improvements in load time aren’t worth the various downsides, at least at this point. Still, if playing the original version is not an option, I would generally recommend the remake, but only once patches start to roll out. At the very least both Ryogo’s Polish line and the AP issue need to be addressed.
Front Mission 3 Remake at its best is held back by a weak story and characters, but the best gameplay in the original trilogy means there is absolutely fun to be had by players more focused on the strategic battles and mech customization. The core game mostly holds up after all these years. The awful aesthetic choices, though, make this the sort of remake that is hard to recommend because it’s a worse experience in many ways than the version that came out over a quarter century ago.

They changed the based design of the wanzers from having three types; standart balanced, slim, and buff to only one. Shooting from the height doesnt add your accuracy, even worse enemy from below got better acc. Stun and eject rate are too high that you dont even need to bother to learn some skills. And for something that called itself a remake, none is changed. Not to the better only to worst. As the fan of the original, i feel insulted buying this game when it came out, really not worth it.

Very good game, much better than the first part. The graphics could be better. I'm three hours into the game and I'm not disappointed yet. I'm giving it a higher rating because I'm aware that the game was made by a small studio

Not perfect, but a good remake of fantastic game. Especially considering ''indie'' budget. Some patches could make this remake even better.

Forever Entertainment made a promise and delivered: it brought all three remastered Front Mission games into the spotlight with quality-of-life improvements. Front Mission 3: Remake offers a faster experience, enhanced visuals, and better performance for new players, but it does little to add new content to the table compared to the previous two remakes. That being said, it still remains a fun and challenging experience.

Front Mission 3 Remake is a fantastic strategy JRPG. It has excellent combat, and deep mech customization, led by an engrossing story. It’s easy to get sucked into the conflict of the Front Mission world. And that early choice leading to different narratives truly shocked me. I had no idea! The game does have some visual oddities and too much framerate stutter in its cutscenes, but I would still say Front Mission 3 Remake is a must-play for fans of strategy JRPGs.

I’m halfway through the game on Emma’s campaign and really enjoying it so far. The core gameplay still feels great after all these years, and the remake is fine overall. It keeps the spirit of the original while giving it a modern touch. The tactical battles are still satisfying, and the story holds up surprisingly well. I’m looking forward to seeing how the second half plays out.

Front mission 3 remake for me is the front mission game I wanted from the beginning. Could've skipped 1 and 2. I'm not sure what the anger and fallout over this game is about. I see a lot of review bombing. Look, I'm not getting into being mad about a.i. and all that jazz. I'm not going to make a game review that personal and I'm mostly playing on switch 2. But some people seem interested in complaining and I can tell based on what you're saying that you read a review and decided to just complain and it doesn't appear like you played the original nor did you play the remake. I reserve 0 scores and low scores for broken games not just games I'm mad about. So I don't know, maybe it's just me. But Just as switch 2 mostly relied on the lessons of switch which is what I wanted it to do, front mission 3 remake is more like an updated remaster of front mission 3. Most of what I loved about FM3 is here. A few new flourishes are here and there. The character portraits are hd versions of FM3. Trust me I played this game a lot over the years. The blocky edges of the vehicles and wanzers are back, just like the original. If you're mad about the art design FM3R sticks real closely to the original. It is grittier and dirtier on the switch than switch 2, maybe a little slower and uglier but basically if you have fond memories of front mission 3 you will love front mission 3 remake regardless of how you choose to play it. The 2 different stories based on a choice you make early are back. Love the use of hd rumble. Could've used character voiceovers tho. The random rng of front mission 1 remake that I didn't like doesn't play as big a role here in front mission 3 remake as weapons do pretty much what they say they do. Just like the original front mission 3 that helped make it a classic and made me love it. I love the present/futuristic setting of the game. I knew what to expect and got what I wanted. I bought all 3 remakes and Front mission 3 remake is right up my alley. As turn based mech games go. I think they mostly got it right this time. So I don't know. Just don't listen to the haters on this one. They complain and will never be happy about anything. Again my only complaint is that Front mission 3 remake plays it safe as more an hd remaster of the original, but just like switch 2, I didn't want anyone to reinvent the wheel, just update it and give me the 2025 version of it. And they did that in spades

The original is one of my favourite SRPGs of all time and FRONT MISSION 3: Remake does a decent job of modernising the gameplay. However, its downgraded visual assets often make its aesthetics feel cheap.

The original Front Mission games were hard to get into, and when the third game came around, it marked a shift to make them user friendly. Front Mission 3: Remake is very faithful to its source material and improves a few gameplay mechanics subtly, which makes it a smoother experience. It's not the best strategy RPG since the RNG and the small party size can seem restrictive, and it also isn't the best remake, but it is the best Front Mission game so far.

This remake delivers a visually improved version of a classic SRPG with a complex mech-based tactical system and a mature, politically charged story, but suffers from a poor Spanish translation and a lack of meaningful gameplay innovations; while the enhanced interface and new quality-of-life options help, the game misses the chance to fully modernize or preserve the original’s raw essence.

The branching narrative of Front Mission 3: Remake is the strongest of the series for me and kept me engaged with it long after I had grown frustrated with the combat system. The new music is solid, but also highlights some of the older sound effects that haven't been updated. And, to top it all off, the new artwork for the Switch port is bafflingly bad and gives strong AI-generated vibes, making this feel like a rushed, half-finished remake of a beloved tactical RPG.

The new intro really does say everything you’d need to know about the artistic merits of this remake. The humanity is gone, the literal art replaced to remove all sense of life. The Front Mission 3 Remake will be a fine product for anyone without a critical eye and the context to expect better. There is no artistic merit to a product that dumps the hard work of people 26 years ago into a plagiarism machine to make up things that were never there. Past the hand-wringing over artistic merit, it just looks straight up ugly. I’m sure both the publisher and the developer will repeat what they’ve done with all their remakes, patching it bit-by-bit into a more acceptable state over the years. Maybe it’s true that mankind will never learn.

Really solid REMAKE - more companies should follow this path. Working with self-paid team to bring back FM series alive. People complain about non-proof AI use to create some simple graphics.. even if - main content is done really good! Get over it! Play game - stop focusing on irrelevant details..

I've been a fan of Front Mission for around 25 years now and Front Mission 3 is one of my favorite games of all time. There is a strong message in the game about conflict, human nature and history repeating itself. It's a disappointment then with this remake, I purchased it to give it a try and give the developers the benefit of the doubt, even after seeing the trailers and demos leading up to the release. Overall the Remake of Front Mission 3 just feels like it lost the exceptional Art Direction from the original game, which had a much more dark and gritty style. In the Remake, there are random glowing lights plastered all over the wanzers like the CEO or some non-artist just demanded it because "kids love that glowing stuff!" There is also some really horrible chromatic aberration going on alot of the environments I've player through that covers everything in this really ugly glow effect that actively subtracts again from the art direction again, which already had a low bar with this Remake. Also, the designs of the wanzers themselves feel much worse I feel, like they were lacking the original style the wanzers had in the original game, and instead in the Remake they feel almost toy-like and not like giant mechs they are supposed to be. The sound effects overall also sound much worse, with the machine gun being a prime source of this issue, weapon sounds are very flat and lack any sort of 'oomph' to them when firing compared to the original. The new intro also just feels very low quality with the wanzer showing, instead of the original with a lone soldier looking over the devastation of the city from the game's events. It just feels very cheaply made. While I don't necessarily believe the Developers used AI for up-scaling, many of the 2d images just feel very cheaply done and like there wasn't any soul or heart put into them. I think there is a reason the game and developers are getting so much criticism online, it isn't simply just to be "mean", it's that this game deserved much better then what we actually got. It's disingenuous then, to say the criticism is just from some "anime character avatar weirdo online", or also one I've seen "Oh these are just nitpicking arguments" but rather from fans who care about the series, and to see it given this half baked treatment is really just unacceptable. What it means is that any subsequent Remake games of Front Mission (4 and 5 possibly) will also lack quality and be a substantial loss to what came before originally. I thought the Nintendo Insider review summed it up perfectly at the end of the review they did: perhaps Mankind never learns. Play the original PS1 Front Mission 3. It's infinitely better than this garbage remake. Edit: I've been reading some of the reviews in support of this game and it's obvious alot of them are not being honest, maybe it's just people from the development team blindly supporting it so they can keep their jobs. It's a great example of "toxic positivity", same issue as Concord. Perhaps they didn't play the original game and are only supporting this because it's new, it doesn't change anything with the criticisms. Some guy said that the people criticizing this remake just "hate everything", not true at all dude. Go and read my reviews for example on other games I've played, most of them are positive. The difference is that the people criticizing the game are better fans in general because we actually care about quality, you obviously will just eat whatever slop is given to you and call it solid gold.. give me a break. Demand more from the games you love, otherwise they will continue to slip into mediocrity which obviously some of these people giving the remake a 10 or 9 are doing. You are rewarding bad practices in the games industry which is causing it to fade into irrelevance.

When you make a remake ****, you have to make it at least at the level of the original... Here everything is worse than in the original game: - The original strict military design is exchanged for a typical futuristic one with a bunch of unnecessary details on models that just get in the way of the eyes, with poor work on materials like metal textures - The camera work is much worse - The backgrounds are terrible - The sounds (one of the main advantages of the original) seem to have been downloaded from mediocre free databases - The animations are certainly better than in the original demo, but they are still far from the original - All the images on the Internet have been remade by a pretty bad neural network, the same applies to all the portraits - The new music is worse than the old one, but you can switch it - I'm sure I've forgotten something else too... Like an outdated and simply ugly UI, lost aesthetics of the original main menu and etc. Well, there is literally not a single advantage here compared to the original except, obviously, new graphics technologies
