Front Mission 3 Remake

User Scoredrewezbreezee

Front mission 3 remake for me is the front mission game I wanted from the beginning. Could've skipped 1 and 2. I'm not sure what the anger and fallout over this game is about. I see a lot of review bombing. Look, I'm not getting into being mad about a.i. and all that jazz. I'm not going to make a game review that personal and I'm mostly playing on switch 2. But some people seem interested in complaining and I can tell based on what you're saying that you read a review and decided to just complain and it doesn't appear like you played the original nor did you play the remake. I reserve 0 scores and low scores for broken games not just games I'm mad about. So I don't know, maybe it's just me. But Just as switch 2 mostly relied on the lessons of switch which is what I wanted it to do, front mission 3 remake is more like an updated remaster of front mission 3. Most of what I loved about FM3 is here. A few new flourishes are here and there. The character portraits are hd versions of FM3. Trust me I played this game a lot over the years. The blocky edges of the vehicles and wanzers are back, just like the original. If you're mad about the art design FM3R sticks real closely to the original. It is grittier and dirtier on the switch than switch 2, maybe a little slower and uglier but basically if you have fond memories of front mission 3 you will love front mission 3 remake regardless of how you choose to play it. The 2 different stories based on a choice you make early are back. Love the use of hd rumble. Could've used character voiceovers tho. The random rng of front mission 1 remake that I didn't like doesn't play as big a role here in front mission 3 remake as weapons do pretty much what they say they do. Just like the original front mission 3 that helped make it a classic and made me love it. I love the present/futuristic setting of the game. I knew what to expect and got what I wanted. I bought all 3 remakes and Front mission 3 remake is right up my alley. As turn based mech games go. I think they mostly got it right this time. So I don't know. Just don't listen to the haters on this one. They complain and will never be happy about anything. Again my only complaint is that Front mission 3 remake plays it safe as more an hd remaster of the original, but just like switch 2, I didn't want anyone to reinvent the wheel, just update it and give me the 2025 version of it. And they did that in spades

Capcom Fighting Collection 2

GAMERS WE DID IT. Finally got powerstone 1 & 2 in any form on newer systems. On switch the games run silky smooth, 1 second load times and look great. Vibrant and beautiful. Project justice is the hidden gem. And it's online for all games. The online play is excellent. You can play the game while you wait for an opponent. I been waiting on this. I personally bought this collection for the 4 3d games. Powerstone 1 & 2, plasma sword, and project justice. It's not that the 2d fighters are bad, it's just I own most of the other collections, samurai showdown, street fighter, marvel, snk, king of fighters and even the 2 mortal Kombats on switch so Capcom vs snk 1 & 2, **** don't really excite me as I feel I've already played them recently in another form. My only true complaints here is lack of hd rumble, and the sound on my OLED is just not as loud as it is for other games otherwise everything else exceeds my expectations. START RANT. Do I understand that the games have extras that are missing? Yes. Any complaint I have can be summed up by the price. 40$. Powerstone 2 by itself costs more than that for the Dreamcast on certain sites and I'm always aware that we gotta keep people searching for the original versions and systems so releasing a complete version of 8 games at 40$ would destroy the market for those older games/consoles. I'm a gamer not a complainer. I will take these games in any form. Arcade or console versions. I preordered this collection just so I could get my powerstone fix and check out some other weird games. And 40$ is really reasonable. I've spent more money on games I played for an hour and put down. I'm not a masochist and deny myself this fun, and If in the future Capcom rereleases the complete definitive versions, I will buy those too. I've owned powertone 1 & 2 at least 5 times each and at 5$ a game what more do you want? So that ends my rant. Gamers will see enough here to warrant a very strong purchase and be pleased and thrilled with the collection here, and how they look and play, and complainers will complain, want the world for free and be miserable. Me? I'm absolutely thrilled by Capcom fighting Collection 2. Now pardon me. I have 3 power stones to collect

ELDRADOR CREATURES SHADOWFALL

Shadowfall is a really good charming fun turn based strategy game. It deserves a lot of praise. English voice acting, hd rumble, explains itself well, colorful, has a good sense of humor. Runs well on switch, has a good soundtrack. In all honesty, played by itself the game deserves a 9 as it just doesn't make many mistakes and it is what it says it is. Here's why I scored it lower. Record of agarest war. I just finished kingdoms of amular rereckoning and am 85 hours into tales of graces f remastered both action rpg's and wanted something turn based. Saw and bought shadowfall and agarest war. The creatures in shadow fall play more to me like superheroes. Every creature moves and attacks different. More like chess. Pure chess. Positioning and movement combined with how the creature attacks. You don't upgrade your characters individually really, you upgrade the overall team of characters stats. Healthy, damage, mana... What I was looking for was closer to shining force, final fantasy tactics and triangle strategy. Turn based strategy with armor, spells and weapons builds and stats, positioning and movement. Agarest is the more obtuse, confusing to understand game, has no English voiceovers and no rumble. Agarest does more wrong. It's just playing them at the same time, agarest gets closer to what I'm after than creatures shadow fall even if agarest is the worse of the 2 games. Totally subjective and others may find creatures shadow fall all the game they need. For me shadowfall gets close, agarest gets closer, so really it's just the timing of me starting agarest, and not shadow falls fault. Shadow fall is a good game, deserves a look, worth the 40$ and I'm not mad about the purchase. I have my hands full of games, it's 1 of them I'm playing now, it's just getting beat out by a game that comes closer to what I want. Shadowfall is not the kind of game you have to remember the story, what you were doing, where you were going, so you can put it down and return to it more easily. Just more a case of bad timing than a bad game

Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars
7
User Scoredrewezbreezee

To long, didn't read; suikoden 1 & 2 hd remaster is basically putting lipstick on a pig. You are looking at 2025 pretty 2d graphics on the foundation of old 1990's games complete with 1990's problems. I don't want to make this a gripe fest but things like lining up at a save point, no ability to turn off encounters, final fantasy tactics like control scheme in battles where enemies aren't north, south, East, West, more like north-east, north-west, south east, south west, having to push a button to run while walking is way to slow, no auto run, no cursor memory, rudimentary auto save system that is questionable as to when it works, having to find checkpoints to save period, no save anywhere/anytime no rumble, no voiceover, archaic design to the inventory that makes management of items buying and selling a c h o r ****. If you're buying this game for nostalgia purposes, fine. If you never played it and want to know what the hoopla is about, ok. But if you're like me who has lived through all the videogames generations and you understand why the bells and whistles of todays videogames are so important to immersion then you're probably going to be unimpressed with this very naked remaster. Suikoden 1 is the start. I can't name how many remasters I've started and because 1 was so bad, I stopped playing and didn't see or care about where the series was going. Literally what they say in the eShop is what you get. Graphics & character portraits have been updated. That's about it. The music I had to turn off because if I spent more than 3 minutes in an area, it looping grated on my nerves. Look I wanted to like this collection, I want to brag on it, but basically it's not enough to pull me from the much better games I'm already playing. I was playing earlier and visualizing about playing other rpg's I have in my backlog and wondering why I chose to skip them for this. I read a developers article about how they understood the assignment, they didn't want to release a bad product and have the suikoden revival end before it began, they started this 5 years ago, shoulda released in 2024 but they had to make sure it was perfect and how they wanted to honor the original idea and all I'm thinking it's 2025 and you've still gotta compete with all the games im playing so you gotta bring it, how disappointed I am because in 5 years I expected much better, much more and now how these games cant compete with what im playing. Basically if this is what they were going to do, just dump the original games on the eShop and be done in time to compete with the final fantasy pixel remasters in 2023 when I wasn't playing anything else. Look. I'm not a critic, I'm a gamer and your game has to give me a reason to play it over everything else I'm playing and doing. This doesn't do it. Because I am a fan and want suikoden to succeed I am willing to bend and give it the hometown discount of a 7. But in all honesty the games are just average and I can think of other games, better games I can be playing. I recommend waiting on a sale since you're basically buying it just for suikoden 2 which isn't worth the 49.99 by itself or if you must buy them, remind yourself that they are almost 30 year old games. Because if you don't remind you, their design will.

Tales of Graces f Remastered

User Scoredrewezbreezee
Jan 29, 2025
For what it's worth I don't follow critics for advice on video game purchases. I played and beat tales of xillia years ago and played a good deal of xillia 2 and had fun with those so when I saw graces f was being remastered, I was interested. I will start with what I like about graces f remastered. It uses HD rumble and English voice acting. It also has Japanese voice acting but I prefer English. I don't care if it's bad English voice acting, it helps my immersion that it's English and rumble. It loads screens quickly on switch and little to no slowdown i saw. I like that they gave me the ability to toggle on and off if I want a destination marker on screen. I bought the deluxe and I like that it gave me extra settings which some of this may be in the base game but it seems that allows me to manipulate damage I give, turn up the experience and sp I receive, make buying cheaper, music options, extra spells, in game gald so I wasn't broke at the beginning of the game and other perks like outfits. I originally didn't think I would want the deluxe, but yeah it was worth it. I turned most of the options on then jacked the game up to hard difficulty which also gives better loot drops and I'm having a blast! It's a story of friendship and overcoming obstacles and personally at times it gets a little too sappy for me but the characters are lovable and it has a lot of heart. It's a very long game, so there is value there. I like the battle system. It's an action RPG and you can see the enemies and decide if you want to fight them, or turn off enemies. The things I don't like are trivial. But Because it's a remaster, not a remake, the colors are vibrant enough but around the edges you know it's an older game. The character models can be a bit blocky. The in town music i turned down because it got on my nerves and with the deluxe which you could also buy separately from the base game, but does allow you to change battle music not town music unfortunately. And I wish it had the option to save anywhere, not just at particular points. Save points are frequently found, but I prefer save anytime. Finally while I'm complaining, the very first chapter childhood ends or something like that is a little boring. You have to suffer through it, it's more like a tutorial, it's a lot of talking and cutscenes and it introduces you to the mechanics of the game and some of the characters. It takes about 5 hours or so. Just be aware. It's kinda slow. Hang in there and it picks up steam. Overall I give graces f remastered a 8.5 to 8.75. But because I have to choose between 8 and 9, I rounded up to 9

Megaton Musashi W: Wired

Such a fun game. Megaton musashi w wired is a mix of call of duty, dynasty warriors and front mission. A customizable robotic, hack and slash, with some first person shooter gun elements. The cutscenes are more like an anime. But it does some things wrong that I don't like. First there is no English dub. It's all Japanese voice acting with English text. I paid 75$ for the deluxe and no English voice acting is inexcusable in 2024. Also the pacing of the game is off and on. I don't like how much information they throw at you at once and expect you to understand all of it. The story attempts to explain this, but after the first couple hours of being guided through various systems, I was in information overload. Also you know your game is releasing on the switch and people play in handheld mode. So for crying out loud make the lettering big enough for me to see what button you want me to push when you're explaining things. At one point I couldn't read it so I was just randomly pushing buttons to figure out which one they wanted. So I've complained a lot and you ask why I gave megaton a 9? Because once you get past the first few hours the game is really a blast to play. Not many frame drops, interesting story, good characters, it's funny and has its sad moments. It's really a well made game that has a few issues. Level 5 the developer i remember from ni no Kuni revenant kingdom if I'm not mistaken and they create good games. Overall it's a fun action game and when I'm not playing it, I'm thinking of playing it. And that's always a good thing for a game. But no, it's not perfect. Also if you've made it this far in my review and it says a 10 it's because metacritics system would let me post an 8 or a 10, but not a 9 for whatever reason.

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged

Well this is how you don't make a game. I was hyped to play this game and eventually bought it, but it just confused me and **** all the joy out of me. it features women as the highlight of a hot wheels game, which isn't a bad thing necessarily but if you don't explain your game it makes you look like you focused on the wrong thing. This is my first hot wheels game. At one point I was being launched off the track unexpectedly for no reason on my very first race. It doesn't explain itself, it's physics or what to expect or how it works. Your just supposed to know. I struggled with this game. It wasn't fun, it didn't ease me into what to do, I'm glad I had 40 dollars to waste, because I found this to be a garbage game, that doesn't explain itself and is focused on the wrong things. They got my money already. Don't let them get yours. 1/10 frustrating, confusing, direction less, and doesn't explain what it expects from you, how to play it, and won't highlight things that other racers would that make for a natural ease in playing. Mortal Kombat 1

Dec 29, 2023
I don't know what state mortal Kombat 1 released in for switch, but I got it for Christmas after reading that it had been fixed by a 30 gbs download that was basically a whole different game. The game itself is a 36gbs download so be aware if you're buying it digitally. Catching it on sale I took the gamble that what I had read was true. And it was. If you played mortal Kombat 11 on Switch then you know what you're getting. The graphics for mk1 is a little better than mk11 i think. The game runs smoothly enough, there is a couple frame drops during cutscenes, but nothing so egregious that it distracted from the game. There is maybe 5-15 second load screens for each fight but again nothing I'm not already used to. I don't like the micro transactions but it insures that unless you buy the game at 5-10$ then wb is going to make money as the next roster of 6 characters and kameos start at a few bucks, up to 39.99 for the whole lot. Not really sure how I feel about the kameo system but it was different calling in a character from off screen in a mk game. The only thing that's really my negative is the overall price of the game for everything. it feels like they completed the game, then cut off parts of the roster to charge more as dlc. The roster has about 20-25 characters and somewhere around 10-15 kameos. Some of whom are locked behind either a paywall or you unlock playing the game. Asking me to pay 100$ for a game is a little outrageous unless it's one helluva game. And I'm not sure if mortal Kombat 1 is 100 bucks worth of game. I know I'm complaining but I'm really happy they got it running on the switch, so to that I do give them massive props. I don't know how the game plays on PS5/Xbox so I have nothing to compare it to, or bash it for. Overall I like mortal Kombat 1 and I'm glad I took the risk and bought it for switch and i think its worth it, but only if you can catch it on sale as the dlc is going to jack up the overall cost 8.25/10

Triangle Strategy

User Scoredrewezbreezee
Dec 25, 2023
To long and you don't want to read? My review in a nutshell is that taking the best attributes from shining force, fire emblem 3 houses and final fantasy tactics, triangle strategy delivers a compelling strategy rpg that is gripping, dramatic, and fun to play. BUT you do have to wait 3 and a half to 5 hours for it to finally open up because first it has to setup the story and teach you how it plays. Now my long winded review. It took since triangle strategy released in 2022 to get me to buy it because I was so busy reading reviews thinking that I was purchasing just an interactive story. And.after buying and playing it over Christmas holiday, I was ready to dismiss this game as nothing more than that till I made it to the encampment for the first time. I had 2 battles up until then and it took about 4 hours. I was tired of the story I wanted to play the game. Once the encampment is open you get to replay battles and train that give you money, kudos, and spoils that you use to upgrade your characters (inside and outside of just leveling up) and purchasing items. And after I was done with the encampment and was ready for more story, the pacing picked up and I realized that all the grinding in the encampment that I did, money I earned, and story unfolding that I watched was going somewhere. Square Enix really thinks these rpg's through. Every thing you do ties into something else. Talking to NPC's unlock conversation options making it worth while to talk to everyone, scouring every part of town looking for items not yet available in stores, and finding stores in the towns that sell items your encampment store doesn't sell. And so many different decisions to make that factor into the story that makes this a masterpiece worth the investment with multiple endings and difficulty settings. And it's mostly voice acted. Triangle Strategy is a great little strategy rpg that works your mind more than your fingers and is every bit worth the 60$ I paid for it. It's a 2d/3d affair, it doesn't stutter, doesn't have long load screens, and no frame drops, 9.25/10

Hogwarts Legacy

I don't know which way to write this review. For those looking for a quick synopsis, this switch port of Hogwarts Legacy really punches above its weight class and if you own a switch there is nothing here that should stop you from buying this game on switch. Nothing. For more depth I will go into the long winded version of my review. I wanted this game when it came out for PS5 series x and I was bummed the switch version took so long. I now think the time was worth it. I wanted to pre-order Hogwarts but given that it's ported from such stronger hardware I decided to wait on reviews to come in for switch, but I couldn't find any so I bought the deluxe addition shortly after release on switch and prayed that it was good. I had to finish up other games and I didn't want to be disappointed so it took two weeks to start Hogwarts. If all that you own is a switch and haven't played this on PS5/series x/s then the 7-15 seconds of load time going in some stores is not going to bother you. I sold my PS4 and I'm used to loading so it's going to take something egregious to bother me. This isn't it. I expected much much worse based on critics criticism. The graphics I hear have been pared down but coming from a PS5/series x it just seems like every time I think I know the limitations of the switch, the switch exceeds it. And maybe it's because I own no other system to compare this port to, but the graphics are detailed enough and nice enough for me. Again, I expected worse based on criticism. I noticed some pop in a couple times and maybe a small frame drop here and there but I've gotten that in just about every 3d game I've owned. Hogwarts Legacy itself is a good game full of magic and wizardry and I really like the vibe. Nice score, well voice acted, plenty of quests, side quests and things to see and do. Remembering which spells is which is the hardest thing for me, but that's a me issue not a Hogwarts Legacy or developer issue. So I'm going to end this by saying that this is a really good switch port of a phenomenal game that I really didn't think the switch could handle. To say it comes from such stronger hardware and lands on a 6+ year old handheld in such good condition is very good, very good indeed. 9.25/10

Star Ocean: The Second Story R

I really like Star Ocean the 2nd story R but it has some sticking points that keep me from giving it a 9 or 10. Things I like are the photorealistic world. It's really beautiful. Really. The musical score is majestic and grand. The voice overs are ok. I like that when you level up, your hp and mp go to the new max without you resting. The battle system is ok too. Things I don't like include the 2d sprites of the characters and enemies on the photorealistic world. I know everybody is doing it and some people like it and usually i'm one of them but for this game I don't like it. I don't like the use of voiceovers with captions in the middle of the screen preventing me from viewing the beautiful graphics with no option to turn them off. I understand the captions when there is no voiceover maybe being there, but the voiceovers are clear and there is no option to turn off the captions and instead of being at the top or bottom they are in the middle of the screen forcing you to read more than listen. I don't like how they explain how the game works on a detailed page on the screen but don't roll it out in a way where you can practice the button and apply it which would be more beneficial. You have to remember what you read or study the tutorial. I don't like the idea of monsters spawning and respawning and attacking me in areas I'm trying to clear. If I save the game or go in a town, then sure, respawn but while I'm clearing an area spawn and respawn around me? No. All these things are jarring, preventing me from fully immersing myself in the game and some of them could have been addressed in production. None of this is game breaking or will stop me from playing it. Overall the game is good though and I would give it a solid 8.25 out of 10. So for the purposes of this it gets an 8

Tried to contact Blizzard but that's just as much of a run around as being stuck at the looping log in screen. Glad I bought it on sale for 14$ I don't mind losing. Tried for an hour before deleting game and revoking Nintendo's permission to give blizzard anything. I knew I would have a problem with this game and I did. Don't buy. Edit. Redownloaded the game and tried again 5 hours later. This time it worked and i was able to start the game. Wow what an old, ugly, slow game. Total waste of my time and effort. Diablo 2 resurrected? Not impressed with this game. Much like fire emblem engage, another turn based strategy game, advance wars reboot doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it a turn based war strategy game or a childish comedy'? I don't like the direction this mashup went in and it's hard to take this game as serious as the game wants me to when they are blending jokes, the art style, and the story, and they are all on separate pages, in different books. This game is confused on what it wants to be, and as a result, I'm confused on what it is or who it's supposed to cater to. I also don't like the tutorial giving me a bunch of information all at once, then putting me in the game and expecting me to remember everything that was said. Some of the troops look alike and I found myself almost getting wiped out because I was putting them in the wrong spots because I confused one for another. I also don't like how when I'm taking over a city I have to during each turn tell my units to take over that city. Seems like if I put a unit on a city, that should be a given, or at least tell them once and they figure it out every round, but this game wants me to micromanage them but the art style and jokes don't lend itself to that serious ****. Sorry, advance wars this is a no

First my long diatribe setting up the game. PS3/xbox360 was my favorite generation of videogames. And Nintendo understands that by selling basically a walking PS3. When I see 2k I automatically think of micro transactions. So I read the title of this game as Lego microtransactions drive. Which is very appropriate. It's a vehicular combat kart racer that transformers it's vehicles based on the surface you are driving on. Exactly like sonic and Sega All-stars racing transformed from the PS3 and last year's Nickelodeon kart racers 3 slime speedway which could run on a PS3. Graphically it's on par with the above mentioned games and that's average to good. It looks like a PS3 title and you can take that anyway you want to. It may look better on other systems. But it is colorful, vibrant, and kinda nice as a Legos title, so it's appropriate. It has hd rumble and that's always a plus for me. I like the racing, even the rubber banding which keeps things competitive, I like the open world which I wished the other 2 games I mentioned were. I like the music. And they are always cracking jokes which I find funny. I like the customizing and building a vehicle from Legos, it's quite extensive. But it's finicky. I like the transforming. I don't like the microtransactions but I did buy the game knowing exactly what I was getting into. I don't like how I'm sure they had the whole game complete then decided to chop it up as added seasonal dlc like Mario kart did and charge 40$. They could have rewarded you by adding the microtransactions as content instead you are rewarding them with more of your money for having paid full price for the game. I don't like some of the long to me loading times. If I seem to be a little underwhelmed by this game it is because I've seen it done before in the games I mentioned above, and this is more of the same. I'm overall happy but I feel like they could have raised the bar a bit more than just an open world. They are definitely trying to get paid like they raised the bar

Trinity Trigger

I really like this game. Trinity trigger is an easy to get into, easily digested action rpg. Instead of first or third person it's more isometric, more like diablo 3. If you've played any more recent rpg's then you will easily grasp the story. The visuals are nice, the sound and gameplay are good, it's mostly voice acted and well optimized for the switch with no screen tearing or slowdowns during the game or cut-scenes. It's multiplayer is unlocked after a certain section of the story about 7 hours in. It could have been even better had they implemented hd rumble. My dislike with the game is there is only one difficulty and even though I'm not through with the game I don't see anything suggesting a new game plus. And at 49.99$ for the base game and 59.99$ for the deluxe, which I bought, that adds in all the characters scenarios, plus more accessories and things you can buy ingame through the switch store it really feels kinda greedy by the developers. But hey, anything to make a buck. This game could easily cost you 80-100$. And it's only 15-20 hours which means it will take me 30-40 hours to complete it. Overall when I look at everything that is trinity trigger I would give this game a 8.5 out of 10. Because it's a high quality game during the one or two times you play it. But if you're gaming on a budget this may not be the best return on your investment unless you catch it on sale eventually. Then it's a must buy

What a stupid game. Grindy as hell The game itself tactically may be ok but wading through the dumb dialogue is awful. Awful. Background music is awful, story is awful, erased it off my switch immediately for fear that the mind numbingly dumbness would spread to me. No thanks. A waste of money. Glad I got it on sale. I have currently bought 3 of the 4 disgaea games on the switch thinking maybe I will get a good one and I haven't found one I like. Not that I don't like tactics games or roleplaying games, I just don't like THESE tactics and roleplaying games. What are you guys smoking to give this game a 8-10

Boring game. I liked the graphics and low loading screen but seriously 49$ and no voice acting? I guess the game is ok. I guess. I was still bored while playing this. I don't understand why they brought it back. They did nothing to strengthen it. For a 2017 game I guess it's ok if you have nothing better to play but here in 2023 I was not amused with It. I bought it with Chrono cross and ruined king. All were disappointing. Nintendo I wasted 100 bucks on bull**** and I'm playing the same games I was playing before I bought this ****

Boring bland game. I bought it on sale after a supposed patch job 13$. SQUARE ENIX you owe 15$. Yup I'm charging you 2$ for wasting my ****ing time with utter bull****

I found ruined king a waste of 30$. Not only did it do a poor job of introducing me to it's different lanes it didn't tell me how to heal my party and the load screens were to often and lasted to long for I don't know what reasons. It seemed complicated for the hell of being complicated and it destroyed the game for me. Utterly confusing. This game would have done better as a typical turned based with no frills and less muck. Awful

There are a few things wrong with ni no Kuni 2 on the switch, like slowdown in the over world and I play it handheld so they could have made it where you could adjust the size of the words on screen, or just made the words bigger. If it's tough on my eyes on the OLED I can't imagine it on the switch lite. Yet the game is so darn charming I can't resist but continue to play it. And it's portable. It has a lot of systems to learn and I originally played the first 15 hours on PS4 but gave up on it because I found it confusing but I do remember wishing that I had instead bought it for the switch. It did sit on my switch wishlist for several months before I took the plunge and I bought it after beating Grandia of the Grandia hd collection and I needed another adventure to go on and Grandia 2 didn't do it for me. Justin and Evan have a lot in common. Young and plucky and full of life setting off on an adventure to save the world or in this case, build a kingdom. I love the gameplay as far as fighting goes, and the graphics, I'm not the biggest fan when it comes to the army battles but I'm intrigued by the kingdom building and character recruiting process. There is a game of delayed gratification the game sinks into where everytime it seems you have a task there are tasks to do before you can actually complete the one you actually set out to do. Ms Boddly I'm looking at you. But I've had a fun time with the game. I find that it's much better than ni no kuni wrath of the white witch which I also bought twice and I look forward to spending more time with young Evan and company. 9.25 out of 10. This switch port doesn't hold ni no Kuni 2 revenant kingdom from being a real winner

First off I am very very many years older than the target demographic for a nickelodeon cartoon. But I am familiar with the teenage mutant ninja turtles and Aang and maybe a couple other nickelodeon characters, like sponge Bob or ren and stimpy. However I did buy their kart racer 1 and 2 so I was going to give 3 a shot, at the right price at some point, and that's not the 49$ and 59$ they were originally asking. But on sale, sure I will bite. I was intrigued by looking at the YouTube gameplay and realized it reminded me more of sonic and Sega All-stars racing transformed minus sonic than Mario kart. And since I've been wanting sonic transformed on switch since I've owned a switch and not the horrible sonic racing game Sega actually gave, I was even more intrigued. Well slime speedway 3 went on sale and I bought it, and yep it's a cross between sonic transformed and Mario kart. The cars don't transform into aircrafts, but they do transform into boats with a lot of water racing and of course it's missing sonic. But other than that I think it's a very good kart racing game. It has 3 speeds and I can see how kids will get a kick out of this, and adults too. The voice overs are often and AWFUL so I turned down the voice volume but the graphics are really nice and I don't know if it had any frame rate issues when it released but I have noticed no problems now and I'm playing single player in handheld mode. It's typical kart racing and I like that the gas and slide are mapped like most racing game buttons. To the R and L triggers. Not like Mario kart. I like that they gave me actual human characters to race as at the very start of the game and not just SpongeBob. I like everything this game does and I have and will be playing it a lot as there is a ton of stuff to unlock. Like I said, I'm older than their target audience and Im not familiar with all the nickelodeon characters but I must say, if you can get this game on sale or you like kart racing or you were a fan of sonic transformed this is the next best thing.

Grandia HD Collection

I put 105 hours in so far and beat Grandia. The Grandia HD collection has exceeded all of my expectations on what videogames should be and I'm mad at myself for letting it sit on my wishlist so long. Excellent collection. I'm not sure what they were like before the patches and updates but where they are now is exceptional. Especially Grandia. It's been a fantastic journey. I uncovered no flaws, botched saves, skipping or frame drops. The writing is cringe and the voice acting is bad, but the characters are lovable and the game has a lot of heart. Outside of final fantasy 7 and shining force, Grandia is my favorite rpg. There is no need for quality of life adjustments like faster battles, auto saves, or quicker summonings like some people have complained because battles and magic take place rather quickly and save spots are always within reach and right before a boss battle. There is no reason to make the games any easier so if I oversaw this collection release I wouldn't opt for qol adjustments either. Grandia 2 however is a different problem as it has already crashed on me once at the very first save point, it has forgotten my settings and I don't really care for Ryudo's attitude after seeing Justin's. He grows on you though. However it is 3d and looks really good. The writing is still cringe, but the voice acting is better. It could use some speed adjustments to the spell casting and their brief victory speech sometimes gets on my nerves. Grandia is a 10/10. Grandia 2 is a 7.75/10

Front Mission 1st Remake

User Scoredrewezbreezee
Dec 1, 2022
Nostalgia is one hell of a thing. I really wanted a new front mission game to play on my switch and it looks like remakes are what I'm going to get. The graphics are nice and a LOT better than I was expecting. The rain, fire, and smoke pop on the OLED screen. I don't like all the menu hopping and think its borderline excessive trying to buy, sell, and setup your wanzers. This could have been streamlined. They also could have added a tutorial explaining what weapons and items (different numbers) do but I caught on pretty quick. However I can also see how it could get confusing if you've never played a front mission game before. The story is dark, but it's a tactics game about war so I totally get it. And appreciate it. I started the game on corporal which was the middle of the three options available in the beginning and I'm assuming that it's the normal mode. It is tough enough to give me a challenge and make me think but didn't beat me down. There are tougher modes to unlock I'm guessing after you beat the game and 2 different scenarios to play. I wish it were voice acted but at 34.99 I guess it's budget didn't warrant it. The music is remixed or old school and ranges from getting on my nerves to nice. Gladly the tracks change often or can be turned off. The hd rumble is there. And it's nice because it's simulating war I really wanted this thing to shake. I don't like how much your wanzers miss shots and I'm not really sure how it's decided other than a random number generator inside certain perameters. The game is not broken tho so that's a good thing, it also doesn't stutter or miss frames. Everything runs as expected keeping loading fairly quick. And it's easy to see and detect what is what even in handheld mode. It's more or less what I wanted so I can overlook all the things it does that I don't like. Like I said, nostalgia is one hell of a thing. I wanted front mission and I got front mission for better or worse. For giving me what I wanted, which was a pretty good front mission game graphically and not messing up the core experience I more than feel it earns an 8 out of 10 because when I'm playing it I am all smiles. However I don't think that this game will bring in many new fans or replace Pokemon as a top seller, but for fans of the series, it's nice enough. It may seem like I have a lot of complaints for a game I gave an 8 to, but it's front mission and it stuck to it's source material so I knew what to expect and for that 1st remake met or exceeded what I expected it to be and my quibbles over what it's not are negligible

Pokemon Violet

My review is handheld only. I don't play in docked mode. I don't even know if my dock works. Switch OLED. I've put in many hours into Pokemon Violet and played so much today that I'm physically tired. 41 of my 140 friends bought Violet/Scarlet so far. 90% have put in over 5 hours. 70% over 10 hours. The only game more people on my list bought and played more is Mario kart. Everybody is playing and I can't get Pokemon off my mind. So many Pokemon to catch. I get geeked when I discover a new Pokemon I haven't caught yet. I'm excited. I bought Pokemon sword and shield and hated them, bought Pokemon Arceus and hated it to. I haven't played a Pokemon game this much since the original. I had to deduct a point because some of the frame drops from time to time and some pop in, but none of this is game breaking, especially with what all this game is trying to achieve. It's a pretty game, with weather effects and personally I liked the graphics. This world is overflowing with life and sounds. I also liked how easy it is to throw a poke ball, I liked seeing my character, my Pokemon and the enemy Pokemon. I liked that I could call my Pokemon to quick fight in the area and collect level up points. I liked the music. I liked the hd rumble and wish they used it more. I don't like how my Pokemon evolves, but that's my fault because I chose him. So Pikachu is now my quarterback Pokemon and I benched quaxly. I love everything about this game, it's freedom, it's open world structure. I didn't like the five hour tutorial of reading and wish Pokemon would graduate into voice acting. Is it perfect? No, but when you've got me daydreaming about your game, I'm going to say you did it well and when I add all the things I like with all the things I don't like I would give the game a solid 8.5/10

The are some good things to new tales. The graphics and voiceovers. It runs well on switch And that's it. The bad the story goes off the rails in parts, more stupid men in borderlands games. The game is clearly written and made by gearbox not telltale. They did Rhys dirty again, no he is not playable. The jokes are either not funny or tasteless to me and unnecessary, the writing is cringe. I don't like this group of characters. They didn't motivate me to care until the absolute end and by then it was to late because I just dont care for forced empathy. Things happening off screen that should be on screen. I'm unimpressed by the "choices" and turnouts, it feels like they didn't matter, it really lacked the interactivity of the first tales game. It's nice to look at but it's all style, no substance. To put it plainly to you, this is just a story that gearbox wants to tell you for 40$. Just refuse to be told this particular tale until you find it on sale. if you're smart you will wait to buy it. You're not missing anything.

I enjoy everything about this game, and I **** at first person shooters. So if I can play it and enjoy it, that's saying a lot. Excellent port. Looks great runs smoothly and a gameplay loop that makes it worth it. I'm starting with the first one and slowly but surely I will make it through the collection. All I can say after putting 35 hours into borderlands is that it's worth every penny. I also play it only in handheld with the joycons

A gritty dirty beat em up in a grungy city. Midnight fight express has you unlocking skills and upgrading them, you can change your appearance and clothing, see and view your progression, replay levels, and get achievements. It uses hd rumble. I liked it. Thought it was well made coming from a developer I was unfamiliar with. My complains is that it could have been totally voice acted but then it probably wouldn't be 19.99 and it gives you the tutorial once and throws the game mechanics at you fast, and though you can replay previous levels and there is a playground where you can hone your skills you can't replay the tutorial level. Other than that, I think it's pretty good and just as good as other beat em ups I've bought recently like teenage mutant ninja turtles and streets of rage 4. And that's saying a lot

I pre ordered rune factory 5 not because of same gender based marriage (I see others wanted that but that wasn't why I bought it or am into) but because I wanted a dungeon crawling, rpg, lite farming sim to waste time on. I may have played one many many years ago I don't really remember. I'm just now clearing out my backlog and wanted to load this up and see if I had missed anything. I have to say that I don't like it very much. To many systems to miss, mechanics that are confusing, and tutorials that go on forever but still don't explain enough. It's more confusing than it needs to be. And at times I felt overwhelmed by ALL I needed to learn and remember. I have other games I'm playing and things I have to remember, thank you very much. Going to the internet daily to tell me what the game should have but didn't kills the experience and like others have said, bad framerate, terrible, repetitive music, poor graphics, and unused areas that don't need to exist don't help at all, along with a stupid generic story, dumb dialogue and visuals that made my head hurt after a few hours.. The menus are badly designed, and juggling all the games items is poor. This game is only for people who have played other games in the series and now want the latest one. And those willing to just overlook all it's many flaws in order to court somebody of the same sex in a video game. Everybody else should avoid. Color me not impressed. I will not be buying another one. 65 dollars just wasted on a chore simulator

Edit: because you will put 20-30 hours into the game even on the relaxed mode in the story I find it's definitely worth the 20$.. The only thing lacking is music. A medieval match 3 about helping a wizard with a dragon, with multiple difficulties and modes, pleasant, crisp graphics, 100 levels, bonuses for playing daily, trophies to win and claim and a small file size, this game has really shocked me easily becoming one of my favorites on switch. I'm Going and getting storm tale 1 to see if I can catch lightening in a bottle twice. All It needs is a demo of the first 5 levels which is it's tutorial to entice people to try it. Only deducting because the soundtrack needed more songs but what is there is appropriate. Also not really sure if it's worth 20 dollars, I bought it on sale because I couldn't find out anything about it and wouldn't risk it otherwise but your mileage might vary especially if you played storm tale 1 and already know you like it

I also played online. My wifi comes from my cellphone provider. I noticed no frame rate drops, lags, or clipping. Also the font size on the oled screen I can barely read. Add a point if you play it on your TV. Other than that it has nice detailing and good hd rumble feedback

Ultra Street Fighter IV
9
User Scoredrewezbreezee
Jun 3, 2014
Exciting. Brimming with vivid lights, colors and sounds. Understand this, I have bought every release of street fighter 4. From the original, to super, to arcade edition. So I wasn't really geeked to find Capcom tapping into the street fighter 4 well again. Then again, because of the popularity of streetfighter 4, and its upgrades, I can understand another 15$ upgrade from super to ultra streetfighter 4 would reach the masses more easily than a completely new 60$ game. I'm not happy, but I understand. The first thing I did was take the new characters for a ride. Rolento, Decapre, Elena, Hugo, and Poison. Again a bit of unhappiness set in as I have already played with or seen these characters in previous Capcom titles, so they are not completely "new" to me. But whatever. My fun wasn't had in playing these characters. I am more of a akuma or cody kind of guy. I more wanted to see their movesets, how they blended in and what I should expect out of each of these new characters. Going online was a different affair. What I saw out of the players in the lobbies was less ken, ryu, and oni's, and more trying out of the new characters, mixed in with other peoples favorites, gave me more variety in my fights. And that is where the fun really kicked in. From the total number of characters to choose from 44, the number of different fighting styles, the new "ultra" moves, tweaks to the gameplay, vibrant character costumes, new stages, it was hard for me to believe that the original streetfighter 4 was released 5 years ago, and it looks, plays and sounds on par with any of the more recent 2d fighters. From jojo's allstar battle, to blazblue chrono phantasma (which yes I bought both of) Ultra streetfighter 4 has had time to perfect its formula and comes across as a step up from these two games. The speed of ultra, the tight controls. I am not angry because I felt that the computer did not recognize my moves for a win. I truly understand it was my fault, I didn't input the move on time or correctly. And once you recognize how perfect the controls are, you stop blaming the computer and recognize it is in fact you. Learning starts to set in. Not just guessing. Online I guess either the kinks aren't completely worked out or other peoples connections lagged a bit. I noticed "waiting on opponents" signs sometimes in battles. My ps3 took a tad longer to connect everybody together, even though I tried to only play in rooms with full bars. There are still rage quitters. But I am glad (so far) that the amount of spammers is way down thanks to the Red focus which allows you to absorb an attack and launch a counter attack. When used effectively helps to keep people honest from the same moves repeated over and over. Between the red focus, the ultra moves, there is also the delayed wake-up. If you are knocked to the ground, and you know you will get caught by a combo or fireball, you "delay" getting up meaning the timing of your opponent gets thrown off causing them to miss. These three things together seem more focused on hardcore competitors to use, but they add an amount of depth and unpredictability to an already deep fighting game. As long as you have a desire to learn, the game is prepared to teach you. Unfortunately I didn't see any trials (challenge mode) for the new characters. Basically you have to train with them to learn their moves verses the challenges you can go through with the other streetfighter 4 or super streetfighter 4 characters. If Capcom wants a totally complete fighter they will patch these in for the new characters in the future. To wrap this up, whether you are new to streetfighter, you moved on, or you are a seasoned pro. The amount of new content, tight gameplay, plethora of counters, super moves, and ultras. Whether its new characters, tweaked characters, or new stages, Capcom has re-written the book on content to add on for its 15$ price tag. Is is worth it? Heck Yeah! Now Capcom quit milking streetfighter 4 and give us streetfighter 5 already. 9 out of 10. But here's to Capcom releasing a street fighter 5 in the future and leaving street fighter 4 alone.
