A fantastic historical / interactive / playable document and sometimes irregular, expressed in its good and bad moments.

Clumsy design holds it back from true greatness. [Christmas 2010, p.46]
Its reach exceeds its grasp, but at least Disney Epic Mickey is reaching. Occasionally it brushes its fingertips up against something amazing that might have been.

This game is the definition of a blind man gaining sight for the first time, words cannot describe how great this game is

Epic Mickey is pure magic and makes you realise what we're missing from today's society and why Walt Disney's cartoons were just so good.

Epic Mickey is a great game. Moral decisions, the paint-brush all these things are brilliant ideas. But there are serious issues with the camera. Why didn't they fix those camera problems? Anyways Disney Epic Mickey is a wonderful Wii game that must be remade for Xbox 360 and PS3.

A legendary character and some really good ideas are mixed in this far-from-perfect experience, somehow spoiled by pace, camera and controls. Still, at times it's so inspired and funny that all the flaws just disappear. Try before you buy.

If you are willing to put up with an incredibly frustrating camera and problematic combat in order to experience a rich world and entertaining story then give Epic Mickey a try.

If not for the clumsy camera it would be a timeless classic, but with the camera Epic Mickey can be dated at approximately 1997.

Even though I cursed and swore my way through the bulk of the game, the characters and the story moved me in a way that very few games do. But, epic disappointment or epic tale, it definitely earns its name.

Nevermind these heightened expectations, though: even on its own merits, Epic Mickey is a platformer that feels about a generation behind, though one with just enough flashes of inspiration to keep you constantly aware of its wasted potential.

In my humble opinion it's best Mickey game ever after Epic Mickey 2 ofc, especially in its time it was amazing, just look at the graphics and gameplay, it aged very well.

Epic Mickey has intriguing ideas but disappoints with sluggish controls, camera issues, and generic designs for enemies and levels.

The game is very below average. Upon introduction the basic gameplay seems very promising, but doesn't really evolve past what you have done 2 hours ago when you booted the game. The repetitive gameplay makes the game feel much longer [in a bad way] and is really wasted potential. The combat is terrible. The game does not have a lock on feature which results in battles with multiple enemies dragging on much longer than expected. Now the story is so - so and predictable. I mean it's Disney. You know all the loose ends will come together magically in the end after cliched valiant efforts succeed eventually. So one can't really give points for story unless its an RPG which Epic Mickey is not. Now I don't understand why the camera is getting a lot of flack because it certainly does the job and no platformer is without camera flaws. Sure it's not automated. That's why the player must control it while playing to get an optimal view of their surroundings. It shouldn't be a problem if you're a seasoned gamer. Overall EM is just another platformer with a "story" that never gets past run and jump. The create/destroy mechanic doesn't flesh out which leaves you with one bland experience.

Epic Mickey is nothing more than a few good ideas thrown into a sub-par platformer. Even with the vast catalogue of characters Disney has to offer, the world still seems really flat and uninspired. Pair this with the poor platforming controls, the wonky camera, and the over-simplified paint/thinner puzzles, and you have a bad game. The best part of Epic Mickey is the concept art, which shows us that this game could have had a cool style if taken to a slightly different direction.
