Dead or Alive 6, while providing a few features a modern fighting game should have, also disappointingly leaves out many important elements, offers very little new content, and forces returning players to purchase the title again. As such, while the title is a solid new release, it's only recommended to new players who don't mind the missing features.
Dead or Alive 6 Last Round brings the fighting game to the new generation with a lackluster offering. There is no discount for owners of the base version, and few items are included in the package — with the rest requiring additional purchases — meaning even those who had already bought all the DLC will have to pay up to complete their collection. Furthermore, the novel features are minimal and not particularly significant. It is still worth a look, however, for the fast-paced, fun combat, which remains the game's greatest highlight.
If you're completely new to Dead or Alive, it's worth giving this a go due to the fun fighting mechanics, but DoA 6 Last Round does little to improve upon the original.

It would have been much easier for Koei Tecmo to bring DOA Venus Vacation PRISM to the West than to make this garbage game... Besides censoring the female fighters... Want clothes??? Go to a convent.

This is, quite literally, the first time in my life I've encountered a fighting game belonging to this franchise. Having no prior experience with it, I must admit that the title surprised me in a very pleasant and positive way. The first thing that stands out is the extremely high level of difficulty the game imposes, especially when it comes to understanding and correctly executing special moves and combos. This is a video game that feels quite physical and is extremely complex to master from the moment you pick up the **** depth of its mechanics is evident when observing the variety of situations it offers in the arena: the management of fighting stances, the possibility of landing effective blows from behind the opponent's back, and, above all, that constant technical exchange of holds against holds. All of these elements make it a difficult title to fully understand and master.Furthermore, when it comes to putting theory into practice and executing strategies in real time, the game introduces a central system based on the dynamics of "rock, paper, scissors." This mechanic completely alters the rules of the game, making each match utterly unpredictable when facing other fighters, as the opponent's mindset is as crucial as the actual button presses.Considering this game has been around for many years, it's clear that a large portion of the active community has already mastered it. This creates a serious problem in the ranked mode, which unfortunately is far from balanced. The matchmaking system makes the mistake of pitting a novice against experienced players with streaks of ten or more fights without a single loss.Under this unfavorable circumstances, the most difficult trophy to obtain in the entire game was, without a doubt, winning five ranked matches in a row. This disparity in the online mode makes reaching for this achievement an even more arduous and frustrating experience. However, I must reiterate that, as my first experience with the intellectual property, the overall experience was quite good. I know perfectly well that the most die-hard fans of this franchise categorically state that this sixth installment is the worst of them all. I, frankly, having never played any other title in the series before, completely lack that point of comparison. However, evaluating it strictly from the perspective of a new user or a player just entering this universe, I can say with complete certainty that it is one of the most difficult fighting games to understand on the current market.Being an overly physical combat simulator, the movement of the characters across the arena often feels slow, sluggish, and heavy. In this game, the only real way to gain speed and dynamism is through the correct execution of combos; it is precisely there, when chaining together blows, that you feel the game truly flow and demonstrates its potential to offer much more fast-paced and exciting gameplay.Visually, the costumes of absolutely all the characters (including, quite rightly, the male fighters) are quite interesting and extremely well done. They boast a very attractive overall aesthetic, although it's undeniable that the true protagonists and center of attention of this game are the so-called waifus. The female designs are highly appealing and aesthetically perfect, to the point that it's practically impossible not to stare at them during the first few matches. Fortunately, as the hours pass, you get used to their presence and they cease to be a distraction from the gameplay. In conclusion, and although I never had the chance to try the original PlayStation 4 version, I must mention that Dead or Alive 6: The Last Round features a combat system that I find quite solid. While the gameplay can sometimes feel a bit stiff, with consistent practice it can be mastered quite well. The title offers a generous number of single-player modes, and I found the story mode to be well-structured, perfectly fulfilling its purpose for someone like me, who knew absolutely nothing about the lore or the characters' backstories. I think this is a game that fully delivers on its promise of entertainment, providing a great time in front of the screen and the ability to keep you hooked for hours. However, it does have one peculiarity: once you master a specific character, it's difficult to go back. RATE 7.5/10

Dead or Alive 6 – Last Round is the best way to play DOA6. It is the most complete, most polished and most balanced edition, bringing all the content together for an experience far superior to the original launch. For fans of 3D fighting games, it is fast-paced, technical and visually stunning. For those who have played DOA6 before, this version is finally what the game deserved to be.

It has been seven years since Koei Tecmo even indicated that it saw a future in Dead or Alive, so frankly it’s just a relief that Dead or Alive 6 Last Round happened at all. While Dead or Alive 7 was the really exciting recent news, this is the definitive version of a brilliant, funny, sexy, mechanically entertaining fighting game and I’ve loved stepping back into its ring.

Dead or Alive 6: Last Round is a strong fighter that features a wonderful triangle system, adding an extra layer of depth to battles. Although the story mode lacks the focus and structure of its peers, it makes up for this with the wealth of content on offer. The training mode is particularly impressive, offering clear insight into mechanics and combos for both newcomers and veterans. Fights are tight and fluid, thanks in part to the strong animation, although its age does show, particularly in the texture work. With a free-to-play option available, it’s certainly worth checking out, but it doesn’t quite manage to compete with its biggest rivals when you step into the arena.

With no meaningful modern improvements to its online modes, this is easy to skip if competitive play is what matters most to you.

Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is the definitive version of Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja's fast-paced fighter, but there are some aspects of it that are a little disappointing, such as low quality story scenes and a lack of cross-play.

Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is the best version of Dead or Alive 6, a game I enjoy playing even today, but it doesn't do enough all these years later. Maybe it will be an easier release to recommend in a few months, but right now it is hard to even comprehend what made Koei Tecmo re-release the same game with almost nothing of value and not offer any sort of upgrade path. I think if you've managed to disappoint someone who owns basically every season pass on two different platforms, the re-release is a big miss. I enjoyed Dead or Alive 6 years ago, but cannot recommend Dead or Alive 6 Last Round for anyone but those who want a current generation version of Dead or Alive 6 and are willing to deal with every issue that the original had back in 2019.

This should have been a more generous bundle, with all content included, a tag-team mode, and rollback netcode. Instead it’s a cash grab with scant new features to justify its inexplicable existence. Dead or Alive deserves better.

DOA6 Last Round is about as cash grabby as it gets. I never played the PS4 version so I picked this up. The fighting is solid but can be a little stiff feeling. There are plenty of modes for solo players which is great cause there's no way this game has any online competitive presence without crossplay or rollback netcode. Just don't play story mode expecting much as its one of the weakest most confusing ones I've experienced in a long time. I'm glad there's a plethora of costumes to unlock however the vast majority is behind a paywall. Overall this is an alright distraction but how long it'll keep my attention after going through the solo modes once is anybody's guess.

This is the exact same game as the base game. Not only that, but you have to pay for any skins you've already purchased AGAIN and they cost MORE MONEY THAN BEFORE! I am not even giving this game a 1, it gets a 0. Absolutely blatant money grab and scam, how is this even allowed?

COMICALLY outdated product in 2026No crossplayno rollbackNickle and diming your loyal fans who supported your already dead franchiseno switch releasereselling everything we paid forno gameplay updates or QOL features40$?What are we thinking here? are you trying to kill the hype for dead or alive 7 on purpose? Koei Tecmo, DO BETTER THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. With Virtua fighter 6 looking extremely promising I don't see any way people would play the dead or alive series over VF or Tekken

Propably the biggest scam of the moment. Okay, first just know that despite its cool gameplay and visuals, DOA6 is the worst entry in the franchise. The mechanics to unlock costumes are equivalent to a cheap Gacha game. Now, this "new" version is exactly the same thing than DOA6, except that... you have to repay? I bought Mai and Kula 2 months ago, need to repay them. And of course, need to repay the whole game, that still does not has cross play or rollback netcode, still has the same glitches since intial release in 2019, and brings NOTHING new (except new lighting on 1 single stage which adds lag even in stages that do not use it...). You could have some fun with it if you never played the game before, for others, do not waste your time (and money!) in this absurd "Last Scam" edition.
