The absolute best fighting game available on the GameCube.

There's a certain point in gaming where you just stop thinking about semantics of criticism and let a moment take you. It's probably after Nightmare scrapes his hulking sword across a castle wall with sparks nipping at Talim's feet as she runs up the wall ready to slice back at her aggressor. No two-digit number can validate the pure exhilaration of that moment.

Fluid controls, good graphics and sound, and gameplay that rocks the gaming world proclaim this one a winner. The Weapon Master and other modes will keep you busy for a while, and the multiplayer fights seem to never get old.

The controls in Soul Calibur II are nearly flawlessly executed.

Grate game when i was a child i played a lot with my family and the Graphics still holds up til this present day

Soul Calibur 2 is the quintessential GameCube fighting game. Excellent graphics for the time. A tightly balanced roster. Great fighting modes. A solid amount of single player content, with a lot of unlockable content. Weapons that offer different perks or weaknesses help keep the game fresh. Every version is top notch, but I only really grew up playing the GameCube version.

7- Great. I find this style of combat more engaging than the 2d fighters like Guilty Gear or Mortal Kombat. Its so easy to sink hours and hours into this game especially if you’ve got people to play with. Theres some fun single player gauntlets to go through and as you improve and get out of button mashing it feels so good.

By itself, it is a amazing game, but once you compare it to Soul Calibur 3. There is no competition. Also, despite the gamecube having better graphics and links, the gamecube controller doesn't feel right.

Graphically this is an absolute masterpiece, I mean it still looks unbelievable in 2024. The gameplay is lacking however. I find these fighting games dull and repetitive. Yes there is a story mode, but it still just the same old fights. There are so many moves but you end up just repeating the ones that work, again and again. Not for me.
