Jedynka lepsza.

While still being a good game it's definitely a major step down from Dark Souls 1. The biggest issue in this game by far is the gank. Pretty much every area in this game is flooded with enemies, it's common to be fighting a 5v1 or more extremely often. If you think you can lure enemies 1 by 1 that won't work most of the time since enemies have a very long aggro range. The enemy variety per level isn't very good, it makes it feel like the difficulty was artificially increased by just adding a bunch of enemies close together. Rather than dodging and learning enemy movesets the optimal play just ends up being the following - 1. Get 1-2 hits in, run and let the gank chase you, get 1-2 hits in, run, and repeat. It makes the areas very tedious and frustrating. If you thought you could just run past some enemies like you could in DS1 oh boy would you be wrong, because you can get interrupted while interacting with doors, ladders, and levers so you are basically forced to kill every enemy which ends up being like 5-10 enemies per 10 seconds of progress. The next issue is the bosses, they are laughably easy and boring. Pretty much every boss in this game is 1 of 3 things - 1. A big dude in armor with a sword, 2. Gank, 3. A boss copied from DS1. The next issue is the boss runbacks which are by far the worst out of all the souls games, two boss runbacks are particularly bad and they both force you to fight 15-10 enemies that are the equivalent to the black knights from DS1 on steroids, and you cannot run past them, most boss runbacks don't allow you to run past at least half the enemies. There are some exceptions to this but they are pretty far and in-between which is very unfortunate. Some enemies in this game are also miserable to fight namely the headless assassins that will frequently stun-lock and instakill you, and pretty much any gank. The DLC is also hot garbage, it's just more gank, and more bosses that are just dudes in armor with a sword. The level design was also a step down from the base game. Let me tell you about the worst boss runback that leads to one of the laziest bosses in the DLC. To access this area, you have to run for 5 minutes to access the bonfire, and then the area leading up to the boss makes tomb of the giants look like the best level design ever created. The entire area is literally just a snowy field with a blizzard that blinds you 90% of the time, you have to blindly run through for around 10 minutes until you hopefully stumble upon the boss area on accident and there is no bonfire, meaning if you die on the way have fun running another 10 minutes blind! On top of that there are these ice horses that will spawn with AN INFINITE AGGRO RANGE (not exaggerating) you cannot outrun them, they will always hit you without fail even if you run non stop forcing you to fight them unless you use summons to draw aggro away. And once you finally get to the boss guess what it is, IT'S LITERALLY 2 CLONES OF THE FIRST BOSS YOU FIGHT IN THE SAME DLC! Same move set and everything. So you do all this work to fight a non unique boss that are just clones, so you pay for the DLC to access extra content and they can't even offer you that for the most punishing and miserable boss runback. I would rather navigate tomb of the giants 10 times before doing this part of the game ever again. Now that the major negatives are out of the way lets start with the positives. This game has amazing weapon variety and you can easily respec your build, for sure the best out of all the souls games not even close. My next favorite thing is the level design, it's not as good as the interconnectedness as the first half of DS1 but most levels are fun and cool in their own unique way, I absolutely loved the areas whenever I wasn't busy dealing with gank. A lot of people hate the fact that you have to level up agility to be able to dodge properly but if you know about it beforehand it isn't a huge issue as long as you upgrade agility enough. Also the hub is the best out of all the souls games, Majula is peak. The vibe is also great in this game, the game still feels fun despite it's major issues. It's for sure the worst souls game but still a decent game. I wouldn't call it bad, I wouldn't call it great. I'd say it's just fine. I heard that the base game is a lot better with the gank so maybe play that instead, you aren't missing out on the DLC, the DLC is trash except a couple areas and a few of the bosses are cool. If the game was just the DLC I would confidently say it's a bad game. Overall, I would only recommend playing this after you beat all the other soulsborne games. I played this as my second souls game after beating DS1 and now I have beaten all 3 and have almost finished Bloodborne and this is by FAR the hardest one but for all the wrong reasons. If I could go back I would play all the soulsborne games and save this one for last. This game is like a toxic ex, I'm relieved it's over but sometimes I feel like going back.

Great franchise, great game.Every fan of Souls-like games has to play this **** beginners, you have to give it a chance; like all Souls-like games, it's difficult and frustrating at first, but it's a great game.

My favorite Dark Souls game by far! FD2 forces you to git gud. As you progress, each new level kicks your ass at first, then it clicks and it’s the best feeling. All the bosses are perfectly balanced. Amazing level design and shortcuts. I’ve even began to enjoy some of the run-backs because the combat is so fun once you master it. Plus the enemies stop respawning after a while, which is a nice touch. All of the negative reviews about this game are because people were trying to play it like it was dark souls 1 or 3. You have to adapt to its style. I also feel like a lot of the negative reviewers gave up before it clicked. I can’t believe I put off playing this game for so long because of the completely uncalled for hate this amazing game gets. It just beat this game yesterday for the first time and it has aged like a fine wine. 10/10 masterpiece **** that deserves a playthrough by any real gamer.

I’ve played all of FromSoftWare soulsborne games and Dark Souls2:SOTFS is, hands down the best game they’ve made so far. Absolutely loved it. I don’t really understand the criticisms of the amount enemies that attack you when all the games do the same thing. I will admit this game is very easy if you put most points into magic, strength and adaptability. If you do that, game is a breeze.

Don’t “skip Dark Souls 2” but I will say I absolutely hate this game. Excessive enemy placement and intentionally slow game play. Also no I frames when you open a **** chest or door. Still a souls game though so it’s good.

This is a top 3 game of all time for me but I am gonna be so real here I wanted to kill myself the entire time while playing it. Never in my life have I played a game where the devs go out of their way to make it crystal clear that they hate you, your family, your pets, everything about YOU! I would rather suppository an entire dinner plate straight up my rectum then play this game for another godforsaken minute. This is an absolute perfect game in a sense that they wanted you to feel like a helpless slack jawed knuckle dragger the entire game. The absolute worst hitboxes in any game ever, the absolute worst game mechanics in any game ever, and the absolute worst jank in any game ever. This game is an absolute must play because of how much it ****. This is a game for masochists or cucks, this game is like being cheated on by a partner of 10 years and still saying you love them and want to be with them. Dark Souls 2 is a hostile experience. This game doesn't respect you or value the time you put in it, this game doesn't reward you at all through your entire play through and spits in your face if you want to have fun.

What do you get when you combine bad faith losers who are terrible at games with a large YouTube presence? A 12-year-long grifter smear campaign against the best Souls game that continues to this day because confirmation-bias-addled NPCs can't make up their own opinions. If you dislike this game, you have a low IQ.

Not as bad as everyone says, really, but it really feels unifinished. The lore is great, bosses are meh, combat is innovative but lacks the impact of the previous games, areas are sometimes creative and other times really ganky and annoying. If you played before the newer souls games it will be very hard to get into this game. If you can overlook its flaws, however, it's a nice experience. The scholar of the first sin edition is actually the best way to play the game, since it improves the games visuals instead of being a lazy port like Dark Souls Remastered.

The worst fromsoft game I've played so far. Every single aspect of this game was done worse than in Dark Souls 1. Whole game is like a massive tomb of the giants, most of the bosses I encountered could easily replace bed of chaos at the list of the worst shyts that was ever created. Fighting system is horrible. Most of the times you don't even know when you took damage. Healing system tries to be something between dark souls and bloodborne, but do both tragically. You can't easily farm lifegems and estuses are just usless if you don't have big distance between you and the boss. Amount of enemies placed stupidly in the locations is enormous and fighting them all is just impossible. Becoming hollow or something system is the worst feature added to this game. If you don't have enough dolls to become normal again you will have only a half of your health bar. Other thing is the stupidest stat ever added to this games which is agility. Without it every dodge will and with taking damage and with it you are glass canon which can only dodge. The worst part is that this game is called „dark souls” which makes wanna be different fanboys and masochists who love to be beaten adore this game and recommend it to other players. If it was called „Lords of the fallen” this game would have rating like 3 from players and no one would give a shyt about it. Maybe with a knowledge I got from the first run I dropped I will try to beat it again and it will change me to become one of those fanboys, but for now I'm this game main hater.

honestly could be better the enemy placement is so bad there should be I frame when entering the boss and the hp bar system is just bad and go against the dark souls idea it self some runbacks are just ridiculous I liked some areas in the game and the design is good, overall doesn't deserve that much of hate it get, but also one of the lowest of fromsoftware games

A mostly enjoyable first-party soulslike that feels like it's trying too hard to replicate what makes the genre successful, and suffers immensely from a troubled development process.

the game is great, don't get me wrong, but my main issue with it is that it is so freaking long to the point that while it is very fun at the start, once you start to get into it a lot, it just becomes less and less fun until you're playing just to complete it

I played this immediately after finishing Dark Souls 1 and that might have ruined my experience with the game. The themes are basically copy pasted from the previous game just with significantly less nuisance and subtlety. The movement is supposed to be more fluid with the extra role directions but somehow it just feels awful. This works fine in the later fromsoft games so I don't know why its so off in this game. I like the powerstancing but the weapons in general might have more variety but they all feel like basic medieval weaponry while a ton of dark souls 1 weapons are feel very specific to world of Lordran. Speaking of which, they completely ditched the awesome interconnected world for a linear, fast travel heavy experience. Making the concept of going hallow into an actual meter is so stupid because it removed the meta aspect of Dark Souls 1 where going hollow meant giving up and turning the game off. The game is visually amazing though and has a cool opening cinematic.

I platinumed DS1, DS3, Bloodborne, Sekiro but unfortunately I had to leave this game! There are people who defend a game that is not good at all, but I even understand their "sadomasochism"... from the estus flasks that have the same functionality as life gems (they regenerate life little by little INSTEAD OF GIVING LIFE INSTANTANEOUSLY like it happens with the other DS) to the bosses that are not at all memorable, in fact you just have to see that Miyazaki had no participation in this game to understand the logic of it all. The mechanisms are too horrible, fortunately FS fixed the problems in DS3 and Bloodborne but if someone is thinking about playing DS2 they better think twice!

worst game ive ever played in my life. i will admit the potential for this game is high, it has plenty of great ideas, some even appeared in later titles, its just that a good 75% ideas are executed TERRIBLY. to keep this review short, i will not go over my extensive list on why this game is **** and that nobody should play it. then again, if you hate on this game without even touching it, you are a ****, everyone should at least dip their toes into the game before hating on it or praising it. in conclusion, if you are thinking about playing the souls trilogy, skip this one i beg

This migh sound controversial but this is the best souls game. It's the only one that will give you a sense of going in an adventure, something that neither the first nor the third game achieve. The early bosses might've been bad but not as bad as DS3's level design.

DarkSouls II is a game with a strangely high rating, considering how much it is despised by the community, which, even though isn't completely wrong, definetly overhates ds2. Honestly being the oldest game now that ds1 got a remaster and demon souls got a remake, it still kinda holds up, there are many bosses (even though they are kinda worse than the average ds1 boss), lots of weapons to try, since ds2 is probably the most diverse game in terms of loadouts, and the lore (like always) is great. But that's about it for the good things, since the worldbuilding is kinda bad and probably its biggest flaw, that and the hitboxes, since Fromsoft thought for some reason that putting a stat to decide your Iframes was a good idea.

The only reason that this game gets a low rating is the low quality of 2 out of its three DLC it includes, which are integrated in the requirements for the platinum trophy, and therefore I consider them as a part of the main game, for this edition of the game. Also, this game gets a low rating due to its last two bosses who are very, very, very uninspired designs. The idea of passively inflicting unavoidable damage is not a good one. Generally speaking, this game ended on a much worse note compared to the rest of the game. Hence, the low rating. Excluding the DLC's it would be a solid 8. This is a pity, though, because the game is solid, it has great atmosphere great exploration and , contrary to popular opinion, I didn't find it to be bad, and certainly not worse than the (half) game that came before it. It has its own pace, its own rules and it succeds to offer a quality experience, for the most part. If you rush, you lose. Please note, that if I were to rate this game from the (niche) perspective of the completuonist collector this game is a solid 0/10. It's freakishly tedious and unnecessarily obtuse in how it handles collecting its items. Also, one of its absolutely worst ideas was the soul memory. Glad it was dropped. I see in this game many things that returned in Elden Ring, even though they were clearly refined and improved in their implementation there. I therefore conclude that it was a bold new approach, and I consider it largely successful. Also, I would like to state this in no ambiguous terms: if whoever is the main designer of the Frigid Outskirts area still holds their job at Fromsoftware studio, they prove beyond doubt that Fromsoftware is by far the best place to work, in terms of job security. They prove that even extreme incompetence cannot cost anyone their job. As a worker I applaud this, as a customer, I can do no such thing. I don't mind the bosses being "easy" , to be honest, I very prefer the pace of the more difficult level + bosses-that-do-not-demand-memorization over the latest recipe of forgettable filler levels + obnoxiously-designed-bosses-that-demand-repetition. The balance has shifted heavily towards boss fights, nowadays. I actually prefer dark souls 2 in that aspect. Furthermore , I don't mind at all not being able to run through levels that much in comparison to other titles. I actually find this to be an interesting element of the game. Lastly, I only have praise for the game system and its flexibility, and I lament the fact that this game is not considered "good" because we are not going to see again the degree of character customisation present here. Pity. Adaptability was a good idea. If you sing praises for the 1st Dark Souls *and* at the same time consider the second game of the series to be a flop, I cannot even pretend I can understand your mental process. This is *clearly* a better game. I hope it gets the treatment it deserves, in a remake.

This is the first game of the series that I got acquainted with. I spent more than 300 hours in it. I really liked the atmosphere and the wonderful lore of Souls. Of course, the game design of this game is inferior in many ways to the first and third parts, but still it is one of my favorites in this genre.

Worst game in humanity's existence. If developer thinks that putting 1000 mobs in every location and your weapon breaks literally after 5 hits makes the game difficult, then they better not make games ever again. Compared to the previous two games (Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1) Darks Souls 2 is literally a garbage and must be forgotten by everyone

With Hidetaka not returning to direct the sequel I can see how some could be turned off by this game but don't give up. It's very unappealing in its first hours but if you are able to get through it you will definetely have a good time. Unfortunately it has a lot of dumb enemy placements, sometimes choking you at a point where you have to fight 6 or 7 of them at a time. Get ready to play without the lock on

very good game very good remaster, changes alot of enemies placements and items in a way that way way way better than the original game, but still has some hitboxes bug that should've be fixed even if you can count on the fingers the enemies that it has bad or not correctly hitboxes it shouldn't has, but overral its way better than the previously old game.

This is just a much worse version of the original. It's a cash grab. Changing enemy positions and adding more of them is cool for a new game plus mode, but not as an entire new game. There are rare instances of improvements such as the lore references added, and the graphics are definitely improved. Other than that though, the level design and enemy placement is just unfun now. This is probably half the reason Dark Souls II gets so much hate, because people played the inferior version.
