Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is a thrilling mech action game with incredible customization, fast-paced combat, and some of the most satisfying boss battles in recent memory. Its deep systems reward experimentation and skill, though its story can feel a bit distant at times. A fantastic return for the series and a must-play for action fans.

i have played i first on PC but only got 1 ending, and played it again when i bought the physical version on PS5 and platinumed it, just a PEAK Mecha game, AC4 was my first Armored Core game, and AC6 is just so good with modern controls, truly one of the best action game ever created

this game is very fun but I will say it feels like there's nothing interesting to do in new game plus and plus plus

One of the best Fromsoftware games out there. Everything was done so well. I just wish there was more. Also, the bosses are not too hard at all. They require strategy and proper layouts, as well as aggression not passivity. Peak gaming.

It is a fun time, but super unbalanced. Sometimes it feels like it has to be that one specific built, to be able to have a chance to finish an enemy, but the way to find that one combination of mech parts is pretty much trial and error busy work. Also, story is presented pretty lazy, mission structure is pretty retro and no difficulty option (for people who have a life besides gaming and taxes to pay) is still obscene - give people the option to play a game on their terms! Graphics, sound and cosmetic customisation of the mech are very nice. Hopefully the game design and structure will be rethinked in the next installment. An open world would be pretty exciting - moving fast, looking for new rare parts for the mech, getting loot for quests.

Great game. If you like big mechs and big guns, then 100% will be up your alley. Otherwise, its a fun action game, good controls (even if it lacks some needed game options to costumize them as well as lack of some industry standard quality of life), a little hard at times due to some harsh dificulty spikes on bosses, but not too bad. Great weapon variety, but the general big rifle and big gun aproach is also viable. The mission progression can be a little samey by the end and most characters other than the main ones are forgetable, but the story is good and the voice acting is phenomenal. Also, important to point out that the mech design and customization is incredible, so if you like to paint your character and spend some time looking cool (or paint your mech lime green with neon pink) than you will be well served

Very good game, the art style fits the theme of the game, it's a really nice change of pace from the regular souls like experience. Best thing about the game is definitely the gameplay.

Don't listen to "Shawnplaygames" because clearly they have never played any. This game is a masterpiece. The action, the story, the gameplay and the level of customization is top tier!! Takes awhile to master the movement and controls but once you do you feel like a total badass!!

Horrid. Absolutely horrid. Lazy, junky, ugly, dumb controls, dumb guns, dumb enemies... no joke I could make a better game by myself. It's complete and utter ****.

Un très bon jeux où la personnalisation est poussé à son paroxysme. Une histoire qui ne casse pas trois patte à un canard. Gameplay très nerveux et adictif

It’s not just the best Armored Core game, it’s the best mech game and one of the best action games ever.

A few frustrating difficultly spikes aside, From Software have done a great job updating the Armored Core franchise with a game full of great combat and plenty of mission variety.

The combat is so much fun. It's very interesting how the gameplay can change with all the different weapons and parts (especially legs). Some fights were really challenging, and some shockingly easy, like the very last boss of one ending that I beat first try and I was struggling with all bosses before him. Fromsoft are the masters of gameplay and atmosphere, but sadly also masters of frustration and bad writing. Could have been another 10/10 with a better and longer story. I was also ready and excited for NG+ but with some tideous escort missions that aren't fun at all, I instantly lost motivation. I'd rather die 50 times to the same bos

This game, in addition to being one of From Software’s absolute best, is a masterclass in storytelling. the mission-based gameplay is such a fitting choice for the pace, and the alternance between battleground and garage time, and the perspective it creates in the mind of the player regarding events on Rubicon is really effective. The gameplay is super tight, and more engrossing (imo) than its elden ring and dark souls counterparts. Yet the story, the way its told, and how the the game puts you in situations when you have to make some delicate choices, the way you really feel that these choices are yours and how it can influence the outcome, the writing, the dialogs, the characters, all of it felt so incredibly immersive and touched on a sensitive string that resonated with what defined my humanity at the core. The contrast with the atmosphere and mood of the game where there is no place for human appearance made it even stronger. I decided to go with the Liberator of Rubicon ending for my first playthrough, because these were the most significant and impactful choices for me. I can’t wait to unveil the secret missions and other 2 endings of my second and third playthrough. I feel like this game was overlooked or underrated because it came right after Elden Ring and was described as something totally different from souls titles. In essence it is a lot like the souls titles, and if you love the way From Soft tells a story and throws you in a hostile world deep with meaningful lore, don’t hesitate, this game will make you feel emotions like any of From Soft’s recent catalog, if not more.

This game feels like a game from PS2 Era. Horrible Controls, camera, boring briefing, bad bosses - nothing I would ever recommend

Perfect game that is held back by a mid story and decent graphics. The combat dialogue was phenomenal though. It makes you feel like you’re in Gundam. It’s a 10/10 and my favorite game ever but It needs a lot more love from FromSoft. Co-op for the story or repayable missions would’ve been fun

Few pros; visuals and customization. Many flaws; lock on being trash/enemy AI broken/unbalanced and unfair/boss abusing offlimits areas/terrible backtracking due poor checkpoint tedium... no chance to bolt to the current boss from there deal with adds 1st. I could go on but phone battery running low. Dont get me wrong... Ive played not only past FS games with skill even ER on its pre 1.04 broken era but also the goat Doom Eternal on nightmare doing quickswapping combos and movement. So the reflexes, coordination and quick decision making is there to see the missile and laser barrages go past my AC... But this game is just so poorly designed making a potentially fun gameplay into a cancer. Dropped on chapter 4 soon after choosing to whoop the Catafract due some shielded bursty gatekeeper to find out the final nail in the coffin being their lazy path finding when surrounded by buildings... me standing still for 1 minute already annoyed to no avail then be forced to meet the enemy AC to end up catapulting sky high to barrage my remaining 6k hp in an instant without any possibility to do something with a light and fast AC able to fast strafe. Very fun.

Overall I enjoyed it but I have some serious gripes that turn what I wanted to be a 9 or 10 out of 10 into an 8. Most notably the bosses are horribly balanced. I have no issue with them being difficult. The problem is that they are brutally difficult compared to the rest of the game. The basic enemies are a complete joke and pose almost no threat to you. But then when a boss comes around they will tear you into pieces. Unlike FromSoft’s other games these bosses rely on build checks rather than skill checks. My second biggest issue is the build variety. For how many options you get only a few builds are truly viable.

A fresh and brand-new style of video game for next generation consoles. It feels like this huge open world games can be a chore at times. A lot of these games take hours to get going on, and sometimes you just want a video game you can turn on and start playing. Like many others, this is my first armored core game, and after a few hours, I realize how much I regret not checking out this series sooner, I missed so many armored core titles. It’s kind of hard to get backwards and play some of the older ones now. I hope they see how popular this game is and make more Armored Cores, or add a beefy DLC, I’m willing to pay whatever they charge for more action. I will not lie, I struggled a bit at the beginning, took me a month of on and off playing for the game to finally click. The game officially clicked for me when I beat the boss at the end of the first chapter, I started to blaze through the missions and the arena. The customization is incredible, you can respec your OS chips, and try out different builds, you don’t have to be tied to one type of weapon, although I’m team Laser, it has carried me through the game, 2 upgraded laser blasters up top, and 2 of the 210,000 purple laser guns on the right and left, the build is unstoppable. I highly recommend getting this game. Another thing, I regret buying it for my steam deck, I should have got it for PS5 to play on a 65” OLED with beautiful HDR crystal clear, smooth as butter graphics. See you all when VII drops, God willing!

I've platinumed every modern FromSoft game (and the DS remake), and I just gave up on AC6 and uninstalled on chapter 3. ---- The big issue is that I simply could not find a way to avoid damage. I jump, hover, boost (normal, quick, assault), use shields (or not), quickly move left and right, use cover, get close or far, change the build. Nothing worked for me. The lock modes soft/hard were also a detriment, instead of circling enemies I would always face them, as if trying to get hit on purpose. I can avoid maybe 70% of damage from bosses/elites, but the remaining 30% is enough to quickly eat all repair kits. ---- I resorted to doing massive damage to "kill enemies before they kill me". And this lousy gameplay got me to chapter 3 without that much trouble, which has ... shielded elites. They will basically negate all damage/stagger, if you try to melee them or kick their shields, they'll gladly shotgun you in the face with no visible animation or sound cues to warn you. Even worse, you must kill all 30 enemies in the level before reaching the elite, otherwise, doors won't open, yep, FS learned nothing from the most s*t on mechanic in history: DS2 boss runbacks. And that was the final straw, I never had fun with AC6 and this was the uninstall moment. ---- Before you assume I can only play "soulslike" games, I also beat returnal (way more bullet hell than AC6), ninja gaiden (crazy aggressive enemies), a bunch of FPS (borderlands, doom), some old spaceship games that are somewhat similar to AC6, etc. I can adapt to many games, but AC6 ... I could not.

Bland world combined with the bland story combined with the bland looking robots and bosses produces a terribly bland experience.

Sweaty, shallow, pretentious jump-shooter with a toxic online community. Daemon X Machina was a better game and should have gotten more recognition than this.

The best mecha game ever made, as well as the tightest built in the AC series. The story, although delivered only via the exceptionally dubbed dialogues, is very intense, nuanced, and immediately warrants a replay in order to get a different ending. The characters are full of personality, and make for the perfect background for the awesome, curated fights. The mech creation is simple but absurdly rewarding, encouraging both tweaking and the creation of multiple builds. The atmosphere is incredible, and the scale of the maps stuns, all the while not hindering the sensation that you're piloting a huge mech. I could not get enough of it.

This was my very first Armored Core and my, oh my, I guess I've really miss out a great game line here. Now I get from where FromSoftware developed their great game and boss design. Engaging, visually stunning combats - and not easy at all. Great story and setting, I hope to see the continuation of it someday.

This game is fantastic and I can’t think of many complains overall. Minute to minute gameplay is exhilarating and extremely fun to push through. The game is very difficult and the story is told in a bit of a disjointed way but besides those two point I don’t have any other gripes. I really hope from software continues to make more AC games even thought they don’t sell as well as some of their other IPs, I will be there to purchase them when they do because big powerful mechs belong in video games.

What a pain in the... Brutal camera, no weight to the weapons, pointless grey boxes with mundane noises. I loved the Souls games, this is just robot ****. Either clip through your enemy or slide on past. Don't expect that giant sword to land though. Better pepper them with useless guns and the roll of the dice that are your rockets.

Armored core with a new feel that pushes you further. It has some very souls worthy boss fights which will push you to git gud or you can build a mech for each fight to give yourself an edge. It isn't going to be easy for casuals but once you get it you won't stop. I wish it was longer. It isn't short,I just want more.

Speaking purely for PvE It has its great moments, enough to have me beat this game three times to get all three endings, hunt all the battle logs and get all the hidden chests. But for the most part it's the typical FromSoft trend of pushing faster and faster combat with a system that can't keep up, and imo FromSoft don't always do fast combat well. I have tons of missed inputs that constantly mess my game up because a weapon refused to switch, or my AB refused to turn off etc. Storywise it's standard FromSoft fare. It's essentially just the Dark Souls story in a different universe. Lots of customisation options but really, most of them aren't that special. It's really just making a cool looking mech with the leg type/FCS type you want to use. The stats are barely differentiated enough to make a huge difference. Boss encounters are alright, enough variety in encounters but too many gimmicky bosses that definitely push you towards using a certain type of build. Definitely worth a try with an open mind, just don't expect to be blown away. Edit:having replayed through some choice missions and experimenting with even morebuilds - this game is just outright lazy. Balancing is terrible. FromSoft, since Dark Souls has grown even more lazy with their game balance.

Introduced me to the AC franchise, and it was quite hooking the first 10 hours or so. Then the hype i had suddenly dies, and the game felt kind of repetitive, with the all the arena battles feeling the same and the main quests kind of boring at given points. I won't say its a bad no boring game, but i expected a bit more coming from From Software

This is an amazing game. I got into AC rather late with AC4, however, I did look up some gameplay of older AC titles just for better reference. I pretty much love every aspect of this game. One thing that stood out in particular to me was its story. Granted, the way of telling it through voice messages and written lore can be a bit tedious at times, but it goes insanely hard IMHO. The customization (stabilizers, bespoke radars, etc.) is a bit tuned back from previous titles such as AC4 and 4A, but I didn't care as much. The ACs still feel unique and there is plenty of room to build cool robots. If you want a hard game with a great story and an amazing atmosphere (and robots!), this is the one.

I've been a fan of the Armored Core series since I first played AC 3 on the ps2. They've had some pain points over the years, but this modern iteration is smooth as silk and fun to play. I do think that the menu based mission select is a bit archaic, but I can't really think of any other way to do it without going open world and truthfully that isn't what I want from the franchise.

An incredible game with fantastic replay value, customisation and the variety of builds to be made, I didn't go into the game expecting a great story but I loved what I got to experience and it might be one of the best games I've played this year with definitely the best gameplay.

massively underrated! in my opinion it was the game of the year 2023 outclassing all the other games that year. best sound design period. best gameplay IMO, very VERY good Story, best replayability (actually replaying is must for this one) Niche title that deserves to become mainstream just like the soulsgames before. Please Fromsoft more of that pure Gold, the believers will surge im sure!

While I think the gameplay is fantastic in its customisability and presentation, with a story that does feel engaging too, the game suffers (like Elden Ring) from a massive issue of balancing. I enjoy the customisability the game offers, however my issue is that it is VERY clear that some weapons are massively better than others, which becomes an issue when some bosses are so outrageously hard that it forces you to use solely the "good" weapons, even if you may not personally enjoy the playstyle that comes with that. It takes a lot agency away from players who simply want to customise their mech to whatever they personally find as fun. Instead of FromSoftware trying to fix the inbalance in weapons, they decided to scale bosses in difficulty around these higher tier builds (just like in Elden Ring). I pray that FromSoftware does not fall into these pitfalls of balancing in future games.
