Amazing levels with some creative ideas. Very fun. Bosses are a little basic but it doesn’t matter too much. Only issue is that you have to play Astro’s Playroom to access certain content which was a bit of a roadblock but it doesn’t take long to get what you need.

Mediocre combat, couldn’t figure out how to fast travel so had to run everywhere, quest design wasn’t great since if u fail one of the stealth missions once the guards keep detecting you even in disguise and even if you haven’t done anything wrong since the game doesn’t explain that there is a reputation system, wouldn’t recommend

Wasn’t expecting this to be as good as it is. If u like souls games then u will really like this, but I reckon u will like it in general regardless of whether u plays souls/souls likes or not. It’s a good introduction that isn’t too hard, there were 2 bosses I didn’t think I’d beat (won’t spoil them) but u just have to be patient. The reason I didn’t give it a 10 is because I don’t like the exploration as much as others do. It’s very cryptic and I barely ever knew where to go but I think that might be what some people are looking for. However the difference between the exploration in this and in a game like Elden Ring is that in Elden Ring you can see huge structures in the distance and guess that that’s where you need to be heading to, but because of the nature of Tunic and the camera angle, this doesn’t carry over. Therefore, I found myself looking at YouTube a lot to figure out where to go. However, if this typeof exploration doesn’t bother you then you’ll enjoy this game. I do recommend it.

The story is fairly interesting and overall I think it’s better than the Nuka World DLC, however it’s very short, in fact it feels like it’s over in a couple of hours, however it has no annoying fetch quest missions like Nuka World so that’s a bonus. You can skip it if you want though, it’s not essential that u give it a go.

It’s easier to write the things I didn’t like about the game because I liked the majority of it. Early on I didn’t realize that ammo would be so scarce at times, so I decided to dump all the minigun ammo into the deathclaw encounter early on in the game, and throughout my playthrough I struggled at times to get enough ammunition to keep playing. This kinda gets sorted though through perks that make ammo more abundant and just by generally looting enemies and POI’s. I also feel that combat could be better, at times I would be just standing still in my power armour shooting at a giant lobster or something, tanking all the hits, because it was a little easier, but the problem might be that I wasn’t playing too well. Overall, the combat does add incentive to trying out other weapons through different ammo types, meaning once u have used up all of a specific ammo type, u go and try another weapon, or if the one ur using isn’t great then u can try something else. Also I found that often it would be easy to keep looting and end up carrying too much stuff and not being able to fast travel when encumbered meant I couldn’t dump it all at my base and then set out again, although this can be fixed with a perk. The story wasn’t amazing and lots of dialogue choices feel useless at times. I wish there was a faction reputation or loyalty system, but hopefully that’ll be in Fallout 5.
Game is worth playing overall!

Whilst I haven’t completed finished this DLC, I came just to say how unfun and miserable it is. A lot of it is just a fetch quest where u have to find these things called ‘star cores’, so expect to just be following a YouTube guide for a large chunk of this DLC. Start is fun, where u have to navigate round a bunch of traps and then fight a gimmick ‘boss’, which is not too bad, but ruined by the star cores fetch quest.

If it wasn’t for the slightly weaker start to the game, and if the game had been longer, this could be a 10/10. There’s a bunch of interesting devices to work with and upgrade, and the bosses, whilst I wouldn’t describe them as ‘memorable’, are pretty good. The soundtrack is mostly ‘atmospheric music’, and what I mean by that is that it serves the same function as ‘Limgrave’ does in Elden Ring - it doesn’t get in the way, it plays whilst your exploring, and it sounds great. I also think the story serves its purpose - it’s full of mystery and weird cultists and other stuff I won’t spoil, but unfortunately it’s not as developed as it could have been had the game been longer. It’s definitely worth a try but it doesn’t take long to complete unfortunately.

Combat focuses heavily on dodging/parrying attacks. It’s a little hard to get used to at first on PS5 as the input for parry AND dodge is circle. Parries don’t even look like parries, they look like dodges. But it does work. The combat loop is ‘press circle every time the enemy does an attack, get an attack in on your own occasionally, then when the enemy does a red attack, press circle at the right time and then do a critical attack’ rinse repeat. As for difficulty, a couple of bosses can be tricky but it’s nowhere near as hard as other souls likes, for example Lies of P or Elden Ring. There’s the occasional tricky boss than can then be followed by a boss u clear in one try. The story never was interesting for me. Do note that I haven’t finished the game or anything. I just think some of it is a bit cheesy and so I was never playing the game to see what would happen next. Overall it is fun but not an S-tier soulslike or anything,

This is an amazing souls like. People say ‘it is the best souls like that has been made’, and I agree with them. The difficulty is mostly fair if you engage with the games parry and block mechanics which make up the games combat system. You have to block just before each of the enemies attacks to build up their stagger, and eventually when they stagger you can do a critical attack. I believe heavy attacks also build up stagger. It works incredibly well, and you get used to it after a while. As for difficulty, it is hard but not as hard as games like Dark Souls III. A lot of the time, the difficulty feels fair, and even the hardest boss in the game feels mainly doable (which obviously they are) however this will take time. The only reason why I haven’t scored it a 10 is because some bosses aren’t that good, the weapon making system where you combine a hilt with a blade could have been expanded to add more customization and some of the levels are just annoying. However, it is definitely worth buying if you like souls games.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder9
Jan 9, 2024
It’s been a while since I’ve played a 2D mario game, seriously the last one I played was Super Mario Bros U if that counts. This game is incredible. I thought it’d be really short. It is short, sure, but not the kinda game u could finish in a day. It took me a week or two I’d guess to get to the final boss, but obviously I wasn’t playing it 24/7. Most of the levels are inventive and fun to play as most of them feel like they are experimenting with a new feature or using a feature in a different way, and the wonder effects add a nice, unique spin to them. They’re not always that inventive, but 99% of the time they feel new and unique. The only ones that are bit boring I’d say are, for example, ones where they make u move slower or faster. Speaking of rare cases where the game isn’t very inventive are the boss fights. Each world has a castle at the end, all of which feel samey, but the point is is that you fight the same boss every time just with a small new mechanic that doesn’t change the fight up that much, which was very disappointing since bosses in other Mario games are more creative. Another disappointment for me was the ‘Jump, Jump, Jump!’ **** the end I got stuck on one so hard I had to quit, but luckily it was only a bonus level. However, since the rest of the game is very easy, these felt very out of place and I’m not sure what the devs were thinking here. Apart from those small negative factors, the game is 100% worth it and it’s great. I really liked (almost) every moment of it. Just needs some more creative bosses and some consideration for those who are not platforming experts when it comes to certain levels.

I didn’t like this game when I first played it because I didn’t have a clue where I was going or what I needed to do. However, after I got familiarized with the game, did some side content and leveled up my characters, I had a lot of fun. The amount of choice u have in this game is insane - you can be a good person (like I did) or not, perhaps even choosing the Dark Urge. Combat can be a little confusing at the start because there isn’t really a tutorial. The game doesn’t say ‘this is this’ etc, but the way the game makes D and D so much more simpler means there’s not much to get confused with here, except maybe choosing abilities and classes. My only other issue with combat is that it can be really really hard. Initially I didn’t do loads of side content, only a necessary amount to get me past a fight I was struggling with. But this game is divided into acts, and that means that once u enter a new large area, the only way to go back to where u were before is loading an older save, and if u don’t wanna do that because u have progressed the game quite a lot since that point then ur screwed and all u can do is turn the difficulty down. That just feels like a huge oversight for me. Also with certain quests I had to rely on YouTube a fair bit to know what to do as it’s a little cryptic at times. However apart from these points, everything else is pretty much perfect. The combat is fun. The acting is amazing. The characters are mostly interesting. Choosing your path as you progress is something I wish more games did, and it’s done so well here. It deserved GOTY because it did so many things great that other games don’t and felt like a completely new experience. You just have to be patient and give this game a try for yourself. Too many games nowadays just shove microtransactions in your face, but not BG3. You get what you paid for, and you never get asked ‘buy the latest skin for only £60’ like Overwatch 2 or Call of Duty. Overall a great experience that should show other developers that the audience doesn’t want a digital shopping simulator with a mediocre, half baked game on the side. You should try BG3 but not EVERYONE is gonna like it because it’s a turn-based game. However, it might just surprise you, like it surprised me.

I was disappointed with this DLC. I’m very happy it was free but I really don’t like what they did with it. I was expecting some meaningful story content, or an interesting side story. The only side story u get here is some backstory on Kratos and Mimir rambling on about stuff I don’t really care about. Also not great if you don’t want a rogue like game. The combat is good because the combat system in Ragnarok is good, but the DLC, in my opinion, manages to make it less interesting because on each run u just get the same enemies spammed over and over again. There’s also a time trial section which I won’t elaborate too much on but it’s just a slog having to do it again and again and again. It’s quite easy to get confused where your meant to go here and the worst bit about it is that it gets harder the longer u spend in the section (which to be fair isn’t too much of an issue because it’s not overwhelmingly hard). Over all it’s worth a try because it’s free but I was a little disappointed myself.

Quick warning: I haven’t finished this game and don’t plan on finishing it. At first i thought the game was actually quite good. Then, as I played more and more, I started seeing all the flaws in it. The (mostly) good:
- The umbral/axiom system. It’s implemented (mostly) well. I remember using the lantern to peer into Umbral for the first time and I was kinda amazed by how well it works. My only problem is how, if u stay there for too long, the game just spams some of the most annoying enemies that kill you instantly. I know ur not meant to stay there for ages, and you do have to wait a while for the annoying enemies to spawn, but it kinda discourages you from playing the game.
- Combat works fine albeit a bit repetitive and basic. It’s just ‘attack’, ‘heavy attack’ and ‘parry’. There is a lantern attack as well but that’s it.
- Graphics are good. The bad:
- This game has some of the most frustrating bosses I’ve ever come across. The hushed Saint for example is terrible. So is the Congregator of Flesh due to how unpredictable it is. And I didn’t really like Pieta either, she was just fine. Not memorable.
- Umbral realm sometimes spams the most insufferable enemies ever.
- Levels are poorly designed and very confusing to traverse through. - Lack of proper checkpoints, there are a few where you need a specific item to activate and you can only activate one of these at a time. They serve as a mid-checkpoint between a main checkpoint and another main checkpoint. Would’ve been better if this wasn’t a feature and all checkpoints worked like they should do instead of having ones where you have to use an item to activate them and once u activate another then the other one is deactivated.
- Boss weapons are way too hard to get.
- Roll distance is questionable - the distance is too much.
- It doesn’t seem easy to get new weapons so you’re kinda just stuck with whatever you get first. Luckily for me I got the paid subclass which had a pretty decent weapon. Would I recommend: no. But it’s not terrible and u might like it if you’re a big souls like fan. However u might just see more flaws as you compare to other souls likes and the souls games aswell. Just go play Dark Souls III or Elden Ring. In LOTF, the bosses are not very good nor are they interesting, the combat is pretty basic and doesn’t really do anything new apart from the soul flay ability with the lamp, and I don’t care about the story because it seems really cliche - there’s a demon god who’s unleashed an army and u gotta stop him. That’s all I know and that’s not really a spoiler coz they put this in their trailer I think. Basically it’s not worth your money.

This might the best platformer I’ve ever played. Every level looks visually amazing, the gameplay is just fun, nothing too hard or too easy. I mean sometimes it’s a little too easy, but only on the early levels, and that’s probably how a game should be. Also, you’re actively encouraged to 100% levels as you need to collect enough teensies to progress. Sure it can get annoying having to replay levels but it’s not too much of a problem. The Rayman Origin levels are still good but it’s annoying how some you can only play by unlocking through daily scratch cards. That’s really dumb. But the main game and main levels are great! Even the music levels at the end of every world are great, especially the first ****’s a must-play if you like platformers. Oh, and the OST is great. What more can I say.

It’s just like Demons Souls! Another game where you just can’t progress further than level one! This might be just a ‘skill issue’ but seriously, I could not get past level 1. Never thought I’d post a 0 review but here we are. Elder Scrolls Online. Everything is poor and lackluster in this game. The characters look pretry bad and they just talk AT you for ages. The combat it the most boring I’ve ever seen, it’s just ‘press R1 to attack, press square to special ability’ and that’s it. Fighting is just standing still, pressing R1 and special ability occasionally. Rinse and repeat. Absolute garbage, would never recommend.

Another incredibly frustrating game. However, I will mention good points, because there are some which is why I gave it a 3. Performance and graphics are good on PS5 so no complaints there. And the gameplay is **** everything else is pretty awful. There’s not really a tutorial so you don’t have a clue what you’re doing. The map is abysmal and NEVER tells you where to go. Some games like Elden Ring pull off the no-handholding thing well because there’s interesting things in the distance that draw you to certain areas and therefore you end up going the right way anyway. But with remnant 2, because it’s made up of various, ‘procedurally generated’ levels (which I don’t believe, I reckon it’s just a randomiser of levels the devs creates but ok), your journey is fragmented, and you never know where your going. Then there’s the unfair bosses. It’s easy to ignore them by just saying it’s a ‘skill issue’ and you just have to ‘git gud’ but sometimes it really is unfair. One boss I beat with help would just hide half the time and then fire giant laser beams that were so hard to avoid it was basically impossible. So being stuck on the boss wasn’t a case of ‘ok, I can see where I’m going wrong here’, it was ‘how can the boss do that? Is that even fair?’ So for me it’s a no.

If you like games for their story, PLAY THIS GAME NOW. The story for this game is incredible, each character has depth and they’re not just some boring NPC that talks like a robot you’ll probably forget. The ending is great and changes depending on your actions in game, however I would say that, once you’ve got bad honor, it’s so tedious and so hard to farm up honor. You just have to, for example, catch fish and throw the, back into a lake, or say hello to every random person you pass. Also SOMETIMES the world can feel a bit repetitive and bland, but incredibly detailed and lifelike. Also another annoying thing about the game is that you’re basically forced to turn on auto-aim because the manual aim system is really bad. It didn’t take too much away from the game but was quite annoying. Must play.

This game really isn’t good. I chose the commando class, and it forces you into some of the most boring gameplay I’ve ever experienced: stand still, hold the shoot trigger, and watch the enemies health bar go down. If that isn’t boring then I don’t know what is. Also remember not to try and swim because at the start you probably won’t have much stamina and so you just die in like 10 seconds because the character creation makes it so easy to not prioritize getting loads of stamina. Oh, and there’s the character creation. You can’t create a character in terms of appearance. There’s a kind of circle where you move a little cursor in different directions according to whether you want more strength or other stats, however the game doesn’t explain why each stat is useful so it’s easy to end up having a trash starting build. And your appearance gets affected by the stats you choose to invest higher in. Why. The dialogue with NPC’s ends up being a joke because every character speaks in a made up language, and a narrator has to translate everything they say, and it ends up being incredibly jarring. The light versus dark system seemed interesting and I would’ve liked to see it expanded. However, apart from that, I didn’t like it.

I will start with the positives. Overall all the bosses look cool. The combat is very similar to Elden Ring, so therefore great. And some of the bosses are just great, I mean the last bosses of both the base game and the DLC’s are exceptional. Also the story is quite interesting, but I can’t say I understood it from just the game. I had to watch a YouTube video to understand it. And you can’t forget some of the tracks in the soundtrack. They’re amazing. Now for the negatives. It’s just too tough in certain areas. I had to get lots of help in the form of online co-op just to get past some of the bosses, so it kinda ruined my enjoyment of the ones I got help for. Luckily I beat the final bosses for the base game and both the DLC’s because they’re the best in the game, however I got help for around half of the rest of the bosses. However I think you should enjoy it if you feel ready to master the game mechanics, or atleast get to grips with them. And don’t feel bad if you need to get help from online co-op, this game is hard, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. There are people that will say your trash at games if you got help, and that you ruined the whole game. Don’t listen to them.

Got this game, I think because it was free on PS plus at the time. I played it a fair bit and it’s OK. I couldn’t care less about the story because the cutscenes are incredibly boring, which is what drags this game down heavily for me. The same thing happened in FXVI for me, but the combat in that game was better. In this game combat is OK but gets repetitive and is pretty easy. I only got stuck on 2 bosses in the time I played. Overall it’s better if u skip the cutscenes but still not great.

This is an unpopular opinion but I really didn’t get on with this game. I played Elden Ring and it’s the best game I’ve ever played. But with Demons Souls, I couldn’t even get past the first level without dying. It’s extremely frustrating and the combat is challenging and very basic. It’s just light attack, hard attack, block, parry’ and there’s not much space to customize your character and create a build like Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring. Oh, and say goodbye to checkpoints like bonfires or grace points because there’s none of those. You die, and go all the way back to the start. Your not even able to wear full knight armour either because ‘it’s too heavy’, and whilst this has always been a FromSoft mechanic, atleast in their other games you could do something about it, like upgrade a stat to increase equip load, or wear a charm or amulet that increases equip load. Even the first boss I’ve never been able to do because it’s ‘get hit once and die’. I’ve given it a 2 because I liked the atmosphere and art/graphics style. They nailed that part. And a couple of the OST songs. However I dislike everything else. Sorry but it’s a no for me. I don’t find incredibly hard games fun because they’re ‘challenging’. I think a challenge should be a fair one.

Elden Ring10
Aug 17, 2023
At first I found this game too hard and nearly quit on the first boss. And you may feel this way too. But after looking at some YouTube starter guides, Elden Ring has become the best game I have ever played. So good I’ve played it 3 and a half times (3 for the platinum PS trophy, the half for fun). Some of the bosses were definitely too hard for me, but you can call upon some helpful players to assist you, or in some cases do it for you. I summoned one online helper who used a sorcery that burst a magical beam at the boss for like 8 seconds and it died instantly. But, if you managed to overcome a boss yourself, there is a great sense of achievement. The open world has an interesting design and (mostly) makes you want to explore. Unless you wanna make a B-line to the end. There’s also so many different ways you can play the game - whack stuff with a big sword, use magic and more. And there’s so many unique weapons to make ‘builds’ out of. There’s only two problems: bosses being reused, and caves/catacombs/dungeons. The second main boss is literally put into an eveergaol (a mini-boss arena, there’s multiple) but they changed like 1 or 2 letters in his name. Why? I get that they may have ran out of time to make a new boss but I’d rather get a random boss than a reused one. Also the caves and dungeons are really repetitive and the boss at the end is usually really easy and forgettable. Mainly because it’s easy to go through a dungeon that was designed for a low level than you currently are, which can definitely happen. Other than that, perfect game. I don’t want to lower the score to a 9 because it does everything else perfectly. In short, play the game. The positive reviews are all correct.
