DO NOT BUY - even on sale. Neat concept and direction. Very poor execution on said concept and direction. The game is sloppy from head to toe and feels unfinished, which is absurd considering the retail price. Graphics are sub-par, enemies are repetitive and spongy, the open world feels empty, the story and dialogue are skip-worthy nonsense, difficulty is all over the place, inventory management is a chore, quests are boring and buggy, and multiplayer is unreliable. Traversal, customization, and combat are okay, but don't come close to making up for how clunky every other aspect of the game is. Overall, as a mecha game enthusiast I am disappointed. Hell, I've played budget indie mecha games I was more impressed with. The first Daemon X was also better imo. Spend your money on those instead.

One of the sweatiest solo games on the market, regardless of what you change in the settings or how you improve. Tries to imitate the shock-value of other difficult games in the genre like Dark Souls, but is too clunky to pull it off. Not everyone is an adderall-chomping masochist, and I'm beyond tired of new games pandering to this kind of audience.

Pretentious, mediocre game that relies on nostalgia and world-building to prop up otherwise irredeemable game elements: insufferable character tropes and dialogue, an empty world on rails, a severely downgraded version of Square's action/tac hybrid combat, and sluggish and awkward story pacing. FFXVI was a much better modern entry to the franchise, in my opinion.

Floaty, imprecise controls, awful car mechanics, every enemy is a laser-accurate killing machine that can spawn in directly next to you and will end you before you can blink, the writing and characters are cringey af, and the entire game is loosely propped around online/server events that don't even work. There is a very good reason you can find 10+ copies of this at every pawn shop in your area.

Great idea, poor execution. Decent characters and dialogue, but story gets a bit bland. Gameplay has a solid base (standard combo punch-em-up) but was boring and repetitive. Enemies aren't very smart, have little variety, and were overly spongy in later stages. By the end I was just spamming the same super move back-to-back hoping it would be over soon. You could tell it's a bit of a labor of love from the small dev team however, so I respect that.

This is a much, MUCH better version of the game than the garbage console ports, which I learned the hard way (I ended up buying it twice because of this). That being said, I would still recommend it only to a small demographic - along with some modding which is a MUST (check Nexus, etc). It scratches a certain knightly itch, and it is a relatively accurate representation of the era, but it falls short of many basic expectations and *still* has some major glitches that severely effect immersion. Would only recommend to severe role-players with an interest in the atmosphere/era.

Incredibly tedious waste of time. Worst f***king controls and UI I've ever personally endured in a RPG - and get this: you can't edit them. Also, ALL input feels floaty/delayed and is extremely irritating when looting or fighting. Some skill minigames and perks are still so broken, you will likely have to shift your intended build to accommodate. Only reason I don't give it a fat donut is for the compelling story/premise, the freedom-of-choice aspect, and the fact I only paid ~$7 for it (thankfully).

I was intrigued by the the first game -which I played for about as long - but it feels like they haven't improved at all. PROS: - decent story - fun gameplay restructure - pokedex log tasks that are intuitive and entertaining - crafting mechanics that tie into open-world gathering - you get to ride a menagerie of impressive pokemon and the platforming is decent - new evolutions for old favorites - slick battle animations - item management/"survival" aspects with punishing consequences - "stealth" mechanics that add another layer of skill to catching and/or battling wild Pokemon CONS: - short of establishing a new camp or farming plot, all side quest rewards are virtually useless and a few of them will require an unpleasant amount of your time to accomplish (sloppy/lazy gameplay padding) - the game has very little content compared to other entries in the series (~40 hours) - postgame has little purpose, it's just a dex-grind - no multiplayer/PvP - there is only a handful of trainer battles, 98% of battles will be wild pokemon encounters - "boss fights" are essentially janky, unmemorable minigames - mediocre graphics that have no excuse for running the system so hot while looking so bad VERDICT: It's clear that the game (albeit somewhat successful) is a market test. Wait until they release multiple DLCs, or just buy Sword or Shield if you haven't already.

I am a returning fan, but any game that has a game-breaking glitch in it is a zero in my book. A common free-roam discovery breaks the manual and automatic saving algorithm in the game, disabling the ability to save for the rest of your playthrough. You've been warned. There are no fixes, updates, or general public acknowledgement from the developers regarding the matter, so far that I have found (as of 2/26/19). That aside, the game also feels rushed, the controls are non-responsive, the AI is janky, the dialogue has odd gaps and timing, and the new "open world" has a lot of impassable zones or jarring invisible walls. Could only recommend after a year of patches, at half price or lower.

Easy to pick up and put down. This visceral, wave-based shoot-em-up may not have much vanilla content, but the developers seem dedicated and the mod community even more so. I have not dived into a game this hard in quite a while. Personally, I adore it, slight flaws and all. The gameplay is immersive (after tweaking a few controls), the characters are dynamic and interesting, the story takes interesting turns, and the endgame sequence is brilliant. My favorite part about it though - just like GTAV - is how the world just feels ALIVE. The NPCs are unpredictable, varied, and react to you in numerous ways. The huge map is littered with loot, animals, secrets, random events, sequences, and quests to keep you busy. Things are constantly happening, and curiosity is often well rewarded. Players are still finding new and unknown things! My only complaint is that the bounty/wanted system is a bit janky, but it did not detract from the overall experience for me. I greatly look forward to the multiplayer and/or PC release.
