A friend bought me the game, so I really tried to give it a fair shot after reading all the negative reviews. The customization and loot aspect is pretty decent. I like flying around and shooting stuff so the baseline of the game is actually pretty fun. The problem isn't that the story is bad, its that it pulls you out of the action and forces you to walk around and just listen to mediocre dialogue. Gameplay consists of loading screens, mech customization, loading screens, dialogue to get mission, loading screen, mission that lasts 4-7 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of tedium to get into the next bit of action. The game is okay, I can't understand the 0-2 ratings, but yeah, it doesn't seem to know whether it wants story or action so it just yanks you back and forth constantly.

I love the atmosphere of this game and the setting. It gains a lot of bonus points for really letting you tackle most situations in so many different ways. So a lot of complaints could be countered by the way I chose to play. For me, the gunplay felt weak and ammo was somewhat scarce, but with the fabricators and skill system you could basically break down everything you find into ammo and weapon upgrades. Using the alien powers is pretty cool too. I think my biggest complaint is really how good the game gets (combat aside) and then farts out one of the most dissapointing ending(s) possible. This game really would have benefitted from a new game plus mode too, but unfortunately doesn't have one. All in all, it's a good game but has its flaws that hold it back from being truly great. All in all, the game is fun and worth a play through, just be aware of the problems before going in.

I'm not completely new to DA, but I never finished one of their games completely. I figured this one looked good and somehow I put about 5 hours in and so bored. The combat was boring and running around the big maps was boring. The quests seemed very disconnected, it seemed that the main story quickly took a back seat to killing 10 goats, placing flags, and racing horses. I really wanted to like this game, but in the end, it just fizzled out and I couldn't bring myself to play anymore.

This is a great game that has developed some really likable characters and a really engaging story. It has a few problems that hold it back from being a 10 to me. One the character moves like a forklift and when on a horse it gets even worse. Sometimes just moving him around is a chore. The combat movement is fine, but sometimes my block/parry doesn't register. The story is great, but suffers from strange pacing and between 10-20 hours in I kept thinking about quitting. Mainly at the point where it forced me to do about six side-quests to continue. Once I got past that the story picked up and never slowed down. Its a really great game and I can't wait to see more from CDPR, I just hope they can fix the minor flaws.

I think I'm with a lot of people saying that these types of games have never appealed to me. That being said I saw some of it, decided to play it for myself and ... wow, man did it take me for a ride. I could explain why it's so good, but not without spoiling anything. This is a game that manages to keep you thinking about it long after you have turned it off.

It plays the same as the other games and I loved them, but this one just seems to lack soul. It's hard to pinpoint the problem, but I think its just weak motivation. Half the game I was still sorta of asking "why?" Weakest of the series, but still functions well enough for a fun stealth romp.

POE is a game that has three things you must get past before you can git gud. Skill, gear, and build. POE had a very diverse skill tree allowing for interesting builds, interesting items and challenging bosses. It is a good challenging game. If you are new though, the gear can be an issue. It doesn't really progress as you level and without grinding a lot, you won't have the currency to buy or change gear drops. Around 70 average gear is really no longer passable. Random mobs will have enchants like "strong crits" and will simply one-shot you if you don't have the right items/build. It takes research and creativity. It teeters between challenging and unfair. D3 can feel too easy and this can feel too hard, so the choice is yours. I can't give this a low score because I have really enjoyed the difficulty, the art, story, gameplay, but that difficulty can really be a gut-punch if you don't look up guides.

ESO as a whole is a fun and solid MMO, especially one that is buy-to-play. This expansion (or DLC) adds a new class which is always fun, but it just feels a little shallow. The price is rather high and you don't get a lot for the money. Helps to add on to the game, just not much, and not $40 worth either.

I played LoL casually so I can't compare these on a hardcore level, but I like both of them. Heroes also has a good business model that allows you access to lots of heroes without spending any or much $. Like most expansions the initial story is pretty good. It pulled me in and I enjoyed leveling my main and even building my order hall was kinda fun. But then it hits with their patented brand of rep grinding to unlock quests to grind more. I wanted to unlock flying, but after doing some simple math I didn't want to spend the time repeating generic quests to fly around a continent I was already bored of. It just feels like end game progression has no choices, its rep grind the only way possible. I can't say it was worth the price, but I had fun until endgame.

This is a tough one to review. It has a very solid classic MMO feel to it, which is a plus for me. The community is the best I have ever seen. While the story itself goes from okay to really good, the quests attached are terrible. To get into the level 51 areas you probably have to do 20 hours of fetch quests, running back and forth, and just generally boring quests. It is a shame because everything else is great, you just have to ask if you are willing to push through the boring quests to enjoy the gem hidden within.

The questing is excellently voice acted and the story is actually quite good. I think it plays pretty good as an MMO, but it still gets weighed down by the MMO style combat and running back and forth. Path of Exile is a very true to series Diablo 2.5 type game. It has complicated skill trees and gem combining system that will initially make your head spin. Once you get the hang of the system it really pulls you in and allows for tons of customization. If you like trying out new build ideas that may or may not flop and then starting anew then this game is great. If you want to level a class that is more versatile and can adjust tactics and gear then Diablo 3 is probably more your game. Even if you just play through the first difficulty POE is a great free to play game.

Lichdom: Battlemage4
Sep 15, 2016
This is a hard one to rate. I want to give it a high score because I love shooters and I love wizards, so I mean what could go wrong? Well everything that made those things fun, apparently. Aside from the good voice acting and decent graphics you fight the same enemies over and over, which would be okay if combat was actually fun. The problem is this: shooters have very few guns that require charging and if they do, they do much more damage. Well in battlemage if you want to spells to do more than a light tickle they need to be charge, and they also need a mastery spell cast first. While charging you move slower as well. So 50% of combat is charging spells while slowly trying to sidestep attacks. It gets tiresome fast and the other bad thing is that many enemies freeze, stun, slow, and knock you down both annoying you and canceling any charging spell. The spellcrafting system is overly complicated for something that offers very little depth. I really wanted to like this, but in the end it was more of a chore than a game.

This was a short game, but I enjoyed every minute going through its world. The story is engaging and the combat is very satisfying. It does suffer from a few camera problems and the upgrades you get are somewhat lackluster. It did a really good job making you feel like a bad a** roman leader as you command your troops forward. It is a solid 7 that was worth the price I paid on the steam sale.

I feel that a lot of people might be too harsh on some of the DLC, but this one deserves every negative comment it receives. While I'm not saying it is a bad addition to the game it feels like a free patch that would come with any other game. It is not worth any money as the story takes possibly less than an hour and then you are simply left with a Sims Stuff pack to your settlement. I expected a little more effort.

I have enjoyed playing overwatch in small bursts in between my other games. I feel that Blizzard will try to balance all the characters out as best as possible and in a game like this has got to be very difficult. I don't think this is the greatest thing ever, but again for the 40 dollars I spent I am getting my money's worth. It can be frustrating to get with a bad team that just hurls their corpses at the enemy team one by one, but in games like this sometimes it just happens. You win some and you lose some. Minus one point for BS microtransactions on a system that is designed to purposely slow down your loot box earnings.

I played this game on release day and I really didn't like it. I have returned recently and I have to say that it is really fun. As a buy-to-play MMO the microtransactions are not pay to win and are not shoved in your face. The DLCs are worth it, but you can still enjoy the game without them. All I have to say is that the combat is fun, the character building is unique, the quests are actually very engaging, the dungeons are fun, and the community isn't terrible. I am sad to see so many negative reviews because I haven't had this much fun in an MMO since the original Everquest.

I previously wrote a glowing review of the game and its new faster paced combat. I still stand by how great the combat feels in a shooter. The fights and the level design are perfect. My only complaint is that the ending ****, very little is resolved and it is sequel bait to the max.

This game is a rather solid RTS game. I thought all the factions were interesting and had good units to work with. The goo faction, being incredibly original and unique suffers from poor controls and lack of a "select all army units" button. You are forced to micro-manage a lot of things and if you miss some of them you will needlessly lose units. The story is pretty great and then it just stops. I mean you can't spend an entire game leading into a fearsome foe and then stop when it shows up. If it has a sequel I would get it, but if it doesn't it will suffer as a game that just lead up to nothing. If the ending and controls weren't so bad this would have reached a 7 or 8.

I have seen nothing but very high scores on this one and I am a fan of all the tell-tale games so I figured this one would be the same. They somehow made the time control mechanic more of a hassle than a nice feature. I found some of the main characters to be unlikable which made emotional scenes fall flat for me. Also these games need to stop with gameplay sections that have you wander around collecting items to progress. Finding beer bottles in a junk yard is not gameplay. Also I know that "your choices matter" is more of an illusion than anything, but this one ends up being a huge slap in the face.

I enjoyed this game a lot. It had a great story with some good twists and some really effective atmosphere. I know the entire story doesn't flip around based on your actions, but there were times that I made mistakes and people died because of it. It is one that I almost immediately wanted to replay to see if i could get through the game without losing any characters. I would compare this to the heavy rain and telltale games. More of an interactive movie than game, the controls are wonky but forgivable.

There are a lot of "mixed" reviews on this game. I was a huge fan of all Bethesda games from Morrowind and up. Is it perfect, no. Is it what we were used to, no. Is it a ton of fun that I will probably invest hundreds of hours not even counting the fun of using mods, yes. This is more fallout and yes unlike the catchphrase, war is changing. I don't miss the clunky gunplay from before and don't understand how that is a bad thing. I like customizing the guns, much like enchanting in skyrim. The settlements just add more and if you don't like them, they seem very optional. Overall it has still wowed me and earns a 9 for its pure enjoyment divided by dollar equation.

I had a problem with this game in many of the same reasons I have with other 4 player focused games. Unless you have a group that always wants to play the same games and has an identical schedule you find yourself playing with bots or random people. Both in this game are not good. As a new player you get left behind and before you know it a special is killing you slowly with no way to fight back. The progression is slow and random and with frequent disconnects I found myself 60% through a map and losing everything. I think the game would be a blast if you had three friends tied up in your gaming dungeon, but otherwise it was just frustrating.

This was a game that originally, I thought would be sub-par. What I got was actually a very fun and refreshing take on the genre. I mean they are still zombies and it the weapons are very Dead Islandish, but the parkour makes it so much more fun. This game was a blast to play. First I have to admit I never played Dungeon Keeper. I have to say I like the style and even the comedy aspects of this game. My biggest problem is it switches from a strategy game to a dungeon sim. I think it was difficult to switch back and forth and other than literally picking up your troops and dropping them near attackers they won't do many things you need and you have no direct control while in your dungeon. I found this frustrating, but it is a design decision that didn't appeal to me, but wasn't broken or buggy.

This game tried really hard to bring new life to this genre. I have to give them props for trying new things. Unfortunately for me a lot of these changes don't work for me. XP: You only get this from quests and some other things like finishing a bestiary log (10 skeletons). I see how this could be good, the rogue who used stealth instead of farming all the enemies. For me I find doing a lengthy dungeon run and walking away with no progression makes me mad. Items: They tried to have interesting items and you can even enchant them with extra abilities, but I never found that "Whoa!" item. I was constantly calculating stats that have been renamed. Do I need +2 Reflexes or +1 Perception? Combat: All characters get more abilities that they can use more frequently, great! Unfortunately with a party of six I am constantly clicking 6 sets of abilities to fight wolves, because automated AI is for softcore players I guess. Story and Writing: Its sooo much. They have good writing but it quickly overloads you and I began to just skip through it because I was getting frustrated at the incredibly slow pacing. Quests: A lot of the sidequests are very basic and unimportant. Combine this with no compass or marker (Which older games did too) and I found myself wandering around a lot. Also a lot of these are really a let down. *Minor Spoiler* I fought my way through the castle of a corrupt king and killed him. I saved the land and took over a castle ... except some guy came up and said "Thanks, we'll take it from here." Take it for what you will, this game is trying and I hope it brings back the genre, but I just can't call it BG3.

This is an old game that has gone through a lot of ups and downs. I have left and returned multiple times, but that is just it, I always come back. Other mmos I have left and forgotten while this one stays with me. It is one of the few games left that has the balls to say, clerics are healers--no you don't get a dps spec. Some classes excel at things and are better at things than others, while everything balances out in a way. I hate how every mmo now wants everyone to do everything the same. Rogues should not do the same as a wizard, that is why wizards have a limited mana bar. This game is challenging and takes some learning, but it is one of the few mmos left that don't let you frolic through zones without a care as you mow down everything you see. Without challenge all rewards seem pointless, and this game makes it feel worth the effort.

The story telling is just as strong and the world is even more interesting. After each episode I find myself reading the extras on each character. Something I never do. This game is opposite of most, instead of you feeling weak or average and trying to overcome something greater I feel too powerful. I think I arrived to this game late because I heard it was terrible when it first became available. As of patch 9.0 this game is awesome. This game offers the right amount of challenge, struggle, and of course scavenging for food and medicine. If you like a slower paced game where you build structures and defend against zombies then you will love this game. If you are looking for more of a COD **** zombie experience this is not for you.
