Worth a playthrough just to see the different hacking mechanics. The story wasn't fantastic and the 'side missions' were just time fillers - the gameplay itself was fun however It suffers from the usual ubisoft open world formula.

ZombiU6
Jul 2, 2017
The game isn't bad, it is just clearly meant to showcase tech that was new with the Wii U at the time. Controls are aweful, but this somehow makes the game even more tense. There were multiple points of the game which were genuinely creepy - something I have to give the game credit for. I also like how even a single zombie is a threat in this game, rather than the cannon fodder we are so used to seeing.

What a wonderful game, Talos 1 (the space station it is set on), is an absolute joy to explore. There are so many hidden things to find and a wide range of ways to solve each of the problems you encounter. I definitely felt Bioshock vibes from this game however you are given more freedom at the same time. It is defiitely worth a go - get lost in Talos 1 and don't look back.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare8
Jul 2, 2017
I was pleasently surpirsed by this game, while it understandably can't compare to the original Alan Wake it still takes a lot of what makes the game great and puts a spin on it. Give the game a chance, (without giving spoilers) make sure you stick with it a few times around.

DOOM6

I don't understand the hype around this game, it's a solid shooter for sure but it didn't really excel in any area. The main downside of the game is that it was just a group of different encounters with very little inbetween. Once you've glory killed the demons a couple of times it starts to get old for a core mechanic.

South Park: The Stick of Truth9

A fantastic game, i found it hilarious even though i am not a huge fan of the TV series. The only downside is just how easy the game was, however this is minor as the games humor is its true charm.

Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void8
Feb 22, 2017
A fantastic single player campaign which managed to make even the most dull race seem interesting. Mission design and the unit upgrades just get better with each expansion. The only downside would be parts of the story which follow parts of the plot of WC3 very closely. Very interesting ending also - I wonder where the series will go from here.

Final Fantasy XV9
Feb 22, 2017
I really loved this game, while it definitely got off to a slow start and i questioned if it was truly worthy of the FF title, by the end i was completely invested in the story and the characters. While it is obviously a departure of sorts from previous games i don't believe this is necessarily a bad thing. Several nods to previous games make the game even more enjoyable - prompto humming the victory theme was amazing.

Dead Rising 46

Its a decent enough game to kill a few hours, however most of what made Dead Rising has been removed in order to cater for a wider audience. Also the ending is absolutely atrocious and is obviously dlc bait.

The Walking Dead: Michonne - Episode 1: In Too Deep8

A great little mini-series featuring a recognisable character for fans of the show/comics. While it doesn't have quite the same level of quality as Telltale's main walking dead series, it is definitely worth a play through.

Hitman: Blood Money8

I really liked this game, this was my first encounter with the series and it left me wanting more. The variation in the levels was amazing and the different ways of taking out targets made for an interesting approach to each.

Far Cry 47

Enjoyable game but wasn't as good as #3. The extra missions get dull quickly and the main story while good at some points was poor overall. Kyrat however does look amazing and it was fun to play through once

Destiny5
Nov 11, 2014
The core mechanics are there but this game really is bare bones. The story seems to have been butchered in order to release more DLC, the enemies and missions are very similar and do not provide enough variety for something which essentially turns into a loot grinder. The game is alright but the lack of story and the fact that many games handle the MMO and RPG parts a lot better makes me wonder why so many people are still playing this game

Saw II: Flesh & Blood3

A very Lackluster game somehow manages to be worse than the 1st. The puzzles are rather dumb and the traps were a joke. Having to solve a light puzzle or complete a memory game completely takes away from the situation the victims are in

Halo: Reach6
Jul 6, 2014
The halo series is just not what it once was, the single player campaign was nothing special and the characters were easily forgettable. The multiplayer by this point is still solid but does not stand up to the level achieved by Halo 2 and Halo 3

State of Decay9
Jul 6, 2014
One of, if not the best game available on the XBLA. This was something fresh amongst all the zombie survival games that were just becoming popular, the base mechanics and having to scavenge for food and supplies makes it feel like there are things you should always be doing. Being able to switch between the characters in your base makes for some interesting variation as many have different stats/traits. It definitely suffers from some problems such as frame rate drops and textures not loading properly, and the story wasn't particularly the best - however the situations i would find myself in more than made up for this and in a sense each player will make their own story depending on what happens to the group of survivors/base they develop

Tomb Raider8
Nov 18, 2013
A good reboot of the Tomb Raider series, everything was good apart from the ending which was very anti-climatic. Still the new cinematic style and personality that they have given the game makes it into a very enjoyable experience.

BioShock Infinite8
Nov 18, 2013
A good game that i feel is lives up to the Bioshock name, the scenery and storyline are the best parts of the game and are what make it worthwhile playing. The combat on the other hand is nothing special, with less variety than previous Bioshock games it was a bit of a disappointment. Overall though it is well worth playing

Max Payne 36
Mar 3, 2013
While the game does have some good points to it, it gets beyond repetitive at times. Sometimes poor controls get in the way of the otherwise decent cover based shooting, but it is definitely nothing special. However as with most Rockstar games there are some moments that make the ride worth it

Far Cry 38
Feb 26, 2013
Far cry 3 was an interesting game, mixing exploration, fps and a few rpg elements together to form something which played out rather well. A decent story, good re playability and a rather amazing island to explore make farcry 3 an experience you should definitely check out

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West7
Feb 26, 2013
I Enjoyed this game a lot more than i thought it would, starting off i thought it was just another action-adventure game with platforming elements mixed in but as the game went on i grew to love this game. The environments look amazing, even on the 360's outdated tech and the characters were also well designed. The story seems a bit disjointed from the ending of the game, but it definitely makes you think. and any game that makes you stop and think for a while after completing it is a good one in my books

Borderlands 27
Feb 26, 2013
A good sequel to the first Borderlands but i feel this game is Overrated to an extent. The new scenery was a nice change from Borderlands 1 and the game having a storyline was a definite plus. However the game got a bit repetitive too quickly, the skill-trees weren't up to much and for a game that prides itself on having a huge amount of guns i ended up with similar ones at most points of the game. Overall it was an enjoyable experience but one that good have been improved

Spec Ops: The Line7
Feb 4, 2013
Spec Ops: The line is another game that is all about the story and the message the developers are trying to put across. From a gameplay standpoint the game is completely mediocre with standard cover based shooting and sluggish controls. However this in a sense adds to the message of the game even more, as the game goes on it forces the player to question their progress and the people they have killed as a result as the main character descends into madness. The message works rather well, at one point near the end of the game, you are asked "Do you even remember why you came here?" and this hit hard, and made me think as the game often does

The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series10
Jan 12, 2013
Anyone who remotely likes a story driven game will love this, the game completely went above my expectations and then some. Playing out more like an interactive story than a standalone game allows the player to gain an emotional attachment to the characters like few other games can. It is also one of the only games that has made me well up at the ending. Can't wait for season 2!

Hitman: Absolution8

Very Enjoyable game, ignore the reviews about the stealth and old Hitman game play not being present. Playing on the harder difficulties makes the experience more like blood money and the original games. Overall it was an enjoyable and very satisfying experience

Sniper: Ghost Warrior4
Nov 20, 2012
This game is really lacking in everything, ending was non-existent and for a game supposedly based on sniping very little properly takes place. Most missions involve "stealth" which usually means kill everyone so there's no one left to see you anyway. Such an approach shouldn't be viable on the hardest difficulty, then there are the the non-sniper parts which are completely pointless

Fallout 310
Nov 14, 2012
One of, if not the best game for the current generation. While having not played anything like this before this was a completely fresh idea to take the fallout series into the First Person RPG. The main story of the game is not great but it is just a drop in the ocean compared to the size and scale of the rest of the game. I could easily spent hours upon hours just exploring and coming across different things across the wasteland and have managed to have over 200 hours played across different save files. Every gamer should have played this game and at its current price you would be silly not to at least give this a try

Deadly Premonition10
Nov 14, 2012
This game should be bad, everything about it from the get go looks like its a poor ps2 game ported onto the 360. However if you can look past the graphical style you will be pleasantly surprised with what i would consider one of the best games this generation. The game has a charm like no other and Agent York is in my opinion one of the best Video game characters to date. I highly recommend picking this one up and sticking to it past the shoddy graphics

The Saboteur6
Nov 13, 2012
A good game in its own right, while clearly lacking in many places it has a certain charm about it that kept me coming back until i finished it. That and ridiculous portrayal of the main character Shaun Devlin the Irishman. While I'm not too convinced with the whole black and white idea the game still felt like it was in Paris and as such the setting was one of the major reasons i enjoyed this game. Combat wasn't the best and the free play events got boring quickly but this is still worth checking out now that its a cheap game

Mass Effect 39

An Amazing game, great story which has you completely absorbed in the world of Shepard. This game also incorporates a large number of choices/ significant actions that the player made in games 1 and 2 which makes me impressed at the scope of number 3 -> The number of different ways events can play out based on prior actions/ character sex/ The paragon and Renegade morality system.
