Warhorse Studios did it again. I haven't got that much fun with a game since Kingdom Come: Deliverance. It's more beautiful, the musics are great and I'm loving the story. The combat has been improved a bit. This is pretty much a role-playing game, meaning you are free to do whatever you want as long as you accept to deal with the consequences. This time, it's pretty much your story. There has been some noise around the game because the player has agency over the main character. What I mean is that, if you follow some quest and consistently make choices in a certain direction, there is an optional gay romance available. Note that if you follow trough, it's well established your character is guilty of a deadly sin and a capital crime. Not exactly part of the "message". It's your character so he's exactly as you make him. Mine is straight (and probably faithful to his sweetheart from the first game, I haven't decided yet). It seems it's a concept too big to grasp. It's almost as if it all this outrage was made-up by the extreme left that has always hated the game and still does. It is, after all, a game for Men. TL/DR: great role-playing game (one of the few real ones), brutal, great story, beautiful and great musics.

What kind of sick joke is this? Even putting the awful woke politics aside, the game is awful: Awful dialogues. Awful story. Awful interactions. Lame button-mashing combat. Brain-dead-level puzzles. Everything is "safe", as in "safe-place". Who is it for? Certainly not for gamers. Characters are ugly but at least consistently so. The environments are pretty and that's about all the good there is to say about the game.

Starfield is basically a glorified mod of a Fallout 3 or a Skyrim. The game feels 10 years old with decent graphics. Most characters are ugly as ass though. The "Space" part is only superficial : you don't take off, you don't flight where you want. It's more like a mini-game next to the usual formula. The story is pretty underwhelming. Don't expect anything as epic as in Skyrim or any of the older games. The way it starts is basically : hey you, here is a ship, take the keys and go there. You have no choice in the matter. The writers have obviously never heard of the "Hero's Journey". Lame. There is a big "political" controversy with the game but it feels a bit exaggerated. I don't mind the pronoun choice and the body type 1 & 2 in the character creation as I've not been bothered with it after that point. That being said, an overwhelming amount of your interaction with though/team boss characters will be with women. Men are a rarity in space apparently and it feels very unnatural. I guess the game is pretty woke.

The game crashes regularly, forcing you to repeat some sequences. Something that I find pretty infuriating giving how much I don't like most of the game. One thing I didn't expect it's that it's mostly a parkour game, something that I don't enjoy even when the camera, controls and frame-rate aren't working against you. Here, sometimes, a jump will simply not work or, thanks to a movement of the camera, go in the wrong direction. Fights are silly. It's mostly parry-and-dodge-until-you-can-land-a-hit. Sometimes though your dodges will not work. The story is childish and a lot of dialogues make me think I'm playing a six year old being praised for no reason. Being an adult, if feels insulting. Graphically, it's OK when it doesn't glitch and the music is OK. That' s the reason I'm giving it a 3 and not a 1.

I hate this game so much. I've just finished Demon Souls PS5, so naturally I switched to another difficult game. Alas this game is just stupid. Here, contrary to the Souls-like games I enjoy so much : you die, you restart basically everything : no leveling, no keeping weapons, no nothing. Basically you get your gun, your ugly-ass face and a couple of "artifacts" you grabbed during a previous suicide run. I don't mind the fast-action shooter that looks taken from an old shoot-them-up, that's my style, but it gets repetitive quick. As for the level generation, I already know every room they glue together by heart. First thing I don't like : there is no feel of progression, even if there is some (hidden and minor). Second thing : every time you start, at some point you loot different weapons and some are just not a good match so, like in every other badly designed rogue : you suicide and restart if the first thing you find is garbage, hoping for a better draw. Third thing : I've just encountered the boss, managed to get it down to another phase but then got killed (no health available, no ship healing like before they stupidly nerfed it : bad luck) I die and naturally, I'm back in another instance with basically nothing to show for my "work". Do I want to go through all that to take another shot? Killing my character if I get another bad draw? Hell no! I've seen more than enough. The worst though, is that the game innovates in design stupidity : you cannot stop the console nor play another game until you reach some point about 6 hours in. I'm not a child with ample time on my hands and I like diversity. This is already pretty much a deal breaker, alas it was too late for me when I learned about this. Unless you have ample time, love wasting your time and are prepared to only play that game for a long while, just dodge this bullet. It's just not fun. Maybe try it when it becomes free or something, then be glad you haven't wasted $70 on this, only a few hours you'll never get back.

This game is a bugged exercise in frustration. Even if they ever fix all the bugs that will make you miserable (crashes, lost items, lost saves, bugged quests, ...) the game is simply not good. Let's ignore the story : unless you consider a bus ticket to be the pinnacle of storytelling, you'll ignore it pretty quickly. The map navigation is confusing. Icons labeling a shop or quest don't tell you if what you are looking for is above or below. I got annoyed with this pretty quickly. For the quests though, there is a pathfinder. Alas, it will regularly require you do go through some impossible path and you'll still have to circle around to find your way. Most of the time the view is isometric, but sometimes it show you from the side or another very annoying angle. The encounters are very random and you will either go smoothly from point A to point B, or you will be attacked by mechas the size of the screen and damage-sponge enemies with way more levels than you. After your inescapable death, you'll re-spawn a few screens from there with barely any obstacle on your path ... or you'll die again a few times before you get "lucky". Another kind of random **** is when, during a "boss" fight, you get bounties spawning among the "normal" enemies. They are usually stronger and will make your fight more difficult. Speaking about fights, the combat system is lame. You have two weapons. You can roll-dodge a couple of times, with a cool-down. You can hide behind some obstacle and shoot over it, or below some stairs and cheese through enemies coming from above. Sometimes though there is no cover and you will simply die if you get swarmed by enemies. You could of course think about running around, followed by the enemies (in a word: kiting), dodge some of the damage and fire back. Alas, in good old-fashioned bad design, the enemies will soon rush back, invulnerable to attacks, and heal. You will not of course, guess what's next? One of the worst aspects is that the focus of protection for some damage types. You must equip an armor that will protect you against what your enemies are firing. If you don't, you are toast. But how do you decide what to focus on you ask? Simple, if an encounter kills you in a fraction of a second, change your armor focus to something else. Rinse and repeat as much as needed. It's bad design and, in my opinion, the opposite of fun. Another strictly not fun thing in this game is that, after pushing your way through enemies to reach a boss, you'll sometimes realize you simply cannot win and will need to leave, level up and try again. Yes the quest is recommended for 5 levels below you, it doesn't mean there aren't swarms of enemies 5 levels above you inside. Don't bother sparing "innocent" bystanders. They run to you during fights and you will be too busy trying to survive to ask yourself "is this guy rushing me an enemy or not?". You'll get complains from some alien but otherwise there is no consequences. This is just another minor annoyance of this game. meh Looking at other reviews, I'd ignore the 10 and 0. The game is certainly not worthy of a perfect score, nor is the worst game there is. It's simply mediocre.

The Surge 2 is a "soul"-like in a futuristic setup. It is not overly difficult compared to its pairs. Compared to the first game, the combat system feels much better, faster and more fluid. The world is well crafted and is full of shortcuts to find and unlock. You will often find yourself lost and realize your "safe" point is right behind the door you just unlocked. There are many weapons and armor with their associated perks. You can craft the ones you found schematics. For this you will cut the limbs of our enemies in a gruesome animation. The game is not overly linear. With my preference for exploration I found areas way before I would following the story, which helped for the bosses when I came back in the early parts of the world. Buying the game, I was hoping for a variation of a way more difficult and interesting a game from 2001 called "Shadow of Memories" (also called "Shadow of Destiny"), but only the basic idea is the same. Sexy Brutale is a very easy game that could be summarised in "be at the right place at the right time". You must save guests from assassination and to achieve this you can rewind time to Saturday noon every time you want. Every character in the game is doing the exact same thing every day. You can follow and spy their every move and conversation to devise a way to save one specific target. Most of the solutions are so straightforward calling them puzzle is a bit of an exaggeration. The story is pretty easy to guess and you'll see the twists coming from several miles away. I've liked the music, the graphics and the little details of the back-story. The one part that disappointed me is that I've tried several time to see if I could manage saving everyone in a single rewind. Alas the game stops you as soon as you save anyone else than your target and rewinds the game for you. Until the end, I've expected this to be the final challenge but : nope. I've been on the fence choosing between "recommend" and "not" but it's generally enjoyable so it's a thumbs up. Just don't buy it expecting a challenge.

Recommended? Why, it's only one of the best games of all times, has been since 1995. It's certainly on the top of my JRPG list, up there with Final Fantasy VI. Chrono Trigger, for the two at the back of the class, is an epic quest trough time with a world to explore and, obviously, save. The characters are interesting and likable and their 16-bits beautiful design from Akira Toriyama only adds to their charm. The musics are very good too. There are many choices to make, many secrets to find and they all have consequences. Some are minor but some are pretty major too. There is also a new game plus opening some opportunities. I've played the game several times on many systems and my favorite version of the game is still the SNES one but this one (Steam) is good too (although I'm not a fan of the added videos). Updated: Close to the end, I've noticed the quirks and the general emptiness of the game. I never had a crash though and I liked the story. It's just it doesn't look so good once you scratch the varnish. I've adjusted the score accordingly. Original: Cyberpunk 2077 is a dark, sometimes depressing, dystopian, resolutely adult-only game with an accurate take on the cyberpunk genre. Gamer discretion is advised : there is violence, gore even, and it doesn't shy from sexual references. The rendering is beautiful and the music fits well with the atmosphere. The ray-tracing clearly adds the the realism. I've found the story very enjoyable. The characters I've encountered are well fleshed out. I love interacting with them, it's fantastic. It has been a long time since I felt an emotional response to a video game character. The world feels alive, even if it's for a short time given that violence is never far. During some transitions, I feel like in a good movie. Sometimes a depressing scene reminds me of the original Blade Runner. If I wanted to be nitpicking, ... One thing that could be improved as far as I'm concerned is the key customization. I've been able to reconfigure what I needed but I would like to be able to reconfigure everything. Also, I've encountered once an issue consistent in one pedestrian disappearing mid-walk. I've heard some people had performance issue, my machine isn't exactly weak though, and the game is installed on an high-speed NVMe. This is the best game I've played in a long time, by far : I'm not easily pleased. Where do I begin? It's a mix between Assassin's Creed and Zelda Call of the Wild. The thing is, AC isn't a platformer. The controls are awfully not adapted for this. Except many death-by-control : failed double-jump (so many), character catching a wall instead of walking, character falling instead of catching a ledge, ... They sometimes feel sluggish compared to the precision required for a platformer. On another hand, combat feels like AC but without any kind of punch. It's also very easy (if a chore). The "puzzles" aren't : it's basic, ridiculously easy to understand but sometimes tricky to do given the controls but that's it. I dread having to waste more time with that crap. The world is big and colorful, but empty : the tasks/quests are repetitive and uninspired. Do the same easy task for the nth time and get basically two cents for it. Do it a few more time and you can get some marginal improvement of your character. A few minutes after the start of the game, I wanted to shut-up the "storytelling". I understand they are meant to be humorous. They are not. I'm not sure they are even fit for a 12 year old : childish sex allusions, fart-level jokes and other witless attempts at being amusing. Couldn't they find dialogs with a bit more variety and imagination? Maybe hire a professional with a sense of humor for a start? There is also some NPC that stays at your "camp". It is always suggesting to spend money in the shop. I've tried to kill it : no way. Cutting the voices is an improvement. As for the characters look weird. For some reason the male hero has a kind of softness in his face, his eyes remind me of a maiden in love, he is girly. I want to punch him every time. If I could I'd erase his eyes, nose, mouth : make it a blank empty face. It would feel way better. This game feels aimed at a younger audience. Given the void of real content and that constant suggestion to buy from the shop, I don't think it's even appropriate. In a nutshell : it's garbage. Given the time, there are way better games to chose from. If you have read this and still buy the game, don't complain.

Let aside the identity politics (skip story, skip dialogs : who cares?*), the game suffers from several issues : technical and otherwise. First, speaking from the point of view of a HOTAS player: Flight sticks have an horrible big dead zone. Some actions are needlessly cumbersome and horribly designed (I would need two thumbs to do one of them, when using simply 2 buttons would have made it both easy and efficient : no can do). As far as the game goes, there are stuttering problems even with high-end hardware. Playing, it took me a while to realise listening to the objective was counter-productive : kill everything and do NOT do what they tell you to do, it's usually a one-way ticket to lose. During one of my earliest missions, I died several times before understanding I was too close from some "damaging area" while chasing other fighters. It didn't appear to be a bother for any other ship but mine. I also despise the small maps (turn around now or die, whoops : too late). Your "team" often flights next to you which makes it weird when you realise they are following you following them in the wrong direction. At the end of one mission, escaping a place at high velocity (it was a requirement), I found myself way past the rendez-vous point when it finally appeared after the pointless chit-chat ended. Boom : I'm dead. You can imagine I will not try this again to get the survivalist achievement. Speaking about stupid or unfair deaths : at the end of yet another mission (Empire), I managed to destroy specific parts of a big enemy ship to ease its obliteration. My this last task done, I'm peacefully heading to the hangar to end it. A few seconds away from the door, from the corner of my eye I see a Empire support ship (ally) coming fast from the right, reaming into me : boom, dead. To the list of annoyances, you can add the intrusive tutorials who DEMANDS you to do some action while you already did it, hiding your current target with a stupid window and of course making you fail what you were doing (most of the time, putting shield front and firing to a squad doing the same to you). You can imagine how this kind of ends and how frustrating it is. Imagine that all this is just from the top of my head. The game isn't very expensive but it's worth way less. *) If you do, you can also skip the game. You'll get allergies.

I'd love to hear the Bowie-like one that was played in one of the very few great moments of the game. Because of these good points, I've rated this a 4. What follows is why I don't want to give more that that. The story started well. It's weird, twilight zone style, but when I've reached the end it felt unfinished: like peeling a fruit and finding out it was all peel. What I really didn't like though was basically everything else: Whoever thought it was a good idea to lose 10% of your "money" for each death should be flogged. The fights are boring. They are mostly too easy, but sometimes stupidly difficult. An example would be hiding some key points in a (boss) fight in areas way too dark to see where you are killed in one shot. Another example would be expecting you to find some items you don't know you need, hidden behind some panels you don't know exist in some dark area while an invulnerable monster teleports to you to one-shot you. Yet another example would be to swarm you of monsters where you have no chance of survival if you don't know what spot will keep you "safe". How about letting you go in an area where you have no chance to progress? (Giving you a mission for it and closing the door behind you at some point.) Of course you don't know this and reaching some obstacle you hope some tricky jump-dodge will get you through. All you get for your trouble is getting killed until you give up. The controls do not feel right either. The ways you use some powers are unintuitive. Every time I've started the game I had to take two minutes to adjust to it. Speaking of the controls: you often need to "grab" an object. One would expect the one at the middle of the screen to be the target instead of some random garbage located out of your field of vision when it's not right behind you. Yet another crap that can make you killed. Avoid.

I had the game, I got it refunded. Fun ? Certainly not if you are playing solo. It's generally an adequate, if easy, shooter, with the annoying problem of "big" monsters sometimes spawning in your back although you cleaned everything. (Taking you with your pants down as they can sometimes kill you in one attack, take half your total ammo to kill while you are busy with 4 or 6 annoying buggers and an exploding blob) Speaking of "big" monsters some are just impossible to kill if you play solo and you don't have an obstacle to give you a chance to hit their back. (I'm looking at you shielded dual-sword rabbit) The inexcusable problem is that bosses are absolutely lame, it's where the "Souls" comparison stops. In Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro bosses are hard but interesting and fun. They have a personality. (I've finished them all) In this game bosses are just based on swarming you with infinite respawning waves of critters while the "real boss" kills you as soon as you are finally "stuck". It's not a challenge, it's just ridiculous. My first boss was an archer that shot arrows that would kill me with one hit or a rain of arrow from some above dimensional portal that would follow me. Said boss would of course teleport on me, killing me, or at some point the swarm would spawn in front of me while I was dodging an attack, killing me, or i would simply end up blocked for half a second, doing melee with my guns needing a reload and be killed by any of the attack of the boss. And of course the "dodge" doesn't work : given the long duration of the attack I ended up being killed at the end of the roll animation. Thinking about it, the layout of the boss room may also have been randomly generated and part of the problem (it's literally a kill-room against a ranged, teleporting, buffed critter) I've farmed, buffed, and equipped (it's not my first rodeo). After trying many times never managing to get the guy below 50% I gave up : I was not fighting a Souls boss, I was swatting at a bunch of deadly mosquitoes. Without the artificial difficulty of the swarm, the "boss" would have been toasted at the first or second try. Of course given the of random generation, your mileage may vary : other players had different bosses. One fact is clear : this uninspired game is about luck and group. You have been warned.

There are several issues in the game but the one that killed it for me is the awful fish-eye perspective. That and I never had a reply from support about the issue.

Monster Hunter player since the PS2 version, I was wary of the several simplifications. It turns out its for the better. Fetching grind stone and having to make/buy your tools (pickaxes, ...) were only slowing down progression. I don't miss paint-balling a monster to track him when he flees, hoping the mark does not vanishes : the flies are a nice replacement. Although there is some grind in the game (if you want to loot the rare carve that will allow you to craft the weapon you covet) it only makes you better at hunting the monsters. The various challenges will keep you occupied for a hundred of hours at the minimum. And if you want to do everything, maybe 500 hours will do it. If you like exploration and hunting, you have to try this game.

Too much Fedex between the good parts. I stopped caring about the story pretty quickly and of the three months I've got to play, I did 120 hours which were mostly a chore with a few nice dungeons in between. Every time I think I'll play a bit with friends, I find something else to do : washing the dishes, taking a nap, playing a game that is challenging interesting and fun, ... I've been told it will be better once I'm level 70 ... but i doubt it's worth the pain going there.

I expected an adventure game where my choices would affect the outcome. Instead I get an pseudo-interactive movie where my choices are mostly cosmetic, when they are not blatantly ignored by referencing a choice I specifically didn't do. (Plot-hole galore) What I certainly didn't expect are the QTE that sometimes take you by surprise and can be more difficult than for an action game. Which would be bearable if on top of this, there was a rewind feature (It use to be the case I believe). Most of the time it does not matter, but when it does and you've failed a critical QTE by one press, you can only restart the whole chapter or accept the pitiful outcome. When I want an action challenge, I play Demon Souls, Monster Hunter or Bloodborne. This was meant to be relaxing. I see no point enduring more of this : I'll never play another Telltale, ever.

It took me about 130 hours to finish this 80-era masochistic game. Beautiful, dark, depressing and unforgiving. Fear and traps at every angle. Every misstep is fatal. But when you kill a boss ... you have killed ... a boss.

A worthy game in the Demon Souls spirit. Just don't stop playing for months when you are in front of a boss. You'll be royally ... (Based on a true story ^_^)

Elite for PS4 is a very difficult game. On PC you can have very complex joysticks, a keyboard, a mouse etc. Here everything has to be done with combinations of buttons or going through menus. Naturally one would expect such a complicated game would require a tutorial worthy of its complexity. Alas the tutorial is really bad. It gives you partial information of what to do, sometimes in a hurry and you are left at it. Sometimes it stops working. If you don't do exactly what it wants in the order it wants, you most likely will have to retry as it also blocks commands that it did not suggest yet for the current sequence of operations (or the game is as horribly bugged as I've seen in other reviews. I'll never know.) On the first mission, everything was more or less fine. On the system jump mission, that I had to retry multiple times, would have it be so difficult to tell WHERE the hell was the entrance of the station (shaped like a isocahedron and spinning)? Why, on each retry, was the tutorial complaining when I selected the station like it just told me to ? Why do I have to ask permission for landing several times ? Could it explain to me why I was unable to deploy the landing gear using the commands I learned and had to go to the right panel menu to do so ? Why after finally landing I was left to myself, not knowing the next step, and had to restart the mission all over again? (To see I actually did finish the mission, it just did not tell me nor proposed me to finish that training. The tutorial broke (again) from the point I found the entrance of the station) Why, at some point when I was still trying to understand how to approach, a base was I getting contradictory messages between the voice telling me to wait (so I missed the target) then complaining, and the system telling me I was going too fast (and the voice telling me I still stopped too fast) Would have it be difficult for the tutorial helping me when I was unable to super-speed with a cryptic message and had to self-destruct and retry (with the next mission I finally got it was because I pressed square alone which put weapons out, which is what is meant by "hard-point", gee thanks for nothing) On the fight mission, could it explain BEFOREHAND how to have good maneuverability to follow a target or escape being one instead of expecting me to shoot ? Would have it be difficult to pause and tell me that I would have to switch weapon systems BEFORE I was almost destroyed by the second ship ? (My ship was destroyed by the time I entered the command) On the advanced fight mission, the same comments as before are applying with the added twist that I would have liked to know what to do before being swarmed by these two or three ships (that stupid voice did not finish its next tutorial part sentence : I was already dead). I bought that game for about $30 on the PlayStation Store, and it seems cannot get a refund. No matter : I still feel I've been cheated of $230. The price of that junk plus the minimum rate I take for the time I lost on it.

Bait & Switch. To get the true ending of this straightforward uninspired story you either need to grind (not fun, not a game) either need to give more real cash. These micro-transactions are like gangrene. Any game with them should be avoided like the plague. Maybe after a few losses, the crooks at the top will realize making a good full game is the only way they'll get our money. ("our" as in "players with a modicum of self-respect"). If you bought the game, you have been had. Forever remember what gaming site betrayed you telling the game was good.

Destiny "You have been disconnected" 2 : This glorified extension of Destiny is more of the same. The only real difference so far is that you get disconnected all the time for several minutes. To add to the frustration, some missions have to be restarted from the start, again and again. Among other thing there is this sub-class mission that I keep doing up to the end and, after the victory video, the next screen does not load and I still have to make the mission. Avoid.
