Shadow the Hedgehog5
May 27, 2025
Shadow the Hedgehog: the most guiltless pleasure in video game history. I played this from beginning to end even with broken mechanics, poor control input and bad voice acting. The game is bad, nobody is denying that. But there is fun to be had with it, if you know where to look.

Disney DuckTales: Remastered10
Feb 15, 2023
DuckTales Remastered is the ultimate remake of one of Capcom's oldest and most difficult games. Most of the cast was reunited for this game and I thank everyone at WayForward for making that possible. The game has been completely remade and given several quality of life improvements. It is still a fun platformer with an unlockable art gallery as an added bonus, astounding!

Battlefield 20422

Gee, another Battlefield game released in a broken and bug-riddled state. WHAT A SHOCK. Also the music sounds bad too. I wouldn't be surprised if the devs just gave up and quit EA entirely.

Sonic Heroes1
Jun 25, 2020
I remember beating this game back in 2003, but now visiting it years later I have no clue how we all just accepted this completely broken, buggy, unfinished game. It's like we were all just accepting it and Sonic '06 is what finally made everyone say "Hey, we're not taking this **** anymore". The play testers must have been brain dead for this to have passed.

Dead or Alive 61
Mar 3, 2020
Okay, KOEI Tecmo, you want to play with fire? Because we can play with fire! An actual fighting game was made - a solid one, if you can believe it- Dead or Alive came back and to quote the devs "We wanted to make an EVO level fighting game". This almost made us forget that DOA5 had one more version made with 7 Season passes of extra content. So now here we are, after the game turned one year old; we finally see just how despicably greedy Tecmo KOEI is. They love it, they love monetizing every single little individual piece of content for their game making it cost well over the price that the game should cost. Would you actually pay $3,000 for a video game? This has to be the absolute breaking point for the company.

Not as good as I was expecting, and somehow subpar from CyberConnect2. You know, the Asura's Wrath developers. They were on the right track, hopefully the coming DLC will give us a better experience.

"We'll do better going forward. But our actions are going to matter more then any of these words." --J. Allen Brack Yep, you sure showed us through your actions with this hot pile of garbage. Game hasn't changed much beyond the visuals, still just an 8/10 But I'm gonna have to take a few points off for all of Blizzard's controversy surrounding it.

Super Mario Maker1
Jan 28, 2020
When this game released, it was super fun. I had so much fun making levels, playing other people's levels, finding some great creators, commenting on levels on how fun they were. At release, this game was a 9 outta 10. Fast forward 3 months. The number of troll levels increases tenfold, Content Creators from YouTube get so much attention that it completely overshadows everyone else, Game Grumps makes over 100 episodes of their dumb show trying to beat levels and wastes even more of our time. After 3 months I was being sent troll messages and barely anyone was playing my levels, I was beginning to despise the game. Next thing we knew, Nintendo was just straight up deleting levels. My own levels were deleted permanently from the game's server, I was starting to get angry. Fast forward even more and Nintendo announces that Miiverse is being shut down; every post, every picture and every reaction to these levels were about to just disappear and never return. I have no idea if the messages were kept on a separate server, because by then I had completely given up on this "Game" that used to make me smile. By the end of this game's life, it is a 1/10. Thankfully they turned everything around with the sequel.

Super Mario 3D World10

Despite the death of the Wii U, Super Mario 3D World continues to amaze me with the sheer volume of content. The number of levels that you can replay is unbelievable, I still have fun playing all of them and I am still finding more green stars! Also, if this game could spawn an entire spin-off budget title like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, then Nintendo was clearly doing something right around this time. 10 outta 10!

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot8
Jan 28, 2020
First off, I am a huge supporter of CyberConnect2. I will however not allow that bias to interfere with my review. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a faithful adaption of the manga/anime that we all love with some extra side content. The game's fighting system can be a bit clunky at times, but I do enjoy using different characters when the story calls for it. I'm gonna sink more hours into it to see how it turns out, but I am having some fun with it.

What's this? A good Terminator game? From the developers of the Rambo game? How unexpected! I played for a few hours and had some good fun, some stealth segments, some Elder Scrolls looting system, tasteful sex scene, How the critics found this below a 7 is a mystery to me.

Mega Man 112
Dec 14, 2019
I love Mega Man.... that must be why I hate him so much. For some strange reason Mega Man 11 yet again ditches the fixed difficulty we experienced in 9, instead opting for a Difficulty Selection menu (laughs). It's not even a difficulty selection, because all the game modes past Easy are don't even alter the difficulty one bit; it just makes energy pellets drop less and less. One difficulty just makes you start the stage over. I don't even think Mega Man 10's Hard mode was that brutal. You would think that Capcom would have more respect for it's flagship mascot, but this was apparently a budget title and it shows pretty regularly. Oh right, the gear system, It's there I guess. I mean it comes in handy only about 9 or 10 times in the game, but I found myself trying not to use it most of the time. Also, the the final battle with Dr. Wily isn't even that memorable. I played it like back in 2018, but I can't even remember what it was. The whole game just seems forgettable and it makes me sad. If this is where the future of Mega Man games are headed, I think I'd rather go back to the games before it.

Resident Evil 29
Dec 14, 2019
Having never played the original RE2, this was a chance for me to play essentially a new Resident Evil game. I think it's a little odd how the rooms work now, but it is better with the RE4 point of view. I haven't finished it because I got too spooked when Mr. X killed me, either way it is a very fun game and I highly recommend it.

Tekken 77
Dec 11, 2019
With this being the first Tekken game that I've ever played, I'm surprised I never got into it despite how much praise there was for it. I was very pleased with how the game plays, It reminded me of Soul Calibur more then anything. I mostly tried the Arcade mode and online mode, and the netcode could use a bit of a tune up. Overall, it proves that the Tekken series can still have fresh gameplay. On the other hand it does indulge in the Season Pass, a scam started by Rockstar Games to sell missing content back to the end user. It's an insulting thing that Tecmo Koei has implemented into DOA5 Last Round each costing up to $99 and it's only for character costumes. With Tekken 7 having only 3, it's probably safe to say the game's done with characters by now.

Bloodborne10
Dec 7, 2019
Bloodborne is probably one of my most favorite games by From Software. It's got all the elements of Dark Souls, but instead has lovecraftian horror as it's main inspiration. Using the weapons feels great and getting a critical strike is so satisfying. Finding all the bosses was an adventure in and of itself, as the game rewards you for exploring. I highly recommend it for anyone who has a PlayStation 4.

Predator: Concrete Jungle7
Nov 23, 2019
One of the best Predator games and my brother's favorite. Even with it's outdated graphics, it still makes you believe that you are the predator and they enemies in the game are your prey. From what I've played it is quite fun for a linear adventure game and has a bunch of fun mechanics. It's too bad you don't see very many games like this nowadays.

Catherine: Full Body8
Nov 23, 2019
Once again, I empty my bank account for a big box of goodies from ATLUS. The thing about the first Catherine is that it was mostly just to test a new engine possibly for Persona 5, but as the actual story around the game's mechanics grew, so too did the game's cult following. Playing it again makes me feel like I really have been transported back in time to when game publishers didn't want every conceivable and inconceivable penny from you. The game is almost the same, but with an HD upgrade and a new character with her own side story connected to the main character Vincent. I have yet to finish it, but so far it is just as good as the original!

The Outer Worlds9
Nov 23, 2019
The Outer Worlds is Obsidian's great return to the gaming world and for the first time, an actual threat to Bethesda. Using Unreal Engine 4, the best game engine known to man, this game gives everything good from a Bethesda Studios game and none of the bad things associated with them *Cough* Fallout 76 *Cough* What's best is so far I have yet to run into any kind of glitches in the game despite Obsidian having a track record for finished PC games with glitches going as far back as Fallout back when they were still Interplay. Following this up with expert writing and story telling we've come to expect from them, it makes for an intriguing and fun video game from start to finish. Jim Sterling was right to make a whole episode about this titled "Bethesda is officially Obsolete".

Shenmue III5
Nov 23, 2019
I was hoping for a brand new entry in the Shenmue series that would implement all the new things game developers had learned over the past 10 years. I was sorely disappointed to find out that the game is basically one that was shelved for almost 20 years like opening a time capsule with someone's lunch inside. The game industry has moved on and this game (and Yu Suzuki) clearly have not.

Sonic Mania10
Nov 14, 2019
After 20 years of games ranging from mediocre to downright bad, a bunch of Sonic fans that made their own fangames decided "Hey, we're not gonna take this anymore" and just made a classic Sonic game. I love this game, I bought the collector's edition and had an absolute blast playing it. Everything about Sonic Mania is a celebration of how great the old Genesis games were, reflected in it's incredible soundtrack and excellent visuals. Now that all the critics have given it almost universal acclaim, I can safely say that everyone involved in the game's production deserves an award.

Sonic Heroes8
Nov 14, 2019
Sonic Heroes is one of those titles that you think "was that game good"? and have to check on it to see if you were right. The fact is, there are good parts of Sonic Heroes. The bad news is there are also tedious and downright frustrating parts. Sonic Adventure 2 introduced us to what I like to call the Lucky Charms Effect: a game that is mostly dull whole grain bits that are either bad or slightly bad, while you pick out the good and sweet marshmallow bits and those give you a positive experience. Having played it recently, it made me remember that there were some pretty decent 3D Sonic games.

Anthem1
Nov 14, 2019
A "game" that like to show off lighting effects and background but that's about it. I tried to play the BETA, but was kicked out so many times I just gave up. Actually seeing the game play out, it's actually very bad. The deadly spiral of "Live Services" has shown that it's not only a business model that doesn't work, but they have to rush out an unfinished product to market just to get their return investment. A complete and total failure that may mean the end for Bioware, devoid of content and replayability that is an absolute joke, nobody should still be playing this game. The loot shower bug was the highest point of this "game" and EA knew this. Now I look at it on store shelves for $20 and laugh.

Fallout 37
Nov 14, 2019
Looking back on it, Fallout 3 wasn't all that special. It had some fun ways to keep playing, but ultimately it had so many bugs it had to be patched almost constantly. After receiving praise for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, mad with power decided to make a sequel to a beloved franchise that they had acquired after Interplay transitioned into Obsidian. No longer a point and click RPG, but a first person shooter with RPG elements. I liked playing this when it came out, I played to the end (before the DLC ruined that) and had fun with all the strange weapons. After the recent blunders with Fallout 76, it's hard to ignore how klunky this game actually plays.

A remake of a remake, but still such a good RPG that we needed it again! I played all the way through and was very satisfied with the game. It has fun and quirky characters, wonderful animated cutscenes, and a lighthearted story that kept me engaged. For a game that was released near the end of the Sega CD's life, it still holds up.

Death Stranding5
Nov 10, 2019
I went from hyped about Kojima's new game to complete abandonment after what IGN had to report on it. Now, I'm not saying I trust IGN one bit, but the fact that they were brutally honest about how the game plays was shocking. Once I had a chance to actually see what Jim Sterling had to say it was all over, this whole project was to make a 70+ hour movie and Kojima trolled us all on it. I had a collector's edition waiting for me at GameStop that I kindly waved goodbye to, getting a refund. I'm sure there is an audience for this game, I'm just not part of that audience. Time to look forward to some other games that are being released.

Such a brutal and challenging game and I love it! Being one of the Kickstarter backers, I had faith in this game from the start. I had fun starting out, but now I'm stuck. I'm sure I'll get over the hurdle, it's forgiving enough so that I can actually get further. I highly recommend this game.
