The Morning Show

There isn’t a weak link in The Morning Show. Aniston is flawless. ... Everyone else – especially Billy Crudup as the network suit playing seven-dimensional chess with everyone – matches her point for point. The script has depth and endless torque and the whole thing is an exhilarating rush that makes room for nuance, thought and – though it’s definitely a drama – humour.

Far from suffering difficult-second-series syndrome, the new run of this massively fun takedown of seething rivalries in the American TV business is even more ambitious and edgy than the first.

So, sure, it’s all a little glossy and undercooked. “The Morning Show” got fluffier when it stopped being about the dark underbelly of a silly little morning show and became an earnest drama about the fate of a network instead. But hey: It’s still a lot of fun to watch — maybe over a pastry, with a cup of coffee.

While Alex and Bradley’s arcs suffer, and Cory feels like he’s overstayed his welcome despite Crudup’s natural charm and undeniable charisma, Stella and Mia shine, and Celine and Miles are interesting enough to justify their addition to an already too-packed cast. I was rarely particularly impressed by The Morning Show Season 4, but I was also definitely never bored.

Ultimately “The Morning Show” suffers from haphazard storytelling and an emphasis on the least compelling corners of this show-bizzy side of TV news.

“The Morning Show” tries to be many things—camp comedy, workplace drama, and hard-hitting treatise on the wobbly intersection of politics and show business. The trouble is that each of those conflicting modes collide at any given moment, so you’re never sure what side of the line the writers and performers are on.

It’s hard to muster up any real zeal about The Morning Show – it’s all so silly that it renders itself beyond reprehension. The only joy in watching it now lies in wondering just how far they will push the boundaries of plausibility this time.

Incredible. Every episode drags me in until I can’t wait for the next. Compelling stories and actors that make you forget that you are watching actors perform. Jennifer Aniston is amazing as is Steve Carell. It took me some time to actually start liking Reese Witherspoon’s portrayal and character, but by the middle of season 2 she is knocking it out of the park. The supporting cast is also top notch. The show is one of those that you can truly sit back and binge watch. I highly recommend to anyone that just wants to get lost for a bunch of hours. *** It does contain some sensitive subjects that may not be right for everyone!*** I don’t want to leave spoilers, but do look into it a little further if you are a sensitive person!

Shows like these aren’t my typical fare, but I think this has been a great show that can only get better.

Fails in a big way to deliver on the promise of the first 2 episodes. Too bad, because the excellent cast--Billy Crudup in particular--stands out.

i enjoyed the references to covid and thought that the season would improve after a very thin first - but then two episodes in particular sent the series crashing: the visit to italy episode was without any purpose other than for ms. aniston to take over. and again in the final episode, ms. aniston again overwhelmed the series in what can only be said to be an endless emmy-focused monologue that must have left the writers gagging - it certainly left me doing the same.
