What keeps Scorsese up at night? Who does he see when he looks in the mirror, besides the underdog? Those are questions left unaddressed in the docuseries. But perhaps some of the answers were always there in his movies.

The self-interest is overt. .... Notably, the project doesn’t tackle the reports of David Beckham’s infidelities and how this affected her experiences, her outlook, her choices.

Both too long (it shoulda been a movie) and too short (it doesn’t feel like anything happens), “Chad Powers” is a fumble. “Necessary Roughness” plays like a masterpiece by comparison.

A lackluster affair, the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards were emblematic of an entertainment industry that doesn’t know whether it’s coming or going.

Something about this season feels like a step down. .... Well, details-schmeetails. The jokes always land.

A show like “Parks and Recreation” abandoned that formula altogether and I respect that “The Paper” also wants to change things up by putting a dedicated but somewhat hapless Jim Halpert equivalent in charge. A worthy experiment. But one that ultimately doesn’t work.

None of this is halfway interesting, and when the show cuts away from the central trio of Rudy, Bruiser and Deck, the series loses whatever snap it has, largely because the other characters are bland and undeveloped. Even Rudy is dull. That’s a matter of the writing but also the casting.

Though set in the ’80s, “The Newsreader” feels timely, especially in the way it portrays journalists wanting to do the right thing when it comes to holding power to account, only to be overruled by corporate bosses. It’s also a show attuned to the smallest details of an actor’s performance. .... Even the show’s writing is delicious.

But while the premise of “Demascus” is enticing — what might our lives look like with small changes? — the six-episode series doesn’t live up to its initial promise. There is a “solution” offered by the final episode that explains everything we’ve seen up to that point, but instead of resonating, it felt somewhat pat.

None of it would work without Momoa’s considerable screen presence.
