The chemistry between Lycurgo and Parkes is immediate, her mix of playful forthrightness and fearful vulnerability coiling tightly around his combination of wild rage and growing inner strength. They give The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself a sweet humanity but, when its claws are out, its wickedness delivers on the promise of its name.

The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself looks and sounds great. ... There’s a minor effort to critique the Western prejudice towards order and orthodoxy, but really this is a show about swearing, blood and sex.

I haven't seen such a strong thing for quite a long time. It made my tears come out more than once and made me feel I was watching something true and worthy.
In a time when many feelings are kinda hidden or forbidden in art (probably for educational purposes, which is harmful to art itself), this is not such kind of a show. I saw here a lot. It touched my heart and mind. I think I can name this movie among those that had the greatest influence on me.
My great thanks to those who made it, despite current trends.

Quite a surprising YA fantasy series. Presents all the fantasy tropes, and yet it feels fresh and knows what it's doing. Hope it gets renewed!

We’re not completely sure that the story in The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself won’t get muddled again like it was at the beginning of the first episode. But we have faith that it will keep things focused on Nathan and his attempt to keep evil at bay.

The Bastard Son and the Devil himself sits closest to is Shadow and Bone – also from Netflix – in that fairly cliched young adult fantasy tropes are elevated by some snappy writing by an excellent scribe and a well cast group of likeable actors.

Excellent series. I love this unique world of witches created by the writer, and the chemistry between the leads is terrific. It isn't your typical fantasy show and it definitely has a lot of dark moments, but I was immediately hooked and cannot wait for the second season.

It started great, but it suffers from the same problems as other "teen" target audience, it pulls to much to love and romance and forgets about what is important. Only worth watching the first and second ep, the third is a big no.

Saw the positive ratings - granted, not many reviews yet - so thought I'd give it a try. First two episodes were okay. The quality of the acting is subpar. Not really drawn to any of the characters. And then watched the third episode and decided that was it. There are a lot of movies and series to watch. This one just didn't pull me in.
