Y2K was good and offered a different take on the AI takeover concept. It was nice seeing Alicia Silverstone on screen again. The film felt nostalgic for ’90s babies, capturing that early-2000s parody movie **** mix of weird comedy and more serious moments worked surprisingly well. While the plot itself wasn’t meant to be taken too seriously, the film leaned into that chaotic Y2K-era ****’s not necessarily something I would suggest for a family movie night or even a friends’ movie night—more like background entertainment. Nonetheless, if you’re bored and looking for something new to watch, I would still recommend giving it a try.

Um filme com uma ótima nostalgia e vibe anos 2000,mais sinceramente,tem uma comédia bem desnecessária em alguns trechos e a história não foi algo que me prendeu muito a atenção do meio para o final,oque no começo tinha prendido,oque mais salvou para mim nesse filme foi a nostalgia e as ótimas atuações.

A única coisa boa aqui, é que os roteiristas prestam uma boa homenagem aos anos 1990, com tiradas que vão desde o uso da internet discada a soprar cartuchos de videogame, e com isso garante certas piadas caprichadas na nostalgia. Mas a história se perde, uma mistura de robozinhos a Power rangers, uma correria sem sentido, e um plot pra lá de previsível. Fora o romance sem sal com a "Branca de neve".

Y2K classic project from A24. Cheap, primitive and predictable. In the first 5 minutes it becomes clear which project you sat down to watch and immediately it becomes clear that you are not even facing B-trash, but something easier. And you either turn it off right away and forget about it or watch it purposefully. Sometimes trash can be so bad that it's even good. But Y2K is not the case. Yes, it's not the worst cast, but the script is as illogical and stupid as possible, everything is terribly shot and the film looks worse than some short films on YouTube, shot for a pack of crackers. Do you like A24 projects? I don't condemn, very often their projects are underestimated. But Y2K clearly does not belong to them. I don't advise anyone to waste time on this.

The movie starts out as, what seems like, a very decent teen comedy set in 1999 on New Years Eve.... think Superbad. But then the movie takes a crazy 540 degree turn into a SciFi Channel-esque comedy horror that is just so so terrible. Now, I give this movie props for trying something new and taking a risk, but it doesn't take anything seriously after that. The story, the characters, the time period. And somehow Fred Durst shows up for the final 3rd and we are all supposed to pretend he is not 25 years older. Too bad, because I was all set for a R-rated teen comedy set in this often unexplored time period.

This movie was very bizarre, the design of the singularities was great. I’m still not sure if the movie was good or not.

When i saw the trailer, I was dreaming of another version of "this is yte end", but with 2000 setting, and younger actors. Andeven if with less panache, the first 20/25 min thats what looked like...till after the disapointing of sorts(, massacre sequence(was short and rushed if you ask me). Then it becomes a hot mess of characters dojng random ****, horrible writing, acting, stupid set pieces and script desicions and a WTF cameo...dropping what could be a nice 2000s throwback horror comedy, and becoming a confused, embarrasing and stupid mess. It has its little moments though, like a 0.20£ bag of cheetos. Shorts but nice.

Simply put, this was one helluva awful movie that only got worse as it went along

The 90s nostalgia in Y2K really stands out, with a cool soundtrack and plenty of throwback moments for sure, the intentionally crappy 90s computer visual that are well recreate, fine performances, and that's about it i guess for what stands out the most in Y2K, the story feels really underdeveloped, the 90s cheesiness is there, though it's hard to tell if it's intentional or just an awkward attempt at serious scenes, it's computer "AI" apocalypse at its best, unfortunately the execution falls short, even in this really well made looking film, A24 production was no kidding and surely they have the style for the film, it just the story and the characters development that lacks, give it more runtime and more depth to it, Y2k could be something more, i don't hate the film, but it lacks some of the most critical elements needed to make it truly memorable.

Y2K tries to take the formula of popular teen comedies like ‘Superbad’ and wrap it around tech horror but it ultimately fails to give us anything but a mess. It relies hard on your knowledge and memories of Y2K, 1999/2000 trends in music, and low-budget horror films to carry the humor but its story falls apart halfway through. The 3rd act is a mess only saved by one of the most ridiculous cameos with jokes at their own expense. In the end, Y2K can be funny with some laugh-out-loud moments, but most of those moments are at how ridiculous what just happened was. If you were a teen to 20 something in 1999/2000 you can find something to enjoy with the film but ultimately doesn’t give enough to warrant another visit. Brad: 5 Josh: 4.5-5 Final: 5

Rachel Ziegler ruined this movie imo. She simply cannot act - I dont know how she still manages to get roles in the industry, as she destroys one project after another. The plot of this movie also cannot keep the audience engaged for over 10 minutes. It's all over the place, there is no connection with the characters, and it feels like it was written as a tax write off from the get go. Opening weekend, and I was the only one in the entire theatre - I soon learned why. Embarassing and disappointing.

Fun movie. Entertaining, nostalgic and Rachel Zegler is great! Highly recommended for anyone who grew up in this time period.

The whole script is written by an elementary student who has no sense of humor or basic logic or completely doesn't know what should appear in a movie. ChatGPT can write a way better script. This is my first time walk out of a movie before it ends.

Y2K" is a deadly unserious disaster comedy featuring fantastic cyber-monster effects and laugh out loud humor inspired by the great time period.

Very funny and at points subversive from expectations caused by hundreds of movies with the same clichés, a few parts definitely caught me off guard but in a good way. Everything that happens in this movie happens for a purpose aside for maybe one or two gags that don’t do all too much for the plot. Contains loads of references, some of which even kids born after the Y2K hoax could understand. The humor in this film does seem to be more on-par with Millennial/Gen Z humor, which clashes with the topic of the film being more geared towards older audiences, though that problem isn’t too distracting from the overall greatness of the film. It is definitely more comedy than horror, so if you’re a fan of comedy, this is the film for you- if you prefer the horror aspect, you may want to look for a different film.

Terminally unfunny. Tedious. Juvenile. Rachel Zeigler is unbearable in nearly every role she’s in but especially in this one she makes me want to give up on the medium altogether.
