Pugh’s fierceness and Garfield’s ready access to emotion make them a good match; the dialogue is witty and it’s a pleasure just to listen to them talk. Most importantly, everyone involved is serious about and committed to and yes, in love with the story.

I loved this film directed by John Crowley. This romantic drama stars Florence Pugh as Almut and Andrew Garfield as Tobias. Both actors deliver intelligent, sensitive, and nuanced interpretations of a well-written script that demanded deep acting chops. Crowley expertly directed (or allowed) Pugh and Tobias to transform a tragic ending into a hopeful story. The British playwright and screenwriter Nick Payne wrote the script. The movie moves back and forth in time, but the zig zagging time-line never interfered with the honesty and heart of the narrative.

Garfield and Pugh have such instant chemistry that one never doubts why their characters would end up together. But ultimately, We Live In Time views Tobias and Almut as abstractions, and by jumping back and forth in time, it never makes them very present.

The amatory mechanisms here are so basic they make 1970’s Love Story look like Wuthering Heights, but at least Love Story had the courage to wring every last drop of pathos from its tragic-romance premise.

Heartwarming, heartbreaking and amazing. Garfield and Pugh deliver amazing and grounded performances of what it means to be two people who love each other. The movie is captivating from start to finish and by the end it truly feels like you've just watched a full life unfold.

Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield are the hottest on-screen couple; their chemistry hits the roof. But their characters are not particularly appealing. Also, the decision to make the plot non-linear is never justified and it somewhat spoils the emotional hooks it presents to create. It's very well-acted and has a cute story about living in the moment, but that's about it.
