The film aims to scale things up with bigger stakes, a broader canvas and more immediate danger. But in doing so, it loses sight of what made this version of the character work.

Love all of the Jack Ryan series and live Ghost War I have watched every Jack Ryan show and no one does it better than Krasinsky. He is amazing and captures the essence of the character perfectly. Intellectually aware, analytically superior and a great action character. He is lovable on top of all this. The people criticizing this movie are delusional. Amazing

Lots of hate for this film which was designed as a streaming movie. At least I get a bang for my buck instead of having to see a 'streaming movie' on theather (Disney..cough, cough). It's actually punch above its weight quite a bit thanks to Krasinski himself. Hey, if you want to have a stand alone movie, give a good protagonist and conflict that's worth the audience time. At least this flick did that. It also made me curious for the long running (yet finished) series. I might binge that in the weekend.

The director, Andrew Bernstein, keeps the globe-trotting plot, which Krasinski formulated with the screenwriter Noah Oppenheim (“A House of Dynamite”), galloping along until a final reckoning back where all the nastiness started.

Both unnecessarily complicated and woefully simple, this is one of the least successful Jack Ryan adaptations yet: neither Clear, nor Present.

It all makes one wonder why any of the original team returned for a sequel that not only undoes some of the far more impactful emotional beats of the final season but also leaves audiences in limbo about whether they even want to see Jack Ryan suit up for another disaster to solve.

The cruellest blow of all is the action from the director Andrew Bernstein (who also directed the TV series). It’s generic, personality-free and very streaming.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit was a decent watch. While I don’t fully remember the previous films in the franchise, and some details felt a little fuzzy, the movie still managed to capture the core essence of a solid action **** cast featured several familiar faces, which added to the film’s appeal and helped maintain engagement **** film itself was action-packed, delivering enough suspense, intensity, and fast-paced sequences to keep the momentum going. While it may not be the most memorable entry in the genre, it remains an entertaining watch for fans of action and espionage films.Overall, I would recommend this movie to anyone looking for an easy, entertaining thriller.

There’s a strong sense that this meeting could have been an email. The series had already ended on a somewhat lackluster note, clearly on the decline, so turning *Jack Ryan* into a movie actually seemed like an interesting attempt to reposition the character. And, for a few moments, it even works. There’s a genuine effort to move Ryan away from the “generic action agent” mold and reposition him as a strategist, someone closer to the essence of Tom Clancy’s books. The problem is that the film never finds a plot strong enough to sustain that shift.Still, John Krasinski continues to bring a lot of charisma to the character, and the action scenes help keep the pace from completely falling apart. But in the end, you’re left with that strange feeling of a sequel made more out of franchise obligation than because there’s actually a good story to tell.

I'm not sure what I expected with Krasinski as screenwriter but it was supposed to be better than whatever-the-hell this was. Ghost War is the definition of bad screenwriting. It's one cliche after another. A solid C or D effort on creating an original and believable story. Unfortunately all we got was a first draft effort. Clancy is doing somersaults in his grave. Whomever greenlit this abomination over at Amazon, to go to production, needs to be terminated.

John Krasinski is back in the title role as a former CIA operative who’s drawn back into the world of spy antics and treachery. The team heads to London, then Dubai, which showcases the city’s cool architecture. Sadly, that’s the film’s best asset. Otherwise, it’s much like my review of the series (my review) with “more intrigue and espionage than big staged action sequences.” If you can dredge thru the continual dialogue scenes, there is one car chase which upends a few trash cans and lots of shooting. What the film lacks is any spectacular staging or even mildly exciting action. I’d pronounce this a disappointment, but given the 2/5 star rating of the original series, I’m not surprised that this did worse.
