Taking the inspirational sports movie template, then infusing it with so much weed and foul language that it deserves its own MPAA rating, The Underdoggs is a good example of what happens when Snoop Dogg steps into an otherwise familiar tween-age comedy to wreak havoc.

So there’s not a single surprise along the way. But there is the comfort of familiarity operating in the movie’s favor. And it’s fun.

While other movies attempt to emulate the popular underdog genre, not many get the production with such genuine wholesome vibes. Other underdog movies are too boring to remember but this one is a classic. If you’re too frail for the script and funny roasts and banter, you’re probably not funny in real life. Roger Moore, Chase Hutchinson, Brandon Yu, Original Cin, and G Allen Johnson are lame af and probably wished they could’ve been a part of the movie! .

There’s only so much that director Charles Stone III can do with the script’s “head held high” cornpone.

Snoop is funny, in all his unfiltered fury. But the problem with shock-value comical profanity is its numbing effect. It stops being funny after awhile. We get used to it.

The kids in the film are simply too young to make an impact, and Snoop, who is fine enough as an actor, ultimately doesn’t possess the charisma necessary to elevate a lazy script.

The underdog formula doesn’t work in this film. Highlighted by Snoop Dogg’s ham-fisted acting, the script really doesn’t allow for any sort of forgiveness of his character’s oversights.

Snoop has obviously made a real-life impact in his community. Too bad he couldn’t make one in reel life as well.

(Mauro Lanari) It has the merit of being inspired by a true story: they are no far-fetched events of invented sporting redemption. It has the merit of not being politically correct, and this is a nice novelty for black cinema. In short, it is an unexpected fun entertainment, but its unforgivable flaw is Snoop Dogg's not hidden sympathy for Fox News/Sports and Trump, which has nothing to do with the plot even if it had involved the opposite party or even Sanders.

Whether like or dislike Snoop Dogg, he is a pop culture icon with an international platform. So when he gets the opportunity to star in a well promoted Amazon movie and fills it with the N-word it's disappointing. Amazon clearly did this in order to capitalize off of Snoops brand and his attention, because the content in this kid-centric film is ridiculous. His character Two-Js could have been played just as effectively without Snoop filling the word movie with the n word over and over. The use of the n-word throughout this movie was very unnecessary. This happens because many black people claim a license to use the word - with the belief that we reclaimed it from white people because white people enslaved us- however we never owned the n-word so we can't "reclaim" something that we never owned in the first place - the n-word belongs to white supremacy and always has - the n-word never magically changed hands from white supremacy to black ownership - so we're out here looking like complete idiots using this word to public refer to ourselves in music, TV and movies Whenever Snoop does anything in the public spotlight (like or not) he is a representative of the Black community. To have something like this, in such a public spotlight coming from a 52 year old grown man, who has traveled the world and haf exposure to many things is very disappointing. I don't care who disagrees, continue to put "n-word" laden material like this out in the public space does hurt "the culture"

I’ve seen this kind of feel 1000 times before, but it’s been done so much better in the past, the foul language in front of the children is very offputting, no wonder certain communities have a lot of trouble when their role models are swearing and using racist language in front of children while also glorifying the use of marijuana to children, this is just ridiculous. California is obviously, morally bankrupt, seems like only the Californian critics are giving this a good score. Everyone else sees it for the rotten tomato it is, the film gets off to a bad start when most people think it’s a family film and starts to watch it with their children only to rush to the TV remote to turn it off because of the despicably disgusting language.this this film was so bad

About as low effort as one of these gets, its somehow rated R but has the storytelling chops of Paw Patrol.

I gave it a chance but it is totally unwatchable, I cant think of a worse film I've seen in my whole life. Literally half the script is profanities, Snoop dogg cant act to save his life, and you've seen the story a thousand times before. Complete and utter doggdodo. Snoop dogg should stick to singing, this is just so embarrassingly BAD.
