Talk to Me was much better than I expected. I approached it with some hesitation because I had already seen the Philippou brothers’ second film, Bring Her Back, and found it slightly disappointing after everything I had read and heard about it. This one, however, is far more focused, tense and **** central idea is simple and immediately works: a group of teenagers use an embalmed hand to contact the dead and turn something terrifying into a social game. That contrast is one of the film’s greatest strengths. The supernatural initially feels less like forbidden territory than another experience to record, share and repeat. That makes the film feel very contemporary. These characters respond to something monstrous almost as casually as they might approach some ridiculous online challenge. They laugh, film each other, encourage one another and continue even when everything suggests they should **** film mixes several forms of horror remarkably well. There is psychological horror because we are never entirely certain how much of Mia’s experience can be trusted. There is possession horror, obviously, but also extremely physical horror. When violence happens, it hurts. It never feels like gore inserted merely to produce a quick **** Philippous also show that violence very directly. They do not always hide impact behind editing. Some moments force you to keep watching for a few seconds longer than you would like, which makes them genuinely **** greatest achievement, though, is the constant anxiety. Talk to Me barely allows the audience to relax. Even during quieter moments there is a sense that something has been opened and will not be easily closed. Once the characters cross a certain line, the film feels as though it is moving towards something inevitable.Sophie Wilde carries the film extremely well. Mia is not simply a teenager making foolish decisions because the horror plot requires it. Her grief and desperate need for answers make it understandable that she keeps returning to something she should avoid. That gives the possession story an emotional dimension. The danger is not only opening a door to the dead, but doing so when somebody desperately needs to believe that whatever waits on the other side might ease their pain. This is where the film gains depth. Beneath the violence and supernatural material is a story about grief, guilt and how easily a vulnerable person can mistake something destructive for **** sound design is also excellent. Breathing, impacts, voices and silence create more tension than many conventional jump scares. The film does not constantly depend on sudden blasts of noise to force a **** short running time helps enormously. It does not stretch a good idea into two and a half hours. It establishes the rules, increases the intensity and finishes before the premise becomes **** everything is perfect. Some character decisions require accepting that these teenagers keep playing with something obviously dangerous, and the supernatural logic could occasionally be clearer. Those are minor problems compared with how effectively the film works. Most importantly, it achieves something many horror films fail to do: it creates genuine anxiety. Not just during isolated scenes, but as an unpleasant feeling that stays almost until the end. After Bring Her Back, I expected less from the Philippou brothers. Now I understand much better where the excitement surrounding them began.Talk to Me is considerably stronger: simpler, tighter and much more effective. Psychological horror, possession, physical violence and a strong idea handled with enough personality to avoid feeling like another generic ghost story.I liked it a lot.

Me sorprendió por su atmósfera inquietante y su forma efectiva de generar terror. Parte de una idea simple, pero la ejecuta muy bien, con sustos que funcionan. Es una propuesta fresca y perturbadora que se queda en la cabeza después de verla.

The animations in the movie are visually impressive, and the storyline is engaging. Personally, I found the film enjoyable and quite thrilling. However, I believe there is a common concern regarding character representation that merits discussion. While having female protagonists can be empowering, it's essential to strive for a balanced representation of characters across all genders and backgrounds. Additionally, I think it's important to approach representation thoughtfully, as it plays a critical role in storytelling. I've observed that many recent films feature strong Black women in roles where they face formidable male opponents. While these portrayals are wrong, it’s beneficial to consider the nuances in how gender dynamics are depicted on screen. Ultimately, I encourage you to watch this movie, as it effectively delivers on its promise to provide a thrilling experience that many horror films aim to achieve.

"Talk to Me" (2022) attempts to deliver a fresh and visceral horror experience, but ultimately struggles with a fragmented narrative and a lack of engaging plot development, particularly in its initial hour. While the film has garnered some attention for its concept, its execution leaves much to be **** film's premise, centered around a group of friends who discover a way to conjure spirits through an embalmed hand, holds initial promise. However, the first hour of the movie feels largely aimless, failing to establish proper character development or a compelling storyline. The narrative lacks a clear flow, jumping between scenes without effectively building suspense or investing the viewer in the characters' **** attempts at horror often feel forced and fail to generate genuine scares. The film relies on shock value and disturbing imagery, but without a strong narrative foundation, these elements lose their impact. The performances, while competent, are hampered by the underdeveloped script, making it difficult to connect with the characters or their struggles.Despite some interesting visual moments and a unique central conceit, "Talk to Me" ultimately fails to capitalize on its potential. The lack of engagement in the first hour and the overall disjointed storytelling prevent it from being a truly memorable or impactful horror film. It's a missed opportunity to deliver a genuinely terrifying and cohesive narrative.

The back half of this movie ends up having too many plot contrivances and illogical decision-making. Otherwise, this is a damn fine debut. Hard-hitting imagery, great performances, and some subtly good thematic material. It's a fine thrill ride.

This was a phenomenal movie, the plot was guessable but it was still shocking something you don’t see very often. The gimmick of the hand was also great

The film opens on a frightening hook. Talk to Me scares through possession and what is unknown. A group of teens acquires means of contacting spirits; it is enjoyable, indulgent, but the game is out of hand. The tension is wound up tighter; fear is piling up. The spirits will let up on it no **** fear is effective, but everything is not effective. The film is shock reliant, but atmosphere creates tension. The plot is well developed, but predictable beats lose its grip on it. The mystery is compelling; fear lingers, but twists fall short of great **** fear of Talk to Me lingers, its presence real but brief. It is tense, uncomfortable, but refuses to give its full measure. Recommended to fans of modern supernatural frights. 6 out of 10

Enfin un bon film d'horreur et d'angoisse.
L'idée marche super bien, la réalisation est au poile et surtout vraiment efficace.
Si vous voulez frissonnez, ce film est le bon choix !

I appreciate it being as polished as it is for the low budget and being first-time directors. That being said, it isn't perfect. Some of the dialogue is very sloppy and there are obvious plot holes that make no sense.

A perfect little horror tale, with a delicious tension that builds throughout. I really like the character development, which pays off at the end

This A24 film felt like the new age of the company, the pacing of the plot had a sense of waves in the ocean on how things would develop. Seeing a lot of different viewpoints on the “demon” perspective most films don’t show. As well as giving the main character a set purpose in the film you question in this movie, is she a friend or foe, Hero or villain? This film preys on the updated atmosphere Gen Z thrives on. The point of a scary movie is to make the audience believe this can happen to them. Overall I would mind shaking hands.

I went in with no expectations and this movie was fine ahead a good time watching it with my friends all the visual effects and all the scares you just hit the right amount. It's kind of weird to talk about because I don't really have that much to say about it. I like to design I like the story I like a lot of things but nothing is steep Under My **** only wheel part of the movie I don't like is if you think about it a bit logical you kind of realize. Oh everything goes on dumb teenager logic which is fine. It is dumb teenagers in the movie. What seeing things that are don't see and the main characters obsession with the truth about their mom and all of those things come together I think it's entertaining really you should watch it.

Talk to me is a pretty entertaining film with an incredibly good concept that’s overshadowed by sloppy writing. There are so many holes in the movie that made it unenjoyable towards the end. Best enjoyed if you fully go into it with zero expectation and no ability for critical thought.

The characters are well-written, but I had a lot of trouble buying how stupid they seemed to be. Chuckling as they watch one another become possessed by evil spirits. It doesn't really make sense.

Accurate depiction of regional Australia and its people, regardless of the supernatural thing, they're all crazy worse than American rednecks.
Add to that the resemblance to posh English language, sh*it place, stay away.

Why is the BFI (British Film Institute) and the UK National Lottery funding an Australian film? That makes no sense to me. Anyway it starts with a very pretentious long shot. Then it moves onto cliches and nonsense with so many eye-rolling moments within the first few minutes making the prospect of watching the rest of the film so unappealing. It has horrible characters. It’s probably one of the most obnoxious and unappealing films I've ever seen, it really has very little redeeming about it. I don’t mind horrible characters if they are entertaining and then get killed off painfully, this doesn’t happen. I accept there is some good sound design and the acting is not horrible but it's still a terrible film. Generic forgettable title. Better production quality than Wreck (2020) but somehow a worse film. It is possibly the worst actual film that had a decent budget and some effort put into it. There are worse films but they didn’t have the resources that this film had.

Talk to Me is uniformly one of the best horror movies I've ever seen. At every turn I was glued to my seat utterly enthralled by everything happening onscreen. Performances across the board are emotionally charged and gripping, the cinematography is inspired, and while arguably telegraphed at points in where the story is going, it never once detracted from my overall experience, and occasionally even built upon it. Thoroughly freaked the **** out of me once or twice, and when it wasn't being scary, it was so interesting I still couldn't look away. The fact that this is the feature debut of the Philippou brothers speaks highly of their talent, and I genuinely cannot wait for whatever they make next. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a strong dose of horror!

A film that could have been decent overwhelmed with wokeness. They attempt to make every female character a factor, while every male character is forgettable or stupid. The result is the same result that always happens, participation trophies mean there's no talent or character depth. Not one character in the entire movie develops at all. When the spirit uses the younger brother to contact the bug-eyed beetlejuice looking actress, they had a chance to make the scene really creepy. Unfortunately, we the viewer had no idea the spirit used a nickname only her mother called her. Telling us it did afterwards is simply awful storytelling. The best part of this movie was when I got up, looked in the mirror, and told myself "you've made a lot of mistakes in your life, but you're not finishing this terrible movie". I watched way too much of the movie. I'm ashamed for that. The movie had all sorts of weird liberal fantasies like literally **** a guys toes, a tomboy girl leader of an entire social group with teen boys (yeah right, lol). The movie was also straightup creepy how it's the middle of the night and the younger brother is under a blanket right next to the female lead sleeping with her. I don't care if the family relationship is that close, it's just weird for the viewer since neither character was developed before this with any type of scene. This film represents the dire state horror movies are in. They forget that for us to care about a character, they have to develop them using a couple scenes. But for a generation of people who scroll their phone the entire movie looking up every 5 minutes, I guess this is as good as it gets. Also I loved how there was no kissing at all between the main characters but they gave us the huge liberal present of immediately watching a gay teen kiss another gay guys ear. Why even include that crap at all?

Es una de las mejores películas de terror mainstream de los últimos años, maneja el balance entre el suspenso y el terror convencional de manera genial, no depende de screamers y aunque el final, a mi parecer, es algo confuso, la forma en que se desarrolla la historia es excelente.

Produced by the ineffable A24, for me an emotionally inert film. Neither boredom nor irritation: indifference. I had the opportunity to participate in exorcistic, spiritualistic, presumed supernatural rites and rituals and my reaction was a bit like that of Lieutenant Dan Taylor, the crippled Gary Sinise from "Forrest Gump", during Hurricane Carmen: "Is that all?" I find other genres or subcategories of horror interesting, unfortunately I can't know by choosing, selecting and filtering a priori.Counter-order: "It's only in your head" (Mia's, not mine), i.e. a teen-drama about GenZ, a case of PTSD in an addiction to social challenges among tiktokers. The result does not change. The prologue with the sequence shot? Even anyone who makes a video with a smartphone can do it, like this pair of YouTuber twins making their debut. Some of the deceased shown as zombies from "Thriller"? Lol.

The idea is amazing. How they managed to use that idea is also good. Yet the final is not, satisfying. I was hoping for more gruesome, horrifying acceleration. But it is worth to watch.

bit late to the party but wow, what an incredible horror movie. This is the first horror movie in a long time that made me feel uneasy, the tension and atmosphere is creepy throughout with also interesting characters and story beats that keep you gripped throughout this film. Also stellar performances from each and everyone one of the cast members, incredible directorial debut for the Philippou Twins.

''Talk to me'' is not just an ordinary, enjoyable film about spirits, demons and contact with the disturbing unknown, but a successful horror film which, between strengths and weaknesses, is in its own way interesting and engaging as it knows (with decisive, clear and essential writing, and a well-constructed and frightening mise-en-scène) reflect current social malaise. Generational coming-of-age story (adolescents struggling with addiction, social media, fears, loneliness, bereavement) in which the plot and genre are only a pretext to refer to these individual and existential hardships, as well as to empathy lost to find. The film talks about the processing of mourning and shortcomings (especially of affection) through demonic possession, making the protagonist's path liberating/salvific for her (first in an illusory/deceptive way, then in an effective way), in a context narrative and metaphorical-conceptual (from the horror of addiction in its various physical or metaphysical forms) which examines the culture of virality mediated by social media, but above all the dimension of psychological fragility - especially if unstable, troubled and desperately seeking help, attention and affection. In conclusion, an effective and well-made work. Rating: 7

most horror movies look the same however this one is a bit different than the others. Though it may start losing its thrill and horror halfway through the movie, it still kept me entertained. The cast could also be better but its a teenage movie mostly so its alright. I am looking forward to a sequel and i wish they would cast more mature adults in it just for the fun of it.I recommend this movie its been a while since I've seen a horror movie i enjoyed.

It started pretty good, quickly introduce characters and relationships, and how things went wrong. Things go wrong not in a stupid way, but for emotional reasons, which is also a smart setup, plus they are younger than high school so they are easily panic and turn to parents for help, also reasonable. There is also a sub-story line which is about main cheracter's mother, I found this is more interesting than the man story line. But at the final 10 mins, everything was throw out the window and the movie just ended, no exlaination how the boy was saved or how the mother's death was caused. I was so dissaponted.

This is a good movie. I would get it on sale though. Occult artifact usage gone wrong is the whole movie. Don't trust the spirits type thing. Nothing hidden so no mystery as the viewer. Still a good movie and fun to watch. Has some empathetic moments in it. Young actors are good. Story is good. Nothing new but done well.

Talk to Me stands out from other horror productions in recent years due to its subjectivity, the lack of cheap use of jumpscares and its own visual **** film is cohesive and very rounded, the plot does not get lost in its inventions or force shock on the viewer. The text manages to link issues such as grief, loneliness and depression together with the typical portraits of spirits and possessions in a well-done way that makes sense within its core. The film also manages to be unpredictable in its development, and with its subjective ending it manages to break away from the usual cliché endings of other productions. (And to see how the film can really succeed, the script manages to make us care about the characters in the plot). The cast here is very good and manages to sustain the events with veracity and even the naivety of real **** film generates impressive tension. This is thanks to the absurd photography and the organic use of cameras, always with natural movements. For these reasons, the film manages to establish tension in the viewer without using jumpscares, and when they are used, they are used naturally. The use of practical effects was also a good idea and the fact that those elements are not CGI makes the experience even better.Talk to Me is a technically impressive and original film that manages (almost always) to free itself from cheap artifices seen in poor films of the genre.

Talk To MeA24's latest supernatural horror sees a group of teenagers contacting spirits by touching an embalmed hand, albeit, without exceeding ninety seconds. Everything goes downhill when they forget the rules of the game.
Talk To Me starts with a bang and ends with a brilliantly sequenced finale. The plot is fresh and progresses well and even with a slightly muddled last quarter, it doesn't falter.
The practical effects are jolting and potent, and deliver dread. The sound effects and score harmoniously bring the horror elements through (with ELGRINDO's Have You Ever already a viral TikTok sound).
The cast of Talk To Me is pivotal to its success. Sophie Wilde delivers a compelling lead performance, with newcomer Joe Bird giving heft to the horror sequences.
With news of a prequel and sequel already in the works, Talk To Me has brought an exciting franchise to A24.
8.5/10.

A group of trippy seeking teens pass around a satanic hand like it’s a joint in order to achieve a euphoric feeling while being briefly possessed (I mean what could possibly go wrong here?). This new thrill is everyone’s favourite after school activity until one of them goes over the allocated time (less than 80 seconds is safe for some reason) and the **** hits the fan. Now a terrifying malevolent force has been unleashed and things go from bad to catastrophic. Talk To Me reaches out a cold dead hand to you from the screen and grips you from the very beginning and does not let go until the credits roll. It’s one of the most tense and unnerving horror movies I’ve seen in ages and if you want something to genuinely scare you this Halloween well then be sure to add this to your list. In fact Talk To Me might actually be too scary for some people because in the very opening scene the two people in front of me promptly got up and left (perhaps they were actually looking for Barbie). And that pretty much sets the tone for Talk to Me. It’s a scary one alright and not done nearly enough justice by the trailer. What initially appears to be another average possession movie, destined to die on the forgotten pile of boring horror movies, Talk to Me is everything you’d want and more. It’s a dark and effective modern horror that seasoned horror fans will absolutely adore. Containing scenes of genuine terror and gore it relies less on cheap endless jump scares and much more on presenting you with chilling moments that will leave you shook. Seriously there’s a couple of scenes I’m still thinking about afterwards and believe me, I’ve seen a lot of truly awful horror movies so by now I know a good one when I see it. With a new twist on possession movies, Talk to Me certainly has the potential for a new franchise and/or spin offs which I’m sure horror buffs will welcome as the milked to death Conjuring franchise has long since run out of original ideas. Danny and Michael Philippou have created a memorable and thrilling movie with a great idea that is sure to deliver to all the horror buffs. Talk to Me is the perfect example of the type of originality studios should be taking chances on because I’ll tell you this is far better than the legacy sequels that refuse to die (yeah I’m looking at you two, Ghostface and Michael Myers). Some franchises just don’t know when to give it up because cinema audiences do get bored with the same thing on repeat. Well this is different, well written and will definitely scare you. It’s a creepy and nail-biting cinematic experience and definitely recommended for all those who enjoy a gory horror movie.

La razón de mi decepción proviene, probablemente, de la alta espectativa a la cinta. Si bien, no es mala, carece de terror y profundidad en la historia. Al final no es más que otra película del genero que no despega.

Talk To Me was more of like terrifyingly brutal than terrifyingly scary, the brutality from the demon that makes it unsettling and disturbing, while Talk To Me concept wasn't the most original, the duo Danny and Michael Philippou surely just created their own original style of directing in their very impressive debut in this possibly best directorial movie debut by a Youtube Content Creator, the very unique and impressive style of filmmaking, the story, the performances were all amazingly well done, it's very well crafted, and undoubtedly intense, i almost closed my eyes not because the scare of the demon or the jumpscare but because of the very excellent yet very disturbing gore that they have in the movie, i wasn't crazy and really that satisfying about the ending unfortunately, some slow part, and to be honest i wish there is more of the brutal hardcore scary stuff in the movie because that will make the movie even more crazier, they really do pretty lacking on that even though everytime they did it it's freakin incredible, and again not so original in the story but was i still invested to the story and to the characters for like 85% of the film?, Absolutely yes, despite the flaws the rest of the movie was awesome, and i have a fun intense good time watching it in the theaters, still overall Talk To Me is a very impressive directorial debut by the Philippou brothers, it's disturbingly intense fun movie.

A Poignant Tale of Resilience, Redemption, and Radio
"Talk to Me" is a captivating biographical drama that pays tribute to the unyielding spirit of Petey Greene and his contribution to the world of radio and social change. With its compelling performances, witty dialogue, and thought-provoking themes, the film succeeds in offering a window into a pivotal era while celebrating the power of one individual's voice to inspire change. It is a moving testament to the ability of storytelling to illuminate the past and resonate with audiences today.

This movie has my love and adoration because of how unique the story was, it's a very intriguing movie that doesn't stick to the norm. I also find it heinously funny that teenagers would do this and basically figure a way to get high through it, the true ingenuity of bored teens. It's not perfect, but it is a great start to a franchise/series that holds a lot of promise. The acting is really what makes this movie so stellar.
