Let the Right One In5
Feb 28, 2025
I wanted to love this one. People call it haunting, poetic, a masterpiece. What I got was a slow, distant film that left me feeling **** atmosphere is strong—cold, quiet, unsettling—but it drags. Scenes linger too long, tension builds but never fully pays off. The horror is there, but it’s muted, more focused on mood than fear. That can work, but here, it just feels **** characters didn’t pull me in. Oskar is fine, but he’s not compelling. Eli is mysterious, but I never felt the weight of their bond. Their relationship is supposed to be the heart of the film, but it didn’t hit me. Moments of violence are striking, but they’re too rare to keep things engaging.I see why people love it, but it didn’t work for me. It’s beautifully shot, sure, but slow and emotionally distant. Not bad, just not as great as its reputation suggests.

Incident In a Ghostland7
Feb 26, 2025
Ghostland doesn’t mess about. Ghostland throws everything in your face and makes it spin. Ghostland is raw, it is gruesome, and it won’t let go. The horror isn’t so much in whatever is happening, it is in being made so helplessly **** performances drive it. Emilia Jones and Crystal Reed give raw horror, so every moment is a believable moment. The antagonists of this movie are gruesome, creepy, and so is this hellish home. The movie continues surprising, games of reality so it keeps your nerves in a constant position of ****’s not perfect. Some of it is a little too over-the-top, depending on surprise rather than on tension. The film is powerful, though, and it feels hurried in some bits. But it stays in your mind, under your skin in a way in which few horror films ****’s intense, cringeworthy, and unflinchingly captivating. Painful to see, worth it for anyone who hungers for horror unvarnished. 7 of 10.

This Is England9
Feb 17, 2025
This Is England grabs you right from the off. It's real, unflinching, brutal. It's about Shaun, a lad grieving his dad, falling into life with a group of skinheads. The rough edge of youth is what's portrayed - brutality, disillusion, finding your place. Thomas Turgoose is superb playing Shaun, keeping the film on its shoulder of **** dynamics of the group are messy, convoluted, but real. The pace can drag on occasions, but it's building up to big things. The film pulls no punches, and that's what's lingered on afterward. It's uncomfortable on occasions, but gets real life right, making it un-look-away-able.This Is England is blunt. That one will stay with me forever. 9 out of 10.

Talk to Me6
Feb 17, 2025
The film opens on a frightening hook. Talk to Me scares through possession and what is unknown. A group of teens acquires means of contacting spirits; it is enjoyable, indulgent, but the game is out of hand. The tension is wound up tighter; fear is piling up. The spirits will let up on it no **** fear is effective, but everything is not effective. The film is shock reliant, but atmosphere creates tension. The plot is well developed, but predictable beats lose its grip on it. The mystery is compelling; fear lingers, but twists fall short of great **** fear of Talk to Me lingers, its presence real but brief. It is tense, uncomfortable, but refuses to give its full measure. Recommended to fans of modern supernatural frights. 6 out of 10

Smile7
Feb 17, 2025
The film takes off right out of your mind. Smile generates fear through eerie grins and constructing dread. We’re shown Dr. Rose Cotter seeing one of her strange suicides; next, she’s seeing things, stalking, grinning, ubiquitous. The tension is mounted up; her terror is palpable. The scares have bigger impacts than anticipated. Some of them are predictable, but atmosphere maintains them effective. The plot is well-sequenced; it’s engaging but falls on well-established horrors cliches. The plot is engaging although twists are **** fear of Smile lingers after post-credits, its fear lingering within your mind. It is adhering to a formula but gets executed well. Recommended to fans of psychological horrors that have jump scares. 7 out of 10

The Black Phone8
Feb 16, 2025
The Black Phone surprised me at how eerie and emotional it was. Finney is a young boy kidnapped by a murderer known as The Grabber. He is kept in a basement and starts to get phone calls from the victims of the murderer who try to lead him out of there. It's eerie and hooks you right from the start.Mason Thames is excellent as Finney. You actually feel his fear and his courage as he fights for his life. Ethan Hawke is creepy playing The Grabber. He's cool but menacing in a way that makes you absolutely uncomfortable. What I was amazed at is the way the film accomplishes tension. It's not like it has all these jump scares but instead creates this slow, creeping sense of fear. It keeps you glued from beginning to end. I would give it an 8 out of 10. It's a creepy and heartbreaking experience.

Jojo Rabbit9
Feb 16, 2025
Jojo Rabbit is a movie that mixes funny and sad parts in a bold way. The story follows Jojo, a young boy in **** Germany, who has an imaginary friend - a comical version of Adolf ****. The idea is odd but Taika Waititi makes it real with his silly mocking style. He uses humor to show the dangers of following leaders without **** movie blends dark humor with touching moments. Roman Griffin Davis, who plays Jojo, shows a child’s innocence and confusion as the brutal facts of war break his simple view of the world. Scarlett Johansson, who plays Jojo’s mother, gives comfort and strength to her role providing warmth amid chaos. The tone shifts sharply, from funny to dark ideas, which may disturb some viewers yet holds your attention. Jojo Rabbit gives a new look at World War II using humor to look at strong themes of hate, love as well as human connection. It is not perfect but it gives feelings that stay with you. I give it a 9 out of 10.

Horns7
Feb 16, 2025
Horns is a movie that tries many interesting effects but does not always succeed. Daniel Radcliffe plays Ig Perrish, a man who wakes up one day with horns on his head and gains the power to force people to admit secrets. The idea is unusual but Radcliffe acts well. He gives the role emotion that makes you support him while he loses **** movie shows eerie moments and a one-of-a-kind mood mixing horror with dark humor and a touch of romance. The tone varies widely. Sometimes it is funny or absurd; then it becomes dark or serious, which may disturb you. The pace does not remain steady. Some parts slow; others skip important moments.Horns offers a fresh view on horror. It has flaws yet you might watch it for its originality and Radcliffe’s acting. I rate it 7 out of 10.

Blood Diamond8
Feb 16, 2025
Blood Diamond (2006) is a harsh, emotionally charged look at the atrocities of the conflict diamond trade. Set against the backdrop of Sierra Leone's civil conflict, the film follows Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio), a disturbed mercenary who gets caught up in a tangled web of brutality, greed, and survival. DiCaprio has an outstanding performance, which is bolstered by Djimon Hounsou's stunning portrayal of a father anxiously seeking for his family and Jennifer Connelly's captivating role as a journalist. The film does a superb job of mixing tremendous action with emotional depth, compelling viewers to consider the human cost of the diamond trade. The graphics are spectacular, and the story, while occasionally overly dramatic, is helpful in raising awareness about a very real and ongoing problem.

American Psycho10
Feb 15, 2025
Christian Bale delivers one of the greatest performances of his career. He doesn’t just play Bateman—he is Bateman. Every expression, every movement, every sudden shift between charm and cold-blooded insanity is absolutely perfect. It’s rare to see a character this unhinged yet so controlled at the same **** film’s commentary on consumerism, narcissism, and the emptiness of 1980s excess is razor-sharp. It’s both disturbing and hilarious, with moments that make you laugh before immediately making you question why you’re laughing. The iconic business card scene, the surreal dinner conversations, the chilling monologues—every moment is crafted to keep you engaged and uncomfortable in the best way **** that ending? Pure genius. It leaves you questioning everything, making you want to rewatch the whole film just to catch the details you missed. American Psycho isn’t just a great psychological thriller—it’s one of the smartest, most stylish films ever made. If you haven’t seen it, fix that immediately.

Annabelle10
Feb 15, 2025
Horror is one of my favorite movie genres, and Annabelle absolutely nailed it. I went in with decent expectations, but I wasn’t prepared for how unsettling and gripping this movie would be. From start to finish, it keeps you on edge, building a slow, creeping sense of dread that never lets up.Unlike so many horror films that rely on cheap jump scares, Annabelle knows how to create real tension. Every scene feels carefully crafted to make you uncomfortable, and the atmosphere is just dripping with unease. The cinematography is fantastic, the lighting is eerie without being overdone, and the sound design is spot on. Even the quiet moments feel **** story might not be groundbreaking, but it’s executed so well that it doesn’t matter. The young couple at the center of it all feels real, and you actually care about what happens to them. Annabelle Wallis delivers a strong performance, making you believe in every ounce of fear and desperation she goes through. That final act had me completely locked in.This isn’t just another throwaway horror spin-off. It stands on its own as a terrifying, well-made film that knows exactly how to get under your skin. If you love supernatural horror done right, Annabelle is a must-watch.

Don't Breathe 210
Feb 15, 2025
Some thrillers keep you on edge. Don’t Breathe keeps you in a vice grip.Fede Álvarez’s home-invasion-gone-wrong horror film takes a simple premise, three desperate thieves breaking into the house of a blind man, and twists it into something brutal, relentless, and genuinely nerve-wracking. From the moment they step inside, the tension doesn’t just simmer, it boils **** brilliance of Don’t Breathe lies in its execution. Álvarez directs with the precision of a surgeon, crafting scenes that feel almost unbearably tight. The cinematography, with its smooth tracking shots and suffocating close-ups, makes us feel trapped alongside the characters. The sound design is practically weaponized. Every breath, every floorboard creak, every shift in the darkness becomes a threat. Then there’s Stephen Lang. His performance as the Blind Man is mesmerizing, balancing between vulnerable and absolutely terrifying. He is not just an obstacle for the thieves. He is a force of nature, turning the hunter-prey dynamic on its head. Just when you think you have him figured out, the film pulls back another layer, revealing something even darker beneath the **** Don’t Breathe has a flaw, it is that its final act pushes the limits of believability. But honestly, I did not care. By that point, I was too invested, too wired, too caught up in its masterfully constructed suspense to question a thing. This is what a thriller should be. Lean, mean, and impossible to shake off. For me, it is a perfect 10.
