The movie has so much potential to be great, and with that, it was disappointing. I love that we see more of Krypton and Superman's backstory. Lobo is also great. Nevertheless, despite being a Supergirl movie, we rarely see her in action. She has her fight, but most of it isn't focused on or shot from other people's perspectives, which to me is unnecessary because I want to see her, not people's reaction to her power. Her personality is also a mess, as sometimes I don't understand what character she is supposed to portray because of the script. Most scenes she tries to get information just feel unnatural and cringe. The Supergirl actress by all means is not ugly, but the shot that was taken did her dirty. The sword kid is useless, just there to somewhat motivate Supergirl into understanding her grand role in this world but still useless. She spends most of the time standing still; she could be better or could just remove her and make Kara understand her roles herself by just seeing the world. Supergirl also felt almost held back by the writing, as one second she became strong because of the yellow sun, the next she was shot by an arrow or got hooked and drowned. She's better than that, come on. Why make her all shabby? Overall, a little tweak could make the show better; I really want to like this movie.

It’s a really good movie. It’s a bit strange because of all the aliens, but you get used to it—by the middle of the film, it feels normal. It’s not for everyone the way Superman was; I had expected it to be. That aspect really struck me. Rating: 7.0. It’s not specifically aimed at women, though it does have some "woke" elements.

I think if it wasn't Supergirl, this movie would be better... not great, but butter, but since it is Supergirl, too many liberties were taken from the source material essentially destroying a character that so many have loved over the years. I feel like I can kind of see what they were trying to do, but they just didn't do it, got lazy, thought the success of Superman and the fact that it's a DC movie would carry it. I don't blame the actress, I think she did pretty well all things considered. Just feel bad she ended up in this movie...

sigh... can't they create new female superheroes, instead of transforming men into females... yeah, yeah, there was some Supergirl back in the 1950's.... but she was not Superman... she was some kind of a relative of Kal-El... enough with this absurd and already obsolete, passé wokeism... btw, they want young girls to be «empowered » by turning them into male characters ? as if that is the only way for them to become strong and powerful... doesn't this defeat the purpose... ? and enough with girls beating up males in this type of movies

Everyone was so sure that Momoa would nail it as Lobo. Well, in my world, he didn't. He felt sluggish when moving and... uninteresting. His bicycle looked slow and ... stupid.
The whole movie works around Supergirl not able to use her powers for some time, get whopped and then charge up and beat'em up. Two full circles! Plus the initial one. That was just... boring.
I don't really get what was the point of this movie, which could've been 1-2 scenes in another Superman movie.
It's not available to watch/stream so... if you have some popcorn and tweets to catch-up while taking peeks at the TV, then go for it.

Wow, what a complete s &&t show of a film, completely disjointed, terrible story and no surprise it lost so much money. However Milly was good, would be great in a better film i think. Mr Gunn needs to move on quickly.

while not being incredible, it stays at a quality level close to Marvel counterparts. It’s a story about surpassing trauma, mixed with an adventure that forces her to think deeply about what she has experienced. Not perfect, but solid enough to be enjoyable.

Couldnt hold my attention at any point. Everything this movie tried to do Marvel has already done it and done it better. It makes me want a new superman movie, thats all this does. Stopped 30 minutes before the end.

There's lots of big budget polish to this film, but not enough to make up for its pathetic writing and directing. It's as if the filmmakers don't understand that a superhero is a "hero" - someone to look up to, rather than a drunken wastrel who staggers through violent, meaningless exploits because they happen to be born with superhuman powers.

holy krypton, the writing is so bad on this. the story is so unnecessarily complicated and stupid. this is a 'save your dog' story. how do these people get hired? it's like a mildly talented 7th grader telling an improvisational story. Donate your paychecks screenwriters b/c this film is a total dog.

A clear improvement over Superman because this is actually Kara’s story. Milly **** fits the role, but Ruthye’s dull revenge plot, inconsistent power rules, weak humor and convenient writing keep it painfully average. 5/10.

Explores ideas of loss, being depressed and ultimately in the end enlightenment of the soul. I really enjoyed it, I did rent it from prime and then bought the 4k version for my collection. Funny thing that the new superman auto played at teh end of this on and it worked almost seemless

Supergirl became a really big flop for the DC Universe, and of no surprise. For one, it is supposedly a really unfaithful adaptation of the acclaimed Women of Tomorrow, hence the really bad reception from comic fans. On the other hand, general audiences just seemingly feel disconnected from this adaptation and Gunn's influence was so counterproductive. The use of 80/90s pop songs made it feel like a GOTG wannabe. Taken as it is, it's not a bad movie, but its just not enough in this day or age. Watch it when it streams on Max.

Suspicions that the art was created using AI; weak script; full of unfunny jokes; cartoonish villain; it's just another superhero movie made solely to generate money for investors.

I watched it with an open mind but sadly it fell flat in every aspect. Terrible clunky dialogue, cringe banter, awful drab visuals, incessant pointless (and often annoying) needle drops, boring cardboard villain, and weak emotional beats.

I’m not sure what the worst thing about this movie, the lame story, the horrendous writing or the atrocious music (so horrible). I knew from the first preview the movie would be bad, but I didn’t expect it to be this bad. It will be nice when Hollyweird wakes up and stops making this utter garbage. The story was see-through plastic. The writing was generic and bad. And the horrible music would not stop. From the beginning to the end the movie was filled with crap music. There are thousands of great songs. I don’t know why so many movies and shows spewing out of the modern “entertainment” industry select songs from the gutter.

Supergirl is a bad movie. The story is done poorly. First, if you want to establish the fall of a character, you need to show us why we would care. Not in sporadic flashbacks, but to begin the movie. from the start Supergirl is annoying and unlikable, and we don't relate to her behavior. We don't have the proper context first. The dog CGI is also horrible and cringy 60% of the time. The young girl story starts with a plot hole, about Krem ignoring her completely. And really ? that sword is important and worth killing for ? Looks like any kinds of swords out there. All the actors are miscast, ALL of them! I admit the writing is so poor, it could appear that way. I couldn't bare watch more then 45 minutes, it was so boring, not funny, not engaging at any levels. I give it 30% because I though the space backgrounds looks really nice. It doesn't deserve more praise then that.

What a disappointment. Not because it's exceptionally bad, it's a pretty mid movie, disappointing because having read the comic, this could have been an exceptional movie. Instead, we got a completely forgettable film that no one will watch or remember in 10 years.

Is it good? No, but honestly, it wasn't as bad as I expected. Not something I'll ever want to watch again, but if you want a below-average superhero movie, this is okay.

Supergirl was **** was great to see Krypto the Superdog again. As someone who grew up watching the animated TV series, I enjoyed seeing him return. However , his role as Supergirl’s dog differs from the comic books—especially if you watched the previous Superman movie, where he was portrayed as merely being “babysat.”The movie explored several different themes and gave viewers the opportunity to learn more about Superman’s and Supergirl’s family history and the background of their home planet. There was also a good amount of comedy throughout the film, which helped balance the more serious moments. It is unfortunate that the movie did not perform well at the box office.Supergirl featured strong fight scenes that were similar in style and intensity to those in Superman.Overall, it was an enjoyable movie, and I would recommend it for a watch.

Absolutely disgusting movie with a detestable plot, terrible acting, low quality costumes, bad makeup and lighting - there’s nothing redeeming about this production whatsoever.

Awful boring movie. Milly was definitely miscast as Supergirl. At one point I thought I was watching a Star Wars clone rather than a superhero movie.

Supergirl is the typical story of a badass looser, finding her own way by helping a young girl in her path of revenge. Blend in the usual dull orange/blue colors of "the Flash", the plot is quite average, like most of the character's performances. I was expecting a great character and a good storyline, based on the comic book "Woman of Tomorrow". All I've got was a waste of money and a waste of time...

Loved it - 1984-2026 was a long time to wait for another Supergirl movie and this movie deserves a lot more credit. Nice movie with heart and a good cast.

Supergirl is another major disappointment from the new DC universe. I did not like Superman, and this film does little to restore my confidence in the direction the franchise has chosen. There are moments when it appears ready to recover, find genuine emotion or become something more interesting, but every time it comes close, it falls **** frustrating part is that not everything is bad. Milly **** is very good as Kara Zor-El. She has charisma, presence and a mixture of toughness, sadness and anger that could have created an excellent Supergirl. Even when the screenplay gives her very little, she suggests an inner life that the film rarely knows how to explore. This Kara did not grow up like her cousin. She witnessed the destruction of her world and carries far more painful memories. That offered a great opportunity to create a different kind of heroine: someone who does not represent clean, uncomplicated hope, but the difficulty of continuing after losing **** film mentions that trauma without truly examining it. Too often, it mistakes depth for showing Kara drunk, angry or sarcastic. It seems to believe that making her a troubled superhero automatically makes her a complex **** film takes Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as its starting point but loses much of what made the comic special. It keeps some recognizable characters and situations while abandoning its melancholy, moral weight and quality of a cruel, sorrowful space fable.A film adaptation does not need to reproduce every page. Changes are necessary. But these changes rarely feel designed to find a better cinematic form. Instead, the story has been forced into the preferred tone of the new DC universe: space adventure, irreverent comedy, strange creatures, familiar songs and characters trying very hard to appear **** influence of Guardians of the Galaxy is far too obvious. Strange planets, a dysfunctional group, jokes, popular music, a cute creature and a wounded protagonist using irony to conceal emotion. In those films, the pieces eventually created memorable characters. Here, they frequently feel like parts of a **** humour does not help. Some of it is childish, crude or simply forced. The film wants this Supergirl to feel wild, unpredictable and punk, but certain scenes seem written by people who believe rebellion consists of drinking, vomiting and saying something offensive.Krem is another serious weakness. He is flat, predictable and never especially threatening. We understand his purpose immediately, but he never develops enough personality to carry the conflict. The film attempts to give the revenge story emotional weight, yet it is difficult to fear such a forgettable antagonist.Ruthye could have provided the emotional heart of the story and revealed Kara’s gradual transformation. Their relationship includes a few effective scenes, especially when the film slows down and allows them to talk. Unfortunately, the screenplay rushes between planets, fights and jokes, preventing the connection from gaining enough depth.Other ideas and characters appear to have been included because somebody thought they would look good in a trailer. Lobo brings energy and noise, but his actual importance is questionable. Much of his involvement could disappear without significantly changing the story.Visually, the film has some attractive moments and the action is competently made, but it lacks a clear identity. There are colours, digital effects and space environments everywhere, yet they constantly recall other films. Everything looks expensive, but very few images remain in the **** music, however, is excellent. It may be the best part of the film alongside Milly ****. The songs provide energy that the scenes often cannot generate by themselves. One of the strongest moments comes with a very different version of Jimmy Eat World’s “The Middle.” It is not the original recording, but a reinterpretation that transforms the song considerably and works better than many of the scenes surrounding **** is also important to separate legitimate criticism from the reaction of people who attack the film simply because it stars a powerful woman. The fact that Supergirl is bad does not vindicate those who resent the existence of a female superhero. We can defend stories led by women while demanding that those stories be much better **** deserves another opportunity with the character. Her Supergirl has real potential, and several moments reveal the film this could have been: sadder, braver, stranger and far more distinctive.Instead, the finished film settles for a familiar formula. It tries to be irreverent, emotional, funny, dark and spectacular at the same time without fully succeeding at any of **** is not a complete disaster because **** holds it together, the soundtrack works and a few scenes suggest that it might recover. It never does. A good Supergirl trapped inside a fairly bad film.

A fun movie though without much depth. I am not the biggest fan of the "new" approach to super-powers, but the actress does a fine job portraying supergirl. Better than Superman (2015). A shame they rebooted superman, she would have made a great duo with Henry Cavill.

It's not as bad as people claim, but it's not a good movie either. The character dynamics are built around a very basic revenge story, and I'm fine with that, but my God, it's executed so poorly. The creators had so much background and source material to work with, and this is what they came up with?

It's not terrible. There are far worse comic book movies out there. But they just spent way too much money on this and the scripts is really messy. Plot points don't make sense and motivations are nonsense. Definitely a movie you can watch distracted. Have it on in the background while you're doing other stuff you can pop in and out of it. Not something i'd ever watch again. No memorable moments to come back to. 20% of the jokes landed for me. Bad guys are so boring.

A very bad approach, don't blame the actress is a full responsibility of the people behind, if you want to adapt a comic first the people involved have to be a fan of the genre, not a person who has hidden feministic agendas and just adapt a comic story to what they think should be better, seems the woke agenda and putting people who has not a deep background of comic passion it just comes as a stale piece of money wasted. Watched it and could pass the first 30 minutes, pace was convoluted, all felt forced and hollow, a muppet show has more soul than this.

It's just not good enough, even if I would say that it expands the Superman 2025 Universe. There is something terribly wrong with this movie, from the casting, music, action, acting and more. Is this a bad movie? No, is it a mid movie? Also no, it's slightly above average and doesn't do anything or show anything that's like "Wow, you need to see this". It still makes movies like Man of Steel, B vs S, even The Flash seem to be better, because they are... I'll give it a 6/10, but you really don't need to watch it. From what I understand is that, it adapts a very famous comic storyline; unfortunately, it's just not done well enough. I feel that something is there, but it just doesn't justify itself, as for most parts of the film it's not personal. Supergirl is mostly depowered, and they don't use that to really bring out the story that much. James Gunn and his plan to save the DCCU are not going so well.
I prefer Zack Snyder to just give us an ultra-dramatic action movie rather than this film that kinda makes Superhero movie fatigue a real thing.

I ignored the pre-release haters that won’t give movies a chance based on political views. BUT, wish I spent my money to see something else. Jeez, did they have to provide ammo for the pre-release haters and make them right about certain things? wtf.. Please just make movies without hidden agendas. Putting that stuff to the side, it jumped around too much, was too cliche about things, Krem was cool but they could’ve done more to make him HATED (like Thanos, Ultron, etc). Milly **** was fine but got hamstrung by TERRIBLE writing. I love Jason Momoa & wish he could find a good stable role in the Super Hero universe but so far it’s not working. I should’ve waited for this to stream.

Several plotholes and a nonexistant character arc for supergirl. It feels like they think the audience is stupid. They try to tear bait you with the dog, but there is no emotional depth. Also the villains are sex trafficking little girls (WTF?) so.... don't take your kids? The DCU seems like its DOA. At least we have the next movie... Cl-... Clayface???

They tried to do too much and only did a couple things successfully, they also tried to be too much like guardians of the galaxy
