The cast and the creature effects are better than this movie deserves for sure. I appreciate that they really tried to make a good aliens / predator like movie and enough of the story is interesting for me to recommend it if you like sci fi. I also appreciate the writing is smarter than the average monster flick. The way the alien tries to evade the humans is pretty clever and the team assembled to hunt her are pretty competent for the most part. I especially like the michael madsen character he's a real han solo type just no nonsense telling all these scientists how stupid they are haha. The forest whitaker character is so funny too he's borderline a telepath which is such an interesting thing to put in.

It's not terrible. There are far worse comic book movies out there. But they just spent way too much money on this and the scripts is really messy. Plot points don't make sense and motivations are nonsense. Definitely a movie you can watch distracted. Have it on in the background while you're doing other stuff you can pop in and out of it. Not something i'd ever watch again. No memorable moments to come back to. 20% of the jokes landed for me. Bad guys are so boring.

Firstly the action is definitely 110% the actors are giving it their all and then some. Unfortunately it's not my taste and i really wanted to like this. A lot of what i call falling down kung fu.. where they're trying to build intensity by having a lot of impractical grabbing, slipping, sliding and falling all over the place waving their arms kung fu which to me makes the action look more silly than visceral and cool. It's not all like that.. but so much of it is like that. If you like that kind of movie martial arts then you'll love this because they really go all out and have so much creativity. Unfortuantely for me i like more grounded realistic style. And i know it's never realistic but this is soo far from realistic. the english dubbing really takes me out of it too. it's like the jackie chan movies they brought over to america int he 9i0s and redubbed in english. I get what they're doing to try to get a broader audience but it sounds so off i wish they would just speak their native languages like when they speak mandarin sometimes. They have to do a lot of their acting with facial expressions and they do a good job! ..but it can only go so far.
