Spies in Disguise

This is terrific family entertainment.

There may be a sort of cutesy premise, and the message about fixing problems without violence might seem a bit innocent these days, but Spies in Disguise is absolutely charming.

A strange tonal mashup that turns the hypermasculine and hyperviolent world of glamorous spies, in the vein of James Bond or “Mission: Impossible,” and turns it into kid-friendly family entertainment.

Better in conception than execution, Spies In Disguise never really gets the best out of its James Bond Is A Pigeon high concept. The result is entertaining while it lasts, but won’t lodge itself permanently in your memory bank.

It’s a big-screen cartoon and, although it may work for its target audience – video game-consuming pre-teen boys – other viewers may find the production to be lacking in anything beyond a little visual razzle-dazzle.

The lessons are so treacly, and their delivery method so single-minded, that the Valley Girl phrase “gag me with a spoon” springs to mind. But you have to give the movie credit for sticking to its lack of guns.

Antic and frantic, Spies is very much a one-joke affair, which is fine for a short but woefully insufficient for a 101-minute feature.

I live to enjoy new fun filled adventures. This movie puts the family in a great place and feeds our imagination! Great flick! Ignore the superficial reviews!

Spies in Disguise has colorful glittery animation as it's a slick grenade filled with inspirational furry pigeon 007 action.

Cheesy, with cliches but quite enjoyable for first 40 min, then it gets very predictable. Humour is good! Didn't like the gluten free part being pushed 3 times. Its family movie good to watch with kids. Intro and ending montage is nice. Animation is top notch! Production is just great.

Another cringe worthy and predictable animation, covers the exact same themes and stupid stuff as the others but gets the same high praises from the likes of RT critics. Kids may like it sure, but if you are an adult please stay away from this film. For the best

I only bothered to see this movie because I had to babysit my two little cousins, but to tell the truth, it wouldn't have been so bad if I'd taken them to an R-rated movie. Movies 'Spies in Disguise' gives us a good explanation for Disney and Pixar continuing to dominate film animation. It pushes absurdity while at the same time throwing heavy-handed, disorganized and overly-sentimental messages of pacifism. I've gotten to the point where animation has lost a lot of its charm and appeal, and films like 'Spies in Disguise' are the reason why.
