Here’s a franchise you’d think had been done to death (wasn’t the last webslinger reboot, like, two years ago?), and yet Spider-Man: Homecoming feels fresh and new, an endearingly awkward kid brother to the glamorous “Wonder Woman.”

I absolutely love this film. This adaptation of Peter Parker might not be the most realistic or most serious, but this movie entertained me through and through. This is one of the rare instances where the villain - despite him not being too interesting in the comics - is actually neat. The technological advancements provided by Tony also allow for some entertaining or straight up spectacular scenes. The film preserves Peter's unique personality, and shows him truly as high-schooler... with some advantages. Peter's friends are unfortunately not too interesting, but otherwise I can't find any true mistakes. It was the first MCU film I saw in cinema, and I'd say it was a worthy experience.

There is a delightful innocence to Spider-Man: Homecoming, director Jon Watts’ take on the web-slinger that mixes some (but no too much, at least for a while) high-tech wizardry with some old-fashioned family fun.

Marvel movies are not concerned with altering your precious bodily fluids. This one is a slightly better than average example of the species. Watch it in good health.

Ultimately pleasurable if very disposable, Homecoming offers strong teen dynamics and for once, serves up high school-sized stakes instead of placing the planet in peril.

A little of the new Spider-Man went an exhilaratingly long way in Captain America: Civil War last year. But a lot of him goes almost nowhere in this slack and spiritless solo escapade, spun off from an initially intriguing premise that deflates around you with a low whine as you watch, like a punctured bouncy castle.

I mean I do like this movie but good god does it have its problems. Tony is essentially character assassinated and there are quite a few plotholes I can uncover. However while the problems are evident I still find this enjoyable and it’s kinda more of a nostalgic movie for me. It was the first movie we see of Spiderman being in the MCU. The Vulture works pretty well as an antagonist and he’s one of the best so far. He’s competing with Willem Dafoes Goblin and Molinas Doc Ock. This also feels the most on brand for the character as the second and third feel so different and not in a good way. The movie is also tame so it does get a bit dry in certain aspects but it’s not a massive issue unlike for the next two.

I don't know why I watched this when I knew it would leave a bad taste in my mouth. I just wanted to see what the Disney Corporation force-fed the masses in the guise of a Spider-Man film these days. There is a cut every 2-seconds. Rapid-fire, self-satisfied dialogue which only the writers found funny. Headache inducing, muddled, CGI goop all over the screen. Everything about the film is lightweight. The writing, the direction, the awful editing. I forgot almost everything I saw by the credits.
