Greetings from Lithuania. "How to Train Your Dragon" (2025) is a live action movie based on one of my favorite animated movies from 2010 - "How to Train Your Dragon". I really enjoyed this movie because it was very close to the material, yet a little bit of that magic probably was lost in transition. Nevertheless, this film was spectacular. Special effects while not on "Avatar" level did looks amazing. Toothless looked exactly as i remember it from animated movie. Acting was very good by everyone involved, especially by Gerald Butler, reprising his role in a movie. Sound effects, editing and cinematography was well as music were great. Overall, while "How to Train Your Dragon" movie adaptation doesn't hit the heights the animated movie did back in 2010, nevertheless it is a superb entertainment and one of the best live action adaptations out there. A must watch for the fans of the original.

Not me over here crying like the first time I watched the animated original! I will admit, I was skeptical about this movie because I generally don't like the live-action remakes, but I finally convinced myself to watch it and wow, am I glad! They didn't divert from the original story or fluff up any characters, it was all OG goodness! I think the casting was on point and the CGI was amazing. It was beautiful from beginning to end and I already want to watch it again.

Most of it was show by shot of the animated movie except the dragons are ugly and I cant buy Mason as Hiccup, at least not movie 1 Hiccup. Dont get me wrong, he did an amazing job but Hiccup in movie 1 is supposed to be this tiny walking fishbone and Mason is the tallest of the kids and looks as tall as Stoick already.

How to train your dragon live action was good. I throughly enjoyed the movie. The movie closely follows the animation movie. Phenomenal role from the cast, each actor /actress played the roles of each of their characters good. The dragon visuals match closely to the dragons as well but still “realistic” . I would highly recommend this movie.

Is it bad to say I enjoyed this movie more than the original? I think this movie being live action received a better reaction from me than it being animated. I don't think I need to explain the good things in this movie that much, but I will say the movie theatre experience was not as good as the movie.

I really like How to Train Your Dragon. It’s one of my favourite movies. I watched it last weekend, and it was amazing! The story is about a boy called Hiccup who lives in a Viking village. Everyone in the village is afraid of dragons. One day, Hiccup finds a dragon called Toothless. At first, he is scared, but later they become good friends. Together, they try to show people that dragons are not terrible. The film is very funny and exciting. The music is brilliant, and the flying scenes are really enjoyable. The story is also a little sad in some parts, but the ending is beautiful and happy. In conclusion, this movie is great for kids and adults. It’s an enjoyable and enjoyable story. I totally recommend it!

By the end of 2025, it will be considered one of the best shows of 2025. Gerard Butler carries but the ensemble cast and sidekicks are great. It's well written though mildly forced at times. The score is 10/10.

I was generally pleased with the movie and how it went. The music was fantastic, most of the acting was great, and, again, it was overall mostly enjoyable. The CGI was very good and enjoyable, the characters were nicely designed and I enjoyed the way they interacted a lot. Now the thing I did personally find REALLY annoying were the evergoing repetitions. The first part of the movie does a great job at showing the difficulties for Hiccup with going back and forth between his situations, but it's the just the same every. single. time. It slows the pacing of the movie down to what almost seems to be a halt which kind of pulled me out of the whole story. And since all of that took so much time, I personally find that it cut the story waaayyy short of what it could've been. The rest of the movie was short scenes flashing in one after the other. A missed opportunity in my opinion, but I also understand why they did it the way they did. There was a huge lack of emtions too. Let's just say... I wasn't very moved by the whole thing as I would have been by other movies. I wouldn't directly recommend watching it if you have other options, though I can't directly say it's bad either.

Movie started rough for me. Multiple characters do not sound like the original or resemble the character at all. Complete washing. The twins brother was perfect, his sister was fat and did not resemble the beloved character. Astrid could of been better casted, yet the actress is phenomenal as a character replacement. The entire cast was phenomenal. Love Gerard Butler and Nick Frost. By the time you get to the bonding of hiccup and toothless, the movie was spectacular. Many strong scenes of character development. Nothing felt rushed or dragged out. I started to cry and feel the love I felt for the original movies/series. The director and producers stayed true to the franchise. Bravo. Looking forward to more.

Despite the differences in the characters compared to the originals — and the fact that the Vikings look way too skinny, like a vegan skeleton club walking around, which has nothing to do with the original designs or real Vikings — the rest of the movie is absolutely amazing. It's the best live-action adaptation I've ever seen.

The original hit a few years after I had kind of moved on from the animated genre for a little while. Entertaining live action remake of the aninated feature is well made and produced. While it is a scene by scene remake, it is years since I saw the original, so there is nothing sense of deja vu while watching it.

Didn’t expect to love the live action this much. Toothless still steals every scene, and the bond with Hiccup hit just as hard as the original. Surprisingly entertaining live action remake of the animated original. Would I have preferred 20 different lower budget movies for the same price? Possibly. But if you have the time and are remotely interested in dragons then this may have something for you! It looked and sounded great on my home theater.

There are a few charming moments but the pacing and timing is all off. The editing is 80% why this live action version did not work at all! ... 15% is old and new dialogue. 5% performances.

Well, I just watched it and it's almost a 1:1 representation of the Animation, only that some scenes are inaccurate, unsatisfying and static, unlike the animation. Also, some of the actors were massively **** I mention there is unnecessary Diversity as well. Lol, did Universal just inject black people into the biking age...Seriously. Universal can go F off. Nobody asked for this. You know what we did ask for, though? MEGAMIND 2, yeah, I'm still Pissed about that. Why does Kung Fu Panda get 4 Movies, Madagascar get 3 movies, Shrek get 5, and Megamind only 1, with a **** TV show and sequel that both flopped? So now you want me to rate the Same Film again, but now in Live Action? Are you insulting me right now, Universal? If you read the books and have never seen it in Film or animation Form, then yeah, you are gonna like this. But if you have already read the books, seen the animated Films countless times, there is no need to watch this, there are no extra details, besides extended scenes to make the film longer. Yes, the CGI is good, yes the Music is still great, yes Stoick's VA nails Stoick in acting, but this doesn't make this version better, it's just riding off the success of the Animation.. Hence, so with all my **** and moaning, I can award this a 7/10. I would have given this a 6/10 personally because I've seen all of this already, but I always take into consideration the audience. Please, I'm begging you for Megamind 2, Please Universal, Don't make me watch HTTYD2, and watch Stoick Die Again, but this time in Live-Action...Just do both if you want to follow this up. Why can't we have both? Anyway, that's my review. This will be great for grade 8 learners who think Animation is for kids or whatever. Review over.

It’s a solid remake. It sticks to the original story pretty well, which is good. Casting is pretty good and the visuals are mostly great. My one big gripe is the sound; there were a bunch of scenes where the sound was just strangely mixed. Particularly noticeable in near the end, when the action and excitement is picking up, but the music is very muffled.

That was a really faithful adaptation of thr animated movie, that captures the essence and magic of the first one that made you feel so much.

This is the first movie I went to see in a very long time. I thought I was going in to see the orignal how to train your dragon, instead I ended up paying 30 bucks for the massive popcorn (theatre no longer sells medium) and the first 10 minutes of this atrocity. This is not even a movie it is some half live action half ai generated garbage pretending to be a remake of one of my favorite movies. It is the first movie I ever walked out of and I would like to personally masarce everyone in hollywood. It was that bad.

I would have been more happy with another series following the amazing "Race to the Edge", but this movie is honestly not bad. I wish the side characters got more fitting dialogue and scenes but other than that it is a welcome addition to the How to Train Your Dragon universe. Well done!

This was a great movie, definitely one of the better movies i've been to see so far this year. Animation was good, acting and story was good. Perfect role for Gerrad Butler and Nick Frost. Would recommend to go watch before it comes off the cinema.

This live-action movie worked for me because I didn't feel like I could just be watching the animated version of this movie instead. Massive props to the team for this movie in making a movie that is so well done!

had some fun watching it when it was in some of the exciting moments but the dialogue and tone was actually kind of cringey and uncomfortable. "ASTRID"'s general performance and features actually made me abit uncomfortable as i did not enjoy a single scene with her in it as she was either scowling or giving the scene a bad look. Hiccup performed well and i was surprised by the effectiveness of some scenes that made me smile and feel something. Its a movie that if you dont feel too invested in it can be good background noise as it does have 3-4 good action scenes.

“How To Train Your Dragon” (2025) is a heartbreaking butchering of everyone’s favorite action animation film. While the writers stay faithful to the source material, the execution fails to capture even the simplest of moments that made the original so heartwarming. Plagued with mistakes among which include cartoonish special effects, inorganic editing, scenes that are rushed or dragged out, changes to well established characters, unnecessary subtle political undertones and worst of all, the most insecure display of dialogue. Hopefully, Dean DeBlois and Dreamworks will stick to making animated movies moving forward.

As someone who's seen the original animated trilogy. I'm glad other then a few cast points that are different in ethnicity then the original (of which however play the roles beautifully so no complaints.) The live action version sticks to the actual story and points of the animated movie, unlike Disney who just changes their live actions completely to fit "Todays" audience aka the woke audience who doesn't even care about the movie in the first place. Soundtrack is just as phenomenal as the original, another plus point for keeping both Hiccup and Toothless' themes in tact. Cast is absolutely phenomenal as stated before with definite strong points to both Gerald Butler and Mason Thomas. A live action that stays true to the original, and comes off as much as epic as the original as well. Beautifully done.

I'm so deeply tired of current audience trends. We're just rewatching lesser versions of the original stories we passionately loved when we were younger and giving nothing new a chance. The lighting is wack, the character designs are vastly diminished, the timings are all off, the dramatic delivery is flat... What are we doing here? We're genuinely the old farts who can't recognise quality or give chances to new stories because that takes too much vulnerability. The old joke about nostalgia being 4k wasn't supposed to become our motto.

It's an acceptable film, but it clearly doesn't come close to the first one. Despite having a talented and important cast, some actors don't fit the characters as well, some important scenes were cut unnecessarily, impacting the story, the film made attempts to seal the deal on the characters, the script, despite being practically the same thing, underwent changes that weakened it. The film is average and doesn't come close to the first one.

Even though this is clearly aimed at kids and younger audiences, it doesn’t feel lazy or watered down. Compared to all the disappointing live action remakes we’ve seen lately, this one is a relief. It knew what it wanted to be and stuck with it, and that makes all the difference.
