As a massive Nolan Fan, I was very excited to see his take on the Odyssey. Controversy aside, Nolan is a solid filmmaker with very few blemishes on his resume, so I was expecting much of the same level of quality I've come to expect from a Nolan-directed film. The Odyssey is beautifully shot, and the performances are good (some better than others, especially during the third act)Unfortunately, however, this movie's pacing is abysmal. Scenes often overstay their welcome, making what should have been tense or emotionally impactful moments feel drawn out and, at times, monotonous. Having been a fan of the original story, a personal issue I have with the movie is the direction the story takes. Rather than staying focused on the central themes and events that made The Odyssey timeless, it diverts into material that feels unnecessary and, in some cases, at odds with the spirit of the source. Creative liberties are expected in any adaptation, but these changes rarely enhance the story and instead dilute what made the original **** film's slow pacing also hurts its final stretch. After such a long buildup, the conclusion struggles to deliver the emotional impact the journey should have earned. By that point, the drawn-out runtime had already drained much of the momentum, leaving the ending feeling less powerful than it should have been.There are moments of groundbreaking/impressive visuals and strong performances, but they aren't enough to overcome the sluggish pacing, questionable narrative choices, and lack of a satisfying payoff. As someone who loves the original epic, I left feeling more disappointed than satisfied by the end of the nearly 3 hour runtime.

To me this was one of the best horror experiences have I ever had! Very suspenseful and fun to watch throughout! Samara Weaving is masterful in the type genre and I absolutely love how there's dark comedy in a few parts. It's very important to note this is very gory no it's not a spoiler just a warning for the squeamish type; for the horror fans you're in for a wonderful treat!

This is the horror movie audiences have been asking for for years. Unrelenting, brutal, so original, so genuinely unsettling and creepy that at times you start laughing because your body doesn't even know how to regulate. Inde Navarrette is a revelation. Michael Johnston is incredible too. The strength of the acting elevates the premise so much. At no point did I know what was going to happen next, and with each escalation I was terrified to find out. My already high expectations were surpassed by 10 miles. Just brilliant stuff.

The sequel to the original movie is amazing and fun. I don't get the hate it gets so far. I honestly really enjoyed it with the cast, voice acting and great animation and actions sequences. The humor lands well too. Th colors used, world building and I think the fact it uses galaxy theme as a sequel fits perfectly the theme.

Project Hail Mary is the kind of movie that reminds you why you love cinema. It's been a long time since I felt such mixed emotions while watching a film-happiness, sadness, love, hope-everything is there. I went into it completely blind. I didn't watch a trailer; I only knew that Ryan Gosling was starring and that it was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and that alone made me believe it would be something **** it really was something **** direction is fantastic, the visuals are beautiful, and the music is enormous-it melts perfectly into the writing and the story. Everything works together to create something warm, emotional, and incredibly **** its heart, this is a movie about friendship, loneliness, change, evolution, bravery, and sacrifice. It's about doing good even when the situation feels impossible, and how goodness and courage can come back to you in unexpected **** a world that often feels dark and heavy, this film feels like a bright side. It brings genuine joy-the kind of joy movies are supposed to give you.

Sam Raimi drives the survival thriller genre to some amazing and sadistically giddy ends, with Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien along for the ride in the back seat cackling and stabbing each other the whole way through. Linda and Bradley’s ordeal creates immensely fertile ground for Raimi to interrogate the validity of first impressions with twists and turns of the plot and of various sharp objects that seldom tire. Sure, drag me to hell, but let's stop at this island on the way and have a freakin’ party with Linda and Bradley!

There’s much to love in Silver Linings Playbook, from its excellent performances to its pathos and humor. The film is definitely a crowd-pleaser, even though it suffers a few formulaic moments along the way. And if you’re a big Philadelphia Eagles fan then you’ll probably get even more of a kick out of Silver Linings Playbook.

Elizabeth Olsen shines as a woman caught between two great loves, with Miles Teller and Callum Turner delivering strong turns as her equally compelling suitors. Set in an afterlife that feels more grounded than fantastical,Freyne's Eternity is a rare original that invites laughter, reflection, and just the right amount of heartbreak-a warm, thoughtful journey through the emotional weight of love, memory, and what we choose to carry forward.

Guillermo Del Toro delivers a refreshing new take on one of the most famous horror stories of all time. Rather than crafting a typical horror film, he presents Frankenstein as an intimate and emotionally layered character study. Del Toro's deep affection for his "monsters" is once again evident - he consistently stands on their side, suggesting that the true monster is, in fact, Frankenstein **** performances are strong across the board. Oscar Isaac offers a convincing, if occasionally a little over-the-top, portrayal of Frankenstein. However, he is ultimately outshined by Jacob Elordi as the Creature. It's a challenging role that could have easily been one-dimensional, but Elordi imbues it with remarkable depth, emotion, and soul - a truly fantastic performance. Christoph Waltz delivers a familiar turn, very much in line with his recent work, while Mia Goth is solid, though it remains to be seen whether she truly lives up to her "next big thing" **** a technical level, the film excels. The cinematography is stunning, the set design meticulous, and the score beautifully complements the film's emotional tone. The makeup work is exceptional, and while the costumes are impressive, they occasionally verge on being a bit too extravagant.

Based on the wonderful novel, this film brilliantly tells the story of the unknown Zodiac killer, who operated in the late 60's and early **** will easily lose a full night or afternoon with this movie, it's incredibly, it's engaging, dramatic, and captivating. I love how the time passes by on the film, everything changes accordingly, it's very well produced. At times it's very sinister, and creepy, but it's subtle, nothing is forced or heavy **** acting is terrific, Ruffalo and Downey are brilliant, a fresh faced Jake Gyllenhaal is arguably the one that steals the **** really is a brilliant movie, I would recommend it highly.

Josh Saffdie continues his excellent run of movies by maintaining his trademark suffocating atmosphere in which a series of interwoven plotlines build into a never ending anxiety attack. Chalamet is a tour de force as Marty, playing his narcissism perfectly where you end up routing for him despite making bad and self centered decisions at all every turn. The anachronistic 80s synth pop/rock soundtrack is sensational and the film lets you know it's willing to get weird from the outset with two standout scenes (sperm and honey).

This movie was very very good. Acting, cinematography, direction, **** was all superb. Amanda seyfried acted ridiculously well to me. Sidney Sweeney had an amazing role. The pace and development of the characters was great. Felt gripped the whole time. Bravo!

I really like the futuristic setting and style. The post-apocalyptic Earth setting is interesting. It's a barren wasteland but there's a beauty to it. It looks like they filmed around parts of Iceland, it looks beautiful. The visuals are really nice. The mystery that surrounds the world and the story is what makes it interesting to watch. The cinematography is solid. Morgan Freeman looks dope with his shades. The sound design is really well done. This movie takes direct inspiration of HAL from 2001 Space Odyssey. The movie has some pretty decent sci-fi inspired twists while also making commentary on the dangers of ai. I think where the movie kind of falls flat is in its lore. It would've been interesting to see more visual backstory as to what happened to the world. Maybe show a glimpse of the war that happened between the machines and the humans. Still, solid movie.

Like INCEPTION, this is one of the few movies that you can't spoil since even the smallest detail could accidentally reveal a twist or two. The story itself is a very original blend of thriller, sci-fi and drama and it works. Full of unseen twists and with a high octane pacing, SOURCE CODE will keep you wanting for more as each answer is slowly revealed. The script helps too but its the actors, who deliver the lines well, who drive the movie into emotional levels. My only problem with the film is some weak foreshadowing but it thankfully doesn't affect the movie in a bad way and to give any more details would spoil the **** keep it short and to avoid accidentally spoiling a plot detail or two, SOURCE CODE is a must watch. It's one of the few original films out there in a market full of crap and it's definitely worth your money. It's just a pity that Hollywood doesn't seem to be supporting these kinds of films.

I have just finished my first viewing and have some thoughts for those who are trying to interpret what is going on. This is my guess and after some thought I think this really makes sense of the movie.I believe Adam Bell (the professor) is a made up personality of Anthony's (the actor). The movie is littered with clues throughout. I think Anthony desperately wants to be more than a third rate actor. His relationship with his pregnant wife is bad, she knows he's been cheating on her. When she goes to the school to see Adam she's disturbed almost to tears. This is not because he looks like her husband. Also, a pregnant woman isn't going to go across town over a strange guy calling her husband; no she went because she knows her husband is mental...that's why she was questioning him so much at home. She sees Adam at school and sits down next to him. Her husband doesn't recognize ****'s upset and the scene is tense because she now knows he's mental and faking being a teacher.More on Adam, at the beginning, he teaches the exact same class over and over, has the exact same sex with his girlfriend over and over...this is Anthony getting lost in his Adam **** mom, Isabella Rossellini, is the key to understanding. She leaves Adam a message at the beginning that his apartment is crap and how could he live there. That is Adam's apartment...Anthony has taken to fake teaching and an apartment to research his character of ****'s worried. Adam goes to the mom to tell her about his doppelgänger, and she tells him there is no other, she's the only mom, and he is the only **** ending: Adam has now completely taken over Anthony's personality. He dreams up that Anthony will take Adam's girlfriend for the weekend...this is all in Adam's head as he kills off Anthony. And this leaves Adam to enter into Anthony's life. The big clue is when his wife asks him how school was **** knows that her a-hole husband is mentally gone and is picking up on the vibe of **** goes along with it and likes the Adam personality better than the personality of her husband Anthony. She also tells him to call his mom...this is the detail telling you Anthony has the same mom as Adam. The wife knows Anthony and Adam are the same person, and Adam doesn't know it. At the end, the spider from his dreams eats his wife, this is Adam/Anthony realizing he's mental and lost all touch with reality.

One Battle After Another is at once serious and unserious, exciting and baffling, a tonal fusion sending that crazy fizz across the VistaVision screen – an acquired taste, yes, but addictive. The title itself hints at an unending culture war presented as a crazily extreme action movie with superbly managed car chases and a final, dreamlike and hypnotic succession of three cars through the undulating hills. And is the central paternity crisis triangle an image for an ownership dispute around the American melting-pot dream?Maybe. These ideas are very unfashionable in the US right now, which only makes this film more interesting: it is about dissent and discontent, and the lonely heroism of not fitting in.

I like it when a movie can keep me guessing until the end, and Gone Girl just did that. Most of the time I didn't know where this film was going, and each new twist and turn was a surprise. You can't help but get pulled into the story. The actors all gave excellent performances, as well. I don't think I'll ever be able to look at some of them the same way again. This movie is what a crime thriller should be.

Black Phone 2 is an effective sequel that boils over with reinvigoration. Colorado's blustery winter conditions paint a pristine snowcapped backdrop for The Grabber's origins, where he forces Finney and Gwen to confront their demons from beyond the grave. It's more about how survivors process trauma than it is a woodland killing spree, but that doesn't prevent white powder from being splattered with blood like a Jackson Pollock painting. Black Phone 2 might take a beat to reach top speeds, but once everything's singing in harmony—from The Grabber's supernatural revenge plot to Gwen's harnessing of her medium-esque powers for good—it’s more than a worthy follow-up. The film is a template for how sequels can reach further and push for standalone appeal, valuing originality over redundancies that reward fans instead of manipulating their dedication to fandoms.

Nightcrawler is an experience - it takes you on this journey through the grimy streets of LA, through the corrupt minds of media moguls, and everything is told through the eyes of seemingly charming slimeball reporter Louis Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal).Nightcrawler works on so many levels. The writing and direction is fantastic, which is especially impressive as it's the directorial debut by Dan Gilroy who takes on both duties. He had a clear vision of how he wanted to portray LA and the sleek, brooding yet slightly lackadaisical tone transfers perfectly onto the big screen. The acting is phenomenal - Gyllenhaal gives a performance that's the polar opposite from his character in Prisoners and he was on point for every second. He was the perfect casting choice to carry the **** movie has a clear message on the media and how they abuse stories and reap the benefits regardless of who gets victimized. It's a message that has been told a million times before, but never quite like this. Nightcrawler throws you right into the gritty streets along with a hustling thief, Lou, who starts freelancing as a videographer of crime scenes and selling his footage to a news channel for money. We go along this journey with Lou and watch his transformation from being a sleazy but ambitious individual to becoming a manipulative, self-serving sociopath. Then you start to realize that he was like that all along. His charming charisma masked his true intentions, and this peek into his psyche is the most potent and disturbing aspect of the movie. It's a character study that encompasses an entire lifestyle, and told with enough elegance and wit to keep you on board the whole way.

Prisoners is a gritty, incredibly well-acted, suspenseful, thought-provoking crime drama thriller. The film mainly focus on the choices taken and the consequences faced by the characters when worst things happen to **** simply raises the question: When your kid's life is at stake, how far are you willing to do to protect your family? It explores the likelihood of human behaviour when such crime is happening to us, blurring the lines between good and bad **** a 153 minute movie, the story does unfolds at a slow and solemn pace (which hurts the film and might bore some audiences) but the dramatic scenes performed by the main cast members in the film will keep you engaged. Hugh Jackman and Jack Gyllenhaal both giving intense, Oscar-worthy performances here, defining and developing their characters with various layers of emotions: affection, anger, grief, empathy, guilt...throughout the **** film's atmosphere, heavy rains, stormy days and icy cold winter managed to create a dark, dreadful environment to make up the dreary and haunting mood in the film. Every violent action taken by the characters are acts of desperation given that they are running out of time.

Easily Mr Tarantino's best work since Jackie Brown it is a **** the references are there but they do not interfere with the story, they are not the driving force. Yes Eli Roth is stunt casting but he works fine, with little to do but look aggressive, and does nothing to hurt the film as i had feared. While i admired Mr Tarantino for using stuntwoman Zoe Bell as herself in Death Proof in order to amp-up the exhilaration of the major stunt scene her lack of any acting ability in a key role was a problem for the film. The same could be said of Tarantino's own appearances in several films, especially Robert Rodriguez's From Dusk Till Dawn, which Tarantino wrote.What really makes this work is how BIG it is. The spaghetti western vibe to much of the style, dialogue and performances is wonderfully over the top without descending too far into the cartoon quality of Kill Bill. The violence is so big. The audacity so big. Brad Pitt is so big! In the trailers the **** moment and Pitt's performance bothered me but in the context of the film they are hilarious. Pitt is actually brilliant here, exactly what he needs to be. He is Mifune's blustering samurai in Yojimbo, he is Robards Cheyenne from Once Upon a Time in the West, there is a very James Coburn vibe to him, and of course a suitably Lee Marvin edge.Christoph Waltz (who i did not previously known) and Melanie Laurent (who i first noticed in a brilliant French-language British short film by Sean Ellis) are sensational and i expect to see both used a lot more in the future. Tarantino has clearly not lost his eye for casting, which seemed to desert him in Death Proof. Waltz is equally large in his performance. Chilling, yet theatrical. He is Fonda from OUATITW, Van Cleef from Good, The Bad & the Ugly. And Laurent is suitably Cardinale innocence but tough, a fighter. They both dazzle here.

Nicholson, Damon, and Dicaprio make for an absolute powerhouse trio in this classic film. I have had this on my watch list for quite some time, and although it wasn't as rock solid as I was expecting, it's ending was right up my alley. Aside from the phenomenal acting and the satisfying conclusion, I was only impressed with the simplicity of which a complex double-rat story was told. I never felt lost trying to keep track of who worked for who and who was spying on who, because the filmmakers laid it out so clearly for me.

It is a strange comment to make about a film set inside a prison, but “The Shawshank Redemption” creates a warm hold on our feelings because it makes us a member of a family. Many movies offer us vicarious experiences and quick, superficial emotions. “Shawshank” slows down and looks. It uses the narrator’s calm, observant voice to include us in the story of men who have formed a community behind bars. It is deeper than most films; about continuity in a lifetime, based on friendship and hope.

Smile is a disorienting, anxiety-inducing nightmare that leaves you questioning everything you see. The scares feel over-abundant at first, with feints and fake-outs almost laughably frequent, but they eventually create a creeping paranoia that nothing is quite as it seems. The scares are utterly terrifying at times, and Sosie Bacon plays the troubled Dr. Cotter with a deft hand, exploring difficult subjects of mental health stigma while fighting back the hysterics. Right from the start, Smile gets under your skin. It may borrow from plenty of other horror tales, but director Parker Finn still manages to do a few fresh things with these well-worn tropes.

Get Out’s whole journey, through every tense conversation, A-plus punchline and shocking act of violence, feels totally earned. And the conclusion is worth each uncomfortable chuckle and moment of doubt. Ultimately Get Out can’t help but ask the question: How would all these white people feel if they could walk in a black person’s shoes for a day? And that’s something worth considering.

How to Train Your Dragon brings the animated original into live action with care and a clear understanding of what made it work. The visuals land well, the tone stays intact for the most part, and the film manages to be fun, especially for younger audiences. The pacing and treatment of some characters hold it back from being great, but it still earns its wings.

Quentin Tarantino doesn't shy away from the horrors of slavery in Django Unchained even as he delivers a weird, wild, and bloody violent crowd-pleaser in this raucous salute to the spaghetti western.

Director Osgood Perkins brings his signature style to a serial-killer procedural that combines grisly true-crime aesthetics and uncanny Satanic horror. It Follows’ Maika Monroe stars as a plucky FBI agent in the Clarice Starling mold, with Nicolas Cage as her Buffalo Bill – as only Cage could (or would) play the role. Supernatural elements alter our sense of reality, making it feel like something evil is emanating from the movie itself.

The Monkey marches to the beat of its own bloodstained drum – and it’s an irresistible rhythm to groove to. Osgood Perkins and cast balance the horror and comedy inherent in the movie’s silly premise exceptionally well, and the surreal, absurd touches the Longlegs director adds to a world sketched out by Stephen King only help to set it apart from less imaginative, body-count-obsessed movies. The evil influence of the titular, cursed toy results in blockbuster showcases for fantastic gore effects that, when paired with the film’s surprisingly gentle stance on the inevitability of death, affirm how potent horror-comedy can be when executed with a strong perspective and a willingness to get weird.

While the overall concept of Abigail comes across as if cobbled together from disparate sources, the actors (for the most part) occupy a consistent, darkly humorous wavelength that helps the elements congeal. Thanks to their chemistry, they land almost every blood-soaked punchline. At the center of the chaos, Melissa Barrera commands our attention as a level-headed antiheroine with the clear goal of owning up to her past mistakes. Her solemn performance grounds the movie and its gnarly gags in real emotion.

If you truly listen to The Substance, what it’s saying is that the industries we rely on for many things – our entertainment, our wellbeing, our connection to other people – are corrupted by unfounded fears of female aging, loss of beauty, and the next generation. Sure, it’s an exaggerated and somewhat obvious film, but that doesn’t make director Coralie Fargeat’s point any less true – nor does it detract from the tremendously gory way in which she makes it. Elisabeth’s story is a tragedy because those who are allowed to age are actually the lucky ones. To deprive yourself of that grace – physically, mentally, or both – in order to fulfill someone else’s twisted goals is a fate which The Substance hopes no woman will ever have to suffer again.

The Black Phone, C. Robert Cargill and Scott Derrickson's clear sister to Sinister, has managed to exceed extremely high expectations in nearly every aspect. The writing/directing team puts personal traumas on full display while expertly showcasing the complications of childhood in the '70s and the very real monsters of our world, while the performances of the child actors Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw take the already tight story to new heights.

Weapons is a confident, well-written mystery-horror that rewards patience with a satisfying and unpredictable payoff. Its structure keeps things moving, its characters have weight, and its last act is a ride worth taking. Even if you’re not big on horror, you might still walk out entertained.

The Conjuring: Last Rites is more than just a film—it is a masterful conclusion to one of the most beloved horror franchises of our time. Without a doubt, this chapter stands as the most gripping, terrifying, and emotionally profound entry in the series. It is rare for a horror movie to strike such a perfect balance between bone-chilling scares and heartfelt human drama, but Last Rites achieves this effortlessly.

Together works because it doesn’t treat its body horror as just gross-out spectacle. It ties the discomfort to real anxieties about intimacy, commitment, and the fear of losing yourself in a relationship. Shanks’ debut isn’t perfect at all, the cult subplot is thin, and some aspects are predictable. But the central metaphor is strong enough to make those flaws feel secondary. The imagery of two bodies fusing grotesquely is used to ask whether closeness can become a trap. That’s what gives this messy love story its staying power.

Drew Hancock’s Companion is a funny and clever thriller, carefully balancing dark moments of violence and unsetting reveals with a disarming sense of humor. Sophie Thatcher is terrific as a woman who’s invested all she can into a relationship, only to discover the man she loves and their life together is far from what she thought it was. Playing the man in question, Jack Quaid continues to exploit his natural likeability in impressively subversive ways.
