SummaryFlyboys, the first World War I aviation film in over 40 years, is inspired by the epic, courageous tale of the American young men who would become known as the legendary Lafayette Escadrille. They were ordinary boys who volunteered for the First World War looking for adventure, and in the process, they became heroes. Never before has a movie so... Read More

A highly enjoyable programmer about those brave young men and their rickety flying machines.

Part of what makes these kind of war movies such cinematic comfort food (aside from the moral certainty they strive to convey) is their familiarity. But I wonder if said familiarity is what compels contemporary filmmakers to overstuff the material -- Flyboys is a good two hours and 20 minutes.

One of my favourite movies. What a great story with great characters. James Franco at his best here. The ending was disappointing but grounded in reality. I dont get any of the hate people have for this incredible film. It has a lot of heart.

Heavily underrated movie. Good story with an interesting topic: WW1 flight aces are a rare film topic to find. I especially liked the dogfights which were pretty intense. Worth watching!

There's something almost perversely old-fashioned about Flyboys.

The aerial dogfights are thrilling, but the script seems to have been written by Snoopy.

Just about everything in the video-gamey World War I picture Flyboys rings false, although the planes certainly are terrific.

The computer-generated flying effects are the only reason to see the movie, but at some point somebody left the computer on too long, so it went ahead and spat out the script.

The creators of Flyboys know no image too clichéd, no narrative convention too exhausted and no psychological motivation too pat that it can't do service.

It's a very well made movie. Great acting, impressive cinematography, compelling characters and very well done action sequences. Flyboys may not be the best war movie out there and some people may find it a little bit too long, but it's still a good movie.

With an exceedingly long run time and sub-par special effects, Flyboys feels like a Disney adventure flick, and not the highly intense historical masterpiece it should be.

Boring and unremarkable epic movie. The acting was bland and the action scenes were not enough to enjoy it.
