Eight Legged Freaks

A cunning and hilarious update of the giant-insect movies of the 1950s.

Eight Legged Freaks is a B-movie-and-proud-of-it thrill ride, probably the best of its kind since "Tremors." It does just what a good creature feature is supposed to do: It entertains with laughs, gasps, gooey spectacle and a bemused sense of fun.

It's the filmmakers' post-camp comprehension of what made old-time B movies good-bad that makes Eight Legged Freaks a perfectly entertaining summer diversion.

This update of 1950s drive-in sci-fiers finds the right balance between icky, funny and scary, with sheer energy compensating for a script that could have used more parodic panache.

I can't say I was scared, but I wasn't bored. By way of full disclosure, Warner Bros. provided free popcorn at the screening. I gobbled up every greasy morsel.

The few isolated funny moments, particularly a witty visual gag involving a pop-up tent with legs, provide only a short break from the screen-flooding onslaught of CGI creatures and screaming extras.

Limps along, spinning not a silken web but an extremely derivative, tattered one not likely to snare anybody's interest.

Probably one of the best horror comedy i have ever ****'s funny and there is a lot of **** spiders are cheesy but they are supposed to be like this.Probably the best spider movie i have ever seen.

In case you couldn't tell, this movie is supposed to be goofy. I mean, how much goofier can you get when you have a movie about spiders that grow to gigantic size when they eat contaminated crickets? One thing you should know is that this movie DOES NOT take itself seriously. But that's a good thing, because this movie is pure camp and nothing else. Characters are somewhat sloppy, the spider special effects are decent (especially for 2002) and the humor is well put together. All in all, if you are sad and want a movie to cheer you up, watch this.

This was fun! A stupid creature feature that knows it's stupid and just rolls with it. This movie is just a ride from start to finish, it sometimes borders on being a Looney Toons cartoon. I mean, the spiders roar and scream, they punch people to death (including cartoon sound effects). I really liked that they included different kinds of spiders who hunt differently. The CGI look dated but in a good way. Also, there is no unnecessary drama, everything is very efficient plot wise. Didn't like the score, though.

A 50's movie concept given a modern make over. Tell your brain to go missing and enjoy the B rate acting, B rate CGI and B rate cast (including a young Scarlett Johansson)

It's a good attempt at a 50s/60s sci fi monster flick in a modern setting enjoyable in parts.
