Finally watched this movie, always wanted to give it a try, didn't know it's a spinoff to Rocky. The story was good; I liked the tension between his presence, the cancer, and his relationship. Good introduction about what he is and who he is. The fight was great, the punch is crisp, and the swelling looks real. The training sequence was classic but satisfying to watch. I wish they used more music to give the vibe, and the shot, in my opinion, could be more cinematic. Overall, solid.

Creed is a fantastic film on its own, but it is an amazing tribute to the legendary sports film that came before it in Rocky (and, in some ways, its sequels). Michael B Jordan is fantastic, the fighting/training scenes are intense, and,as a whole,Overall, this is a superb film that both fans of the Rocky franchise and newcomers can appreciate

I wasn't expecting this movie to be that good. I was blown away by this movie. Way better then all the rocky movies combined. Just the way they play the history of the movie was awesome.

I want to begin by praising Sylvester Stallone for his portrayal of Rocky. In my opinion, he was the movie's standout performance. In spite of this, I felt that the entire movie was a bit sluggish and lacked many fresh concepts. Adonis was essentially rocky, and Rocky practically plays Mickey. I doubt it was a nice addition to the heritage and, by the way, I was a great fan of the previous four. I wonder whether the money invested in it was truly worth it. To be honest, this movie accomplished one thing better: the boxing itself was better. It seemed much more plausible.

8.5/10 Creed was definitely a fresher in the Rocky saga, lead now by Adonis Creed performly well by Michael B. Jordan, trained by the one and only Rocky Balboa in one of his more mature but good performance by Sylvester Stallone, directed by Ryan Coogler, Coogler used to make these fascinating and incredible long shot in Creed and i really really like that, the quality of the film was great, the music was great, supporting cast was great, and the story of Creed was in a way did feel like you're watching the first Rocky again, the differences is it's more modern and of course different personality and Adonis works for me, so overall for a 2 hours plus movie Creed was followable, i did wish i get to see a more epic main event and just a bit more of Ricky Conlan before the main event so i can taste his character even more but for what it is i'm still fine with it, Creed overall was still a great film, a great fresher, a great starter that still not perfect and i do hope it's going to be better and better.

A perfect boxing film that intrigues you and shows boxing scenes that are very intense and makes you feel part of the movie. I liked that they followed the timeline and everything is connected. Apollo Creed was very important for Rocky and making a film of him training Apollo's son targeted emotions of boxing viewers that like Rocky. Michael B Jordan fits perfectly in the role and the way he acted is stunning, he showed a lot of emotions that cause the audience to feel his pain but also his happiness and how he managed to learn from his mistakes and maximize his potential by mixing strength and intelligence. The connection between Rocky and Creed was very important for the movies success. Since the beginning of the movie I felt how it engaged me and made me feel part of it. It also connects with young people and I know some of them have started to watch the Rocky movies due to the success of Creed. I really liked the movie, the environment, the scenes, and the actors performances.

The same story, new generation. It's interesting to see how Stallone knew how to reinvent his Rocky character; now as a coach and surrogate father of a boxer who seeks to write his own name and destiny. If you are a fan of sports dramas, this one meets all expectations.

Creed. Return to a new history. One of the few films in the Rocky series that is well thought out and done well. Good drama, sports component. Excellent camera work during battles.

Creed is, in my opinion, useless. Rocky's brand just doesn't have anything to shoot anymore, so they created a new series for us, where Rocky coaches and it's not bad, not at all. It's actually good. Supr workout, which we have already seen with Rocky and even better. It's just the relationship already, well. When we watched practice and cheered on Rocky for many years, it's suddenly weird to watch him only from the point of view of the coach and cheer for Creed. But otherwise don't get me wrong. A good movie. Oh yes. I recommend it, especially to fans of the Rocky series, who long for a new film, which unfortunately can no longer be made due to the age of Sylvester Stallone, so at least we can see it here in the form of a coach.

I was skeptical as to whether Rocky would be carried on again with dignity, but I have to say that Creed really blew me away. A thoroughly successful continuation. It fits almost everything like a fist on the eye and is blessed with brilliant acting. Michael B. Jordan in particular but also Rocky himself do a great job. The film takes you on a journey like the old Rocky parts could and always lets you cheer. Here you just have to step into the ring, this film is worth it.

When this was anounced, I didn't think it would work. It seemed like yet another passing-of-the-torch reboot/sequel that reeked of desperation to cash in on nostalgia. It wasn't. Or maybe it was. But it sure didn't feel like it. It was fresh, it was exciting, it was emotional. It was everything a Rocky movie should be and so much more. Michael B. Jordan is incredible, and Sylvester Stallone is the best he's ever been. Best Rocky movie? Probably Best Stallone performance? Definitely It's amazing. My favorite Ryan Coogler movie.

Adonis Creed, son of Apollo Creed, son from an affair that not much people know about is found by his mother and grow up with Anne. Adonis guided by his mom try to follow a normal life, but he just can't do it, so he, that already is very familiarized with fightining, got to a bus to Philladelphia, where he can meet and train with one of his father's best friends and best fighters in history, Rocky Balboa and become a professional boxer. Altrough the idea to make this film is really nice, the story itself isn't much original, it actually looks a lot like the first Rocky movie, with different motivations in some aspects, but in overall is that old and known story, not bad at all, but very familiar. That hero journey with downs, reluctance, fighting and a rising ending. The whole journey is good, how he goes to Rocky, his relationship with him, you can feel the difficult sometime, the struggle and the happiness. The movie also contain some funny parts, they do work pretty well. The Adonis Creed looking for proving that he is deserving is a great thing in here, it is a perfect inspirational for him and for us to watch, i really wanted to know how it was gonna go. Michael B. Jordan did a great performance, his character so as intimidating, also have a sensitive layer, he convinced in a lot of moments, rage, happiness, sadness, hope, great job. The fact that we already know kind of how the story gonna go, the up and downs, one differential thing that they added is the side parts of Adonis, while one is very crucial, the other not that much in the story perspective, wich would be: Rocky and Bianca. Rocky, i just think that he is more than perfect in this film, a post post carreer after retired more than one time, after a lot of dead friends and familiars gone, he is staying with a way more relaxed life, but in other hand, very alone, without much people in his side, a Rocky that lives a lot in the past with what he have accomplished. While he apparentely wasn't doing many things in his life anymore, Adonis came and gave him some new challenge, some new goals in his life, and i think that this was just amazing. Sylvester Stallone did a hell **** job, he could culminate all of that and you truly feel that he went through a lot, because he did, the guilt, missing, solitude, all of that he delivered. Bianca, i did like her character, since the first moment where she appeared in the story i already did, she seemed totally free and different, the chemistry between her romantic couple works just fine, you buy them. Her hearing situation together with the music and shows kind of give some layers to Adonis, but not really, it feels like if you cutted her character off the film it wouldn't feel incomplete, and that is always a problem, she could have had more impact in some way. Tessa Thompson did a very nice job, the caring and the rebel way, it was really nice. There are two big fights in this film. The first one, i gotta say, it is unbelievable, for this one there isn't many different moves or inspirational moments, but again, is the first big fight, and for compensate that, what they did was more than great, they did the whole fight in a long take, no apparent cuts at all and that was incredible, the camera goes there and come back in here, the movimentation and the choreography is all great, it is fun, the camera goes to Rocky, then to the other trainer, it was fantastic, you can always hear Bianca and Rocky giving tips and participating. The second fight, isn't in a long take, but in other hand, it is so enthusiastic, since the first minute, how much the fight means, for him to be someone or not, the narrative was really important to make this one works how it did, the whole situation for Creed to prove to himself that he is not a fraud, that he is real and deserves by his own merits was a strong aspect. The whole fight is great, the choreography is really good, while the fight is going i was getting more tense of what could happen, together with other characters, all the time they showed, Rocky, Bianca and Adonis mother, wich was perfect in giving more blood into it. The fact that they brought a real boxer is really interesting Tony Bellew does act fine, but his moviments are very subtle on ring and while together with Michael B. Jordan i'm sure that they had a lot of tips from Tony on what could have been better to do, so as Gabriel Rosado. While the final ending you are cheering all the time, punching together and screaming together with the crowd, it is so well done and the whole thing is very satisfying. The soundtrack is really on point, there are rap songs playing all the time wich fit perfectly with the context in a lot of moments, the songs are good and got me cheering in a lot of moments. The score is great and there is one specific moment where they play the classic Rocky theme, and it is perfect, the one moment where this happens is fantastic and pumped me up, really powerful moment.

Creed, directed by Ryan Coogler, sees the return of Rocky Balboa and the rise of Adonis Creed, Apollo's son. Michael B. Jordan is absolutely brilliant in this film as a conflicted young man who doesn't know what to do with his life until he starts training with Stallone. This is the best performance from Sylvester Stallone I have ever seen. I still think he deserved that Oscar more than Mark Rylance. The story about an underdog is simple and cliched, but the dialogue and the characters make this movie shine. I'm so glad to say that the seventh movie of this wary franchise with ups and downs is at its highest and best ever since the first Rocky. Also, it's important to mention that this movie is directed magnificently. The long shots and the one-take fight scene are stunning and captivating.

time takes everybody out.. Creed The choreography has definitely improved and the space and time has increased to allow the actors and the characters to sink in just to relive everything once more; the ring, the press conference, the training and even the chickens. Creed is executed like never any other Rocky franchise before but the material seems to be offered earlier too leading disappointment in the audience who came for the advanced version of it. Ryan Coogler's depiction of the Rocky through his eyes is interesting enough but his vision seemed too blurry or distracted to get a closer look at it. Sylvester Stallone after having played the same role seven times still breathes and looks out for the same old Rocky that we encountered in '76. Creed breaks out thin ice and walks boldly on new surface only to find out that it too was thin ice all along but having said that it never is dull to enter in that same old ring.

What to say about this movie excepted it's a masterpiece. You grow to care for the characters and the relationship between them. Michael C. Jordan and Stallone give their best performances yet in one of the best movies of 2015. The movie is a thrilling and emotional rollercoaster and the endfight pushes you to the edge of your seat.

I can’t say I’ve ever thought of myself as a Rocky fan. The series has suffered from over familiarity and almost too much cultural impact. In all likelihood my generation of movie goers are more familiar with the endless parodies of Rocky than the films themselves. So its safe to say reinventing the series is no easy task. With Creed however, director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan build on the Rocky legacy while creating their own distinct and entirely modern boxing drama. The story centres around Jordan’s Adonis Creed, son of former world heavy weight champion Apollo Creed. Apollo (played by Carl Weathers in the first four Rocky films) died in the ring after fighting Ivan Draggo, leaving behind not only his wife and their children, but also an illegitimate son in Adonis. Adonis (or Donny) grows up wanting nothing more than to emulate the father he never knew as a fighter. After quitting his job and moving to Philadelphia, Donny tracks down Apollo’s former rival come-friend Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) to mentor him as both a boxer and a man. As a sports film Creed very much plays on familiar troupes, as Adonis rises through the world of boxing all the while trying to get out from his father’s shadow. However, it’s in the scenes between Stallone and Jordan where Creed really shines. The younger actor has been consistently great in almost everything he’s touched so far and his performance here is no exception. In certain moments the actor’s restraint as he holds back tears, anger and pride, is simply phenomenal. Sylvester Stallone’s performance in Creed is by far his best in decades. In certain scenes his portrayal of the character he created back in 1976 is simply heart-breaking. In my opinion the actor’s Oscar nomination and Golden Globe win are certainly well deserved, wether he’ll win the Academy Award on the night however, is another matter. Coogler has a great understanding of what audiences’ first engaged with in the original Rocky film from ‘76. As well as a compelling sports story the film was as much about Rocky’s relationships with those around him and the city of Philadelphia as it was about two men hitting each other. The director brilliantly recaptures this feeling in Creed allowing Donny’s relationship with ‘the-girl-next-door’ type Bianca (Tessa Thompson) to develop in much the same way that Rocky and Adrian came together in the original. Although Creed’s greatest strength is as a drama, the boxing scenes are perfectly handled and give a real sense of being in the ring with the fighters. Despite being vastly different films, Creed shares certain techniques with The Revenant — namely the use of long unbroken shots. Donny’s first professional fight is shot in this style as the camera switches from one fighters’ perspective to the other in a fantastic display of fight choreography and film making. If there’s is one major flaw in the film is that the focus on Donny and Bianca’s relationship can often pull you away from the Rocky-Donny storyline at its centre. Having said this, if there is to be an ongoing series the foundation must be this central relationship and in this sense, we may be glad of the amount of screen time given to Bianca further down the line. To my mind any great sports film transcends the sport itself to become something more. Creed can certainly count itself amongst such contemporaries as Rush and Warrior in achieving this goal. Ultimately the film is about a lost boy finding a father and a lonely widower finding a son. I for one can’t wait to see where this new series goes as it continues to step out from the Rocky series’ shadow to create its own cinematic legacy.

Fans of boxing and Rocky will rejoice after seeing Creed. One of the best boxing films that has come out in the last decade, and one of the best sequels in the Rocky franchise. The fighting and choreography are incredible, the way the film makes you feel what the characters feel is poignant and long lasting. Maybe Sylvester Stallone's best performance as an actor. Don't miss out on Creed!

Well directed and well written, entertaining and refreshing, certainly Creed gives life to a franchise that seemed to have died and breaks new ground with a new protagonist. The film accomplished without getting complicated and is an excellent addition to the Rocky series.

As a Rocky fan I was very eclectic about "CREED", but I ended watching it around 4 times in theaters, and I cried everytime. This movie is just perfect: excellent screenplay, direction and performances (Sly deserved that Oscar thanks to his emotive performance). Music, editing, photography and camera moves takes the cinematic experience to another level, specially that one-shot choreography on Adonis VS Sporino fight. "CREED" became my All Time Favorite; it´s a Masterpiece, for real!

If you've seen Rocky before, nothing will surprise you here. What really disappointed me was the CGI fights, the hits were obviously fake. That was one of the things I enjoyed about the original Rocky movies is that they were actually hitting each other, maybe not as hard as real fighters, but they were real hits. This movie was just done with CGI, guess the pretty boys didn't want to hurt their face. lol

Creed just goes to show that any franchise can keep producing great movies as long as the storyline and energy stay fresh. As a Rocky movie, it stayed true to the elements the franchise is known for, at the same time adding original content and updates to technology. Another Creed movie will do just fine.

'Creed' was a movie that I had wanted to see in the theatre when it first came out, but didn't get the chance to. I finally sat down to check it out today, and after just having finished it, found that I really enjoyed it. Billed as a spinoff to the 'Rocky' franchise, 'Creed' succeeded in making its own way while maintaining the great things that 'Rocky' was able to do over 6 films (ok, 5...Rocky 5 ****). Our story follows Adonis Johnson, a troubled youth, growing up in and out of the foster care system, until he is taken in by a woman claiming to be the wife of his deceased father. Adonis never knew his father growing up, as he died before he was born, according to the woman. Adonis turns out to be the son of Apollo Creed, former adversary-turned-friend of Rocky Balboa. As you may know, if you're a fan of the franchise, Apollo was killed during a match against Ivan Drago in Rocky 4. Adonis is the result of an affair Apollo had with another woman while he was married. The woman who takes Adonis in as a child, Mary Anne Creed was Apollo's wife. She still takes Adonis in even though she wasn't his real mother. Fast forwarding to the present, Adonis is an amateur fighter, fighting in Mexico and living in Los Angeles with Mary Anne and leading a privileged life with Apollo's fortune. Adonis looks to make his own way in life, trying to step out of the shadow of his father. He quits his job and moves to Philadelphia to train with Rocky Balboa. Reluctant at first, Rocky eventually agrees to train him and Adonis winds up scoring a title fight with current champion, 'Pretty' Ricky Conlan. Adonis, now fighting under the surname Creed, takes Conlan to the limit, losing in the final round by split decision but gaining the respect of the boxing world. This movie was pleasantly surprising, as I am a big fan of the 'Rocky' franchise. I was unsure how this spinoff would fare. It wasn't a 'Rocky' movie but still had many elements of the films to come before it. Rocky's dialogue and mannerisms were on par, though his age and health status made for a different dynamic. His growing relationship with Adonis throughout the film was heartwarming. As Rocky's health fails and he is diagnosed with cancer, I really felt the weight of it pushing down on Adonis, as he'd began looking at Rocky as a father figure. Adonis' relationship with love interest Bianca also was nice. She served as another emotional crutch and a source of motivation along with Rocky. The training scenes were a lot of fun and reminiscent of the 'Rocky' franchise, even the music brought back that nostalgic feeling, but was also subtle and masterfully used. Overall a solid film that I quite enjoyed. There were a few cheesy and unbelievable moments, but that's to be expected for the type of film it is. My rating: 8 out of 10

Overrated. The fight scenes were so unrealistic. And the love story was forced. In fact, the entire story made no sense. I was very disappointed.

Creed is another unexpectedly excellent Rocky movie, albeit with Rocky shifted off to the sidelines a bit. The boxing scenes are exciting, the acting is great and the film's spirit is undeniable. The only annoyance comes via the over-use of plot-points lifted from the original Rocky movie. But still a great flick.

Though an imperfect film, Creed is the perfect boxing film. If I were to envision the best possible product of the majesty, mystique, and intensity, brought to the table by boxing, Creed captured it all. From the brilliant walk-out music (the great soundtrack in general), the training, and absolutely stunning fight choreography and cinematography, Creed has it all. The non-boxing parts can feel a bit disjointed at times and then of course it has classic Rocky cheese, but it does enough to honour the original, while going out on its own. Ultimately, the fight for respect faced by Adonis "Donnie" Creed is a similar one faced by the film as a whole. Fortunately, it is entirely successful in forging its own legacy thanks to the fantastic direction from Ryan Coogler (I would be hard pressed to name a better new director right now) and phenomenal performances from Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone. Overall, Creed is a great film on its own, but an absolutely phenomenal boxing film.

It's a really good and entertaining film, but it is slow at times. Creed is a very violent PG-13 film, but it's also romantic and touching at times. Sylvester Stallone was amazing in this film, but the true heart of the film was Michael B. Jordan. He did really well acting and the film wouldn't have gone anywhere without him. It's very well directed as well, although a bit long. Overall, I enjoyed this pretty much the same as Southpaw. (81/100)

I did not love this movie, but I definitely thought it was well worth watching. I thought the boxing scenes were great, I thought the performances from Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone was great, I thought a lot of it was great. On the other hand, at times the actors were hard to understand, and the villain of this movie was nowhere near as good as the other Rocky villains. Nonetheless, still a good movie.

Creed continues the Rocky Bakboa's saga with technological instruments, "modern" story-telling and a grand new plot, that doesn't work completely with the originals. Anyway, it has the same thriller, action and love of the predesesors, despite the many differences that shows and kills the main original idea.

I'm old so I saw "Rocky" in the theater when it first played. For those who are young, "Creed" pretty much followed the same story line. Let's see, girlfriend has a problem, check. Fighter gets turned down by his trainer, check. One fighter gets injured for the big fight and Rocky/Creed steps in, check. I expected an original story so this gets down rated a couple of notches for that. Otherwise, if this is your first "Rocky" movie, you'll enjoy it as much as I did "Rocky."

Sly does it again! A great tale, a well made movie, and a much needed change of pace from some of the other crap coming out of Hollywood. The fight scenes are terrific. I thought the shot following Creed and Rocky out to the ring from the locker room was a great touch to build the anticipation. As always, life lessons to be taken away from this Rocky movie.

Being a longtime Rocky fan I was eagerly waiting to see this film. I thought the spin off approach was a good way to get back into the Rocky universe without having to see Sylvester Stallone trod through another fight as the titular Balboa, however the nostalgia cannot carry one through this long, slow and dare I say "boring" film. The acting from all involved is not great, not bad. The performance from Michael B. Jordan was solid as you could see his transformation into a somewhat believable boxer, but the slow pace of the movie and *SPOILER* the slow final fight, could not retain my attention. When the movie did start hitting its stride, it would immediately cut away to another slow, exposition filled scene that didn't really move the film forward. Disappointing to say the least, taking the audience out of any momentum they had gathered. All in all, an OK movie worth watching if you are a Rocky fan, but don't expect the type of emotion and entertainment of its predecessors.
