Chaos Walking is, as with any pop confection, catchy and has a solid beat, it’s just a shame that this tune is all too familiar.

Too frequently and too loudly, the sci-fi bells and whistles of Chaos Walking overwhelm its quieter, more engrossing elements, making it hard to hear what the film really seems to be saying.

Can't belive that idiots left low ratings. Watched it just for curiosity, and it ended up with a pretty good plot.

It’s a movie that’s been in the oven forever yet still comes out feeling half baked. Still, it’s hard not to sense the kernel of something good here. Chaos Walking is a bit like a house with “good bones.” The framework for something beautiful is there, but you’ll have to squint to see it amidst the cracked windows and trash-strewn lawn.

Despite its strange conceit and a few buried hints as to what a more courageous film might have done with it, the movie version of the first Chaos Walking book (published as “The Knife of Never Letting Go”) is such a dull and ordinary thing that it can’t help but get engulfed by the shadow of its own missed potential.

Other than a few inventive sequences around the film’s central conceit of “the Noise,” Chaos Walking is a grim retread of the YA dystopian story that offers nothing else but a misguided attempt to elevate the genre through a darker, more “adult” tone. It ends up being little more than a joyless exercise with bad wigs.

There’s no shortage of imaginative sci-fi details or of talented actors on-hand, but the film boils down to characters we barely get to know chasing each other and yelling. That it hardly matters who’s being chased or what, exactly, is being yelled — mostly “Stop her!” and “AAAUUUGGGHHH!” — is just part of the trouble here.

Chaos Walking doesn’t even get to the level of high camp, where pleasure is found in the sheer badness of it all.

Awesome! I thought it was very different then any other film but in a good way. Hoping for another!

Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley were the movie's attraction for me, thus I was drawn in. Charm, though, was unable to win the day in this situation. The narrative is dull. The settings are lovely. Apparently, the movie doesn't follow the novels at all. The entire project lacked depth. The strength of the casting decisions and performance will account for the majority of my assessment.

The premise sounds interesting, but in fact turned out to be annoying and distracting. To be honest, it took me most of the movie to get the hang of hearing the words and picking out the images in the "chaos". And even then, I missed much of it. I have some hearing loss and extremely loud tinnitus.

It was an interesting movie, with a unique take on visualizing thought. It had some strong actors in it, but the unrelenting feminist nods made this film feel more like an liberal arts film-making case study rather than a film. Seriously, hollywood, just make good movies. Stop with the ideological crap.
