Ich habe gerade diesen Film gesehen und er hat mir gefallen. Ich hatte diesen Film schon ziemlich oft in Clips, Shorts auf YouTube und TikTok gesehen und hatte immer Lust, ihn mir anzuschauen. Um ehrlich zu sein, wusste ich vorher nicht, dass der Film auf wahren Begebenheiten basiert/beruht – erst nach dem Ende ist mir das klar geworden. Was soll ich sagen? Für alle, die Kriegsfilme mögen, ist das hier ein absoluter Volltreffer. Der Film ist wirklich gut gemacht. Die Szenen im Irak, die Schießereien – alles ist sehr präzise und intensiv umgesetzt. Es gibt Momente, in denen die Spannung ihren Höhepunkt erreicht und man wirklich nicht weiß, ob der Charakter überlebt oder nicht. Die schauspielerische Leistung von Bradley Cooper war auch auf sehr hohem Niveau. Der Film hat all meine Erwartungen erfüllt. Als reiner Kriegsfilm würde ich ihm eine Neun geben. Zusätzlich gibt ihm der Fakt, dass er auf wahren Begebenheiten basiert, nochmal extra Punkte. Die schauspielerische Leistung und die Erzählweise waren ebenfalls sehr stark. Auf der anderen Seite ist der Film ziemlich schwer und anspruchsvoll – man muss sich wirklich von Anfang bis Ende voll konzentrieren. Ich würde ihm insgesamt eine Sieben geben.

A generic run of the mill film with some half decent direction. The acting is ok, though nothing special, and the settings are decent enough. The story comes across as a recruitment drive for the USA seals! It would have been good to understand why he ended up the way he did, as opposed to just a one liner sentence at the end. I'd watch it again maybe, but not for a very long time.

Looking for a docudrama filled with tension and tragedy, American Sniper might be your dose of Freedom. It tells the sad story of Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle and the events that led to his fame and **** 2026, American Sniper is a no-brainer for people looking for dramatization of war events, so I believe there is not much more to talk about here. I will focus on if it holds on or **** starters, it is a tension-filled, slow-ridden drama focusing on the **** experiences of war. If you like action-pumped war movies, skip this one. Then again, even this powerful-filled adaptation might miss feel a bit shallow, think of it like the best (and worst) moments of Mr. Kyle.A great experience if heavy dramas are your jam.

Well done action sequences, basic plot (a series of military missions). Enjoyable film

The sense of dread in EVERY scene in this movie is incredible.. a horrifying watch (in the best way you can put it.) Cinematography: 6/10, Doesn't do anything special at all, but still good enough to follow along with most of the story. Story: 8/10, it's a true story, so there aren't many areas for change, and seems to do the man justice. Writing: 6/10, Sometimes the writing can be very unnatural, but sometimes it can be very well put. Acting: 7/10 Taya's actor did incredible for the WHOLE movie, brought this up a whole number grade. Set Design: 9/10. Rarely EVER a bland set.

Chris Kyle, sniper extraordinaire and lightning rod for many reasons (some of which are entirely of his own creation), gets the up-close treatment in an appropriately controversial film. Much of the popular criticism centers around Kyle's casual, almost matter-of-fact tone about the inevitability of American military involvement in Iraq and a simplistic, one-dimensional perspective on the native combatants. From what I gather, much of that was toned down from his autobiography, on which this was based, and on the screen it's somewhat more excusable. In an industry that's already seen the likes of Rambo and Commando, it's hardly the first to commit that sin, though it does remove us a bit from reality and make the production's more grounded, thoughtful aspects a bit tougher to swallow. American Sniper's battle scenes are a major strength, intense and morally-exhausting, but occasionally they drift into idol worship and stretch to assure the audience that his strikes are justified. Kyle's descent from suave, charismatic bar-denizen to haunted, self-righteous battlefield legend is a difficult but effective journey, well-managed by Bradley Cooper in the leading role. The frequent hints and nudges about his struggles with PTSD on the homefront are nicely done, too, right up until the closing moments when the film spontaneously lurches into a tacky fairy-tale ending that felt so jarring and undeserved, I wondered if it might be a dream sequence. It's better than I feared it might be, but asks many more questions than it answers and quite often falls short of delivering on teased potential. As snapshots of a superstar's life behind the scope, and behind the battle lines, it works. As a finished thought on the man himself? Not quite.

An overlong, but well directed biopic that tells you nothing meaningful about its subject in any way.

Film really full of patriotism, sentimentality and Americanism. One of Eastwood's worst films along with Million Dollar Baby and Flags of our father.

The real reason this movie resonates with us is because of its core philosophical theme. At the beginning of the film, Chris Kyle's father talks of three kinds of personalities children might grow to adopt in this world- (1) the ones who commit a societal injustice, like Wolves (2) the ones who never speak out against it fearing retaliation, like Sheep (3) the ones who sacrifice and boldly fight for those who can't fight for themselves, like Sheepdogs. Quick glance, and we will always find ourselves picking the third as the best of them all. And we think we are justified in doing so- but real life grows out to be more complicated than what we might think. This is exactly what this incredible true story delves into. On the surface, the story plays out simply as a relentless patriotic soldier who is trying hard to fight a war in a foreign land to bring terrorists to justice. Despite the imminent risks involved, he is willing to sacrifice anything for the honor and glory of his country and to rescue his fellow soldiers. He doesn't care if this costs him in his personal life. This seems like a pretty noble pursuit. It earns him a military title- "LEGEND" along with loads of fame from his other colleagues. He even manages to rescue many dying soldiers on his way and reunites them with their loved ones. In short- he becomes a prized asset to the US army, a symbol of courage and hope amidst the devastating war. But as the film proceeds, the audience is made to realize the dark impact the war's unavoidable bloodshed has on Chris' soul and how it gradually affects his personality, subconsciously. This is shown by cleverly cross-cutting between his wars in Iraq and his family life back home, where his wife repeatedly persuades him to live the simple life of a family man. But deep down he hesitates letting go of his 'savior-mentality' and figures out reasons to justify his own actions to himself. He starts suffering from hypertension, which adversely impacts his temper and sabotages his personal relationships. The war's trauma prevents him from feeling the joy of being around his own wife and kids as he should. As Chris is pushed to his emotional breaking point towards the end of the film, we're put to a very deep personal conflict- "honor & glory" vs "family & love". And the film's ending scenes justifiably answer this strong dilemma by transforming Chris' character, and teaches us to value that which is actually important in life. Last, but not the least, the cinematography adopted for filming the sniper-shooting scenes is marvelous. It draws us into Chris' mind as he emotionally wrestles with the tough choices on battlefield that question his humanity and his loyalty to America. The exceptional score that plays along, emphasizes on these pivotal story beats making us feel through his pursuit.

Clint Eastwood's American Sniper is probably the best movie featuring the War on Terror that has been made. In it, our hero, Chris Kyle played by Bradley Cooper is presented as a young man growing up in Texas and we see that his girlfriend is cheating on him. Later, he meets his beautiful wife played by Sienna Miller in a bar. We see Chris Kyle react to the September 11th attacks and he enlists in the military to fight terrorists in the middle east. Kyle is deployed in Iraq and we see his escapades as the most deadly sniper in the U.S. military. Iraq had been listed as a State sponsor of terrorism by the U.S. since 1990, when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. Iraq had also been on the list from 1979 to 1982; it was removed so that the U.S. could provide material support to Iraq in its war with Iran. Hussein's regime had proven to be a problem for the UN and Iraq's neighbors due to its use of chemical weapons against Iranians and Kurds in the 1980s. The Iraq War began in March 2003 with an air campaign, which was immediately followed by a U.S.-led ground invasion. The Bush administration cited UNSC Resolution 1441, which warned of "serious consequences" for violations such as Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction. The Bush administration also stated the Iraq war was part of the War on Terror, as Saddam Hussein was a radical Sunni muslim, leader of the Baathist party who may have had ties to Al-Queda. The movie is gripping, and you're pulling for Kyle who is tough and gallant. One criticism I have of the movie is it doesn't show many airstrikes, it only features one in the entire movie, when I know we bombed the hell out of Iraq. But it wants to focus on the sniping on the ground so its acceptable. The movie can get pretty exciting and intense. There are some cool action sequences with American marines going up against terrorists. The movie does a good job depicting PTSD caused by the trauma of war, as Kyle has to deal with these problems after his exploits in the middle east. There is a well-directed scene at a barbeque where Kyle freaks out with a dog and it disturbs his wife. The movie ends tragically, as we are told Chris Kyle is killed by a mentally disturbed veteran he was trying to help. Overall, a good tribute to an American although controversial, was virtuous and a hero.

Not a bad movie but one of the more overrated movies of late and seriously not worthy of an Oscar nomination. A solid yet simplistic biopic.

American Sniper is one of my favorite movies ever, mainly because I love the military theme. Apart from the movies, I'm also a big fan of the Battlefield and Call of Duty game series, but now back to the movies. The American sniper has an excellent story about sniper Chris Kyle. The soundtrack is nice and the environment is absolutely excellent. I would recommend the film to fans of the army, but most fans of war films will probably find something for themselves here.

Há demasiados diálogos expositivos, e eu sei que aqui o proposito era fazer um filme pra todos, mas a obra chegou a um ponto de chamar o publico de burro nos explicando tudo. O senso antagônico criado pelo Sniper adversário é cringe e não funciona, assim como a passagem de tempo existente no filme. Ele passou anos e anos no Iraque, mas a sensação é que ele tá lá há uma semana. O roteiro falha em tentar cobrir toda a vida do atirador de elite, pois nada tem seu tempo de tela desenvolvido, e as coisas acabam se tornando uma bagunça. Ao invés de trazer uma leitura de personagem rica, aqui os produtores decidem trazer uma visão própria de quem foi o Chris Kyle, forçando conceitos a todo momento, falhando em desenvolvê-lo de maneira funcional, alienando os espectadores e enaltecendo uma imagem que os EUA insiste em passar pro mundo. Without making moral prejudices or denunciation against the war, the story of Chris Kyle US Navy SEAL, is told, and his efforts to balance his duties as husband, father and the best in his rank, during the war intervention in the Middle East. Something that is also appreciated is avoiding any tone of propaganda.Thank you, Mr. Eastwood.

The biggest problem of the movie is the annoying nationalism (no, it is not patriotism). Although there are some critical scenes in the movie, overall it is very one-sided and it is clear, who is holy and who is evil. This was disgusting, especially if you know the background of the war against Iraq: It is the other way round. This means, this movie is propaganda. In addition I would like this movie more, if they show us more about the psyche of the characters and for example, why the veteran shot him. But still there are some good sides of the movie: The development of the main character is interesting. The wide perspectives during the action are great, much better than fast edited scenes from the near. Some scenes are great, because you ask yourself, what would you do? pull the trigger?

This biographical film describes the military trajectory of Chris Kyle, a member of the SEAL's, the US Navy special operations unit, who was considered the most lethal sniper in American history. Over several service commissions in Iraq, he killed about 160 people, always in situations where he protected his own life or that of other American military personnel. Personally, I really liked the film, I think it made a faithful account of the most important events in the life of the person portrayed and used the original material well, present in Kyle's autobiography. It was expertly directed by Clint Eastwood, who was perfectly capable of recreating the dangerous environment of the war, as well as the facts of Kyle's life. Being a film about a soldier more than about war, Eastwood focuses on his character, the portrait he wants to make of a man of integrity, brave, eager to help and make a difference. Eastwood gives us more than enough material to create a strong link between the audience and the main character, and that gives strength and sustains the film until the end. Another thing that the film shows are the psychological wounds that Kyle is having due to the war, to the point of emotionally distancing himself from his family. The film reasonably balances the portrait of a today's "war hero" with the intimate account of the secret inner pains and complexes of a man who feels that he has seen evil in its purest form. Bradley Cooper was competent in the task of bringing Chris Kyle to life. As far as I was able to understand in the readings and research I do when I want to see a film I don't know, Cooper got to know Kyle and respected him a lot. It was certainly a project that he did with special commitment and affection, and this was reflected in the quality of his work. Technically, the film is flawless. Good special and sound effects, excellent sets, costumes and touches of authenticity in everything we can see. In addition to this, an excellent soundtrack.

This is a fairly moving and gripping war film with a very good performance by Bradley Cooper.

It was sad movie, but I guess, it was needed. I knew Kile from Jocko WIllik and his podcast. They worked together. Movie is done well, Bradly Cooper is great actor! What else can I say? It's a war/PTSD movie. Graphic...

The sick, repulsive, savagery of children used as weapons and tortured to death are some of the worst horrors witnessed by the American sniper. His biggest regret is a very simple one. Which he tries to amend at the ultimate cost. The American sniper didn't see himself as hero when people claimed him to be, but just a person doing what he had to do. Powerful gripping stuff that told a "soldiers story" like it was from boots on the ground. With all the strong bonds of brotherhood it invokes. Easy to crap on the movie for people who have never served or don't know anyone close who has served. Ignorance is bliss and I have read many a fool review here.

Une bonne réalisation, une histoire de guerre des musiques discrètes comme il le faut, mais un message que je n'ai pas trouvé clair cependant on passe un moment spécial pendant ce film.

One of the best movies I have ever seen. Top 10 for sure. Directed and acted with such perfection. It is a shame that it didn't win anything during awards season.

Telling the true story of American sniper Chris Kyle, AMERICAN SNIPER plods along through four very long tours of duty and tells a very good and action packed story i think that the actors work along side each other really well in the story line. the film is great for the family or when your with your friends of the night its just nice to crack open a little beverage and just sit back relax and enjoy the film with your friends or family. the film is filmed produced and edited to a very high and professional standard.

I was hoping this film would focus on the morally doubtful decisions made in warfare, and the way soldiers cope with this stress post-war. Why? Because all the posters have a feeling of satire: big murican flags, big guns, brave soldiers. Unfortunately for me, that wasn't exactly satire and the whole film is full of American propaganda: Murica good, Iraqees evil. Shame on you, Eastwood.

Bradley Cooper gave a great performance but in the end this is films is just an exaltation of the US army and the war machine. Or in simple words: Propaganda.

The movie could be just ok, but the characters don´t mean anything to you. What I want to say is that i didn´t care for any of this characters, I was more interested in the photography and scenarios, the characters may die or not and to me will be like nothing happened. The story is not as good to be a movie of 2 hours and 12 minutes. It´s strange to think that this movie was nomitaded at the oscars for best picture, maybe the voters just felt the "american proud ,powerful and invencible" fever that is present in the entire movie

A well-made, believable Iraq War movie, with another fine performance by Cooper. However, I think they screwed up by not showing the way Chris Kyle died. It may have been horrible but so was much of the violence in the film, and it certainly was a big part of his story.

Superbly done. Bradley Cooper brilliantly captures the emotions and psyche of a soldier affected by the moral and ethical complexities of war. To the negative reviewers: We might not like the realities of what's behind this story, but these soldiers are the only reason we have the freedom to sit home in our comfortable, safe little houses, and criticize their actions. And those same critics presume to have all the answers as to how the soldiers should feel, think, and act in these situations; as if they have battle experience and understand first-hand the psychological effects of having to kill with the end goal of saving lives.

What works in American Sniper is that it's more than your average war movie. The action is still there in brutal and exciting form. Standing beside that action and ultimately eclipsing is the true story of American sniper Chris Kyle. We get to actually know him, or at least enough about him to make us care. As a result there is a heart and soul to the movie to keep things going. Seeing the effects the war has on Chris Kyle's life, particularly his mind are compelling and emotional. American Sniper hits on familiar beats we've seen time and time again in war movies. PTSD, soldier talk, and the problems faced back home aren't new themes to the genre. However, that doesn't make them any less potent here. Thanks to strong direction and great central performance from Bradley Cooper, American Sniper has some real weight to it.

Pretty good movie I love how this movie gets you to like the charters and care about. I now that a lot of people hate this movie ( that is fine) but just because it takes place in the Iraq war does mean this movie is propaganda. I'm a liberal and I actually enjoyed this movie. I know that seems like a glowing contradiction because liberals aren't supposed to like things like this but I like to think I consider myself impartial when it comes to movies. The movie is masterfully directed by Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper does an amazing job as Chris Kyle but with that being said, American Sniper was as close as you can get to being right-wing propaganda. The first thing it does as portray the Iraqis as the bad guys who are responsible for 9/11 despite them having nothing to do with 9/11. The 2nd thing this movie does wrong is paint Chris Kyle as a conflicted soldier, where if you read his book he actually was not very remorseful about the people he killed. I mean lets be real here, Chris Kyle was an absolutely terrible person. I'll go even as far to say he was a psychopath, he said it himself that he loved killing and that he would kill anyone with a kuron which is what basically everyone wears over there. Kyle was no hero, he was a monster, a repulsive and sick man who was a pathological liar that forged his military accomplishments and kill count to sell books. He was also, however like many soldiers in the middle east were taken advantage of by Bush/Cheney's quest for "WMD"s aka oil.

I like Clint Eastwood movies, but it was his best as a director even better than Million Dollar Baby and Mystic River. I wish he were younger to produce more masterpieces.

Clint Eastwood just continues to make relevant, artful movies that have an edge while also having a touching connection. this is a gripping story about patriotism, personal conflict and the reality of not just war in general but the ongoing struggle between Good and Evil

Fantastic movie that you should watch NOW!!!! from the acting to the explosions to the dialogue it's all great, I think it portrays well what Navy seals have to go through, and the impact on their mind when they go home. Truly a beautiful movie.

What it's like to be a soldier in a modern war? What is the price of military glory? For those, who want answers to these questions, two ways are opened - direct experience or experience mediated by the art of cinema. The more talented movie makers, the more authentic experience they can mediate through their art to public. The "American Sniper" is exactly such kind of art. Bradley Cooper is as convincing as an actor can be. You don't feel him acting, you just see person, which Cooper impersonates before you. You see his emotions, deeply hidden, but glimpsing from the depth. And there are choices, Kyle made. Choices, about which we, civilians, even don't want to think about. We are mostly living in imaginary world, hiding from horrors of reality. Well, soldiers can't hide from it - they must face it or they'll die. They must make choices, horrible, inhuman in terms of civilized behaviour. And many of them became broken, actually losing their humanity in the process. The phrases, Chris said - about common people, behaving as usual like there is no war there; that he can't allow himself to be home, while others are still fighting; about military brotherhood - all of them are so recognizable. That's exactly same words, which you can hear from Ukrainian soldiers here. Even dehumanization of enemies (calling them "savages", etc.) is understandable - otherwise it would be hard to justify to yourself terrible things you are doing (there is ingenious episode in the George Orwell's "Looking back on the Spanish War" where he recalls that he refrained from shooting at "Fascist" partly because of a small detail, which humanized his foe:"I had come here to shoot at "Fascists"; but a man who is holding up his trousers isn't a "Fascist", he is visibly a fellow-creature, similar to yourself, and you don't feel like shooting at him"). This reality they meet, these choices they made - all of it bring soldiers farther and farther into the web of war. And nobody comes back from war unscathed. You can't just go home from war - it will follow you. The things, you've seen, the choices, you've made - they will haunt you wherever you are. If this movie will help others to realize what sacrifices soldiers are really making out there - behind the borders of usual life - what price they are paying, then cinema art is worth its invention. Wonderful movie from Clint Eastwood - 8 out of 10.

it was so sad and to violent for younger viewers like babies and little kids the kids should never see this movie until they are older and are teens or adults.

While Bradley Cooper delivers a great performance by portraying Chris Kyle, Clint Eastwood does not explore the dark side of Chris Kyle and points Kyle as just an American hero.

The only thing wrong with this movie was the obviously fake baby used during the one scene. Bradley Cooper blew me away with his performance as the "Legend" Chris Kyle. Came into this movie without a real understanding of the incident that happened in 2013. Informative, saddening.

Very well acted by Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller but, that being said, I didn't like the feeling of political propaganda that I felt from director Clint Eastwood. This film is quite overrated and I really don't like American war films as they tend to glorify war.
