Austin Butler is really great as Elvis Presley both in presentation and execution. This film felt like a great mix of Moulin Rouge and Bohemian Rhapsody as Baz Luhrmann brings his unique and divisive style back to the big screen in his first film since 2013's Great Gatsby.

The Last Duel8
Apr 29, 2022
Last years epic from Ridley Scott with a screenplay by Ben Affleck and bff Matt Damon isn't quite Gladiator. It's still very good. Great performances from Adam Driver and Jodie Comer with strong (but slow) storytelling, it's a very good film that's well worth a watch!

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent8
Apr 29, 2022
This buddy-action meta comedy was cheesy in all the right ways. Nic Cage and Pedro Pascal carry the brunt of this film with the majority of the laughs coming from them being around each-other. I really hope they do more projects together because they have amazing chemistry and the comedy seemed so natural when they were together. All in all, "Massive Talent" is a ton of fun with great moments and many wild Nic Cage easter eggs.

Andrew Garfield is a blast. I've been a huge fan of his since he was Spider-Man and he puts on an absolute show here. I've never been a fan of musicals and my knowledge of Jonathan's story prior to watching this film was very minimal but this is a fantastic film about his life and early struggles before ****. There is also a wonderful story about never giving up on your dreams. It's a touching story thats spirited and emotionally-driven and it's a fantastic film debut for Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The Bubble1
Apr 29, 2022
Easily Apatow's worst film. It's a comedy thats almost insufferably unfunny and at over 2 hours, its a dread to have to get through. The cast is fine, they try to make their best of bad material but this is clearly one of those "Covid movies" that was dumped onto Netflix for the sake of content.

The Batman9
Mar 4, 2022
A very good movie. Its a bit different in terms of the character meaning as this Batman seems a bit more practical than the others. He mostly relies on self-made tech and gadgets and feels like a more grounded and realistic version of the character. The casting and overall plot of the film is very good with Reeves taking alot of inspiration from David Fincher's Zodiac. The casting is also extremely well done with Zoe Kravitz, Colin Ferrell, Paul Dano and Jeffrey Write being the standouts.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife8
Feb 1, 2022
At it's core, this is a film about family, finding yourself and forgiveness. That alone hooked me when I left the theater, yes there are callbacks to the original films and fan service but here the fan service isn't making up for a crappy or pointless story. Im no super-fan of the Ghostbusters films but I really enjoyed this film. From the direction, to the use of practical effects, to the casting and performances. Reitman really gave all for this project and I definitely recommend seeing this film.

Hollywoodland8
Feb 1, 2022
This film looks and feels like old Hollywood. Hollywoodland is a compelling (at times) neo-noir film that investigates the mysterious death and complicated life of 1950s Icon George Reeves. If nothing else, it provides a look at the seedier side of the bright lights and stars of Hollywood. Its an underrated film that i really feel gets looked over as far as noir driven mysteries go. I definitely recommend giving this film a shot!

Very good film. Riz Ahmed gives an amazing and noteworthy performance and continues to prove himself as an underrated actor. When Ruben begins to lose his hearing, you feel for him with a fantastic supporting cast around him. This is a real and authentic film and I liked it alot.

Jul 26, 2021
I've read alot of opinions on this film. I thought it was original, creepy and I liked it. The dialogue is laughable at times and it could have been executed better at certain points BUT when it gets going, it keeps coming at you. I'd recommend seeing it (when you can)

For starters, I love Kate Beckinsale. She plays a really physical role here and kicks a whole lot of ass in this movie. Shes entertaining as hell here and makes a predictable and run-of-the-mill premise entertaining.

Awake2
Jun 29, 2021
A clear attempt to cash in on the success of The Quiet Place, Awake is poorly thought out and shallow making it somehow worse than Bird Box.
Jun 29, 2021
Army of the Dead7
Jun 29, 2021
Snyder is clearly in his wheelhouse here, making dumb fun movies that know they're dumb instead of making movies that are fun and dumb but think they're something more. Its mindless fun with surprisingly good performances despite shallow characters.

City of Lies7
Jun 29, 2021
Based on the investigation on the murder of LEGENDARY rapper Notorious B.I.G, City of Lies goes over alot of stuff that we already know but this was a strong film that was, unfortunately lost due to the controversy surrounding Johnny Depp. In terms of answers, it points alot of fingers and connects alot of interesting dots. Nonetheless Its a solid film with good performances and solid direction. Who shot Biggie? The world may never know.

A Rainy Day in New York3
Jun 28, 2021
I love Selena Gomez, she's the only one here that gives a good performance even though she's not given a ton of screentime. This is basically the Wish version of Midnight In Paris

Free State of Jones5
Jun 28, 2021
Free State of Jones is a period piece that has its moments but doesn't quite pack a punch. This isn't to say that it was a bad film, parts of it were entertaining but the screenplay is so muddled that it presents alot of missed opportunities. Might be worth a watch to some

An action/adventure film with little action/adventure and a comedy thats not very funny. Melissa McCarthy needs to find herself a new husband!

Those Who Wish Me Dead7
Jun 28, 2021
Its not Wind River or Hell or High Water but its a nice throwback to some of those natural disaster movies from the 90s. It shows Sheridan's continued talent as a director and is a perfectly solid vehicle for Angelina Jolie.
Jun 28, 2021
Judas and the Black Messiah9
Jun 28, 2021
This film is getting alot of buzz for awards season and rightfully so, this is was a very good film with knock out performances especially from Kaluuya and LaKeith Stanfield. The story itself is devastating and you get accounts from both sides of the coin. Its a truly devastating film and definitely worth a watch.

Mar 26, 2021
Geostorm3
Mar 26, 2021
Interesting premise with a fine cast but poorly executed. This film was pretty much Armageddon and The Day After Tomorrow with made-for-TV special effects and overly complicated storytelling making it not nearly as fun or thrilling as the two. I like Day After Tomorrow and if you don't, kindly **** off.
Mar 18, 2021
Zack Snyder's Justice League8
Mar 18, 2021
A much better film. While i actually enjoyed the "Whedon Cut" upon release, this film feels alot more complete, cohesive and character driven. On the downside, it is hurt by several "Synder-isms" but its a much better film than the one released a few years ago.

Togo9
Feb 19, 2021
"Togo" is a sincere, intense and truly moving story. Dafoe's incredible and his bond with Togo felt real and genuine. All in all, this was a heartfelt and truly unforgettable film about an unsung hero deserving of more recognition.

Feb 8, 2021
Malcolm & Marie5
Feb 8, 2021
If anything, "Malcolm and Marie" displays the complexities of a relationship and the razor thin line between love and hate. The acting is phenomenal, especially considering they filmed this during the pandemic and like I said, it shows the complexities that come with a relationship beautifully. The problem with this film is, thats it. There's really nowhere else for the story to go. Its not a bad film, the performances, cinematography and dialogue alone make this film watchable but I doubt I'd watch this film again.

The Little Things7
Jan 30, 2021
Great cast and a good film up until the last 15 minutes or so. The script was written in 1993 and you can certainly tell as it feels dated and could have been better with further polish. On a positive note, up until the ending, the film is incredibly similar to that of David Fincher's Se7en. Its atmospheric, dark and psychological with thrilling moments to be had. Its a film thats definitely a good time but has its obvious flaws and draw backs.

Jan 29, 2021
The Lodge7
Jan 29, 2021
Relatively good film. The Lodge is relatively similar to films like Hereditary, It Follows and Babadook that are light on gimmicks and more focused on storytelling. The film is a little slow, but if you like films like that. This film is for you

The Midnight Sky5
Jan 5, 2021
This film was underwhelming to say the least. Visually, it looked great and it was acted great (Clooney was incredible here) and directed great but the screenplay was messy, predictable and almost pointless.

Alien: Resurrection5
Dec 31, 2020
So ALOT of people hate this film, I've noticed. Ive seen alot of people on YouTube completely annihilate this movie in some overly hilarious reviews. Its campy, over-the-top and almost a complete separation in terms of style from the first 2 entries. Much like Alien 3, all the characters are body bags to be killed so they're not memorable. The gore is over-the-top and some of the performances are comically bad (Brad Dourif). Sigourney Weaver is fantastic as always but this film's biggest issue seems to be an apparent clash of styles between Joss Whedon's script and the direction. Of course, Whedon says it wasn't his fault but has anyone noticed whenever something goes bad and Whedon is involved he blames everyone but himself? Basically Alien Resurrection isn't a great film. Its not as bad as people make it out to be but its not that great either or even good enough to be "okay." Its just kind of there.

Dec 28, 2020
Alien 35
Dec 28, 2020
This is a fairly controversial and much maligned entry in the franchise. Im going to post ratings for BOTH the theatrical version AND the assembly cut. The Theatrical version is a tough watch, its not as bad as people say it is. Sigourney Weaver is fantastic and so is Charles Dutton and it presents alot of interesting ideas such as grief, loss, redemption and sacrifice despite the characters being unlikable. Its a middle of the road sequel that lacks narrative focus, suspense even thought it did some nice things to make it appear not bad. Its easily the most forgettable of the franchise.
