A Quiet Place: Day One là tiền truyện giàu cảm xúc, nhưng thiếu cao trào hành động nên thiên về nhân văn hơn kinh dị.

In one word : what the heck did I just watch? Actors had zero charisma. Dialogues when they happen were plaaain and the casting is weak.

A mediocre film. It feels more like a random story from the universe than a new part of the film. I liked the quality of the filming and the acting of the main characters.

It's not very good and I say that as a big fan of the first 2 A Quiet Place films. It takes a very cheap approach to horror, most people don't like watching pets being in peril, you can see this as if you type in A Quiet Place: Day One in google, one of the top 5 searches is "does the cat die". It's not scary just uncomfortable to watch. So you don't get a well thought out horror film, just a horror film that relies on putting a cat in peril. It also doesn't tell us anything new about the monsters. If you've seen the trailer with meteors hitting the planet then you've already seen everything new to do with them

Gorgeous movie visually, really nailed that aspect of the experience. The film just runs out of steam half way through unfortunately.

A nice intense start, but after a while the plot fell apart. One thing i couldn't understand: When the aliens hear noises, they come rushing out. So, why not just line up some machine guns, make some noise, watch all the aliens come rushing out, and then just blast the mfers. How hard would that be? Also, damned near everyone in America has a gun, right. But there is a scene with thousands of people walking the street, yet not ONE of them had a gun. That's impossible. Lastly, how could highly intelligent life travel hundreds of light years to get to a planet made up of 70% water, yet none of them know how to swim or have devices that allows them to survive under water? That's illogical. this film had a lot of potential, but they blew it.

How do you make a film without children? Are you afraid of showing children dying? They need to be more realistic with their proposals.

A bit too focused on the sentimental elements, slowing down the plot in an otherwise decent entry to the series. Lupita is great, as usual, along with the rest of the cast. But the attempts at emotionality does somewhat hinder the story itself, making the stakes slump, which dulls the suspense.

After the excellent of parts 1 and 2, it was inevitable that a 3rd part set at the beginning of the crisis would be made. I am happy they **** this installment, we take a far more poignant, emotional, and philosophical journey into a brilliant young poet's mind, her wish to revisit her precious memories in the face of a collapsing world, and her own impediments. The creatures are shown in far more devastating detail, and a little more of their motives and mechanisms are revealed. There is a breathtaking rush of terror across the movie scenes and cityscape. The movie is sad and poignant, about a desire to return to roots and to sacrifice for survival. Joseph Quinn and Lupita N’yongo play their roles brilliantly, giving each other support and courage selflessly. I watched this moving horror drama twice, and it was better the second time around.

Absolutely would not watch this movie again. Not only because of it's confusing and complex nature, despite failure to provide info on the two main characters. Overall, the movie has SO much potential. For example, adding more context and info during the movie for the watcher to understand who the the main characters are. But this is my opinion, it's okay if you don't agree with me!

Sometimes prequels only ruin the mystery of a franchise and I'm afraid this is one of those times. While it had great tension and chilling moments, It left me asking more questions than it answered.

The Atmos track was amazing. But about the plot... what was the story exactly? I mean, I understand the premise, but what was it trying to tell? I spent most of the time thinking about this.

Cinematography, visual and practical effects, casting and production value/quality are all very good. The sci fi end of the world genre is over saturated so its tough to stand out against the competition. Most of the story is told through actions rather than words with minimal dialogue thanks to the premise of alien creatures that attack based on sensitivity to sound. The story told here just wasn't as compelling as others in this genre. Its no WWZ or cloverfield. But if youre in the mood, this will entertain you.

Visually, it was well done…somewhat. I didn’t much care for all the closeup shots. It was lots of stunned faces just gazing and staring. The lack of dialogue didn’t help this already “snoozy” picture either. I thought it was rather boring.

This movie is really really boring, the trailer looks very interesting but once the movie starts I noticed that it had a very thin storyline, it is basically two persons and a cat running a round in New York without any real plan, one of them are tired of living the other one don't really have a plan. In the middle of the movie I actually feel a sleep a while and once I wake up I could follow the rest of the movie without any problem. I feel they just made this movie to make some cash on a blockbuster, it is really sad to see how they ruined a good storyline with this piece of horse ****. No need to watch this movie you won't miss anything.

Technically a decent movie but it just doesn't have much to offer viewers. It employs cheap jump scares, we're already familar with the monsters and their weaknesses and the characters aren't hugely compelling either. Instead, you get a series of the same "don't make a sound" set pieces that really don't offer anything new. Don't feel bad about skipping this one.

Overall, I felt the premise of showing the initial invasion was done better in previous entries. Which makes me wonder what the point of the film is? What are they trying to say? The film is carried by characters however they’re a bit flat. The acting was good, the visuals were great, and the film is competent, but again it has nothing new to say. It felt a bit bland and uneventful for what should be a very chaotic experience.

Genuinely done with this franchise, what a boring, predictable, paint by numbers piece of crap this is Zzzz The un-originality is actually something to behold. The only redeeming feature is Djimon Honsou Avoid P.s. how has no one died from ripping a fart in their sleep in this?, and were people with sleep apnea the first to go?… Something to ponder for a future addition to the franchise no doubt.

Besides CGI and the tension at the start of the movie, everything else is damn boring and disappointing comparing it to the original and especially the second one.- bland characters- stupid romance - even stupider plot - monster show up > hide > someone die > run > repeat (this basically what most the movie)- people are stupid and keep making nice and calling out even though they know they shouldn't!!- terrible endingI can't with good conscience recommend this snoozefest movie just stay away from it, it's not worth your time.

If you are looking for a movie that you can sleep through without feeling guilty, then this one is perfect for you.Boring without end, Sam is such a boring main character that it's almost unbearable. The cat doesn't exactly help to make the movie any better. Just boring.

Where it all began, the invasion of those super hearing aliens land in the Big Apple wreacking havoc on mankind. A young woman, Samira (Lupita Nyong'o and her cat, Frodo find themselves trapped trying to escape from the aliens with the help of Eric (Joseph Quinn). Directed and co-written by Michael Sarnoski. Others writers were John Krasinski and Bryan Woods. Other cast members include Alex Wolff (Reuben), Djimon Hounsou (Henri) Eliane Umuhire (Zena). Going into this film I was concerned as often the longer a film series goes the quality drops. I am happy to report not in this case at all. I actually feel it's even better than the 2nd film in this series A Quiet Place 2. It contains plenty of tense moments and jump out of your seat scares. The acting is quite good as you would expect and the story is well written. You will definitely want to check this one out and bring some extra money for spilled popcorn.

As a big fan of the 'Quiet Place' franchise I was excited to see 'A Quiet Place: Day One'.SYNOPSIS: 'A young woman named Sam finds herself trapped in New York City during the early stages of an invasion by alien creatures with ultra-sensitive hearing.'Like a lot of the franchises I'm really invested into this film takes it's own franchise in a direction I really wanted to see it go. What happens when this invasion takes place somewhere else? And here we go.This is a film where most of the violence takes out of our sight even though the set is abundantly there. There’s expectations of it, and that’s even more chilling because you don't know what's coming **** this universe noise is death and quiet is life. Could there be a better metaphor for the dynamics of our digital age?The film's far from perfect and there are holes in the story for me but it's minor stuff I can let **** film packs a punch but fails to reach the tension, horror and emotion depths of the first film.A decent addition to the franchise. Where next? 7/10

A Quiet Place: Day One is a solid prequel giving us another emotional and touching story within this universe. While as a prequel it doesn't really give us more lore or depth to the situation, Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn give us great performances that you don't want to look away from.A big shout-out to Frodo for being the bestest cat too.

Although a decent film in its own way, it's not as good as the previous two films, mainly because I didn't buy into the characters as much as I did with Millicent Simmonds. That said, the acting is decent enough, and the jump scares and general CGI continue to be good. Though I thought that much more could have been done to develop the back story of the aliens. Pretty good all the same.

What a **** expectation for a film with great and enormous potential that was completely wasted, with characters that don't even make the same mention of History. I still don't know how this can be successful

Going into this film I thought it was going to be an origin story. Where did these creatures come from? What did they want? None of those questions were answered. The main actress did a great job but the story was boring. It wasn’t until the end credits that I noticed John Krasinski was not the director. Very disappointing film.

As with most horror movie franchises each sequel certainly yields diminishing returns, but the premise still makes for a tense watch and the ever dependable Lupita Nyong'o helps lend the plot an emotional weight it otherwise may not have had.

Overall, the movie was satisfactory. The action in the movie was great and the story was pretty good for the most part. I gave it a 7 because it was a decent movie with decent action and a decent story, but it was not as good as the first two movies. Although it is not my favorite movie, it acts as an adequate prequel.

If considered as a spin-off from the A Quiet Place series, this film stands out with excellent performances and finely detailed character emotions. However, as a prequel that shoulders the legacy of its predecessors and focuses on the origin story, it falls short, lacking scope and feeling somewhat inconsequential.

And the Oscar for best performance from a cat in a motion picture goes to Frodo the cat in A Quiet Place: Day One. The “death angels” (yes that’s what they’re really called, I didn’t make it up) are back. Only this time we’re seeing the invasion from where it all began. Day one in New York City which according to the movie, reaches noise levels of around 90 decibels which is the equivalent to a constant scream. While other alien invasion movies have the aliens inevitably arriving straight to New York for some reason, as if there’s a giant tourist office in space that lets all the aliens travelling to earth know that yes New York is the place to be. But in A Quiet Place: Day One the aliens that hunt purely by sound are of course going to be attracted to the noisy city. Instant panic sets in and as the population realises how the monsters hunt, an eerie silence descends upon the city as the fight for survival begins. Sam (Lupita Nyong’O) finds herself on a rare trip to New York City during the initial invasion by the aliens. Talk about bad timing. But also in the wrong place at the wrong time is Eric (Joseph Quinn) and together they must stay as quiet as possible in order to survive the monsters that hunt by ultra-sensitive hearing. Day One may not be quiet as terrifying as A Quiet Place or A Quiet Place Part II but it’s another sequel to a franchise that will delight horror fans. It’ll keep you on the edge of your seat and holding your breath. Director Michael Sarnoski has taken over from John Krasinski and he definitely brings an emotional depth that I really wasn’t expecting. He’s probably most well-known for directing Pig in 2021, definitely recommended for anyone that missed it. The story has much more to it than what could have been a simple alien invasion movie. The trailer rightly held back some of these details and it’s interesting to see the characters motivations throughout the story. The standout feature of A Quiet Place: Day One is without a doubt Lupita Nyong’O. She expresses so much without saying a word. Her performance along with the emotional storyline is what elevates the entire film and puts it above the majority of other monster/alien movies. Cinema fans may have some difficulty with certain movie goers for this film, let’s just say if you’re ordering nachos for A Quiet Place: Day One it would be better for everyone if you stay at home and wait for the DVD. Highly recommended for horror fans and essential viewing for fans of the first two A Quiet Place movies.

IN A NUTSHELL: The story is about a terminally-ill woman named Sam who finds herself trapped in New York City during the early stages of an invasion by alien creatures with ultra-sensitive hearing. John Krasinski wrote and directed the first two movies in this franchise. This time, Michael Sarnoski directs the movie with writing help by John Krasinski and Bryan Woods. My expectations were VERY high for this one because I loved the first two films in the franchise so much. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed and even bored at times. I hope John Krasinski and Emily Blunt will be more involved in the next one…if there is another one. Rumor has it that he had written a long story sequence when he first came up with the original idea. He is soooo doggone talented and seems like such a nice guy in real life! TIPS FOR PARENTS: We see massive destruction in New York City. We see some images that are reminiscent of 911, so consider that fair warning in case you might be triggered by that. Some profanity People are in dangerous situations Scary aliens attack people THINGS I LIKED: The cast includes award winners like Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and Djimon Housou. We see Djimon Housou in A Quiet Place 2! As expected, the sound design is very good. Cute cat with interesting markings! The cat’s name is Frodo and her owner is Sam (Samantha). As a huge Lord of the Rings fan, I got a kick out of that. Yeah, sometimes I’m that obsessed with pizza too, but New York style is not my favorite. I’m more of a Chicago deep dish girl. Some of the CGI is extremely good. One thing about this movie and the other two in the franchise is that it makes you really aware of the sounds you make while watching the film! There are some jumps and scares that will get ya! THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE: We don’t really get to know the main characters very much before all of the aliens attack and everything goes crazy, so we don’t feel connected to them for quite a while. It started feeling like a Cloverfield movie in the beginning because we don’t really get to see the aliens up close for a long time. We have to wait 53 minutes before we see one close-up. I was hoping for some bigger insights into who they were and why they came to earth, but we don’t get much new information. While A Quiet Place 2 added to the story and our understanding of the aliens, this new feature doesn’t give us anything groundbreaking. Shouldn’t there be a LOT more people wandering around New York City? At the very least, we would see a lot of dead bodies after the aliens attacked, but the city looked kind of like a ghost town. Today, the population is 8.8 million. The musical score is good but not as powerful as what was used in the first two films.

The original film in this franchise got 5 stars for its riveting storytelling. The sequel dropped to 3.5 stars. This origin story rates even lower. Lupita Nyong'o plays a woman who finds herself trapped in New York City when the alien creatures first invade. In case you haven't seen the earlier ones, they have ultra-sensitive hearing to hone in on their prey, hence the title. Original writer/director John Krasinski has been replaced by Michaael Sarnoski, who doesn't possess the power to create any real suspense. There are close calls and worse, but the film feels more like an adventure with the protagonists making their way thru challenges. There are several jump scares, but even the scenes that should be tense are only frantic. Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn (who shows up later) handle the situations with sufficient fear and there's a cat to deepen the emotional connection. Even so, this prequel only serves as a compelling survival puzzle instead of a riveting thriller.

8.5/10 for me. Less of a horror movie, less of an action movie, this is a tale of three people snatching meaningful personal victories out of a worldwide catastrophe. Djimon's Hounsou's character is #3. Day One therefore has much resonance with John Krasinski's Some Good News (2020) Episode one has 19 million views on Youtube. What was it? A focus on the good, the positive and the true in the midst of a very real worldwide catastrophe. I have yet to see any pro or lay critics mention either of the above points, a comment perhaps on the state of popular movie criticism the last five years. Too many critics wanting what they expect? If too little bro action, it's always bad? Too few willing to consider some originality and some authentic humanity might be intended and accomplished? The other striking asset is the sets. The NYC exteriors are fine; yet, it's the moody, half lit interiors and subterranean sets and locations which add the most, places we have never seen before ever.
