I mean, I’m sure we’re all sort of reflecting on this film through a posthumous lens. James VDB was very good in this part. A shame he was so ill and gone before this film had a chance to gain momentum. The plot was spread a bit thin, but this was still a good story on truth and how corrupt the system actually is!! .. and what not.

They HAD to hypersexualize it. They HAD to start the movie off with two drunken **** going at it. The choreography was good. I appreciated the artistic side to the dance and music numbers. What I’m really getting fed up with is every other movie starting off with a “bed scene” and expecting that to be a “catchy” opening. It started off typical, woke and stupid, and that really hindered what could have otherwise been a decent “modern” take an a very old story.

I don’t think this was as bad as what a lot of people are saying. It has sort of an “artsy” undertone to it and I kinda liked that. It had a decent enough story to follow along with, but the performances seemed flat, like each character and scene never truly met its full potential.

I had a hard time focusing on this movie, but probably for a very unique reason: the actor with the dark hair and glasses looks uncannily like my ex hubby! But that’s actually a compliment because despite the ex’s long list of personality flaws, he was in all honesty a very beautiful man. He was very handsome. That’s what made the situation even worse! That being said, this flick was alright. I think if I was a couple years younger and enjoying some of the buzzes I use to have I would have appreciated this movie a little more.

Undeniably, we’ve got some seasoned, veteran actors here who all step up their game! Some of the comedy and punchlines were actually equally written and executed quite brilliantly. But it’s like the true potential in each and every scene was never completely unlocked, leaving a potential classic feeling a little flat. JG-L’s character got a bit exhausting and clearly there was more screen time focused on HIM - and he wasn’t even the most likeable character? I don’t think it was bad at all, the true potential just felt a bit suffocated. Know what I mean stringbean??

The emotional roller coaster between the male & female leads really does a swell job at luring the viewer into taking sides between these two characters. I kinda feel bad giving this film such a low rating, but the script was so inconsistent, it became aggravating. The story didn’t seem to know what direction it was going, leaving every scene feeling incomplete and unfinished. Then it started getting all Woke and politically correct by throwing in this stupid lesbian romantic love story, and that was another unfortunate direction that the script took, once again wandering away from what would have otherwise been a great picture. The right ingredients were there, but I’m wondering if the oven was preheated?..

Something about the consistency of this movie was a bit clunky. The main character just had a stern, angry frozen look on his face all the way through which quickly became exhausting. Action scenes were okay, but just far too much dramatic dialogue, grunting and groaning that took away from the “moment “. The script seemed to zoom in too much on the characters and all their emotions leaving too many voids and flaws in the plot.

This wasn’t a bad take on a story based on true events, it’s just that when all this “behind the scenes” stuff is shown as a reenactment, there’s just so much that’s dramatized for the sake of making a film that it loses some credibility somewhere along the line. That being said, it was pretty cool how they captured the visual vibe of the era.

That was painful to sit through! Once the ball got rolling and things started happening it was worth the watch. As for the Chimp catching rabies? I find myself wondering why if someone was keeping an animal like that on their property why it wouldn’t be vaccinated to prevent something like this from happening?? I dunno. This is real, people. It’s happening. It’s been happening for a long time. Let this movie enlighten you on the bigger picture. Not bad for this long awaited sequel. I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this. It was nice to see Catherine O’Hara once again, although I think sometimes we got more of her Moira character from $hitt’s Creek than Delia Deetz. Visual and graphics are classic Tim Burton, but the musical score was lacklustre at best, with the talents of Danny Elfman being shadowed by MacArthur’s Park??🤌🏼…which seemed to be the movie’s theme song?? I mean, not a bad song. I still have Donna Summer’s version on 45, but the dancing scene inside the church just seemed like an afterthought, if even a bit rushed. The transition between the living and dead worlds was a bit too casual and lacking that spooky feel that the original 1988 version had. While this was well done and I did enjoy it, I’m afraid it just wasn’t as magical for me as the original.
