Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent is a great CRPG. It's not without its flaws, but no game is. I feel like while it's great in its current form, I can't help but think of how much better it could have been had they shied away from the campaign and mission setup and opted for a more rogue-like randomly generated dungeons experience. Because, at its core, Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent is a dungeon crawler. It doesn't rely on heavy storytelling; it relies on atmosphere and great mechanics. In its current form, you can expect a respectable 35-hour playthrough, with the vast majority of that being pure, mechanical combat. I enjoyed my playthrough, and have high hopes for future content, though I am still a bit nervous about bumping that difficulty slider above adventure mode. If you're a fan of the Descent board game, or tactical RPG's, you're going to love Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent.

Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent is a good dungeon crawler that offers interesting hero archetypes and a variety of challenges to deal with. It becomes a great experience if players manage to recruit three friends, so that everyone can control one hero. Given the relatively unknown fictional universe the developers are working with, it would have been nice to inject some extra weirdness into both the narrative and the presentation. Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent delivers on the mechanics front, but it might struggle to bring in fans of the boardgame into the video game space.

The tactical RPG based on the board game focuses mainly on exploration and turn-based combat, and it certainly doesn't disappoint in this regard. You'll also enjoy the variety of heroes and their abilities. However, don't expect a deep story or very rich loot.

Terrinoth - Heroes of Descent is an all-round good tactical strategy game with diverse characters and gameplay depth. The 20 dungeons have replay value on various difficulties, which change the gameplay enough to provide new challenges. Unfortunately, the story is very light, so role-playing gamers won’t find much here. For everyone else, Terrinoth - Heroes of Descent provides short and sweet dungeon crawling missions, which can be enjoyed alone or with friends.

Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent works best as a digital board game session: tactical, readable, focused, and easy to approach. Its combat system is clever and party synergies are satisfying, but narrative depth, character progression, and online co-op stability hold it back. A solid adaptation of Descent, though not a definitive one.

Terrinoth is highly accessible, gently easing players into its mechanics before culminating in a challenging finale. Familiarity with the tabletop original isn't a prerequisite for enjoyment, but fans of the physical game will undoubtedly relish this digital return to the world of Descent.

Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent succeeds by embracing simplicity. Its accessible combat system and short, self-contained missions make it an appealing choice for newcomers to the Descent universe and for players who don't have hours to dedicate to a single gaming session. While the experience can feel uneven at times, its strengths ultimately outweigh its flaws. Once players become familiar with its systems, they'll find a casual RPG that delivers enjoyable adventures without demanding a major time commitment. Even veterans of larger, more complex RPGs may appreciate Terrinoth's lighter, more relaxed approach.

Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent is a very middling RPG that does some things right but most things wrong. Making a game that can be consumed in bite-sized chunks so you can easily play with your friends has a lot of merit, but it seems like, along the way, things got a little lost. You can't get attached to your team because you're not spending time with them outside the missions. Most of the game revolves around combat, which is fantastic and very enjoyable, but past that, things feel very dull. The writing is serviceable, but the game just isn't set up well enough to give you something to invest in beyond individual missions.
