With over 50 games on the roster Sega Mega Drive Classics has something for most retro fans. Granted most of the games have already been seen in older collections and the emulation is not always perfect, but the ability to quick save and especially rewind is a game changer. Even though some will call it cheating, the ability to undo mistakes makes the classic games much more accessible and enjoyable than ever before.
A compilation does not need to do much to honour its legacy. It is expected that the games play exactly as they did when they released, at the very least. Having them play worse is unacceptable. The technical issues may not be as noticeable in some titles, but they utterly break the likes of Alien Soldier.
With more than 50 games and a ton of options to customize your experience, SEGA Mega Drive Classics is just pure fun and nostalgia. Too bad some iconic games missed the cut.

This collection contains 53 Genesis titles. But many of them were included in "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection". However, this release features online play, a rewind feature, graphical filters, emulation options and in-game challenges. I also like the menu screen which is presented as a Sega fan's bedroom from the 1990's. Overall, I would rate this with a 7.7 out of 10.

Great package of over 50 classic games for a nice price, much cheaper than any nintendo games collection and they let you own the game ,rather than paying for an online membrership; as they say Sega does what nintendon't! It is missing some good games from previous collections like sonic 3 and ecco the dolphin but it has rewing and online play making it the definitive sega collecion.

Sega Genesis Classics boasts an amazing collection of 50 games, all of which will keep you busy and entertained for hours. Some of the games can be challenging to a fault, but that's just the way some old school games were made. The games hold true to their original forms and bring you a cartridge full of nostalgia that you can pop right into the console of your heart.

There’s a disappointing lack of museum features, but you can’t really argue with 50 classic Mega Drive games, online play, and a surprisingly generous price tag.

This may not be a necessary purchase for somebody who still has their Sega Genesis collection from the last console generation, but this is a great assortment of Sega Genesis games and at least one of these collections should be in a every retro game fan’s library.

Packed with both nostalgia and great games, Sega Mega Drive Classics delivers a true retro experience. Visualization options are pretty much cool this time, and everything works as a Mega Drive suited for today´s screens, with a decent line up of the system´s finest. Significant absences hurt the overall quality, though.

It isn’t the most complete or elaborated collection, but it is indeed one filled with nostalgia and great games.

A fun collection with a lot of diverse games that invokes a lot of nostalgia. The games are emulated perfectly and extra options such as load and save states come in extremely handy. At its core this is a solid package but the fact that the controls are poorly explained is a missed opportunity. Also, a number of high profile third party titles are blatantly absent. There aren't any extra features either but it doesn't take away from the fact that this is a solid package overall.

This Genesis/Mega Drive collection for the next generation (after Genesis Ultimate Collection) is fine, though dissapointing. It includes 51 different games, which is more than Ultimate Collection brought, but it also loses some great games than the last collection featured and this does not (like Sonic 3, Ecco the Dolphin or Vectorman). The rewind feature, together with the mirror mode and other tweaks are nice additions, but there is nothing too exciting that makes you excited to buy this game if you already had other Genesis collections. In conclusion, this game is fine, though dissapointing. If you have already a Genesis collection on your shelf then you can skip this one. However, if you don't have any collection and you want to play the classics on modern consoles, then this is a good choice.

Poor selection of games. Why so many RPG titles? Honestly of all the memories I have of great mega drive games this collection has only a couple I used to like. Perhaps it’s a licensing issue that means these same games appear in a collection on every generation of console oth little changed. Just not good enough in my opinion I regret the purchase I should have just stuck to emulation on my pc and played the games I liked on that.

Another clumsy compilation cashing in on nostalgia. A missed opportunity with the games they could have included and it launched with weird jittery framerates. Avoid.
