Say hello to our little friend, great disappointment. [Oct. 2006, p.60]

The game just fails in so many areas. [Nov. 2006, p.82]

It’s every bit as profane, violent, and over-the-top as the movie, and delivers not only the gunplay you’re expecting, but as much depth as almost any other game in the genre. Like the film that inspired it, it’s sometimes a bit clunky, but makes up for it in bravado and style.

This "What-If?" video game sequel to "Scarface" is one of the best GTA clones. It may be highly derivative of "Vice City", but it also adds and improves upon it in some ways. More importantly, the script by screenwriter David McKenna (Blow, American History X) totally nails the universe created by Brian DePalma and Oliver Stone. This is a must-play for fans of the PS2's "The Punisher" and "The Warriors". I'd rate it with an 8.3 out of 10.

It's ok, but gets boring easily. You buy it, get halfway through during a weekend, and put it down forever.

With all that is found through out Scarface: The World is Yours, there is a huge amount of things to do and more action than you can shake a stick at.

Although it is formulaic at times and some of the set missions such as protecting a boat with a helicopter gunship while it catches sharks for a restaurant are a bit cheesy, the challenge of making more money, spending it and gaining greater power are as addictive as the white substance that makes its way up Tony's nose.

Matthew Alexander "Matt" Sinegar [SIN-NA-GAR] (An EXTREMELY Mature & EXTREMELY Heterosexual (Straight) African-American/Black Man): Scarface: The World Is Yours Is LITERALLY Always One Of My All-Time Favorite Mafia & Gangster Games. Tony Montana Is Literally Always One Of My All-Time Favorite Gangsters.

Given the cliché of terrible movie tie ins, I was most impressed with Scarface on that basis alone, but it does become easier to recommend the game when you consider that Scarface: The World Is Yours would be worth a play through even without Tony Montana.

As in the film, every other word is a four-letter one, and although the graphics can be a little choppy, the game is at least engrossing, with levels short enough to demand that they be replayed.

They nailed Tony Montana’s voice and attitude and packed a banana boat’s worth of blood and violence into hours and hours of open, GTA-style gameplay.

Once you get over the whole rewriting-the-end-of-the-movie thing, Scarface: The World Is Yours is a competent but usually uninteresting action game.

Brian De Palma’s film was an indictment of violence and capitalist greed; here they are your primary goal – the developer is relishing in the brutality and profanity and severely missing the point in the process. [Dec 2006, p.123]

For someone like myself who loves the movie, this game is a can't miss. It's basically GTA starring Tony Montana and a bunch of cocaine. It's a sequel of sorts, basically The Revenge of the Bad Guy. You have to go through all the names you know and love: Nacho Contreras, Gaspar Gomez, the Diaz brothers, and eventually, that f?&*in' Sosa and go straight (back) to 'da top. It has all the trappings of your typical sandbox crime game, for better or worse, but none of those other games let you play as Tony f&^ing Montana, the godfather of shooting people in the streets. Andre Sogliuzzo is brilliant as the voice of Tony. He really turns this game into a magical experience for fans of Al Pacino's mush-mouthed performance. It has easter eggs galore from the movie, and it really delivers everything it should to Scarface fans. "Uh, catch or check? Jos' kidding mang, catch is all I got."

Scarface is an astoundingly well presented open world shooter with one of the best soundtracks ever, not just on PS2. Back in the days I would say that the game is worth the full price, just because you get loads of great music, but in 2006 sadly (or luckily) getting your favorite music for a "low price" was already accessible for those who got internet connection. So whats left? Right, the story and overall presentation of the game. It just feels like the Movie and Mr. Montana has not changed since 1983. The dialogues, the protagonists, overall storywise this game does an overwhelmingly good job. The controls are also on point for a game of its kind and time, maybe not the car driving, but shooting up your enemies is a lot of fun and it works great. The downside is the hole concept of the open world. Roaming around in the streets of Miami ist just plain boring. There is nothing to explore and your enemy encounters are as repetitive as it can be. Sadly this is the same for the missions, but here it is even worse, since they feel very forced to do it a specific way. The worsed is the cop chase and the bribing system. Steal a car and immediatly after you got in they already know who to blame for. In 1983 (maybe its 1984...) cops seemed to have eyes everywhere and they are everywhere. You constantly have to engage with them in an utterly stupid quicktime event to get rid of them. The abolutely worsed thing is if a location-based mission collides with cop chases. You have to stay at one place, but also have to flee the cops or it is game over. Overwhelmingly bad gamedesign if you ask me. It is an ok GTA clone, even with better gunfights than in Vice City or San Andreas, but overall there is no need to give this game a try unless you love the Scarface Universe. I guess someone needs to sleep with the fishes in the bay of Miami for this wasted potential... Grinding through the main missions is about 4 hours of repetitive gameplay.

At times it can be fun but it can also be a massive grind and the gameplay loop becomes repetitive and **** basically mafia 3 before mafia **** story is good but i recommend it for a diehard fan only.

Just your average GTA-inspired game. Not much to say. I had a couple of friends that played it, so i watched a lot of it... never felt the need to play it myself.
SummaryIn a complex world filled with excess and greed, players can take the role of Tony Montana, one of the most ruthless gangsters ever depicted on film. Highly acclaimed screenwriter, David McKenna, has written an original event-driven storyline for the interactive game that leads the player through a sordid underworld. The Scarface video g...
