It's sad to see the Switch get the worst version of a wonderful game. [Issue #30 – November/December 2017, p. 63]

In bringing the latest Rayman adventure to Switch, Ubisoft has given the machine easily one of its most visually stunning and enjoyable releases to date. Not quite living up to the moniker of Definitive Edition with increased loading times and performance hiccups, as well as a missing feature, Rayman Legends is still well worth the lower asking price to those yet to jump into Rayman's world, yet outside of the portability aspect it offers little to entice series veterans.

There's only two good things about this game, the costumes, and the scratch tickets, but the rest of the game is bollocks, first off, the teensies, you have to collect these STUPID teensies or else you won't progress through the game, second off, the level design, the level design is so overly complicated that I died most of the time, and finally, the level with three teensies, THESE LEVELS FORCE YOU TO RUN AND ENEMIES AND SPIKES ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE, That's all

I played this game back on the Wii U and playing it again on Switch, it’s still a fantastic 2D platformer. This was my first Rayman game and what an introduction. It also includes pretty much all the levels from Origins. If you haven’t played it, I would recommend.

Rayman Legends’ levels are a major standout. They’re incredibly creative and full of unique ideas that set the game apart from most other platformers. The music is another strong point, especially the music-based stages. Those levels are some of the most memorable platforming sequences I’ve ever played. My biggest issue with the game is the floaty movement of Rayman and the lower skill ceiling. I tend to prefer platformers where characters feel heavier and more grounded, like Celeste or the Donkey Kong Country games, rather than Rayman’s ultra-floaty physics. I understand that preference plays a big role here, but it’s simply what I’m more accustomed to and what feels better for me. I also feel that the game doesn’t offer as high of a skill ceiling as many other platformers, which is a big part of what makes the genre so replayable. I might be wrong, I'm not familiar with the Rayman Legends speedrunning scene, but I also don’t feel the same drive to speedrun it as I do with other 2D platformers. In that sense, I’d compare Rayman Legends to Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Both have great levels and a steady flow of new ideas, but they’re the kind of games I’d need a couple years away from before replaying. Overall, it’s a very fun game, just not one I see myself returning to constantly.

Incredibly imaginative, extremely motivating and visually a treat: With Rayman Legends Switch users can look forward to one of the best 2D platformers of the last generation on their system.

Still the best non-Mario platformer ever made and a stunning work of imagination, but if anything this is the worst version so far – not the best.

The new version of Rayman Legends for Switch, despite not offering significant additions, again proves that the Ancel game is one of the best modern platformers.

One of the best platform games of the last years presented in an exceptional Nintendo Switch “suit”.

This game offers everything from the original, plus a tiny bit more. It is still a game perfect for platform fans, but if you have already played the original, this will not really add value to your experience.

There just isn't enough here to justify warranting a purchase of Definitive Edition. It's slightly worse than its prior counterparts (even forgoing the Wii U's gameplay twist with Murfy and not letting another Switch user connect and play in that particular way), and the only truly new feature is the ability to play a tournament mode in the Kung Foot soccer minigame.

Ich war immer schon ein großer Rayman Fan, aufgrund der Kreativität die das Franchise mit sich bringt. Ein gutes Spiel, welches ich sehr gerne mit Freunde und Familie spiele

Fun game with very good music, but may get boring after playing it for too long. It's fun because of its platformer aspect as well as fighting during the platforming. The speedrun levels are also fun and add a challenge. Sadly after playing it for more than 2h it gets boring really fast, even though the level and music design is very pretty.
Runs smoothly on Switch OLED.

The visuals are phenomenal, the characters are great, but it is so painfully easy. really wanted more out of this game.
