With next generation touch screen gameplay that works perfectly, an incredibly well created main quest, and a lot of extra Pokemon to catch this is a must for fans of the series and fans of Action RPGs. The use of the DS’ touch screen is unprecedented and has really captured a new form of gameplay. [JPN Import]

Pokemon veterans will also breeze through the comparatively light challenge Ranger provides, but newcomers to the franchise will enjoy the challenge. [Dec. 2006, p.112]

The dull, simplistic puzzle-solving relies on a gimmicky control scheme to distract you from the fact that it’s barely a game in any sense of the word.

Pokémon Ranger is the typical Nintendo experiment designed for the curious fan, the one who has already beaten all the main games and is looking for any excuse to give their DS and stylus another go. It is a game that is actually aimed at those who are satisfied with trying something different within the Pokémon universe, even if that "something" ends up being a repetitive mechanic that quickly exhausts its **** you're the type who needs powerful stories, genuine exploration, or deep combat systems, you won't find any of that here. Pokémon Ranger is perfect for kids with lots of patience, collectors of weird spin-offs, or for anyone nostalgic for that DS era where everything was about experimenting with the touch screen, even if the result is just average. For the more traditional Pokémon fan, this game will likely be a disappointment, and for the demanding gamer, little more than a playable curiosity.

It’s simple without being easy, and it’s fun without being frustrating.

Pokémon fans will lap it up, but will likely be left craving the more traditional Trainer-based titles when the game comes to a close.

This began what I consider my favorite offshoot pokemon series. I loved playing this game so much and enjoyed the challenge of circling a pokemon and catching it. Some of my best memories was playing this with my sister!

Cómo sacarle el máximo provecho a las características de la consola sobre la que estás trabajando.

Pokemon Ranger has a similar look and feel to all the other lighthearted Pokemon games, but invites you to capture all those critters in a rather exciting new way.

Pokemon Ranger is worth a try, but like the gameplay, it ends up going around in circles.

Pokemon Ranger is definitely a game for pokemanicas looking for a fix until the next true chapters in the series are finally released in N. America.

The real disappointment, aside from the painful hand-holding of the main storyline, is the glint of true potential the game's main mechanic shows at times.

Pokémon Ranger is one of the big misses in this franchise’s history. It can be entertaining for a short time, but uninteresting game mechanics and utter lack of difficulty will result in most players putting this game aside for good even before the relatively short story is completed.

I bought Pokemon Ranger because I always loved Pokemon and when I asked my father to buy it for my Nintendo DS he always said NO. Some months ago I decided that I wanted to try out Pokemon on my Nintendo DSi (I lost my Nintendo DS in holidays when I was a kid) because I always played it in my school laptop with a emulator. I bought it in a marketplace and after some days I was already playing it . The game isn´t like the classic ones. However , it´s still pretty enjoyable and fun to play. As a PC gamer , I don´t play it at home , but it´s pretty useful when you go on holidays. The game is set in the Fiore region and your objective is to preserve the nature and protect Pokemon with your Capture Styler. It´s a short game in terms of story but it can be pretty exciting and fun. I got mad sometimes because there are some pretty difficult captures , but if it was Easy it wouldn´t be fun , innit? The game is 11 years old but I still recommend it to the Pokemon and "Old" game lovers.

I played this primarily for the Manaphy Egg but I still find the game fun and replay it maybe once every one-and-a-half years. I find its take on gameplay interesting, though I think it would be better if there were more Pokemon you could send to the mainline games than just the Manaphy. Also, you can only send the Manaphy Egg once per CARTRIDGE, not once per save file, so if you transfer the Manaphy egg to Diamond/Pearl/Platinum you literally have to buy a new copy of this game to get another. Aside from that I like this game and it's fun if it's your taste.

It's interesting because it's different and it's indeed fun! I like the fact that you actually see pokemons running around the field rather than hiding in the grass and that they interact with nature.

Pokémon Ranger is an interesting spin-off and brings a new perspective to the franchise. Honestly, I love the Pokémon Ranger series, but this game did not bring me much enjoyment. The storyline is alright and the mechanics are cool at first, but it starts to get repetitive. I do like the lively animations of the game and find it cute, but overall, the game was not that fun for me. I recommend Pokémon Ranger Guardian Signs instead.

Pokemon Ranger fails within the pokemon franchises history. The entire concept of the game does not work, drawing circles around pokemon, instead of catching and battling trainers. Would be good as an added edition to another pokemon game but not as it's own game. The gaame is tiring and becomes extremely frustrating throughout, with many pokemon seemingly impossible to catch. The story line works well but apart from that Pokemon Ranger is just another game to throw onto the pile.
Summary(Also known as "Pokemon Ranger: The Road to Diamond and Pearl") With the help of Pokemon, set out on a fun-filled adventure! You play as a Pokemon Ranger in the Fiore Region, where you work to preserve nature and protect Pokemon. Circle Pokemon using the Capture Styler with Nintendo DS stylus control. Use each Pokemon's special abilitie... Read More
