Very good fun! I'm surprised that a spin-off can be as good, if not better, than the main games! Two different control schemes, lots of levels, medals to unlock, and four different types of race. Near the end its a bit repetitive, but it's a racing game, so you can't expect tons of variety. Very nice game and cheap too! Recommended!

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend7
Feb 29, 2012
I have to say, I was slightly let down by BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend. The game is a 2D fighter with over 10 playable characters and a huge wealth of different game options, including an online mode, and a story mode too. Extend is packed full of content, however, where I feel let down is the actual fighting. The presentation is absolutely gorgeous, with beautiful 2D characters and lush, brightly coloured backgrounds. The music is also amazing too, but I feel the controls let the game down a bit. The technical controls can be very hard to pull off correctly, and although you can opt for the Stylish controls, gameplay then just becomes button mashing. There are many tutorials for each individual character, which will help you learn the basics, and if you wish more advanced techniques, but sometimes the instructions can be hard to follow. Personally I would rate the game a 7, but I'm sure any fighting fan would enjoy this game. Packed full of content and beautifully presented, BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend is a gorgeous title that I'd recommend for the Vita.

Super Stardust Delta9
Feb 28, 2012
Super **** Delta is beautifully presented and controls a dream, and for only £5 it's a complete bargain. There are 3 different difficulty modes and 6 minigames to unlock which are extremely fun! There are 2 different control schemes to choose from to suit you best, an arcade & planet mode, and also online leaderboards. **** is also amazing in the graphics department, with every bullet and collision looking stunning. Music is great too, with tons of great retro tracks. The gameplay is much the same as the predecessor, however, there is more emphasis on switiching weapons and there are also little **** blobs to collect, which add to your final score. For such a cheap price, **** is an unbelievably good deal, and improves over **** HD massively.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss9
Feb 28, 2012
Uncharted Golden Abyss was the first game I played on my Vita, and I'm glad it was. Golden Abyss, although not developed by Naughty Dog, is very similar to past Uncharted games. I won't go into the specifics, (any gamer knows what Uncharted is) but it holds it's own against the PS3 games. Although I only own four Vita games, Golden Abyss certainly has the best graphics, and almost rivals the PS3's graphical capabilities. The controls are generally very slick too, with the added bonus of touch screen controls used for fighting, where you will have to execute swipes to apprehend your opponent. The only slight problem was the under-responsiveness of the analog sticks during aiming, however, the sensitivity can be adjusted in the main menu. The music won't win any awards, but there is some great scene-setting and lovely pieces. The gameplay is your standard Uncharted stuff, although Golden Abyss is overloaded with gimmicks. Gyro controls to balance on logs/beams just feel very unnecessary, and are also very fiddly. I also never used the touch controls for climbing, however, thankfully these are optional. There are a total of 34 chapters to play through; the main story lasting just shy of 10 hours, and there are plenty of cinematics and awesome voice acting. You can also adjust the difficulty setting (Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard) to suit your liking, and there's plenty of replayabilty value, mainly due to the 50+ trophies available to unlock. Although Uncharted Golden Abyss is gimmicky, it's fun, and it's the game you should be buying the Vita for.

Super Mario 3D Land9
Dec 5, 2011
Super Mario 3D Land. Can it keep up with Galaxy? Not quite, but it's not far short. The courses are designed amazingly well, and many are far better even than the genius design behind the Galaxy games. There are many new suits as well, including Tanooki, Boomerang, Fire and the Block suit. All are well used to brilliant effect, although the Tanooki suit does feel very overused, which sometimes unfortunately allows you to glide on by past some of the greatest Mario courses ever designed. The colours are vibrant, and the 3D is used really well. There's even 2 different types to choose from, one set deep into the screen, another further out. The game includes 16 world each containing 5 levels, and is therefore fairly lengthy. I have played 18 hours and have finished all worlds, however, I still have a few worlds to achieve all star coins on. If your quickly breezing through the game, it will take you 6 hours to complete each level. If you appreciate 3D Land's inner beauty, it should take you 20 hours. The music is very catchy and you'll find yourself humming along, but it can't compare to Galaxy. Something that can compare to Galaxy however, are the graphics. As beautiful - if not more at times - as any of Galaxy's levels, it's a compressed wonderland of vibrant colour and joy. Overall, 3D Land is an essential for 3DS, but if you've got a decision on your hands between 3D Land and Mario Kart 7, it goes to 7 for the longevity and extra polish. Still, a great game and a great Christmas present.

Mario Kart 79
Dec 5, 2011
It's not a joke, this is Mario Kart at it's best yet! Mario Kart 3DS is the 7th entry in the long running Mario Kart series, and it has made the biggest leap in the Mario Kart series to date. The courses themselves are obviously created by some of Nintendo's greatest minds, and unlike Mario Kart Wii, the courses are tight, well made, and allow for expert play. 16 characters and not far from hundreds of Kart combinations, the seasoned player can easily get a combination that suits them well. Time trialing has received extra emphasis, and the effort is clear to see in it's entirety. Daily entries from Nintendo and Retro Studios make you come back for more each day. Furthermore, Online is much improved, it follows Marion Kart Wii's set up but drops the previous lag which allows for racing online at a smooth 60 Frames Per Second, even in 3D. Communities allow groups of people to get together and play each other, and even have leaderboards to keep you coming back to try and get to the top. However, it's not without it's faults. The lack of Event mode and minor item inbalance (Although well improved from MK Wii) hinders 7 from achieving a perfect score, but it's the best Mario Kart yet. And quite possibly one of the best racers ever.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword10
Nov 20, 2011
The Wii was built for this. The motion controls are completely unmatched by any other game, and graphically the game uses all of the Wii's graphical power. The gameplay is amazing, and it's a real change from previous Zelda's. This is the game the Zelda 25th anniversary is deserving of!

Cave Story 3D9
Nov 9, 2011
I personally think this is an amazing game. From tip to tail, Graphics, Sound Effects and Gameplay, everything has been revised brilliantly for the 3DS. This is one of the best Game revisions ever produced. Forget The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D, (Despite it's brilliance) Nicalis know how to do a port. Yet, this is not a port, it's almost a brand new game. The scenery is unbelievably beautiful and well structured, and from what I have seen this is so far the best 3D in a 3DS game to date! - And yes, I do own Pilotwings Resort - it's absolutely eye popping, yet it puts far less strain on the eye than Pilotwings Resort did! - which is astounding! The Sprites are wonderful and well detailed, and really do this great game justice. As brilliant as the old soundtracks were, the reworked soundtracks are far better. They combine the brand new orchestral yet lovely old retro sounds in each song which makes each one a masterpiece. My only gripe about the sound is that it is not very varied in some places. The gameplay stays true to it's earlier successors, but by no stretch of the imagination is that a bat thing. The gameplay is simplistic and very effective, and most importantly, extremely fun! There are a ton of fun elements packed in including a Classic Mode where you can play as the original sprites against the newer background to keep that Retro feel. This is the joint best 3DS game to date, (No prize for guessing the other one) and I am so glad that I luckily received this 2 days before the official UK release date. Don't hold out until SM3DL, you need to get Cave Story 3D.

The World Ends with You10
Aug 26, 2011
The World Ends With You gives you an experience you couldn't possibly have with any other game. The gameplay is very innovative, nothing like anything done before. The Story-Line is full of plot twists that you'll never see coming, and the entire original concept is genius! The music is so B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L that I went and bought the Soundtrack. SOME, of the characters are lovable, e.g Shiki, and whilst some are a bit meh, they're meant to be, and it makes the experience your own, because you have your own thoughts of the players. Individually - Story-Line - 10 Gameplay - 9 Soundtrack - 10 This is my second favourite DS game only to Okamiden, and I think overall it's a 9.5 game, but since Metacritic don't have .5's, it's a 10. Bring on The World Begins With You Square Enix!!!

Meteos6
Aug 16, 2011
Don't get me wrong, I'm no hater of this game, it can be quite fun, but how this got a higher Metascore than thee likes of The World Ends With You, Castlevania, New Super Mario Bros and the rest is completely beyond me. There's just nothing 'Amazing' about the game. Through and through it's ok - good for the most part, but, it's a simple puzzler, that might last you a couple of hours tops. The aim is to slide these blocks around on the lower screen to send them hurtling onto the Top-Screen into a planet. But whilst you can try to be strategic, it's so excrutiatingly hard that in a short while you will be swiping at the screen randomly as soon enough the frustration gets to you as the blocks pile up and you lose control. The problem with Meteos is, that in a good puzzler, you wouldn't be able to complete the game within half an hour by swiping at the screen, but with Meteos, this is the only option if you don't want to throw your DS down with anger from seeing those stupid blocks pile up!!! In the end, Meteos is a solid concept and fun for a couple of hours, and it's definitely worth buying at it's current price, but it should be nowhere near this high in the DS charts. 70 possibly? Yes it's well deserving of that. 80? You could stretch there but your being generous. Almost 90? Pfftt, you really are on a different planet. In summary, Meteos is worth it's price tag, but don't expect it to be what the reviews make it out to be.

Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon9
Aug 9, 2011
Don't get me wrong, this game is not flawless in all aspects, but in one word it is beautiful. Fragile Dreams is set where a scientist has created 'something' which allows him to understand people's emotions, however, all he could hear were bad things, many about him. This caused him to create an experiment, and one night, when all went to sleep, they never awoke, apart from a few lucky people. The world was now an empty barren land, and Seto leaves his home after becoming lonely, after the death of his Grandfather, leaving him completely alone in silence, with no one to talk to. If you have any feelings, this game will make you extremely sad or possibly cry. As Seto journeys around he sometimes stumbles across other people, but one being a robot and the other being a ghost, only one is a real person. The game is just lovely, but there are massive flaws with the combat which will mean you will wish to avoid it at almost all costs. The Critic's in my opinion are harsh. In another's opinion, they could be right. In another's, they could be generous. Your liking of this game will completely depend if you prefer the beautiful landscapes and art along with one of (or possibly the best and definitely most sad) the greatest story-lines ever composed by anyone, or more of a substance person who loves the fights and the RPGish elements. For me, this is a near perfect game, because although the flaws are so obviously evident, the story-line makes up for the flaws and more in this saddening, heart wrenching tale.

Cubic Ninja7
Jul 7, 2011
It's quirky and new, but in many ways it's quirkiness is it's downfall. It's a fun little game, but whilst the game has obviously been attempted to be designed for the 3DS, unfortunately it simply dosen't work. The layering on the screen and the motion controls have obviously tried to be incorporated to the 3DS' Style, but unfortunately the motion control's become increasingly difficult to use and make the game extremely difficult, and also make viewing the 3D Slightly annoying, as although I can see it, many other's would not as being 13 I would have far better eyesight than somebody of 40 years of age. Despite all the bad points, the general feel of the game is nice, the concept has a fairly new twist, and there's a few things that will make you smile in this game. Of course, there are many things that will make you frown, like the agonisingly long loading time, but despite all it's flaws, for some reason I don't regret the purchase at all.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D7
Jul 2, 2011
Maybe it's just my view is a bit obscure, but having played very few shooters and no earlier of the Resident Evil installments, i found this quite new and interesting, however, i can understand that to others it may not be so. The graphics are nice, some of the best on a non-Nintendo mafe 3DS game, and the gameplay is quite well incorporated with the 3DS' style. There is a slight lack to the actual missions, but it's fun nonetheless, and I do think the critic reviews are slightly harsh. There's nothing mindblowing as Jowser11 said, but it's nice to play until Nintendo releases some of it's own games later this year, but it isn't a must have, just nice to have if you've got it.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D10
Jun 20, 2011
Firstly Trolls (for anyone who dosen't know are people who just post zero's because they are fans of Microsoft or Sony not Nintendo) and I really think people should respect games if they like them. As obviously, these troll haven't actually bought the game. So, I would like to start by saying the Overall User Review Score can't really be taken as an honest view, as some will post 10's just to get the score high, (although the game is very good in my opinion and worthy of a 10) or more commonly Trolls who post 0's. Anyway, sorry about that and on with my thoughts. OOT of 1998 was unjustifiable brilliance, now OOT 3D has bettered even the brilliance of the original. The story line is a thing of utter beauty, and the controls of the 3DS Make navigation, fighting, and boss battles simply more enjoyable than the N64 Or GC Versions. Amazing fight scenes, boss battles, and puzzling challenges and quests from the original, now combined with better controls, great visual improvements and glorious 3D, Ocarina Of Time 3D is worthy of nothing less than 100 out of 100, the only dissapointment is that it will never achieve the score the original OOT achieved on here due to the game being a sequel, but make no mistake, the Critic Scores do not reflect the truth. Ocarina Of Time 3D is easily worthy of the same or better score on Metacritic, in fact, it's easily worthy of 1,000,000 out of 100, it is gaming perfection, or as close as anyone will ever come.

Pilotwings Resort8
May 7, 2011
When i bought Pilotwings, i was pleasantly surprised, having recieved it on the 1st April, not bothering to get on launch due to the look of a Wii Sports Resort copy & paste feel, it felt very new. The gameplay and entire concept are very good, and with a wide selection of enticing modes and aircraft to choose from, you never feel any repetitiveness or fell like 'Lets get this over and done with'. The story only took me 2 and a half hours to perfect every mission, but i'm sure that others could get probably 7 hours out of the story, with extra'd to be had in the Free Flight mode.

May 7, 2011
Although the story-line lacks an intriguing depth, and there's not cut-scenes to really add to the Ghost Recon formula, the strategical gameplay (similar to Advance Wars) and tactical prowess makes Ghost Recon a fairly enjoyable experience, with a possible sixty hours of fun to be had in the campaign mode, plus the nice addition of single console multiplayer, maybe not providing the best multiplayer, but making it highly convenient to play with friends and family.

Ridge Racer 3D9
Mar 26, 2011
To start with, the graphics are top class. The precision and great quality of graphics means that the game looks like a PS3 game, that's how good it is. The game itself is great, with many great characters and uses most of rhe 3DS's functions to good (make that great) use. The only downfall is that there really isn't much new to offer, apart from some new circuits and the like. Very good, worthy of it's current metacritic score, however, could offer something that's slightly more drastically different to other versions.

Pokemon Black Version10
Mar 22, 2011
Absoloutely astounding. Whatever some reviewers may say about Pokemon Black not showing any new way for Pokemon, I don't think it needs a brand new developement, slight additions to the game each time adds new fun each time. Although it's not brand new, the great graphics which are used in Castelia City are amazing, some (ok lots) of the pokemon are dodgy and have slightly (ok very) unusual names, but that is not worthy of knocking a mark of it. I give it 10 here, but if i was marking it out of 100%, I would give it 95%. 2% off for not being completely new, 2% off for a few dodgy pokemon, and 1% off for few legendaries. But, that aside, brilliant!

Unbelievably hyped up and overated. As what i see as the only decent game series or game on the XBOX, i was massively dissapointed when i realised what had become of Call of Duty. The story line began as engaging and interactive, but soon enough the repetativeness sets in. After playing wi-fi battles for over 4 hours with still no luck in seeing what was so good about this game, i simply gave up. Goldeneye 007 for Wii was a far better effort than this.

Epic Mickey is Disney's best attempt at a global well known game, yet they still haven't hit the nail on the head. Whilst what has been introduced is new and attractive, the enemies are few and far between, and the concept becomes boring after a while, with only thinner and paint as your weapons.

Jan 9, 2011
Pokemon Ranger fails within the pokemon franchises history. The entire concept of the game does not work, drawing circles around pokemon, instead of catching and battling trainers. Would be good as an added edition to another pokemon game but not as it's own game. The gaame is tiring and becomes extremely frustrating throughout, with many pokemon seemingly impossible to catch. The story line works well but apart from that Pokemon Ranger is just another game to throw onto the pile.

The first problem with this game is that the title is a lie. Saying write anything solve everything is a complete lie. Super Mario Sunshine's story is yet again flawless, compelling and attractive, just like all Mario games are mant to be. F.L.U.D.D is an amazing addition to the already brilliant Mario, and the extra nozzles liven up the game. The ending is fantastic, despite the final boss battle being a bit of a pushover. There are many added levels to collect numerous shine sprites on, and even after finishing the game many will strive to collect all the shine sprites. Could easily be 10 if the camera wasn't so unbearable annoying, but this game is the best i have played on the gamecube.

What was meant to bring speed and ultimate graphics to the gamecube was F Zero GX, but with this it failed. The story mode is enhanced over other games, and shows a lot of individuality. The racing is fun at the start, but soon the game runs out of ideas and you begin to realise the true facts of the matter. The grand prix racing is good, however, the profiles are virtually useless, and many of the added features are either not worth having or take up ecsevive blocks of memory. Just get's positive, but dosen't live up to the hype that was surrounding it.

This has the most intriguing story-line of any game yet, easily out-doing the likes of the Phoenix Wright series, which have an amazing story-line, but 999 just blazes past it in caomparison. The expertly spellbound story-line will keep you well entertained, a deathly game with many great puzzles. The best thing about 999 is the amazingly tantalizing multiple endings, depending on how well you do in the game, all the endings are compelling. The characters are well suited, many that throughout the game you will learn to love. Despit the high price is well worth it, worth even 10 times the amount. You would have to be mad to miss out on this magical gaming experience!
