Mission: Impossible (1998)
Falls short in many areas, none of them excusable for a game that has been worked and re-worked for so long. If the game had been more like it was originally planned with random AI for the other people and more interaction between characters, it could have been a game worth purchasing.
An excellent attempt for Infogrames and I can't wait to see what they will come up with for the sequel.

The control problems, lack of balance and repetitive gameplay will turn off the majority of gamers spoiled by games like GoldenEye or Metal Gear.

It's not a bad game, the only problem is that the controls are not very intuitive, and like GoldenEye, it doesn't tell the story of the movie it's supposedly based on very well, but overall it's not bad.

A brave attempt at making an espionage game that relies more on stealth and strategy than an itchy trigger finger. It's not perfect because of its very linear and trial and error nature but different enough from the pack to make it worth a look if you're all Goldeneyed-out.

Many have complained about Mission: Impossible's trial-and-error gameplay. Is it me, or do those same people seem to have forgotten that "GoldenEye 007" had the same type gameplay, especially on its higher levels of difficulty?

I just replayed this and I was blown away by how good it was!! It was what you played when you were thirsting for more Goldeneye back in the day.

Although Mission: Impossible puts strong emphasis on espionage tactics, some of the puzzles you are required to solve are rather obtuse, resembling mindless busy work, while others are downright (forgive the pun) puzzling.

I enjoyed the story elements of the game immensely. The communication between the characters in Mission: Impossible is mature and completely in tune with the feel of the series and film. Unfortunately, the bulk of the gameplay in the adventure is not up to the quality of the atmosphere that is created for us.

A step back to the bad old days when the name was more important than the game -- a practice that Ocean was supposed to have left well behind.

I think this game was incredibly fun when I played it. Maybe I was too young to noticed all the flaws the reviews seem to focus on. The point of games is to have fun. I had a blast with this game.
