Grandia II Anniversary Edition

All in all I’d say if you are a fan of JRPGs you should give this one a try. The journey was fun and the characters were likable enough with some character development along the way. The combat makes gives a twist to the standard turn based combat and slight customization of skills and magic are fun to play around with.

While not as flashy as Final Fantasy or as original as Skies of Arcadia, this updated re-release is a testament to how much fun a well-crafted turn-based role-playing game can be. Grandia II: Anniversary Edition improves the visuals, adds a new difficulty and offers Japanese voice acting, but fails to put the 15 year old role-playing game into context.

If you're already a fan of the original Grandia II, give this newer, sparkly version a go! If you're a newcomer, give it a shot as it doesn't disappoint.

Good port of an old favorite.

Grandia II: Anniversary Edition is a remarkable re-release of a classic title, guaranteed to be loved by the fans of the genre, but it could have a significantly higher value for money, if the developers had made more effort to really enhance the game.

In the end, I had a great time with Grandia II. Though there are some issues, the gameplay is such that these are much more easily forgiven than they otherwise might've been. Those who have yet to check out the game have a prime opportunity to enjoy its excellent combat system with the Anniversary Edition.

Assets that were highly valued in 2001—visuals, voice acting, narrative/gameplay balance—now feel tired, awkward, and expectedly dated in 2015. With that in mind, a novel battle system serves as a decent shield for Grandia II's shortcomings. Combat drives the entire experience. Everything else is just along for the ride.

Grandia 2 gets everything right in an RPG and is one of my favourites in the genre. Great story, great gameplay, great soundtrack and great characters what more could you ask for? Though it falls a bit short of a masterpiece, it's still is an amazing game in it's own right and any JRPG fan should play it asap. The HD remaster is worth purchasing if you haven't played the original game, the visuals are considerably better than the original PC release though unfortunately the visuals were never a stand out feature of the game. If you already own the game on Dreamcast, there is little point in getting this. However if you own the PS2 or original PC release it is worth it for the visual upgrade and bug fixes. Ultimately it is the best version to date and if you're looking to pick this game up, you can't go far wrong with this version. The game also comes with Japanese voices, full controller support and an extra difficulty level which was desperately needed as the original game was too easy. Overall Grandia 2 Anniversarry is the definitive Grandia 2 experience and is basically identical to the original Dreamcast version.

Grandia 2 feels both familiar and very different from Grandia 1. The systems are refined, the adventure is more linear, and while the cast is a stark contrast, the variety works in its favor. Grandia 1 was the better journey, but Grandia 2 is arguably the better overall **** story is intentionally darker, though a bit cliche, and Ryudo never grows the way Justin did. Combat is a major highlight, with tighter canceling, improved magic, and enjoyable boss fights built around multi-part enemies. Spell effects drag battles out longer than needed, and the music is largely forgettable, with an especially grating dungeon **** Steam remaster is rough and hard to recommend; the Dreamcast version is the way to go. Despite its flaws, Grandia 2 is a solid follow-up that deserves a better modern release.

I played this many moons ago when it was first released on the Dreamcast, and I instantly fell in love with it. Fast forward 22 years later, and it’s still as fantastic as I remember. There is something that Grandia 2 does that even today’s JRPGs struggle to do. A fluid battle system that never gets boring, likable characters, a story that keeps you coming back, and so on. The HD remaster looks to clean up the graphics significantly, but my one tiny complaint here is that while battles are 60 FPS, everything else is set to 30 FPS. I wish it would have been 60 frames all across the board, but hey, no biggie. I can’t tell you how much I adore Grandia 2. I haven’t played a ton of JRPGs, but I have played my fair share, and I firmly believe this stands as one of the best with the HD remaster making it all the better. A big thumbs up from me!

Now we all know that the console game porting to pc is a risk road most of the times we get a faulty semibroken or glitchy product one way or another yet here in grandia we get the same grandia 2 from back then the same grandia we loved only now is buffed upgraded a little so yes i for my self loved this game then i love it even more so now GRANDIA 2 IS BACK!

Gameplay is marvellous, art top, musics are very food but the story is average.. cliche of all jrpg story good vs evil. Glad to have finish this !
