Everybody's Golf: Hot Shots is a highly entertaining sports game for casual players and simulation enthusiasts, even if its simplistic presentation leaves something to be desired.

Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots keeps the arcade essence intact, but dresses it up with new modes and innovations in the swing system. Its gameplay is demanding and deep, with RPG touches that extend the experience, though it requires commitment and a lot of grinding. Performance is its biggest drawback.

While some fans of the franchise may enjoy this new offering, newcomers and others will be frustrated by a game that didn't receive enough attention during development or that remained too stuck in the past to be truly successful.

Returns to the fairway but is stripped and diluted of what made previous titles in the franchise so beloved and memorable. Frustrating gameplay, flawed game mechanics, numerous graphical glitches, uninspiring course design, droning uninteresting music, it has a very limited online multiplayer mode equating to a very small online community. In previous titles, that was the main selling point, you had interesting and charming characters and a massive online mode to accommodate players. In Everybody's Golf Hot Shots, it is completely gutted of this and that's unfortunate. Skip this Everybody's Golf game, it lacks the soul and love that made previous titles so charming and enjoyable to play and keep playing.

We played the hell out of 2017's Everybody's Golf.
The open-world design of the game was great, full of character and we loved driving around in our golf cart, unlocking things, and entering competitions. The golf matches were great, the japanese audio with english subtitles set a good atmosphere and gave a cute feel to the game. The level designs were varied and interesting too, with even having the ability to unlock legacy levels from classic Everybody's Golf games. The touches of character like spectators exclaiming "boooring". We looked forward to its sequel for 8 years, and now it's here - we're disappointed. We're stuck with only American English audio, which as a non-american is like nails on a chalkboard. Driving the world with a golf cart is gone, replaced with a traditional yet boring menu navigation. This game lacks character. I honestly would rather just replay 2017's game. Why are there fewer options in this game over that? At least add the ability to set the audio language.

I find it incredible how they could mess this up as badly as they did. I played Easy Come Easy Golf and that is a vastly superior game in every way possible, a real shame that is locked down to the Switch. This is easily the worst Hot Shots golf game ever made, and the worst Everybody's sports title as well. I find it amazing how overly hard this game can be in the dumbest ways, especially given how arcadey it is, you would think it would be relaxing and easy going but no, this is far more difficult than the realistic simulator golf games I play and those are actually satisfying to setup swings with, this is just all timing and meters and they just made it so miserable. Miserable game.

Everybody's Golf Hot Shots is charming, varied, and fun. The game successfully combines simple, accessible mechanics with depth and strategy, and the many game modes and unlockable items mean that there is always something new to discover.

Great value for $40. Tons of content and really solid gameplay. Would love to see a game like this get the AAA treatment but for now this is super fun.

Everybody's Golf Hot Shots is honest-to-goodness, pure golfing fun. Better than any recent Mario Golf title, and with enough depth to satisfy those looking for a richer experience, it's a game suitable for a surprisingly wide audience. There are tons to see, do, and unlock, but the game is certainly hampered by extremely slow per-character progression.

Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots maintains its accessible and fun spirit, with intuitive controls and a variety of modes that shine best in quick, social sessions. The game truly stands out in matches with friends or in online mode — which is likely the key highlight of the experience — but it falls short in content for those who prefer to play solo.

Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots seems like it should include everything we expect from the series, but it falls short of Clap Hanz’s work. Characters come across as annoying, rather than charming, and it’s a lot of work to unlock them and build them up. The general selection of modes available are fine. However, some technical issues and design choices keep it from running and looking like it should. It’s okay and might be better after a few patches, but past entries were more enjoyable.

When compared to the other golf juggernauts in the video game landscape, the physics are poorly executed. Swings, timing, impact, and reads are far too inconsistent and hinder the enjoyment of the realistic aspects of the game far too much. Combine this with annoying camera angles, bad textures, and grindy gameplay unlock mechanics, and the air gets completely sucked out of the room...The main saving grace for Everybody's Golf Hot Shots is that Wacky Golf is chaotic fun with friends, especially if you don't care about winning. If you're going into the game expecting this to be a next step in the evolution of the series, though, I hope you've got a pretty high handicap, as you're going to need it.

Huge step-back. Everybody's golf ps4 looked better, played better, had better customization, better online, better character design. This game is still extremely fun, but it isn't better than let's say world tour. Characters look terrible too. Way too anime-y and lifeless. Clap hanz made these games have a soul

This game captures the fun of of golf in an approachable way while doing well to include additional fun modes like wacky golf and a story progression. However where it captures the fun of real golf it fails to capture the fun of video games. The commission of a character customization or creation tool means that the player is stuck using whatever pre-generated persons the game decides to give you. While you are able to change their clothes and the colors of those items that's a piss poor inclusion considering the level of customization the previous console entry for this game provided you. The three-button shot system is back in this game which is fun and with three different styles of that system it does feel as though the player has more control over their shots. However the game is so poorly optimized, at launch, that you consistently miss shot targets because the game jumps or lags sporadically. Originally thought this was just a problem from playing on my steam deck but unfortunately was also happening on my mid-range PC. Overall this game is nothing more than just fine. It feels more like a mobile game that was changed into something for consoles/PC to make more money than it does a console first game. Nothing here will 'WOW' anyone but if you're looking for a golf game to play with friends at a party or just to kill time this should do the trick. Unless you have a Nintendo Switch at which point just play Mario Golf.
