If Divinity: Original Sin 2 had only been an enormous single-player RPG, it would still be far better than most of what you could compare it to. The fact that it has such well-implemented co-op and a user-friendly game master mode gives it a tremendous amount of value at a time where such a thing can feel like a rarity. Even if you never touch all of its various components, you'll still be left with a role-playing game that exemplifies the best aspects of its genre.

From a great story to a difficult fight, from a beautifully created world to an excellent multiplayer, Divinity: Original Sin II is a unique game offering an unforgettable experience. Despite some mistakes, another RPG giant was born. [Issue#279]

For those looking to get into cRPGs, and even for those just searching for a great RPG, Divinity: Original Sin II is heartily recommended. It has all the virtues that fans of the subgenre have extolled and wraps them up in a way that is much friendlier to newcomers than every other title I've tried. Combine that with fantastic writing, a highly engaging combat system, and great design, and you have another standout RPG in a year packed full of them.

I like the many interactions that are possible, freedom of choice, character creation, narration and the combat system - for a turn based - is not bad either. With that being said, no matter how much I try to like this game (and I was very hyped for it), I can't get into it and the story I think utterly boring. The characters are shallow and uninteresting and the lore I'd describe as the United States of High Fantasy. I feel like the game doesn't even attempt to treat itself seriously so it's hard to feel excited, scared or invested in any way.I've made 2 attempts to get into it but throughout the 2nd act I lost any will to continue (the thought of a nap unironically felt more **** in all, pretty good gameplay with some nice ideas but packed with a boring uninspiring story based on the lore made as an afterthought.

Divinity: Original Sin II is not only a contender for best game of 2017, but one of the best RPGs ever created. The game could easily take a hundred hours to complete and the interplay between the well-constructed story, gameplay mechanics and player freedom creates a world I could see myself revisiting with different parties just to watch the story unfold differently. Simply put, Divinity: Original Sin II is truly divine.

It’s just a blissfully great experience. Some of the most satisfying combat in cRPG history, a great story, and don’t even get me started on the goated narrator. I swear I want whatever Borislav Slavov, the OST composer, was on when he made one of the greatest video game soundtracks I’ve ever heard. On par with THE Jeremy Soule, imo. Every detail in DOS2 screams 10/10. Just go play it.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 may have been designed in the spirit of decades-old RPGs like Baldur’s Gate 2, but that legacy serves only as a foundation for the expansive game Larian has built on top of it. Few other RPGs allow such a wide range of flexibility while also supporting rewarding combat and a powerful story, all in a world that feels alive in the ways it reacts to you and goes about its business without you. It's a rare RPG that I’ll want to play through again and again, driven by the feeling that so many fascinating and surprising paths remain undiscovered, some of which might lead to different outcomes for the NPCs I’ve grown to care about – even the rats. When that happens, you're experiencing something worth remembering, and Divinity: Original Sin 2 will be remembered as one of the greats.

No game has captured the nuance of pen-and-paper RPG quite like Divinity: Original Sin 2. Every moment is filled with meaningful choice with real consequences, and every character has a story to tell. In an RPG landscape where dialogue options are dumbed down, and quests have become package delivery to a specific map coordinate, Divinity: Original Sin 2 stands out as one of the best RPGs I’ve played in a decade...maybe even longer than that.

Divinity Original Sin 2 is undoubtedly one of the best RPGs we've seen in a long time. Deep, rich, varied and gorgeous are the right words to describe this game. Larian has made a true masterpiece.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 has an abundance of things to see and do, a staggering amount of secrets to unearth and plenty of tricks up its sleeve. Yet almost every cool moment I experienced sits shoulder-to-shoulder with an equally weighted disappointment. Ambitious and impressive as it often is, it’s ultimately a collection of incredibly pretty beads that just don’t string together as well as they should.

I got introduced to Larian Studios through this game and I'm thankful for it. Though the combat style was new for me (coming from skyrim and fallout) the story, writing and voice acting kept me hooked all through out the end. I felt the endings and romances could have been more fleshed out, but it was an overall fun experience.

God this is overrated. The story is mediocre at best. The characters are fine, not exceptional by CRPG standards. RPG elements are less than usual for CRPG standards. Turn based combat is cool, but is let down by two things: overabundance of environmental effects, and the armor system. The armor system is such a colossal stupidity that I can barely stomach playing this game. The constant looting of everything is tiring. The universe and lore are not nearly as interesting as other CRPGs. Utterly overrated in every way.
SummaryMaster deep, tactical combat. Join up to 3 other players - but know that only one of you will have the chance to become a God.
