Pure nostalgia! And one hell of an ending. Essential for those who like the first and second games.

Not a huge fan of the story and how it seems to disregard some important components of BioShock Infinite, but I’m happy to see Booker?

Wasn't something special. It was very short and had 0 loot. Very average but since it comes with the trilogy who cares.

Rapture looks great with Infinite graphics but the gameplay feels weird.
The Infinite game design does not fit well with Rapture restrictions: less enemies but harder, way less ammunition, less powers and more plasmid use.
Overall the gameplay does not feel comfortable. You don't have the proper tools to play well. Not enough ammunition for an RTS, not enough plasmids for full magic approach, not good stealth to avoid combat, ...

If anything, Burial at Sea is at least worth playing for the twist at the end.

Just trash, don't waste your time on it, especially on hard difficulty, because it becomes the hobo sim, where you need to kill 5 enemies with 2 bullets, and the ending is just blunt. some say, that it's too short - naah, you will pray this game to end on the second part, because all you do is you are going the same ways and killing the same types of enemies. give me back the time, that I've wasted on that crap

Episode one while its a good dlc its feels a bit short and rushed compared to chapter 2, still a nice dlc.

Excellent DLC for Bioshock Infinite. When the Burial at Sea DLC’s came out for Bioshock Infinite, I thought it would be the same idea as Minerva’s Den for Bioshock 2. A nice little piece of extra story, played trough the eyes of an previously unknown character, to view another point of perspective. Man was I positively surprised when playing Burial at Sea Episode one and two. This is a prequel to the events of the first Bioshock game and takes place in an era that Rapture was prosperous and alive, instead of the dead, rotten city it has become. The added story in Burial at Sea episode one and two is excellent. I played many games and watched many movies in which the creators try to add some unknown uncle or nemesis, that always was there, in their prequels, but in this game, the added story and the way that it all fits in with the first Bioshock game and Bioshock Infinite just blew my mind. It is flawless and perfect. I literally applauded when finishing the two episodes. For this reason, again, I will not spoil or mention any of it in this review. In the end, all I can say is that these two DLC’s for Bioshock Infinite are the best DLC’s I ever played in a game and have yet to be matched in the future.

Intact Rapture...this is a great idea to set the game there, especially the beginning is wow. Everything works here: graphic, sound and the background story. The main story is a bit confusing: Why did Elisabeth change so much, why is Booker still living, what happens in the end. So at the end there are a lot of questions. The gameplay is better, because it is a bit more difficult and you need to change weapons all the time, because there is not enough munition.

Burial at Sea - Episode One I passed nearly 10 years after Infinite. And then thanks to the re-release of the game on Nintendo Switch. And in general, it may seem that Burial at Sea - Episode One is a simple and passing DLC. Well, yes, they decided to Take Two to earn their $15 on the board of Rapture players and the first 2 games. But this DLC was done by Irrational Games with love for the original source, and secondly, without Burial at Sea, you will not get a complete idea of the entire series. Episode One can be passed in 1 hour if you do not appreciate the moment and do not explore this beautiful manually recreated world. Or you can in 4 hours with a full study. Episode One is required to pass after Infinite, even if you do not pay attention to its secondary, without it it is difficult to imagine Episode Two, which is beautiful.

It´s short and kinda rushed, it´s not as good as the Burial At The Sea Episode 2, but it continues to be a great story introduction to this dlc and introduces the world of Rapture well

First episode of Burial at Sea is fine, but unfortunately very short and not exactly the best piece of DLC ever made.

A slap in the face to Bioshock I never thought I'd rather play Bioshock infinite. Everything is lesser here than even that game. Well, except for unskippable cutscenes and NPC blocking. There's plenty more of that. It's like I have to do a mini game obstacle course to get around Elizabeth's gigantic ass. Some times for over a minute. It happens all the time. They at least brought in a weapon wheel. **** finally. But even that ****. As I can't use the scroll wheel or any hotkeys to just cycle through weapons, like I could in Bioshock 1, 2, and Minerva's den. Elizabeth is honestly even worse now than she was in infinite's base game. And I'm not just saying that because of the NPC blocking. Needing to rely on her for med kits and stuff is still a massive pain. Especially when she just doesn't feel like helping. For some reason, even though we're back in Rapture, the vigors from Columbia are still here. The game starts with possession and devil's kiss. They didn't even bother to just call the shock jockey the electro bolt for as little as that does. No, even the bare minimum is too much to ask for. Same for the others. Upgrades for the horse Vigor can be found in gene banks. And instead of winter blast is old man winter. Why? And the already awful possession is somehow even worse. You still have to wait for it to time out before you can shoot turrets and stuff, but now enemies don't commit suicide, so even more waiting and taking unnecessary damage. Seriously, the pacing is awful. And for some insane reason, the Columbia sky hooks are here. Why? But this time they're called air grabbers. The melee combat mechanics are as bad as they were in Bioshock infinite. Also, this part of the DLC is $16.99 which is insane for how little value it's worth. You could buy Dishonored, Postal 2, or Mysteria occult shadows for less and they're all of more value. This is also the worst story in the Bioshock series. Or at least it would be if it weren't for part 2 of this stupid DLC. It retcons the ending of infinite, even though infinite's ending **** anyway. And without getting into spoilers, Elizabeth is a horrible person. She actively puts innocent people in danger for no reason. And somehow. Burial at sea part 2 is even worse. With insane retcons and other idiotic stuff that just rips Bioshock apart. And of course, this game actively goes out of it's way to give the middle finger to Bioshock 2. I don't understand Ken Levine's hate boner for Bioshock 2. Especially since he is partly to blame for the state it was in. Because I have a character limit, I'm just going to link these reviews. ****/watch?v=pM_bqM5juMs ****/watch?v=k0GKPA4JQLE

This DLC is a bit difficult to describe. First off, it does require you to have knowledge of the previous BioShock games, which means you need to play through them as well if you haven't done so already. Unfortunately... Since BioShock 2 came out in 2010 and the original in 2007, it's incredibly unlikely that you will remember what happened in the prequels, even if you did play them. Thus, you're going to miss most of the references that this DLC makes since it doesn't provide you with any recap, which brings down the immersion quite a bit. (If you bought Episode Two already or have it as part of the Season Pass, I highly suggest going into Episode Two and watching the "Previously" recap first. That video provides a summary of all the important events of the first two games so that you won't be confused when you play this DLC.) The gameplay seems fine, although it's a bit recycled. The map is new and is based in Rapture, but it doesn't have the same look and feel as the Rapture in the prequels. You play with Elizabeth as a companion, and roughly halfway in the game, you'll be able to use her Tear ability from Infinite. For the most part, the DLC is well-rounded and feels longer than it actually is. I got it done in about two or so hours, playing and exploring very casually. It felt like a five hour game, but in a good way. The climax that concludes the DLC is meant to provide a twist to shock you, but instead is just random and unpleasant. It serves as an epilogue that adds more story to Infinite, but it's really not a great addition. I tried to care about the story more, but it just wasn't really that meaningful because of how it was presented. Overall, disregarding the lackluster story, I give the DLC a 7. The majority of the mixed reviews here seem to be on point. The gunplay is decent and the map gives you enough of a reason to explore it, but that's about all the DLC offers. On a side note, I encountered a major bug in the game with a door getting stuck and not opening (this is apparently a known issue). I managed to get around it after looking up how to do so.

This addition to the "Infinite" was almost a complete disappointment for me. Despite the fact that the overall plot and atmosphere of the franchise have been preserved, but an excessively short walk-through with a pseudo-stealth, and with minimal arsenal of character capabilities, literally make me upset.

Rapture... home. Yep, we're back in home, it's a very short visit, but pleasant. We get to meet old friends again, hear some people gossip, use some gnarly plasmids and then's the end... which is actually pretty surprising, I love it. This DLC is short as hell and I think that Burial At Sea should be released as one entity, not two. Still, it's great, pick it up. Pickens approves.

The DLCs haven't really renewed my interest towards BioShock infinite. Unnecessary unless you really, really liked the campaign game and looking for a prolonged experience.

Soundtrack: 8/10 Graphics: 10/10 Story: 8/10 Gameplay: 5/10 The soundtrack for the DLC complimented the game's setting, as I have come to expect from the BioShock series. The graphics, I had no issues at all with. The story really just sets up the sequel to this DLC, not a ton happens. However, it is enjoyable to go back to rapture and get some insight into the previous condition of the city, before the events of the original BioShock. The gameplay is where I had some big issues. All of the weapons I used seemed to do uch less damage compared to the base game. This made it very difficult to play on hard mode. Despite this, it did fix some issues that I had with the original game like ammo being a little too plentiful at all times and the difficulty was even throughout even though it was very hard. The skylines in the DLC felt kind of out of place, but I understand that they wanted to keep some things from the base game to make it an easier transition from each other. Overall, I enjoyed the story and atmosphere but loathed the combat. I strongly suggest this DLC because it sets up the second DLC, which goes further in depth into the origins of certain enimies in the game and bridges the gap between the end of this DLC and the start of BioShock. Overall: 7/10

Burial at Sea Ep. 1 feels way too similar to main campaign of Bioshock Infinite to become something memorable. It's just an additional 2 hours of BI but now set in Rapture.

Simply sets the scene for Episode Two and reviewing this by itself doesn't actually make a huge amount of sense. As a stand alone DLC it's fairly bad but as said, it exists for a specific reason.

I love Bioshock. I love Bioshock 2. And I thought Bioshock Infinite was a great game. But Infinite's first DLC, Burial at Sea, belongs just there, at the bottom of the sea, where no one can find it. BaS was labeled as a "Return to Rapture" but all it does is muddy up and destroy the story of the first two games. Believe me, Rapture looks amazing in Infinite's game engine. It is just that the story in this DLC is awful and utterly pointless. It messes with Bioshock canon and doesn't make any sense. The gameplay is just your standard Bioshock gameplay with no big surprises and you just wonder why this was even made. Oh right, I will tell you. $$$$$$$ Just stay away.

It's good and has its moments but not as compelling and not as wonderful as Infinite. It's got some bugs (Securis door won't open) that were annoying and the checkpoint system here is bad (but forgivable). You probably already know that the story is another parallel universe alongside Infinite so it won't surprise you that much. But if you finished the original game and still had many questions and want to see more of what could have been to set things right, you will enjoy this... guaranteed.

Bioshock Infinite Burial At Sea is an episodic expansion for BioShock Infinite. The story happens after the events of BioShock Infinite. The first episode is a lot of action ami, incercandd bring a feeling as in Bioshock 1.Gameplay is the same as that of inifile. Graphics is a much better, much better and detailed, with times when you leave you speechless. It's a pretty good expansion, especially in the Rapture happens.

Burial at Sea can be completed in less than 1 hour. Nothing new here. My breakdown is as follows: 1. Graphics: 9/10 - excellent as the original game 2. Gameplay: 2/10 - linear, and super short 3. Story: 2/10 - what story? Overall, below average DLC.

Instant disappointment. This is nowhere near the quality of the base game. Just about everything is worse. The combat is worse, your character is worse, there are less guns and abilities, and the story is totally random and I really don't even know what to think now. The good part is that you get to go back to Rapture and see it before it became the hell hole it was in Bioshock 1. There are also new weapons and a new vigor as well. I liked how they interweave the two worlds of Columbia and Rapture so that was nice. Other than that there really isn't much to say. The $15 asking price is absolutely ridiculous. If you're a fan of Infinite then you should get this, but wait for a sale.

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode One. This game is a DLC, for the first game that I ever reviewed: BioShock Infinite. For those of you who don't know what this means, this basically means you cannot play this game without getting BioShock Infinite first. As for BioShock Infinite itself, I thought it was a fantastic game, and more than worth purchasing for any gamer (see my review of the game for more details). As for this game/DLC, does it measure up to the fantastic feats of the main game, or are the clouds of Columbia better than the oceans of Rapture after all? Let's find out. The gameplay of this DLC is very much the same as BioShock Infinite. You play as a man named Booker DeWitt, and must fight alongside Elizabeth in a fantastic first-person shooter experience. As I said, as a shooter, this DLC is fantastic. It retains all of the same gameplay that made the original game so enjoyable. The controls are about the same as any other PC based shooter, and it adds a few extras. There are numerous weapons to choose from, and you also get super powers called vigors, that add a unique touch to the game's gameplay. Once again though, this is the exact same gameplay as BioShock Infinite. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. If you enjoyed BioShock Infinite, which you most likely did, there is definitely fun to be had with this DLC. If you didn't however, this DLC is most likely not for you, as it does nothing to change the gameplay at all. Sure there is a new freeze vigor to play with, but that's the only real thing they added. The other problem I had with this DLC is that it is way too short. I managed to beat it in just a little over an hour. Despite the short length however, when you get down to it, the DLC is just more of the same game, and that is exactly what I am a fan of. This DLC is really fun for people who enjoyed the main game, but if you didn't like BioShock Infinite because of its gameplay, you won't find many redeeming qualities here. As for the graphics, they are also more of the same. While the graphics don't enhance the main game in any way, they are still every bit as pretty to look at as the main game. Plus the game's return to BioShock's original setting of Rapture allows for many more unique visuals than the main game. Once again however, if you enjoyed BioShock Infinite's graphics, then this DLC is definitely for you. If you did not, then you will probably have to look someplace else. This DLC also boasts the graphics of its main game, but if you didn't happen to like those graphics, then this is most likely not for you. As for the story, let me just start by saying that it's complicated, and you should definitely play the main game first before moving on to play this one. The reason why is: this DLC takes place right where the original game leaves off. In other words, playing this DLC first would both spoil everything that happened at the end of the original game, and be too confusing to even try to follow, which is most likely why it was DLC. The story of this DLC is that Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth have to rescue a girl named Sally from the city of Rapture. The story is pretty good overall, except for one thing: this DLC is just over an hour long! It feels like it is developing into something just as it ends so abruptly. That's not to say the story is bad, it's just that it is too short to really develop into anything. Despite having a really abrupt ending, this DLC still has a great story. Overall, this DLC is worth buying if you really enjoyed BioShock Infinite. I recommend this game to anyone who has played the original game and loved it. If you didn't like this game however, this DLC is just more of the same game, and definitely not worth purchasing. Gameplay: 8/10 Graphics: 9/10 Story: 8/10 Overall: 8/10

General Overview: If you have familiarity with Rapture, the setting for Bioshock (forget Bioshock 2 - NOT by Irrational and not really worth playing in my opinion) and have enjoyed Infinite, you would do yourself a disservice by not getting BOTH episodes. Taken on their own, Episode 1 is a less enjoyable game and the intellectual part of it is simply... ODD. Never the less the story is well told as always, unnerving and heady. Game play is good but not as well done as Infinite or Episode 2 which uses a different formula. This is a great beginning to a send off of one of my favorite companies. Thankfully Ken Levine will continue with a smaller studio producing his strong narrative games, it just won't be the big group that formed Irrational. TL;DNR: 8: Great first episode to close out Irrational games work on Bioshock, but Episode 2 is superior. Regardless, if you enjoyed Bioshock and Infinite (for Bioshock 2 please) then you owe it to yourself to bring the series and the story full circle. Great graphics, smooth game play, intense combat and a decent story although a bit more out there than usual even for Bioshock. Technology/engine: 7: Uses Unreal 3 and is well optimized but nothing really innovative on this end. AI: 7: A little brain dead in places and incapable of missing at other times but on a whole its a challenge and keeps you on your toes. Graphics: 9: Great sets, good character models with plenty of variation, good particle effects and gun play is as sound as ever. Sound: 8: Slight distance to source issues (voices sometimes sound like they are on top of you but are really across the room) but otherwise great ambient sound that provide immersion. The audio logs are just great and remain a highlight of the series. Soundtrack: 10: Superb period appropriate music that does not overwhelm and only enhances the experience and immersion. Voice acting: 10: Really top notch voice acting. Some of the best in gaming. Crafting: N/A Customization: Not really able to rate on this as its very minimal. Game play systems: 8: Well done but loses some of the fun of the use of sky hooks. In fact they are used so little it appears that they were included just to keep a thread of connection between the two worlds - Columbia and Rapture. Controls: 8: In some ways its of little burdensome but overall works well. The controls in Episode 2 are streamlined and improved when compared to Episode 1. Story: 10: Fantastic writing with great dialogue - everything from the short short films to cut scenes and off the cuff comments. Ken Levine is a masterful story teller. Multiplayer: N/A

This rapture has no connection to Bioshock's Rapture. This Rapture is like Colombia under the sea. There were no Penumeo lines (I didn't write it correctly) in the first Bioshock. There was almost no change in the gameplay. It is a waste of a sequel, it could be better. The storyline is perfect.

The dlc is great not as good as the full game but still great. It tell a short but sweet story with a very nice twist at the end that sheds new light on the characters we know and love from the full game. As it is so short though the asking price is a little high if bought on its own but as part of the season pass it is well worth even if just so that you get the story leading up to episode 2 which is amazing by the way.

If you care about the story at all DO NOT BUY THESE DLCS. They have bits that are internally inconsistent and completely ruin it... not to mention the ending is complete crap.

It feels good to be back in Rapture. The biggest selling point for the first episode of Burial at Sea is seeing Rapture in its prime. The first hour or so where you can freely walk through a large open area inside rapture is awesome. It does come with its downsides, the pacing feels kind of weird because of the combat overkill in the second half of the game. The biggest disappointment besides its short length is the second area. Booker and Elizabeth are sent to a sunken down part of rapture where splicers run rampant. It looks like a environment from the first game and i would have rather spent more time in Rapture in its glory. Overall i think this is a good piece of dlc and a must have for every Bioshock fan.

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode One spoiler-free review: A short but enjoyable journey back to Rapture. As we go back to Rapture with Infinite's gameplay it was hard to adjust. This is the same problem I had with Bioshock 2's Minerva's Den. Infinite stablished itself as first person shooter where you were unstopable and overpowered. Now, (still in the hands of Booker) the game decides to make AI extremely tough. It was really hard to adapt to this new cautious and strategic gameplay. Now story. The story is good but nothing mindblowing like BioShock: Infinite. The music is very good and the sounds of Rapture and from the original BioShock, are great. The game looks great as well, better than Infinite I believe. In the end Burial at Sea episode 1 is a short but good DLC that (hopefully) is a set up for an incredible episode 2. Average Score: 7.5/10
