Fallout 47

Fallout 4 is certainly disappointing, but I don't think it deserves all the 0's it's getting. It is without a doubt a step back from New Vegas is just about every way other than texture quality and gunplay. The story, characters, and setting are all generally uninteresting. There are a few good characters and quests here and there but they are few and far between. The big thing that they hyped up prior to release was the settlement building. This mode is tedious and frustrating. It is impossible to create anything original since there are only a few preset structures to create and the way that things have to clip to each other makes it a pain to make something that the developers didn't envision. On top of this, the mode serves no purpose in the overall game. You build a settlement that looks like crap (because there are no nice looking options) and then it sits there and has no effect on anything. It's very disappointing. The world is not interesting and other than a few landmark buildings, it doesn't even look like Massachusetts. New Vegas has more interesting things going on and it was in a desert! I could live with all these problems, but they also decided to tear out the core RPG skills. I'm not even a huge fan of RPGs, in fact I prefer shooters, but this was a lame idea. When you level up you can pick one "perk" to get or you can level up one of your SPECIAL skills. Most of the perks are painfully boring or just plan useless. This means that you don't feel your character getting more powerful, and you have little control over them. You also can't be a bad guy. In NV you could choose multiple paths to take, NCR, Legion, Mr. House, etc. There is none of that here and it is very much a linear game which kills any interest I have in replaying it. I normally don't mind linear storylines, but this is Fallout and frankly the story isn't any good. Despite all these issues, I still enjoyed the 40 hours i put into the game. It's not bad, but it's not great. I feel like if i tried to play longer, or starting a new character then my score would go down, but i don't plan on playing this again. I'm also not looking forward to the next game by Bethesda Game Studios.

Endless Legend - Shadows7
Nov 27, 2015
Shadows adds a new faction, The Forgotten, as well as implementing an espionage mechanic to the game. The forgotten are fun to play as and are as unique as the other factions already in the game. The espionage mechanic adds some options to gain tech, capture cities, etc. It's more fleshed out than spying is in Civ V, that's for sure, but it still doesn't add a whole lot of additional options to the game. Don't expect to be re-addicted to the game like BNW and G&K did for Civ V, this is very much a small expansion. For the content that is here, I feel as though the game is overpriced. I got it for $5 on sale and I'd say that is a good price for it. $13 is too much.

Lucius is certainly an interesting game. You go around as a child and murder people in your ****'s a third-person point-and-click where you try to find the items you need to complete the murder and then use them on the correct items in the world or use them at the right time. You also get some demonic powers to play with which adds some depth. However, the game really doesn't try anything groundbreaking and it doesn't do anything really well either. It's a run of the mill game, and yet I found myself enjoying some parts of it.

Tales from the Borderlands: A Telltale Game Series6
Nov 18, 2015
I'm not a huge fan of this title. The game is basically a comedy. Don't expect any drama like in TWD, TWAU or GoT. Your characters are never in any real danger so there is never any suspense. The game completely relies on its comedy to get it through but I honestly found that it fell flat the majority of the time. It also makes the typical telltale sin of shoehorning things into the final episode even if you completely ignored them for the entirety of the game. Overall, not impressed.

Divinity: Dragon Commander8
Nov 18, 2015
Dragon Commander is a mix of a very basic RTS game and a decent Turn based campaign. The whole selling point of the game is that you play as a dragon during the RTS battles and can completely wreck your opponent quite easily. It's basic, but it's very fun until you realize how repetitive the game is (which will probably last you at least one playthrough - ~10-15 hours). Strategy fans will enjoy their time with it as long as you don't expect it to challenge you due to its lack of depth.

A short but very good shooter that still holds up to this day. The story and setting are interesting enough to pull you in and keep you interested for the duration of the game (about 6 hours). The gameplay and time manipulation mechanics are where the game sets itself apart from other shooters. If the game was longer it would certainly score higher.

Legend of Grimrock7
Jul 16, 2015
Unlike any other game i've played. A grid based real-time dungeon crawler. Set levels and item locations means that there's no randomness to this experience which is a welcome sight. You control 4 prisoners which you can customize thoroughly from their race, to their class and skills. The game isn't hard to get to understand but may take quite some time to master. You won't be able to level up fully by the end so you'll have to spend points wisely and there's no economy so hoarding loot isn't viable and managing your inventory is a significant part of the game. The story, though not a big part of the game, is interesting at first and you find haunting letters along your journey that tell the tale of a prisoner that came before you. This all builds up to the ending which I unfortunately found to be a big let down. I was really interested in finding out what happens at the end but the final boss and big payoff was ultimately disappointing in my opinion. Other than that the game is well made and is an enjoyable experience. There are issues here or there but nothing major.

Grand Theft Auto V6
Jul 11, 2015
A good singleplayer game with a decent story and characters. Unfortunately the missions and side jobs really aren't that interesting. The setting is a generic southwest U.S. city that doesn't feel original at all. The missions were repetitive with the exception of the heists which were really well done. I just wish they had more flavor and uniqueness in their missions like they did with Bully all those years ago. But despite these problems I still enjoyed most of my time with GTA singleplayer. However, GTA online is a totally different story. It's a wannabe MMO that fails in every single regard. The grind is ridiculous, the load times are near endless, and the connection problems are continuous. When i've tried to join GTA online more times than not i've been thrown into a German or Russian server even though i'm in the middle of the U.S. There are hackers in probably 50% of the servers as well. But worst of all is that the large majority of the missions are just flat out boring. You'll finish most of the stuff within 10 hours and only be at about level 15. The rest of the game will be a grind of playing the same stuff over and over again. The only decent part of online is the heists, which you better have 3 other friends to play with because finding a game with 3 randoms is a nightmare nobody should experience. Talk about trying to form for 20 minutes only to get in game and have someone die, then try a couple more times with people dying for one reason or another, then somebody decides to just leave the game and you're thrown back to forming up again. You've wasted over an hour of your time and haven't even done anything. And to top it off when you actually finish a heist finale you'll be rewarded with around 2,000 RP (experience). You can get 1,000 RP in 4 minutes by finishing the quickest race by yourself. It's not balanced at all and you get better rewards for doing the same thing over and over again rather than tackling the hardest missions in the game. Bottomline is GTA online is an abomination.

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD8
Jul 11, 2015
The bugs that plagued this game seem to be fixed. I only ran into one issue throughout my playthrough and it wasn't game-breaking or annoying at all. The oddworld universe is fantastic and very interesting which is part of what will pull you into this game. The story is alright for the most part but about 2/3 of the way through there will come a twist that made it much more interesting and i was fully invested until the end, which was satisfying if a bit of sequel bait. Its characters and setting are wonderfully done and the graphical upgrade make it seem as though the game isn't as old as it really is. It's a mix of third person platforming and first person shooting that makes the gameplay unique it and works surprisingly well. hunting your "live ammo" to use against enemies was a nice touch that hasn't been done before or since. My only real gripe with the game is that the bounty system, which was awesome by the way, is thrown out of the game about 2/3 through. I wish they could have kept it all the way. Overall I wish i played it when it was released because I enjoyed it very much. Hope we get a sequel some day!

A surprisingly good twin stick shooter. You control a mech and go around trying to get revenge on the evil empire. It gets repetitive near the end but it's not too long nor too short so I can't complain. It does get brutally difficult at the end on the highest difficulty. Otherwise it's a relatively easy game even for those not use to the genre.

Endless Legend - Guardians7
May 7, 2015
Guardians is a nice, cheap little expansion. You get a bunch of new buildings, units, and quest like goals to achieve for a low price. It's changes the way you play the game by adding new legendary buildings which provide massive bonuses to whoever can get them up first. It adds deeds which are small goals that provide boosts to whoever finishes them first. It also adds Guardians, massive units capable and destroying an entire army themselves. Still, unless you're an avid player, you may find it doesn't add enough to warrant a purchase. Guardians won't get you re-addicted to the game like Brave New World or Gods and Kings did for Civilization. But it adds enough to freshen the experience for a few games.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood7
May 7, 2015
I have to say I disagree with many of the other reviewers when they say this is as good or better than TNO. The standout features in TNO were the solid gunplay, the wonderful characters, interesting setting, and engrossing story. Unfortunately, TOB only retains the first of these. The story and setting and characters aren't nearly as interesting as they were in TNO. The levels don't look much different, sure you're in Castle Wolfenstein but it looks the same as the castle in TNO and you never come across anything that really stands out. I also didn't find the weapons to be as interesting this time either. I know it's set prior to TNO so none of the futuristic weapons can make an appearance but the neo-tommy gun was sorely missing as well. None of the levels are memorable. In the first game you had the epic landing scene, the moonbase, the bridge assault, etc. No stand out levels are here sadly. The hyped addition is this pipe that you can use to access new areas. This pipe functions solely as a melee weapon and you use it to climb designated walls where stairs or ladders could have sufficed and open doors that could have easily been opened with something else. It doesn't make the gameplay or exploration any better. But for some reason they want you to love this pipe so they make you spend 40 minutes alone with it and the beginning of the game and it's a real bore. The game does a nice nod to the old games by bringing back the occult. However i didn't really care for how they did it. They added zombies which are supposed to be a joy to fight. There should be hordes that you can mow down. The zombies in TOB just weren't fun to fight. They just felt like brain dead normal enemies who didn't shoot back. Although i just listed a ton of negatives about the game, i still really enjoyed my time with it. If you liked TNO, you will probably like this. It's more of the same, with some parts that are better and some parts that are worse. There is more comedic relief this time around and I genuinely found it funny. The new enemies were interesting and fit well with the theme. The end boss was wonderful, if a bit easy to defeat. The levels themselves were well designed if a bit repetitive. It's a fun game, no doubt about it, but to say it's perfect is crazy.

A fun little top down shooter for a game or two at a time. It has online coop so playing with friends is available as well. You get a gun, you shoot aliens, you get money for shooting the aliens, you use said money to get better guns so you can shoot tougher aliens. And that's all there is to it. There are a good number of levels (11 as of writing) and the devs seem to be continuing to support the game with updates and additional levels. unfortunately the levels don't really feel different. Sure they all have a different layout and enemy spawns but with the very simple aesthetic of grey walls, floors, and everything, none of the maps play differently. You find a nice corner to hold the aliens off and if you can't you die. The complete lack of variety is what sets the game back. Every time you play a game it will feel the same as the last. Still, I enjoyed the short time i spent with it and you may want to check it out if you're looking for a quick fix in the top down shooter genre.

It's a free iOS game that they want you to pay $5 for on PC. It's a pretty scummy business practice that I can't say I'm a fan of. For the 5$ you get the game, one basic team, and the PC exclusive TF2 team. They also are selling 4 other teams for 4-5 dollars each - the same price as the game. The gameplay is solid - it's turn based strategy where you move your individual units across a board in the attempt to either kill all enemy units or destroy their crystals. It's kinda fun but playing it ends up being a total chore. The servers for the game are the most unstable servers I've ever come across in a game. They are constantly crashing and you may find yourself unable to play for weeks at a time. After being burned so long by losing connection and thus losing progress of your games, I can only rate this game so high.

Morphopolis is a short, casual game where you go through levels trying to find hidden objects and sometimes solving a puzzle here or there. The aesthetic is nice to look at and helps to hide the objects but I never really struggled to find objects except for once. The controls can be a bit buggy but it's nothing to worry about. It was decently fun for the price - I paid only 50 cents for it on sale. It's relatively easy and relaxing until you get to the final puzzle which was a surprising hike in difficulty. You may find yourself stuck on that one for quite some time. Overall it isn't terrible at anything, yet it doesn't do anything well other than the aesthetic.

Killing Floor6
Apr 19, 2015
Killing Floor is a coop shooter where you find yourself shooting "specimens" which come at you in waves. If you survive until the end then you win. It's simply and fun for a while. Unfortunately, like most zombie games, it becomes repetitive quite quickly. The gameplay is solid and there isn't much to complain about here. You buy guns with money you gain from finishing waves and killing enemies and then use said guns to kill more baddies. However the game also has perks which you can level up by dealing damage with certain weapons or killing specific enemies. These perks give you huge boosts which drastically alter good of a job you can do. These perks also have insanely high requirements. This turns the game into a huge grind where you're just trying to level up perks so you even have a chance at surviving on higher difficulty levels. I don't think it helps the game at all and only adds to the repetitive nature. The game has a server browser which is nice, however teams only consist of 6 players, so lobbies fill up quick and it makes it a pain to try and play with friends unless one of you is able to host a server. If you don't host a server, plan on having other players join in as well. Overall I enjoyed my time with it but it was too repetitive to warrant a high score.

Ultimate General: Gettysburg6
Mar 31, 2015
I've come back to this game after a few months and I have decided to update the review. I previously gave the game a 3/10 but I'm glad to say that I found the game to have been improved considerably. Firstly, the game has fixed a few things that I criticized before: Your pathfinding AI is now better. Units won't run around aimlessly. Artillery is easier to use and acquires targets on its own now which is great. It's still difficult to tell if you'll be able to shoot at some enemies or if a tree or barn is in the way, but overall it is greatly improved. Now on to the good: The map looks nice and you can see where all the landmarks are easily . Both factions play differently, the north is more defensive and likes ranged units, while the confederacy is more aggressive and likes to get into melee combat. They aren't perfectly balanced, but that's to be expected. Maps aren't super long and I like who what you do in the previous battle affects your placement and options in the next. However i did find that sometimes when i captured an objective in one battle, the game would take it away from me for the next, which is annoying but not game breaking. I'm not sure how long or short the game is, some people say you can win on the first day while others say it's taken them 4 days. I've always finished in three days which is about 6 separate scenarios. It's still difficult to discern what affects the morale and condition of your troops (which drop rapidly). I wish things like this were easier to figure out. In the end, unless you're interested in multiplayer (which isn't very active) the price is a bit steep for what's offered. Recommend waiting for 50% off at least.

Cities: Skylines7
Mar 24, 2015
I understand why people are giving this game such high scores but I still think there is a lot that could be improved. I'm not a huge fan of city-builders (the only ones i've played are this, Tropico 4, and Sim City 2000) so I can't critique the game as much as others but I will try to offer some decent criticisms. The game seems to be lacking some road functionality, Traffic often takes the same lane on a 3 lane road and this ends up causing huge traffic jams. There's no way to connect a road to another and not have it create an intersection, this is especially annoying when using highway ramps or one way roads. There seems to be a lack of unique buildings. I found this glaring when trying to increase my tourism. Supposedly tourism is supposed to be a big way to get money but there's no real way to draw tourists other than making these big, unlockable, "unique buildings" which do nothing other than drawing tourists in very small numbers. There's also no way to terraform the environment. You can't make a hill or level a mountain. This becomes annoying when trying to place a large building because you have to find a place that is totally flat. Airports are my biggest grief with this. Due to the generally bland nature of the maps (almost completely flat with some trees and rivers here or there) all your cities end up looking similar. Citizens seem to die quickly and in waves. No matter how much you're growing you will come across "death waves" where hundreds, if not thousands, of your citizens will die within a few days. This is annoying and makes it hard to judge what your true growth is or if you've come across a serious problem. I'm sure there are more issues I came across but I can't think of them now. Overall the game is enjoyable and I intend on going back to it. The devs seem intent of fixing at least some of these issues and supposedly on releasing a ton of DLC. In the mean time, the game has great mod support which can fix some of these issues and make the game much more enjoyable.

Total War: Rome II7

This is a review of the state of Rome II 1 and a half years after release. There's still tons of bugs so don't think it's perfect but from what i've read about the disaster at release, the game is much improved. I still get a strange bug where there's awkward lag during siege battles sometimes that makes the game near unplayable but that's the only real issue i have had other than the game crashing during multiplayer campaigns. I am also disappointed with the DLC direction that CA and Sega have decided to take. Half the playable factions are locked behind a paywall and even then there is an unreal amount of Greek-like factions which all play the same. Other than that i'm enjoying myself. It's nowhere near as good as Rome I and Medieval II and i'd even say Empire was better but I like it more than Shogun 2 and don't regret my $15 purchase.

Mar 24, 2015
Max Payne 3 is lifted up by its story telling and graphical presentation. It unfortunately falls due to wonky controls, poor optimization, and totally generic gameplay. The story starts off well and has you interested in what happens next but about half way through the game you'll have figured everything out and it just doesn't have the suspense it did at the beginning. On PC, the game has a subpar control scheme and if you want to take advantage of all the mechanics in the game you'll have to do some serious rebinding. My biggest disappointment was the gameplay. I heard about bullet-time and how great it is but it just feels like a gimmick that doesn't make sense and really isn't any fun. The gunplay without the bullet-time is not particularly fun nor well done. My biggest disappointment however was how short the story was for what i expected to be a singleplayer oriented game. I finished the story on medium in around 8 hours. There's not much of a reason to want to replay the game since half of it is cutscenes which are unskippable because of how long the levels take to load. They added an unnecessary multiplayer mode because evidently every good singleplayer game needs to be ruined by the inclusion of such a mode. It's not good and nobody plays it either. Overall I'm highly disappointed in this purchase and recommend everyone staying away.

A below average side scroller that gets propped up by wonderful setting and a decent story. It isn't the masterpiece people want you to think but it isn't bad either. You'll be told a story set during the First World War which is woefully unexplored in video games. Unfortunately the story lacks any sort of real emotion until the very end and the whole while you will be doing completely mundane tasks that they call gameplay. However the setting and art style was enough to keep me relatively interested for the 4 hours it took me to get to the end. The gameplay just consists of turning switches, climbing ladders, pressing buttons, telling your pet do where to go, etc. It's all been done before and it's all been done better. On the other hand the story tells an unengaging tale set in a new period of history but it just totally fails to captivate you until the end. I wish they would have picked one or the other to focus on and we might have gotten a game that was more worth your time.

A fine Murder mystery game that will have you wondering "who done it" until the end. A good story, decent graphics, and great voice acting made my playthrough surprisingly enjoyable Unfortunately it tries a bit too much to appeal to the casual audience by adding combat which isn't good at all and some relatively pointless mechanics like zooming and sprinting. There are also a plethora of performance and other issues but none that I found to be game breaking; just minor annoyances. My biggest gripe is how short the game is. You can easily finish it in 4 hours or less and they try to add time by packing the game full of collectibles so you can learn the backstory to the game. If you enjoy story based games, playing a detective, and can get it on the cheap end, then i'd recommend picking it up.

This War of Mine7
Feb 14, 2015
This War of Mine isn't the masterpiece that so many people claim it to be. However, it is definitely an enjoyable game. It's a relatively simply survival game where you play a civilian trying to survive amid a war. By day you build up your base and deal with the issues among your group of survivors and by night you go out and scavenge what you need. It's one of the few times that I really felt like I was playing a survival game. You'll constantly be needing something and you won't find yourself coasting along easily at any point in the game. The gameplay is very basic, you just click on screen to where you want to go, click on items to loot them or upgrade and build things. There's nothing complex or no deep gameplay for you to get addicted to. This War of Mine's claim to fame is different. It adds an emotional state to the game. Your actions will affect your survivors. Stealing and killing will have cause your survivors to drop in to depression and there may be heartfelt dialogue that pops on screen about you just did. If this is something you don't really care for then you probably won't like this game no matter how big of a fan of survival games you are. If this sounds like something that appeals to you then you should definitely try this. The game however lacks replay value. There is a random element to the game; you can get different survivors with different traits. You safe house can look different and the places you go to scavenge may be different but that's it. After 1-2 playthroughs you will have seen most there is to do in the game and you'll become proficient at it. With that said, I did enjoy my time and feel like it's definitely worth a look for anyone looking for a moral side to their game.

Shadow Warrior4
Jan 24, 2015
I guess I'll be the dissenting opinion here. I enjoyed Flying Wild Hogs previous game, Hard Reset, but I've found it very hard to feel the same way for Shadow Warrior. I'm halfway through the game (on chapter 9 out of 17 I believe) and I am going to call it quits. Shadow Warrior is a arena based First-Person Hack and Slash. You're put in levels where you walk around until you get to an area. This area acts as arena because you have to kill all the enemies in it before you're allowed to move on to the next. These areas are never interesting or unique. They are just bald areas with boxes, building around the side, and corpses thrown around the ground. The best weapon by far is the Katana which I found to have very repetitive gameplay accompanying it. Each fight plays out the same and I never felt like I was making progress. I gain money to upgrade my weapons, skill points to upgrade abilities, and strange crystal things to upgrade powers. And yet, I never felt like the game was progressing. I personally feel that the game is highly overrated because it has a japanese setting and you can use a katana. It is simply a grind from slightly different arena to slightly different arena. If you're looking for a shooter, pass it up.

Better than Caesar in Gaul but still not worthwhile. This campaign provides a small scenario that simulates the Punic Wars. You have the two major powers of Rome and Carthage that are the focus of the campaign and a few other minor factions that you can play as as well. It isn't as linear (other than Rome and Carthage being locked in a never ending war) as CiG was and that's good. However I find it sadly over priced for a campaign that brings absolutely nothing new to the table except a map.

A very small campaign for too high a price. It's basically more Rome II but just with the factions in and around Gaul. They added seasons which is nice. However, I didn't find it to be a very fun campaign. Because of the factions they start you at war with, you don't really have a choice in how to go about your campaign and it felt like i was forced down a linear path. Once I got so far then other factions would just declare war on me as soon as I destroyed a previous faction so I never got to personally choose what to do. Since your imperium rises very quickly, all the faction will hate you very early making any diplomatic opportunities few and far between.

It's simple and fun for a while but can get boring if you play too much at once. I picked it up for $1 and got 4 hours of playtime out of it so it was worth it to me.

The Wolf Among Us9
Dec 23, 2014
By far my favorite adventure game. The story, characters, and setting are all fantastic and immensely interesting. The gameplay isn't as annoying and the QTEs aren't as strangely placed as they are in Walking Dead. However the ending wasn't as satisfying as I had hoped and there are clear quality differences between the episodes, specifically episodes 2 and 4 which are much worse than 1, 3, and 5. If they made the gameplay better and raised the quality of the two bad episodes, this game would have been perfect. Looking forward to a sequel.

The Walking Dead: Season Two - A Telltale Games Series7
Dec 23, 2014
More of the same. It improves slightly on the previous season by giving you more interesting characters, comedy, and it also doesn't claim that the game will totally change based upon your choices. However, ti does seem weird that all these adults rely on a child to make all the important decisions for them. I don't' really thing Clementine was the best choice for a playable character, but it worked out fine most of the time. Also, the addition of multiple endings was a huge bonus.

Anomaly Korea7
Dec 23, 2014
More of the same for the anomaly series. It introduces some new towers, powers and units but the main idea is the same. Beware that the difficulty cub does jump up quite fast but if you've played the previous games it shouldn't really be a problem. I do like that they got rid of the random luck-based assault trials in the original game and replaced them with a tougher non-randomized mode. Overall, if you liked the previous games and want some more you'll enjoy this.

Viscera Cleanup Detail: Shadow Warrior6
Dec 23, 2014
You're a janitor and you go around cleaning up a mess. What more is there to say? It's relatively fun and you get it for free with the game so I can't really complain. It's not super fun but there wasn't anything bad about it either. Expect it to last 1-2 hours.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons6
Dec 23, 2014
I've heard great things about the story in this game. Being a huge fan of stories in games, i had to give it a go. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed. The story was above average but I found it hard to care for the two main characters and their quest since the game doesn't use dialogue. The shortness of the game (3 hours long) doesn't help, either. The worst part however was the control scheme. You have to use a controller since you control both brothers simultaneously. It soon becomes a chore to play and the only real reason to continue is for the story.

Saints Row IV: How the Saints Save Christmas6
Dec 4, 2014
Better than Enter the Dominatrix, but still not all that great. The story is much easier to follow and the characters are more comical and likable. The levels are more interesting but it's shorter - around 1.5 hours long. It's more of the same, but that's really all you should have expected anyway.

Saints Row IV: Enter the Dominatrix5
Dec 4, 2014
Convoluted and confusing. You will rarely understand what's going on and who is being featured throughout the DLC. They throw random levels at you with little to no backstory and expect you to enjoy it. You get basically the same gameplay as IV and it lasts you about 2 hours with no replayability.

Saints Row IV7
Dec 4, 2014
The gameplay is overall improved from The Third. However, the addition of superpowers and ridiculous weapons makes the game trivial. Vehicles are now useless and you will never use them unless a mission mandates them. There's also less content in IV. You have main missions which will last you ~4 hours to finish as well as some loyalty missions for each homie. Every other side mission is just something that tells you go to do activities. They try to add content by putting over 1,000 collectibles throughout the world but these are utterly boring to find. I enjoyed it, but i can't say i am looking forward to any more iterations in the series.

Wolfenstein: The New Order8
Dec 1, 2014
A solid shooter with a fantastic story, setting and characters. The combat is good but there wasn't enough of it. The game itself ends up being around 9-10 hours long and a good amount of that is spent doing chores at your homebase. I would have liked to see an additional 5+ hours added onto the game. I have to give machinegames props for not adding on a multiplayer component as that would not have benefited the game in any way. Looking forward to a sequel.

The Blackwell Convergence5

Once again this series does nothing to advance itself and try to get better. It suffers from the same flaws that the previous two games had and only has the addition of having slightly improved graphics and travelling system.

Blackwell Unbound5
Nov 23, 2014
I felt this iteration in the series was even worse than the previous one. The story isn't any better and the protagonist is even more annoying than the previous game. Travelling around can be confusing and there just wasn't anything memorable or interesting in the game to begin with.

The Blackwell Legacy6
Nov 23, 2014
I should start off by saying i'm not a fan of point-and-clicks to begin with. The Blackwell Legacy didn't change that. I played this because i was told it had a great story and was one of the better point and clicks available. I thought the story wasn't any good. Your typical run of the mill story that had an unlikable protagonist. The mechanics were the same as all other games in the genre and I didn't see anything that would set it apart. Disappointing.

Bridge Constructor Playground5
Nov 23, 2014
A simple bridge building game. You get so many funds and then use those funds to purchase resources. Vehicles pass over the bridge when you're done and they change colors based upon which part of the bridge is being stressed the most. It's very simplistic and accessible. The only real problem i had was the lack of variety among the bridges and the repetitiveness of not only the background but the game in general. Only really worth it if you're a fan of this type of game or just want a casual game to waste some time.

Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword6
Nov 20, 2014
Basically the same as Warband except there are firearms. They change the game a lot since they're usually 1-2 hit kills. The most disappointing part was the poorly utilized "main quests" which are full of bugs and you'll often find yourself having to reload old saves to progress them. Also, the map is bad. I know it's based on real life and the factions are real life factions as well. But the map is super boring. It's just an open flat area with a few rivers and bodies of water on the north and south. It's not interesting and makes for a mess when enemies can just wander anywhere they want since there are very few choke points.

Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack7
Nov 20, 2014
Surprisingly fun Katamari style platformer. You play as a blob that needs to eat stuff strewn throughout levels in order to progress. You can also collect little blobs for bonus points (there's a score system). Unfortunately there's no free play mode so you don't ever get a real open area where you can grow to a massive size. Nevertheless it is a good game for anyone interested in a new spin on Katamari.
