Resistance 37
May 18, 2014
Resistance 3 is a fun first person shooter but does nothing to really differentiate itself from the competition. The story gives a decent end to the resistance series but does nothing more than that. Upgrading weapons by using them is great because it forces the player to use their entire arsenal and doesn't waste momentum by making you go through a upgrade screen. At the end of the day Resistance 3 doesn't feature much replayability but that is okay because you have a good experience the first time around and the game is available for dirt cheap these days.

Sleeping Dogs: Year of the Snake5
Apr 27, 2014
Year of the snake is the last dlc for United Fronts Sleeping Dogs. Unlike The Zodiac tournament and Nightmare in North Point missions in Year of the Snake are little bit more diverse and feature more than just fistfights. This doesn't make it a lot better though, the story is at best forgettable and the missions themselves are bland. The new weapons and accessories don't add much either. If you are really starving for more sleeping dogs you could play this but i would rather replay some of the missions from the main campaign.

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode One8
Apr 27, 2014
It feels good to be back in Rapture. The biggest selling point for the first episode of Burial at Sea is seeing Rapture in its prime. The first hour or so where you can freely walk through a large open area inside rapture is awesome. It does come with its downsides, the pacing feels kind of weird because of the combat overkill in the second half of the game. The biggest disappointment besides its short length is the second area. Booker and Elizabeth are sent to a sunken down part of rapture where splicers run rampant. It looks like a environment from the first game and i would have rather spent more time in Rapture in its glory. Overall i think this is a good piece of dlc and a must have for every Bioshock fan.

Shadow Warrior8
Apr 6, 2014
This is the most fun i have had in a videogame in a long time. The action has a oldschool feel and is very satisfying, even though this is a first person shooter i barely shot anything and mostly used my sword to hack and slash through the hordes of hellspawn. The game doesnt take itself too serious and is fun and over the top. With that said at the end of the game i found myself caring for the main characters. Get this game if you are a big fan of games like serious sam and Bulletstorm

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - Freedom Cry7
Mar 30, 2014
I played the standalone and for the price you get a decent but short Assassin's Creed adventure. The story and character are a bit more interesting compared to Black Flag and 3. All the original gameplay elements are still there for better or worse. The stealth is still mostly broken and the combat is way too easy. But at the end of the day i still had a good time exploring the environment and following the story.

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes6
Mar 30, 2014
I remember enjoying the Star Wars Lego games back on the ps2 so when they announced a open-world Lego game where you can explore the batman universe i got pretty excited. The problem is that i did not enjoy any of the gameplay mechanics. The fighting was dull and the puzzles were easy and made no sense. So the only stuff that i enjoyed were the references and in jokes. It is still worth getting for younger gamers and people that are huge Batman fans.

Sleeping Dogs: Nightmare in North Point5
Mar 30, 2014
I am a big fan of Sleeping Dogs so i was really excited when they announced the Dlc. I was hoping for something like Big trouble in little china with exciting missions and story. The problem is that the entire dlc consists of going from one location to the next to fight the same enemies over and over without motivation to keep you going. The missions can be finished in around 90-100 minutes and there is not much else to do besides that.

Okami HD9
Mar 22, 2014
I played okami back in the day on the ps2 but for some reason i never finished it. But when the hd version was announced it was time to finish what i started. I had a great time with the game. Exploring the world was fun especialy because of the great art style. The puzzles where unique because of the brush mechanic. The combat was enjoyable but was never challenging and got quite repetitive in the later parts of the game.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance8
Feb 23, 2014
Metal Gear Rising is straight up fun. The story is absolutely bonkers and doesn't take itself all that serious. The swordplay feels great and the slicing mechanic is really satisfying. Big Metal Gear fans might be disappointed because the story is not as serious and it feels like it is set in a completely different universe than the other Metal Gear games. The most memorable part about this game are its insane and elaborate boss fights. Especially the last boss is one of the most fun and ridiculous boss fights i have played in the last couple of years.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii7
Feb 23, 2014
This game shows that a mediocre Mario game is still a pretty good game. The gameplay is exactly what you would expect from Mario game. I cant say that the level design is bad but none of the levels are memorable at all. The parts in the game where you use the wii mote feels forced at best and took me out of the game. Overall i think that the game is fun but forgettable compared to some of the better Mario games.

PixelJunk SideScroller8

There is not much to say about pixeljunk sidescroller. it has great leveldesign, music and visuals. The game is a bit short but the price is low and it does not feel like there is something missing.

Killzone 37
Feb 17, 2014
I barely played the multiplayer so this is just a review of the singleplayer campaign. The story starts almost directly after the end of Killzone 2. Not that anybody cares because the story is extremely bland and the main heroes are either unlikable or forgettable. Story-wise most of the entertainment comes from Ray Winstone and Malcolm Mcdowell who are extremely over the top and just chew scenery throughout the entire game. The game controls a lot better than its predecessor while still keeping the feeling that your weapons have weight. The level design is also a bit better and i used the cover mechanic quite a bit while i don't remember using it at all in Killzone 2. Visually the game still looks great and holds up pretty well even after having seen Killzone: Shadowfall. Overall i had fun with the game but i doubt that i remember much of the singleplayer campaign after a few months

Batman: Arkham Origins8
Feb 17, 2014
The Batman Arkham games are among my favorite of the last generation. So i was more than a little worried when Warner Bros announced that a different studio was making the next one without most of the original cast. Overall i think that the story is good and the voice actors do a fine job at portraying the characters. The gameplay on the other hand feels a bit off, the combat feels a bit more sluggish and i encountered more than a few bugs throughout the game that forced me to restart the checkpoint. As a Batman fan i was excited to see the introduction of some of best Batman villains in the Arkham series. I was a bit disappointed that some of the new characters are little more than boss fights while the overall story is yet again centered around the Joker. Besides that i still liked the story, especially the interactions with Alfred and Gordon. Overall this is a good game for Batman fans but i would advice people to wait for some patches because the bugs are quite immersion breaking

The Last of Us: Left Behind9
Feb 17, 2014
Left Behind is the long awaited dlc for the Last of Us. The dlc is both a prequel and a side story. The characters are great and the dialogue is some of the best we have seen in the gaming industry. The story stands well on its on but also adds to the experience of the original game. The new combat situations stand among the best of the main game and especially the moments where you fight infected and humans at the same time are fresh and give a lot more strategic possibilities. The only con i can think of is the length which is around 2.5 hours. I don't have a problem with the length because it still delivers a complete and meaningful story. overall i am really happy about the dlc and it is a must play for fans of the Last of Us.

Velocity Ultra8
Feb 17, 2014
Velocity ultra is a great portable game. The bite sized levels are challenging and addictive. More than once i almost forgot to get out of the train in time because i was in the middle of a mission. The comic book cut scenes are cute but the story does not really add anything to the experience. This is not a problem because gameplay and level design are the main focus and they completely deliver on those parts.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger7
Feb 10, 2014
Call of Juarez is a fun and polished shooter with a budget price. The first thing you notice when you start the game is the vibrant cell shaded visual style, It really stands out compared to most first person shooters. The game is a throwback too old school run and gun shooters and is built around getting xp by making creative kills. With that you can unlock skills over three different skill trees which gives you a good reason to replay the game in new game plus. The story is forgettable but works well enough as a way to setup the missions. if you are looking for a fun shooter with a budget price that you can play through on a lazy Sunday, look no further.

The Wolf Among Us: Episode 2 - Smoke and Mirrors8
Feb 10, 2014
It was a long 3 month wait after the introduction to the wolf among us but episode 2 is finally here. The second episode is not as solid as the first mostly because of sloppier writing and a shorter running time. Despite all that the writing is still better than most other games and the world is unique and interesting. At the end of the day if you enjoyed the first episode you going to enjoy this one as well.

God of War: Ascension7
Feb 10, 2014
While ascension is a fun game and the main mechanics are still satisfying it lacks the punch that god of war 3 had. The story is weak and lacks consequences of any form. The bossfights and new enemies are less memorable. In a desperate attempt to top the last game in the franchise its more violent than ever and at times some finishing moves feel like a snuff film directed by Zack Snyder.

Saints Row IV8
Jan 29, 2014
Saints row 4 starts at the top and goes so far over it that it ends up in outer space. Along the way it parodies every game known to man with some of the highpoints being Metal Gear Solid and Mass Effect. The story is ridiculous and the dialogue is sharper than a purple energy sword. The gameplay feels a lot fresher than the previous games because of the superpower, this is despite the fact that most of the new weapons, vehicles and enemies are merely reskins. At the end of the day Saints row 4 is a hell **** time and stands out between all the gritty and serious games that came out last year.

Gravity Rush7
Jan 3, 2014
Gravity Rush is a good game despite a lot of problems. The game looks gorgeous and is easily the best looking open world game on a portable system. The art style is vibrant and colorful, this mixed with the great jazzy soundtrack creates a world that you want to spend a lot of time in. Most of the fun in this game comes from exploring the city using your gravity powers. The biggest problem with this game is its combat. Its repetitive, boring and really shows how bad the camera can be at times. The story can be fun at times but its barely explains any of the mysteries and ends on a big cliffhanger. I would still recommend this game to anyone that owns a vita.
