Good movie with interesting takes on the reality, metaphysics, and quantum computing. Don't let the opening fool you, it gets better as the movie goes with a final twist worthy of Christopher Nolan's science-fiction flicks.

Some innovative ideas, but unfortunately it ultimately leads to the overbearing Hollywood-action clichés, which the movie desperately tried to avoid with its distinctive A+ casting supported by great sci-fi references. Overall it's not good nor bad, simply average. You could like it or hate it.

Watched Black Panther yesterday. Good movie overall, but definitely overrated. For once, the MCU entertainment formula didn't serve its purpose in a movie where the absence of formulaic comedy would have been gladly taken. As opposed to Thor: Ragnarok, The Avengers or Iron Man, Black Panther had several opportunities to make the jump from 'everyday comic book movie' to Sci-Fi Must - as 'Star Wars' Must, the kind of must where you can picture yourself wandering in Wakanda, a fictive country with a universe bigger to discover than all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. So what can we say about this movie? Well, obviously the missed opportunities to reach higher grounds. Which appears more and more frustrating as the movie goes on. Is it true to the MCU? Yes, sure. Too much? Yes, as the limit can be seen from the moment when the plot is given straight forward, just like every other MCU movie where this formulaic template follows. From then on, the magic you felt up to the second half of the movie is slowly fading away. So much potential going to waste yet again, thanks to a cinematic universe. If you are a Marvel fan, watch it. If you're more into movies, don't.

I've always been a huge fan of the X-Men, especially Wolverine. For many of us who were watching the 90's X-Men animated series - although he wasn't the strongest of Professor X's team - Wolverine was by far the top favorite X-Men hero among kids at kindergarten, because he simply looked badass in his yellow suit, but also stubborn as Batman. In 2000, Hugh Jackman has been announced to play Wolverine in the first X-Men movie. 17 years and nine movies later, Jackman signed his "last movie as Wolverine" entitled 'Logan'. Logan's first trailer instantly caught my eye: its serious tone and darker take, the likes of The Dark Knight, Daredevil and Watchmen to name a few, is about to become a new standard, in a world where comic book movies are labelled by default as Hollywood blockbusters or family entertainment. Here in 'Logan', the first and second don't qualify. The movie is extremely violent compared to the other X-Men movies, if not more than any comic book adaptation released so far, and it was shot to look like an independent low budget type of movie. First thing I noticed after watching 'Logan': it's a movie based on the X-Men franchise... without really wanting to be based on it (?). Simply said: I feel like it was only a X-Men by the name. Basically, you could remove any X-Men reference to 'Logan' and you're practically going to get the same movie. This is a dangerous zone because the only thing that such X-Men association will do onto an independent type of movie, is to build expectations towards the X-Men part of the movie, which was clearly lacking in 'Logan'. The originality and the will to make a different movie has to be considered. This is what holds th house of cards together, along with a state of the art direction. The project initiated from that idea. Then, passed its unique independent movie aspects and serious tone, the movie lacks in continuity and story. You will find the movie long, very very long to watch. Not that because the movie is actually long (2:20), but because the script is rather weak. Story-wise, which is influencing the script, it also fails to justify several scenes, leading to a few incoherencies; towards the end of the movie, we still have questions regarding Laura (Logan's daughter) and Charles Xavier. There were important questions asked throughout the movie and we don't really get the answers. My feeling after watching the movie is that, overall, the director does seem to have a lot of experience in everything X-Men and big budget movies, but no experience at all when the time comes to shoot more serious independent movies type. I believe you should watch it with no expectation. It's not a good X-Men, but a good movie nonetheless. The psychology and profoundness of this movie is by far superior than any other Marvel. To this, we can't be more thankful to Hugh Jackman for having greatly played a comic book character the longest - 17 years as Wolverine, quite an achievement. His last interpretation is certainly one for the books.
